Iso Rivolta Fidia, 1969. After Iso founder Renzo Rivolta passed away in 1966, his son Piero took over the company with a mission to grow the brand and fill out Iso’s product portfolio. The Fidia was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, then at Ghia, who built the car using a stretched version of the Iso Grifo platform. The early "S4" cars were plagued by poor quality fit and finish and the car was relaunched in 1969 as the Iso Rivolta Fidia with changes including the replacement of the S4's 4 square headlamps with circular units. It remained in production until 1975 by which time 192 had been made. Most were powered by Chevrolet's 327ci V8 but later cars used Ford's 351ci Cleveland V8

Bentley Turbo R ‘Empress II’ (1 of 5).
Underneath this rare Bentley coupe sits the chassis and running gear from Bentley’s Turbo R. So that means a big, 6.75-litre turbo V8, around 400bhp and 0–60mph in six seconds. The topside however, is totally bespoke. Welcome to the 1991 Bentley Turbo RL Empress II Coupe: one of just five models ever built, and also one of the oddest-looking Bentleys in existence. Odd, but in an interesting way. Hooper & Company is responsible for the coachwork, constructed entirely from aluminium, turning the four-door Turbo RL saloon into a really long two-door rarity. H&C built stuff for the royal family, so it’s proper. This particular car is the fourth of five Empress IIs built, of which two were left-hand-drive. It comes with that unique bodywork, electric front and rear seats, a sports steering wheel, a sunroof, 12-speaker Alpine stereo and even a cocktail cabinet because, hey, it’s a big Bentley.

The problem with writing about Andrew's love of cars is that Nora didn't know anything about cars.
Take Andrew's original car for example: a Lexus GS is a very EXPENSIVE car yes, but look at it in 2003!
Tumblr media
It's what a business exec buys not a speedfreak little shit head blowing his abusive mom's life insurance when the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo existed.
Tumblr media
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, usually called an Evo, is the obnoxious boy racer car. Look at it in matte black and tell me 17 year old Andrew Minyard didn't blow every penny he had on 0-60 mph in 5 seconds, all-wheel drive asshole machine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Equally the only 5 seater Maserati on the market in 2007 was the Quattroporte which is just another CEOs towncar with a V8.
Tumblr media
If you were going European imported sports saloon (which a touch out of character anyway) in that year the Jaguar S-type is right there!! You don't need to speak car to see it.
Tumblr media
However, assuming he wouldn't have replaced his Evo which the even faster Evo that came out in 2007 (0-60 in 3.9, a full 5 seconds faster than that years Porsche) then why go European sports saloon conservative if Andrew could get a suped up Ford Mustang GT with 4.6 ltr V8 (0-60 in 5 seconds with 13.7 second quarter mile) that looks like every cop in 80 miles going to hate you on principle instead of I'm on my way to an important merger.
Tumblr media
I rest my case.

AMG S63 E PERFORMANCE „The Boss“.
Mercedes-AMG S63 E PERFORMANCE (combined fuel consumption, weighted: 4.4 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions, weighted: 100 g/km; combined power consumption, weighted: 21.4 kWh/100 km)[1] with AMG hybrid technology once again sets the benchmark in the segment. The E PERFORMANCE model combines the AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine with the AMG-specific hybrid powertrain and a new expansion stage of the AMG high-performance battery.
The focus of the powertrain, however, is less on electric range and more on best-in-class performance. With 590kW (802hp) of system output and 1430Nm of system torque, the saloon sets new standards in the segment. The acceleration of 3.3 seconds to 100km/h and the optional top speed of 290km/h underline the superior, dynamic driving performance. Systems such as the AMG RIDE CONTROL+ suspension, AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL roll stabilisation and rear-axle steering as standard ensure a wide spread between driving dynamics and comfort.
A central component of the P3 hybrid powertrain is the AMG 4.0 V8 biturbo engine, in this case producing 450kW (612hp). It provides a maximum torque of 900Nm, which is available over a wide speed range. The engine's most important design features include the two twin-scroll turbochargers, which are located in the hot inner-V. The position between the two cylinder banks shortens the paths of the exhaust gases to the turbocharger and the compressed fresh air to the combustion chamber.
The result is a very immediate response. Another important feature is the belt-driven starter-generator (RSG), which is integrated into the 400-volt electrical system. This combines the starter and alternator into one unit, and has sufficient power to always start the V8 at once.

What would you consider the best, most reliable, low maintenance car? Bonus points for affordability. After having to take my 2011 Corsa to the garage for the fourth time this year due to a faulty temp sensor (this car just runs on a constant fever I swear. I'm in the UK for goodness sakes it shouldn't get that hot!!!), I'm curious as to whether there are any cars that don't have expiry dates outside of carefully maintained classics.
Well someone's not read my shooting brake post that thoroughly eh! :P
Jokes aside, I've touched on reliability a couple of times so those could be interesting reads for you, but I can tell you that, you'll hear it a lot, Toyota Land Cruisers are usually what you see when a dozen people need to cross a desert and camels aren't an option. And I cannot talk about the durability of old Toyotas without bringing up a piece of television that has been burned into my mind from when I was six or seven to this day and has never faded or faltered in clarity for a single of the seconds between them. Like, genuinely, you go pay me a visit eight years since I last saw it to hit me with a trick question about shot composition details and as you open the door shouting it you walk in on me losing my virginity and I shoo you away yelling "Piss off with your trick questions, I'm getting laid here".
youtube
youtube
youtube
But in terms of advice that is more actionable for you, I would as noted in other posts advise Toyotas and Hondas, and by extension Toyota's luxury brand Lexus (but please don't consider this advice against anything else, especially because these brands, Toyota and Lexus especially, have in some contexts developed a bit of a premium due to their reputation). And I know what you're thinking: "Mate I've a Corsa ya think I could get me a Lexus?" And the answer is yes. And other positively splendid pieces of kit.
I mean, you can find yourself plenty of first generation Lexus LSs in various states of rattiness, and one of those most famously did literally a million miles so I'm pretty sure you're going to be good on that front.
...but if you're not in the extremely lucky position of ULEZ compliance not being a dealbreaker, while looking for those, I also found some second generations...
...and I saw an ad for a third generation, and you know when you see an item and a price and you go through the description just to find out what the deal is and as you comb through you slowly realize that the part where they explain how this is not actually a functioning, usable product isn't there you start whispering "what the fuck? what the fuck?" and you put your hands in your hair and- yeah this is that level. Like genuinely I do not CARE if you were not asking purchasing advice and are not interested in changing your car you go phone your insurance for a quote and if it is anything below "This insurance price will actually ruin my life" you go click on that "Buy it now" button before someone else does.
But of course you may want a smaller car, what with coming from a Corsa and all that. Well, if that's the case, there's a little beauty that you're going to love love, and needs no TLC you and my help can't tackle. Remember my kei sportscars post? Well guess what it just so happens to turn out:
(if you are actually interested in getting a new car but have requirements these don't fulfill don't hesitate to drop me a line, there is little I love more than window shopping car ads and I have plenty other great ideas. If you want a new car you are going to end up with something cool whether you like it or not.)
Links in blue are posts of mine explaining the words in question - if you liked this post, you might like those!

This is an appreciation post, pure and simple.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This house loves and cherishes its E34 5 Series friends, especially 1-owner survivors with V8s and 6-speeds (yes, you read that right! The E34 530i was in fact a V8 for a time - it did start life as an I6 earlier in the generation, but late examples like this 1995 were fitted with a low-displacement V8 that delivered smoother, more linear power, and a whole lotta more smiles when paired with BMW's quick shifter and snappy manual gearbox)!
The E34 represented a lot of firsts for the 5, including the introduction of the V8 for the first time in BMWs midsize saloon, the introduction of AWD to line in the 525iX, rudimentary stability (ASC) and traction control (ASC+T) programmes for enhanced control, and rack and pinion steering in AWD models (mostly for packaging and logic) for superior driveability!
It goes without saying that the design of the E34 is one that has stood strongly against the test of time and continues to garner well-deserved recognition for its subtle cues, muscular traits, and elegant proportions. The distinctively aggressive front fascia coupled with the gentler gradation on all of its sharper corners (compared to previous generations), and the stoic, upright design of the tail end really makes the E34 a standout in a sea of bland sameness all too common for the era.
And while I personally hold the E39 in the highest esteem of design and refinement - at least as far as the 5 Series goes - there's no doubt the E34 will go down among BMW's greatest achievements of all time.
And this one is one of its best surviving non-M examples!

🇬🇧 Enter the realm of automotive legend with the Rover SD1, a marvel born from the collaborative genius of the Specialist Division and Austin Rover within British Leyland. Crowned the European Car of the Year in 1977, its "SD" moniker not only denotes "Specialist Division" but also heralds a new era of innovation as the inaugural masterpiece from the in-house design team.
🏗 Crafted in the hallowed halls of Solihull, the SD1 laid the foundation for the iconic Rover 800 in 1986, a testament to its enduring legacy. Meanwhile, the revered Rover V8 engine continued to roar with power until 2003, a symbol of uncompromising performance.
🚘 But the SD1's story transcends the showroom floor, igniting the passions of motorsport enthusiasts with its dominance in Group A touring car racing during the mid-1980s. From the thrilling victories at the RAC Tourist Trophy to the prestigious British Saloon Car Championship, the SD1 left an indelible mark on the racing circuit.
👨‍✈️ Beyond the racetrack, the SD1 emerged as the ultimate symbol of authority, serving as the vehicle of choice for UK police forces during the tumultuous decades of the 1970s and 1980s. From bustling city streets to expansive motorways, the SD1 stood as a guardian of law and order, commanding respect with its unparalleled presence.

CIMA IMPUL II
big game taste
Impuls version of Cima available now
Produced by Kazuyoshi Hoshino
Popular brand "IMPUL"
Cima wearing those Impul parts
Perfect for you who are looking for the real thing
Rather than Nissan
Japan's representative prestige server
Cima
FY32 type (old model) has its orthodox style
Equipped with a 4.1ℓ V8 it was
top class for customers
It was a superlative saloon.
Such a Cima has been
enhanced by
Popular brand Impul
If it comes to Impul's version,
For the luxury and formality of Cima,
Infused with racing spirit
It can be said that it is one of the sporty cars.
The times are for the real thing.
No more tricks and tricks.
I want to ask for the real thing even in the car.
I can confidently recommend it to you
How many cars are there?
For Cima, which has the top-class ability in Japan,
Impul with this added value,
I'm sure it's one of those few.
CIMA IMPUL A
Impul version of Cima now available
Hot eyes on the white pearl body!
The FY32 Cima has an orthodox and formal style. Length x Width x Height = 4945 x 1780 x 1435. The square form of the 5m big body is quite strong. With its imposing body fully painted in white pearl, and equipped with Impul front and rear aero bumpers, side steps, and rear spoiler, the Impal Cima is even more fearless and powerful. The wide front aero bumper is blacked out and the grille stands out. The specially made rear spoiler is also the best match for the simple rear view.
What's more, the feet are sharpened by a combination of Bridgestone G-grid and Impul RS aluminum. The car I test drove was a 4-year Type II-based Impul Cima, and the interior is a super-luxury version with full-featured navigation, airbags, electric seats on both sides, and active suspension.
The 4.1L V8 engine that generates 270PS is very smooth and powerful. It accelerates easily from over 100 km, and is one of the best at high-speed cruising. The BSG grid with high-grip tires handles high-level cornering with ease. What is impressive is its quietness. The quietness of about 2000 revolutions at 100km/h will make you addicted once you get on. In addition to the quiet and solid running, the secret is that if you feel like it, you can enjoy a sporty run that puts the sports car to shame. There is no dissatisfaction at all because the interior is a top-class saloon. The seat with sufficient space is not only comfortable to sit on, but also has a high hold. The rear seats are also spacious. Plenty of space around the head and knees
It is comfortable with good clearance.
When I was driving on the highway, I was often stared at.
There are many drivers who can. This is also Impul Cima armed with Impul parts
They probably won't.
The price to be worried about will change depending on the price of the base car, but it is said that it will be about half the price when an individual dresses up with this many parts. As another form of Japan's representative prestige saloon, the Impul is full of charm as a vehicle that gives you a taste of the real thing. If you are looking for a second hand old Cima, or if you are looking for the real thing, this is the one that will surely satisfy you. In addition to Impul 500S there is also a more elegant type available. e

The grill is blacked out to differentiate it from normal. Aero bumper is a unique and powerful image
Impul side steps tighten the side view. It is said that the rectification effect is adjusted smoothly.
The combination of 4 5-spoke Impul aluminum wheels and high-grip Bridgestone G grids is very attractive.
An Impul rear spoiler that suppresses the lifting of the body at high speeds and contributes to driving stability. Key cylinder is smoothed

What a difference 72 years makes juxtaposition of Porsche 542, 1952 & Porsche Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid, 2024. The new third generation Panamera has been revealed but the first 4-door Porsche dates back to the 1950s when Studebaker commissioned Porsche to develop a new saloon for them. The 542 was rear engined powered by a V6 engine (a new configuration at the time) but went to further than a few prototypes. The new Panamera offers Active Ride suspension and has a 4.0 V8 based hybrid drivetrain that has a combined output of 680 PS

Maserati Quattroporte (1968).
This vehicle, unveiled at the Turin motor show in the autumn of 1963, was Maserati's first Quattroporte – a vehicle so groundbreaking and unique that its success would last through the decades. The elegant lines, large size, luxury trim, cutting-edge technical solutions and extraordinary performance of the Maserati Quattroporte immediately made it an object of desire for the era's upper classes. • The 4,135 cc V8 engine developed 260 hp, giving the car a top speed of 240 km/h (150 mph) without compromising on driving comfort, making it “the fastest mass-production saloon in the world” The vehicle offered an exceptional level of driver and passenger comfort, higher than competitors, thanks to its luxurious finish, electric windows, five-speed transmission, four disc brakes and numerous other options which were almost unheard of at the time. This vehicle was manufactured by Vignale in Turin, to a design by Pietro Frua.
