When You’re Shy, but Your Sis is Shy Shy Shy (J-idol!Minatozaki!Reader)

aka "what happens when your Jpop group is holding a handshake event, but it's in the same venue as your sister Sana's Kpop group high-touch event."

A/N: I should clarify a couple things first. The names used in this fic are very real, but they don't reflect the idols/groups irl, so take everything with a grain of salt.

Also from the groups to the fanbases, J-idol and K-idol culture are vastly different, so don't go comparing any group against each other. I don't want any more disrespect thrown towards anyone, we are not in 2019 anymore. (If you know, you know.)

I tried to change up a few Japanese/ J-idol centric terms into English, hope it's easier to understand.

As a member of the Japanese girl group Nogizaka46, you were excited for– and dreading– the handshake event coming up this weekend.

It would be a good opportunity to gain more fans and boost your popularity, but having to interact with thousands of fans for two days straight wasn’t really something to look forward to, at least physically.

Not to mention, you’d be in the same lane as Saito Asuka, a popular first gen member, and Yoda Yuki, a popular third gen member (whose nickname was also Yoda). Plus the fact that you were the center of their newest single, your lane would be packed to the brim.

Of course, you were grateful for the ones who bought tickets to greet you in person. People spend a lot of money to attend these events, you could at least give them a memorable first- and often once in a lifetime- experience.

Aside from greeting the fans, there was also one more thing you were looking forward to that weekend.

The Makuhari Messe in Chiba, the venue where your handshake would be held; would also be holding another event simultaneously.

The international Kpop girl group, Twice, would be holding their high-touch event in the same venue as yours.

Not only were you a big fan of the group, having followed them since Sixteen, you were also related to one of the members.

That’s right. You, Minatozaki Y/N, were the sister of Twice’s Japanese member, Minatozaki Sana.

When you debuted with your generation in Nogizaka, there had been speculation that you and Sana were related, since the last name Minatozaki is very uncommon. But neither of you had really confirmed the fact despite the obvious hints, it basically became an open secret at this point.

You hadn’t seen your sister in person in years. Both of you being busy with idol work, your breaks between schedules never seemed to match up. With their high-touch being in the same space as your handshake event, you could finally attempt to go and visit your sister, and give her a hug.

It was the first day of your handshake event, and in the morning, your group had to perform the latest single album’s songs in a mini concert to kick off the event.

You were nervous. Being the center, it meant that you had the expectations of everyone on your shoulders. But you loved to perform, and you weren’t gonna let something such as stage fright hinder your dreams.

After the approximately 2 hour mini concert, the handshake event officially began.

As expected, the line for your lane was long. And it was probably even longer than usual, because it seemed that some of Twice’s fans came to visit you at your lane as well, supporting Sana’s sister before Twice’s high-touch event started.

“Minatozaki-san, please do shy shy shy!”

“If I switch my bias to you, will your sis get mad?”

“Do you have anything you want to tell your sister? I will go to the high-touch later!”

The Twice effect was bubbling that day, even non-Twice fans seemed to have gotten word about you and Sana being related. Almost every fan interaction that day had something to do with Twice.

It was finally your lane’s breaktime. You, Asuka and Yoda were having a late lunch in the resting area with some other members on break, you were hungry.

“Mou~" Asuka started, “why is everyone asking me to do shy shy shy today?” she glared at you playfully.

Yoda laughed, “Can’t help that we have a Twice member in our group, Asuka-san.”

You chuckled, feeling sheepish, “Sorry.”

“Nah~ No mind.”

Most girls in your group loved Kpop, and were also big fans of Twice. Even though some members, such as Asuka, preferred to listen to western music, they still acknowledged Kpop’s popularity and also knew about trends when it came to the genre.

Yoda, on the contrary, was such a big fan of the group, she always begged you to help her get Twice’s autographs. Especially Tzuyu, who was her bias.

Despite being the sister of Sana, you’ve actually never met any of the members of Twice. You’d hoped that you could do that, but your schedules never allowed it to happen.

Your phone rang, it was Sana on a FaceTime call. You answered it.

“Shimoshimo. Sana-chan~”

“Y/N-chan! Are you on break? Did you get my package??”

“Yup! Are you at the venue already?”

“Mhm mhm! We’re just getting ready~”

Hearing the name of the Twice member, Yoda squished her face next to yours to look at your phone, wanting to witness the famous Sha Sha herself.

Sana definitely looked amused at your fellow member’s antics, “Well hello~ I’m Sana! You must be Yoda-chan.” she smiled.

Yoda’s eyes widened at the mention of her name, “Y-yes I am!”

Your sister laughed, “It’s nice to finally meet you~ You worked hard today!”

Yoda was blushing like a tomato at this point.

“I-it’s nothing, Sana-san.”

“Okay, enough drooling at my sister.” you joked, pushing her away.

Your sister teased, “Aw, Y/N senpai being commanding~”

“Sana~” you whined.

“Sana knows my name!!!!” Yoda screamed into Asuka’s ear, who looked less than impressed.

“Yey, good for you. Okay, be good now.” she patted her head, trying to calm her down.

But Yoda was having none of it, so she grabbed Asuka’s hand and proceeded to swing it back and forth.

“Sana knows my name~~"

Asuka looked like she wanted to crawl into a ditch and die.

A commotion outside the resting area had you guys turning your heads, the door opened.

Twice’s J-Line poked their heads in, Sana’s eyes lit up when she saw you.

“Y/N!!!” she ran over to give you a big hug, the other members from your group screamed.

“Oh my god!”

“Twice?!”

“They’re so pretty.”

“Oh my it’s Mina!!” “Momo!!!”

"Wait. So Sana and Y/N are really related??”

You felt emotional, since you haven’t seen your sister in so long. Sana patted your back.

“Weren’t you supposed to be getting ready?” you wiped some tears from your eyes.

Sana had her signature grin on, “Well, there was still time before the high-touch, so I decided to come visit you~” she squished your cheeks.

“Look at my sister, she’s a center now~”

“Mou, cut it out!” You pouted.

After the two of you calmed down from the initial excitement, Sana and MiMo introduced themselves to the group. The members from your group did so as well.

The two groups mingled a bit more, then the Twice members had to leave for their high-touch, while you and the girls finished up your break, needing to switch with some other members.

Just as you opened the door, the second half of members from your group filed in, they hadn’t noticed the Kpop members yet.

“You worked hard today, Y/N-San!”

They greeted you, since you were standing by the door.

Once you moved to the side to let them pass, they finally noticed the Twice members in the room.

More screaming.

Sana laughed, Momo chuckled, even Mina hid a smile behind her palm.

“They’re so cute, Y/N-chan~” your sister pointed out.

“They really are.” You agreed.

“Sana-san.” A member of your group called out to her, “Is it okay if we ask you t-to..” she trailed off, feeling embarrassed.

Sana giggled.

“Of course!”

She then did her signature move.

“Shy shy shy!”

“Kyaaaaa!!!!”

The room erupted into chaos, again. You hoped that the noise from the venue would cover up the screams of twenty something excited girls.

The rest of the day went by in a blur. Some fans came to visit you after attending Twice’s high-touch, cracking more jokes.

Asuka, albeit reluctant, still agreed to do shy shy shy for a couple of lucky female fans. She would definitely be regretting her life decisions later.

Yoda was having a blast. Being a Once, she agreed to most of the fans’ requests, and also interacted animatedly with everyone.

By the end of it, you were very, very tired.

You checked the time, it was 6pm. Twice’s high-touch would end at 7pm, so you grabbed a parcel and asked all your members to gather around backstage.

“I’m pretty sure all of you know by now, that Minatozaki Sana is my sister.” you cleared your throat, “so, uhm, we organized this little thing. Since we still have time-”

You reached into the parcel, and brought out a stack of high-touch tickets.

“- does anyone wanna go shake hands with Twice?”

The scream your members gave you in return was deafening.

When the members of Nogizaka46 appeared at Twice’s high-touch event, it caused an uproar. Since it was so late, you guys were the last ones allowed to enter the venue. Everyone’s eyes glued to you as you all got in line.

The first one was Tzuyu, who greeted you warmly.

“Congratulations on being center, Y/N-san. Sana told us how important it is, she’s very proud of you.” she said.

“Thank you, Tzuyu-san.” you chuckled.

“Oh, I hear that your nickname is Yoda?”

“Mhm, why is that?” she looked at you quizzically.

“We also have a Yoda in our group. She’s a really big fan of yours.”

“Oh really?” Tzuyu smiled, dimples and all.

“I look forward to meeting her then.”

High-touching was fun, it was nice to be in the shoes of the fan for once. Each member greeted you with their unique type of enthusiasm, and their energy inspired you to work harder on your job.

“You know,” when high-touching Momo, she leaned over and whispered.

“I almost auditioned for NMB back in the day.” NMB48 is an official rival sister group that mainly operated in Osaka.

Your eyes widened.

“No way! Sana and I almost did as well.”

Momo smiled, “We could’ve been in the same group, huh?” “Probably,” you gave her a sad smile, “but I am thankful you both made it into Twice instead.”

Lastly, you sat in front of your sister. Feeling mischievous, you decided to play a bit.

“Sana-chan!” you shook her hand, “I’m such a huge fan of you and Twice!!”

Your sister caught on immediately at what you were trying to do.

She entwined her fingers with yours and pulled your face dangerously close to hers.

“Thank you!” she smiled, eyes crinkling dangerously, “Please like me, and me only!”

Whoa. “O-okay.” you stammered. You expected her to be good at this, but not this good.

“Minatozaki-san!” a fan in the audience broke the spell.

Both you and your sister turned toward the source of the voice.

“Haaa?” Sana called out.

The fan continued, “Please do shy shy shy!”

“Me?” Sana pointed to herself..

“Or her?” she pointed to you.

“Both!!” Everyone screamed, including Sana’s and your group members.

Laughing, you and Sana got up to stand next to each other, someone handed you each a mic.

“Chewy, can you sing the line before that, please.” Sana cued their maknae.

“Okay.” Tzuyu held up three fingers.

“Three. Two. One!” Everyone shouted.

“아까는 못받아서 미안해” Tzuyu sang.

“친구를 만나느라 shy shy shy” you and Sana sang, doing the moves.

“Kawaii!!!” Everybody in the room- including the staff- cheered for you two, feeling lucky to witness such a moment with their own eyes.

Amidst the excitement, Sana leaned over to whisper in your ear.

“I wonder if the company could let us collaborate, looks like everyone’s enjoying it.” “I know right?” you whispered back, looking at the animated crowd.

It was a sight to see, both Jpop and Kpop fans having fun together.

She continued, “And I know you’d wanna get a chance to see Momo more.”

You sputtered. “W-what–”

“It’s fine, Y/N-chan~” Sana patted your head. “I saw how you were looking at her.” “But don’t make it too obvious, though.” she joked “You still have a dating ban to put up with after all.” “Minatozaki Sana!!”

Sana's chiming laughter was drowned out by the roar of the crowd.

2017 ー PARTY NIGHT [PARTY NIGHT]

“Yes, it’s fine. It is my job to protect the fans’ beloved Yuta-kun.“

Part 1

THRIVE has a meeting with their president Shuji Daikoku.

Shuji: ‘There will be a party this weekend. You didn’t forget, right?’

Goshi: ‘A reception party hosted by Gandara, or something like that.’

Yuta: ‘Of course ~! I’m looking forward to it! The cake I had last year was super delicious!’

Shuji: ‘Don’t get all tense on that day, Yuta. A lot of officials will come.’

Yuta: ‘Ye-s, I will be perfectly quiet and eat plenty of food!’

Kento: ‘Aren’t you forgetting the welcoming round? Even if you say party, we aren’t there to have fun.’

Yuta: ‘Eeeh ~! I Even though I was looking forward to the food ~’

Kento: ‘Really, nothing but appetite, you have no appeal.’

Goshi: ‘Appeal is not needed at the party.’

Kento: ‘It’s because you’re a baby -’

Goshi: ‘Who’s a baby?’

Before Kento and Goshi can continue with their banter, Shuji interrupts them.

Shuji: ‘Oi, cut it out. Kento, don’t play with women more than necessary.’

Kento: ‘If it’s necessary, then it’s ok, right?’

Shuji: ‘Aa? Geez, you all really are…’

Shuji: ‘Goshi, Kento will probably cause trouble, have an eye on him.’

Goshi: ‘Haa!? Why me!’

Shuji: ‘Isn’t it obvious, because you are in the same group. … Sumisora, please look after Yuta.’

Tsubasa: ‘Taking care?’

Shuji: ‘It’s a big venue. Who knows where he gets lost.’, the president explains.

Kento: ‘Yuta is a genius in getting lost.’

Kento adds with a teasing tone.

Goshi: ‘He’s not a genius, he’s a disaster. To get lost just before a performance, it’s really laughable.’

Yuta: ‘It’s not like I plan to get lost ~ The way changes on its own.’

Goshi: ‘In what world are you living.’

Kento: ‘.... Tsubasa, since you are the organizer, won’t you be busy with the preparations?’

Tsubasa: ‘It’s planned that I will be in charge of welcoming the invited guests and taking care of them.’

Kento: ‘That’s hard. Yuta, don’t get lost and cause trouble for Tsubasa.’

Yuta: ‘It’s ok, it’s ok ~! It’s the same venue from last year, right? It’s going to be alright!’

Goshi: ‘No insecurity, huh…’

Tsubasa: ‘A, Ahaha….’

Part 2

Tsubasa came to pick up THRIVE for their work in the morning.

Tsubasa: ‘Good morning, everyone. I came to pick you up.’

Goshi: ‘Morning.’

Kento: ‘Morning, Tsubasa.’

Yuta: ‘Good morning!’

Tsubasa: ‘...?’

(Yuta-kun seems to be different than usual…)

Tsubasa: ‘Uhm, Yuta-kun… Did something happen?’

Yuta: ‘Nothing happened!’

Tsubasa: ‘But..’

Yuta: ‘It’s nothing!’

Tsubasa: ‘....’

Kento: ‘It’s ok, leave him alone. After the talk about the party, I only said he should be careful not to get lost.’

Goshi: ‘He doesn’t even understand the meaning behind it.’

Yuta: ‘I know what that means!’

Yuta: ‘Come on, Tsubasa-chan! Let’s go to today’s location --!’

Tsubasa: ‘Y-Yes.’

(But, Yuta-kun’s expression today is quite stiff. He won’t be able to shoot like that...)

Tsubasa: ‘Uhm, Yuta-kun…’

Yuta: ‘Yes! What is it!’

Tsubasa: ‘... Your facial expression, can you return it to normal? You won’t be able to do the shooting as it is…’

Yuta: ‘My usual expression…’

He is surprised at her question.

Yuta: ‘My usual expression…! Like this! This!’

Kento: ‘....Puh, Yuta what’s with this face? Haha…’

Goshi: ‘It’s not bad.’

Even Goshi can give a small smile.

Yuta: ‘That’s not true--!’

(Yuta-kun, you are doing your best but your change of expression was forced, hence the strange face…)

Tsubasa: ‘Yuta-kun, I think it’s good to be careful to not get lost but... Because of those thoughts, what makes Yuta-kun unique, disappeared… You know, it’s fine to do your usual expression?’

Yuta: ‘But…’

Tsubasa: ‘At the party I will be careful, so I ask Yuta-kun to stay as Yuta-kun, having fun with everyone and eat to your heart’s content.’

Yuta: ‘... Is it really okay? I probably will cause trouble for Tsubasa-chan…’

Tsubasa: ‘Yes, it’s fine. It is my job to protect the fans’ beloved Yuta-kun.’

Kento: ‘In the first place, with Yuta’s head, it’s impossible for him to be serious, and he is a stubborn idiot. Quite the boring man, right?’

Goshi: ‘Well, if it’s him, he might be discharged’, Goshi adds.

Kento: ‘There’s no doubt.’

Yuta: ‘Eeeh--! That’s not good--! I’m sorry, Tsubasa-chan! I will return to my usual self! Though I probably will still get lost…’

Tsubasa: ‘It is alright if you get lost. Please be the usual Yuta-kun.’

Yuta: ‘Yes! Aah, I suddenly got hungry when I acted weird. Hey, Tsubasa-chan, can we stop by a convenience store before we go to the location?’

Tsubasa: ‘Yes, that will be fine since we still have time left. Let’s stop by while we are on the way to the place.’

Yuta: ‘Waah! If we go to the convenience store, what should I buy ~ Pudding is good as well, but it’s hard to discard cream puffs too ~’

The previous gloominess is replaced by excitement.

Goshi: ‘Oi, the car’s not that way.’

Yuta: ‘Eh, oh??’

Kento: ‘There he’s getting lost at once, really. In a way, he’s a genius…’

(Getting lost is hard however… It’s good that the usual Yuta-kun is back.)

Part 3

Yuta: ‘Yeah--! I’m the first to arrive ~ ♪’

Kento: ‘And who was on the verge of crying because they were lost in the party hall?’

Goshi: ‘As expected, you got lost again this time.’

Yuta: ‘Hee, it’s a miracle, right ~?’

Goshi: ‘Don’t ‘Hee’ me.’

Kento: ‘Yuta, you were found by Tsubasa, right?’

Tsubasa: ‘A,haha… No way, to get lost like that…’

Yuta: ‘If there are a lot of people, you can’t know the way ~’

Yuta says with a rather sad expression.

Goshi: ‘No, you getting lost, doesn’t have anything to do with other people.’

Yuta: ‘It’s no good when I got lost --, I won’t be able to see everyone again-- ! At that time I became sad at that thought. I was so happy that Tsubasa-chan came ~!’

Tsubasa: ‘I was also restless when I lost sight of Yuta-kun but I am glad that we reunited.’

Yuta: ‘The place where I met Tsubasa had a really beautiful night view, right ♪’

Tsubasa: ‘Yes, it surely was.’

Yuta: ‘We watched the night view together for a while but time passed by in the blink of an eye ~’

Tsubasa: ‘If Yuta-kun hadn’t got lost, we wouldn’t be able to see that scenery, right.’

Yuta: ‘That’s true!’

He answers in a happy tone and a blush.

Kento: ‘Wait a minute, isn’t that a date? Stealing a march on others isn’t good, Yuta’

Goshi: ‘Don’t cause trouble and end up enjoying it.’

Yuta: ‘Hee! Tsubasa-chan, really, thank you for today! It’s difficult getting lost all the time. But for the first time, I thought that it isn’t too bad.’

Tsubasa: ‘Me too, that I was able to see that night view, I have to thank Yuta-kun for getting lost.’

Yuta: ‘Yea--h!’

Goshi: ‘Geez, always getting carried away so fast.’

Kento: ‘But, well… That time when he was careful to not get lost wasn’t bad. He was more like a stubborn idiot.’

Goshi: ‘Yeah, I agree.’

Yuta: ‘I see, I see! Then… From now on I will get lost even more, so I’ll be in your care, everyone!’

Kento: ‘... Haa, Yuta…’

Goshi: ‘You, feel a bit sorry!’

Yuta: ‘Ehh ~?’

Tsubasa: ‘A,haha….’

(It will be troublesome in the future as well… But getting lost belongs to Yuta-kun’s personality so it will be fine.)

[Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Goyat’s Super 10 on return fires U.P. Yoddha into the playoffs Returning raider Monu Goyat scored 11 raid points as U.P. Yoddha defeated Dabang Delhi K.C. 50-33 in their first home match. U.P. Yoddha sealed the final spot in the vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 7 playoffs with a 50-33 win over Dabang Delhi K.C. at their home venue of the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida on Saturday. Dabang Delhi K.C. fielded a fresh starting seven which was missing stars like Naveen Kumar, Ravinder Pahal and Joginder Narwal, and Monu Goyat used the opportunity to return to form in his comeback match with a Super 10. Shrikant Jadhav and Monu Goyat reduced Dabang Delhi K.C. down to three men within the first three minutes of the match. A Super Tackle on Surender Gill delayed the All Out for Dabang Delhi K.C. but Goyat continued his fine start and put in two more successful raids to finally inflict it three-minutes later. Sombir showed some resistance in defence by sending Jadhav to the bench and he found support in Neeraj Narwal, who reduced the score difference down to five with a Super Raid. But Goyat’s excellent raiding continued, with Jadhav and Gill scoring regularly as well, giving U.P. Yoddha a 22-12 lead going into halftime. The second period saw more good work from Goyat, who brought up his Super 10 in just the second raid of the half, to reduce Dabang Delhi K.C. down to a solitary man. Nitesh Kumar made short work of Sheykh to inflict another All Out on Dabang Delhi K.C. and extend U.P. Yoddha’s lead to 12. Sombir and Neeraj Narwal kept up the fight for Dabang Delhi K.C., with the latter putting in another Super Raid to bring U.P. Yoddha on the verge of an All Out in the sixth minute. However, Ashu Singh’s tackle on Neeraj and Jadhav’s two-point raid turned it around once again. Sombir’s Super Tackle on Goyat gave the defender his High 5 and, on the other side of the mat Nitesh Kumar, too, brought up his High 5 just a couple of minutes later. As the last man on the mat for Dabang Delhi K.C., Sombir picked up a bonus before being tackled by Sumit, as the visitors succumbed to yet another All Out with five minutes left to play. Young Neeraj Narwal, who was playing just the third match of his vivo Pro Kabaddi career, brought up his Super 10 with his third Super Raid of the night, but the home side’s consistent work gave them a 17-point win in the end and a place in the playoffs.
