Girls in nightdresses in the garden. C.1890s. The Black Isle, Scotland. Yes, this is the most terrifying image in my collection. It’s from the same set of 200 half plate glass negatives as the pervious post. When I scanned and then inverted it I had the shock of my life! The girl in the bottom left looks very… striking. At first I though maybe she was deathly ill. But I have images of her later in life. I love how experimental it is for the time. How personal.  I wanted to post this image that I found while I was home this summer. It was taken sometime in the late 70′s ( I think) at a party my parents hosted at our house. (Note the wonderful wallpaper)

I am posting it because I am intrigued by amateur photography. What makes it interesting is its unassuming nature. I am pretty sure that the photographer never intended to do anything but document a scene. Somehow he or she managed to make a really interesting image. It's technically flawed, but something about these dancing couples keeps my attention.

Taking off her hat and coat. C.1900 approx. Found glass negative. All taken on me plate. These series photographs are always rather interesting, almost like a mini movie. You often see people taking off their hat and coat as it’s an easy movement to make when out and about. In line with my pervious post, I think this is the sort of thing you might have taken at the seaside or at a fair.
