The girls are finally ready! Grace the Golden Sebright is completely hand made.
I cut the vague shape of a chicken out of clay with a craft knife, wait 24 hours for them to dry, then sand them down to smooth the surfaces. After that, a layer of gesso to make the paint sit nicely. Then comes the actual painting using acrylics.
Once that’s completely dry, a few layers of UV resin on each side to protect the clay. Curing the resin is pretty time consuming with no freaking SUN lmao.
Finally, I attached split rings to the hooks for extra security and put the whole thing together. 🌈

so!!! my first attempt at uv resin jewellery! a matching set for my bestie and myself hehehe
(for the record, the metal coin thingies are neither real antiques nor handmade; i believe skifska etnika used to sell them as earrings ages ago but not anymore)
Will be attempting to give this resin head some hair. (top: no glow, bottom left: glowing but the lights are on, bottom right: glowing and the lights are off) I started by drilling holes with a manual tool. But I've already run into a few of problems. I broke one of the drill bits already. The holes are blocked by resin shavings and will take a lot of time to clear. In theory making and inserting hair plugs will be tedious and I'm not sure how I'd glue them in. I may switch gears and cut channels instead. They should be easier to fill with fiber and result in a neater hairline.
Crystal-like fairy mushrooms made by Masakiya from UV resin and quartz(?). The sculptures look so glass like but just look at this video (the “boing” sound xD).
MGA's Miniverse is expanding rapidly (which is very MGA of them). In addition to the Lifestyle and Cafe/Diner balls, there is the kitchen and two new play packs: Ice Cream Social and Pizza Party.

They're on preorder for about $20. There are about 4 items to complete in the Ice Cream Social pack, but they share components and there are only two bottles of resin between them all and I think you get two pizzas, so I'm honestly not sure this is a better value than getting individual balls. The bonus? is a cardboard box.
The multi-pack is still a decent value vs individual balls, though, at $30 for 5 complete sets. This is a great option if you want to try out lots of different types of the food kits without having to risk dupes.

@cosmomoore found this on MGA's website and I'm very excited by it:
Except for the price, of course... Oof.
That hasn't hit Amazon, yet, so no affiliate link there.
I can't really tell how many food kits you're getting to make a comparison of value vs the balls, but you do get a really cute display and storage case and look at those little crates!
I have to admit, though, that I don't understand the black and white furniture thing they're doing with miniverse.
You could probably DIY something similar with a bead storage box.
My very first pair of eyes! I learned A LOT ahaha and making things on such a small scale is bonkers but I'm so excited to keep learning and adding another skill into my doll repertoire! These are 4mm eyes in case anyone was curious! I can't wait to show how these look in Thistle's tiny little face. The use of the iridescent glitter flake really makes them glow which I think will help a ton at such a tiny scale. I also found my super tiny beads so I'm going to try these with a pupil as well.
How do people get white uv resin though? I had to paint these to be white and the second batch I pulled had too much alcohol ink and are squishy and won't cure. I just want a white base!
