Unveiled as a successor to Koenigsegg’s first production supercar, the CC8S, the 50 in the CC850′s name refers to the number of cars that will be built and the age of founder Christian von Koenigsegg. Powered by their 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 delivering 1,185 hp on gasoline or 1,385 hp on E85 the car’s real party trick is the ESS, or the Engaged Shift System gearbox. The ESS allows for different gear ratios depending on the driving mode, offering a clutch operated 6-speed manual transmission that can also run as a 9-speed automatic.
