When you feel tired and upset about the psychos of Tel Mithryn just leaving Varona out to rot in front of the entrance.

idk there’s just something very dark and a bit tragic about the whole tel mithryn situation... all the people there. what happens. what happened

neloth, who doesn’t care about pretty much anything or anyone. will do anything for the advancement of knowledge and the acquisition of power. neloth, who killed his apprentice; neloth, who didn’t mourn her; who didn’t tell talvas what happened to make ildari hate him so much, but who nevertheless treats talvas like less than dirt

talvas, who doubtless wanted better. who suffers, who denies his suffering, because he has this dream. but the dream is of power, and glory, and it’s at once a naive and optimistic sort of hope, and a terribly dark side to a man who doesn’t seem like he should have one

elynea, here because nobody else has use for the one thing which gives her life meaning. elynea, who hates neloth. who puts up with him because she’s never had anything else, really. who left her family behind in the ash, who lives almost alone at the edge of the world

varona, who died. elynea misses her. neloth does not. replaced her immediately. saw her in terms of the quality of her tea. sees drovas likewise. drovas, who’s only here because he’s running from worse

it doesn’t fit. none of them fit. they’re just here, trying to hold the place together, sometimes literally. some of them still think they can achieve great things. some of them just don’t know what else they could be doing. fragments, united pretty much solely by dislike of neloth

neloth, whom they know to be capable of horrible, horrible things. things they don’t know about, or simply won’t speak about. this unspeakable thing lingering for twenty years. of course something had to give. it’s astounding ildari was the only one who cracked

Does Neloth really not have a last or second part to his name?

Like even Nazir has a last name that we never hear ingame (I assume). Some Dark Elves like Teldryn Sero, Ralis Sedarys, Talvas Fathryon, Varona Nelas, Drovas Relvi, Brand Shei, Romlyn Dreth, even the damn kitchen and apothecary servant at Tel Mithryn have last names! And Varona is dead! As far as I know it's not a wealth, class, clan or nickname thing (ex Lonely Gale) like how it seems to be for the Nords. So why does Neloth, Master of House Telvani, Master Wizard, not have a last name?

I mean I know not all Dark Elves have a last name, like Erandur. But still. Unless it just isn't appearing in the wiki, which is where I found out Nazir has a last name. But looking up Erandur nothing like a last name comes up. So he may not have one. But why does someone like Neloth not have one?

Imsin the Dreamer: The outcast Telvanni Varona Nelas is blackmailing a Buoyant Armiger. Varona Nelas has an embroidered glove which was given to this Buoyant Armiger as a token of affection. It would cause a scandal if it were known that they are lovers. Go to Assumanu, which is southeast of Ald Redaynia, and recover the glove at all costs.

Varona Nelas: I like you. Here take it. Ilmeni Dren of Vivec gave this to a Buoyant Armiger, and she'd hate for that secret to get out. Do what you will with it, I have more important things to deal with then this sad love affair.

My headcanon is the Buoyant Armiger in question is Dreyns Nelas in Molag Mar. It's possible he is an ex Telvanni who joined the Armigers in order to fight evil and make the world better, rather than the typical Redoran who joined because it's a common career choice. Ilmeni would approve.

Varona is probably a bit short on funds as she is an outcast hiding in the middle of nowhere. She might have approached Dreyns asking for money and when he refused, she took the glove to gain leverage over him.

Another possibility is Dreyns found out about the relationship between Ilmeni and another armiger and stole the glove, handing it over to a shady Telvanni relative. I don't like this scenario though. It doesn't make as much sense and it's needlessly complicated.

anyway elynea mothren and varona nelas are/were the only things holding tel mithryn together -- both figuratively and literally. absolute legends, the both of them
