Ladies of House Greyjoy:
Lorea*
*This is the eldest of three unnamed daughters of an unnamed Lord Greyjoy, as well as sisters or half-sisters of Dalton and Veron Greyjoy, two of which were slain alongside their husbands in 134 during Johanna Lannister's invasion of the Iron Islands. We don’t know her name so I’ve given her the name Lorea.

I find myself becoming intrigued by characters from ASOIAF who are mentioned once or twice in the narrative but have longer lasting implications.
Elbert Arryn has fascinated me for a while. He was Jon Arryn's nephew and was heir to the Vale. Until he joined Brandon Stark on that ill fated trip to King's Landing and was executed. It interests me to wonder what would have changed if he lived.
Would he marry Lysa instead of Jon? If so, would they have a happier marriage with more children (I think Lysa's fertility issues were actually Jon's, considering he had three wives but only one sickly son.)?
Or would there have been no need for a marriage with Lysa, seeing as Jon's marriage to her was motivated by the need for an heir, which Elbert surviving mitigates?
But then who would Elbert marry? He is the heir to House Arryn; there aren't many potential options for him. Possibly Asha Greyjoy? Or Arianne Martell?
Quellon Greyjoy is a new fascination for me. He was the Lord of the Iron Isles and the father of Balon, Euron, Victarion and Aeron. He was a reformer, discouraging raiding and the taking of saltwives, bringing maesters to the isles and more. He led the Iron Fleet in battle during Robert's Rebellion, on Robert's side, which is when he died.
The main question with Quellon is how did this guy, who by all accounts was attempting to make the Iron Isles a decent place, father four sons so unlike that? Balon's a bitter asshole, Euron an eldritch horror, Victarion's just dumb and Aeron's a religious fanatic. How did that happen?
I also wonder if Quellon had any impact/influence on Theon and Asha. Going by the dates, Theon was 5 and Asha 10 when he died. Theon's relative decency compared to the rest of the Ironborn could just be that he was raised partially by Ned 'Honourable' Stark but Asha also seems relatively decent by Ironborn standards. Grandpa Quellon's influence perhaps?
The eldest Dayne sibling, the elder brother of Arthur, Ashara and Allyria (personally I like to call him Alford, to complete the name scheme the Dayne parents were clearly going for), intrigues me.
What does he know? Does he know anything about Ashara and her supposedly stillborn baby? Or about Arthur and his prophecy plans with Rhaegar?
Why did he nickname his son Ned, after Ned Stark killed his brother and was potentially involved in his sister's death via knocking her up with the aforementioned stillborn babe? I sure as hell wouldn't be giving my child the same nickname as the man who was involved in the deaths of two of my three siblings. So why did he?

*characters whose hair is described in the povs of starks (or jon snow) who only use the terms auburn or red-brown for catelyn, robb, sansa etc. and do not compare said characters to said tully-haired relations
**characters whose hair is described by tyrion lannister, who spent significant time with sansa and exclusively referred to her hair as auburn (without anyone else telling him her hair color as catelyn told brienne)
the only asoiaf characters ever described as having auburn hair:
catelyn tully stark
robb stark (red-brown/auburn tully hair "so like" his mother's, with a beard redder than his hair)
sansa stark (auburn hair lighter than her mother's, most reddish glowing in candlelight)
brandon "bran" stark (hair not bright red enough for him to distinguish himself from young benjen at first glance in a weirwood flashback)
rickon stark
brynden "the blackfish" tully (once auburn hair gone to grey)
edmure tully (auburn hair with a fiery beard, likely brighter than his hair like robb's)
lysa tully arryn baelish
known tully descendants never described as having auburn hair
arya stark (darker brown stark-colored hair)
hoster tully (hair and beard gone from brown to brown streaked with grey to white as snow)
robert "sweetrobin" arryn (fine brown hair, thought by sansa to be his best feature)
fun fact: the only other character that i can find to ever even be descibed as having red-brown hair in the main series is rowan, one of the spearwives who accompanied mance on his mission to winterfell. (described by theon, who had psychological reasons not to think of any hair-resemblance to robb and co.)
tl;dr i suppose my point here is that auburn hair in the real world may be a term thrown around wildly as a fancier way of saying red hair, but grrm and his westerosi creations seem to keep to a much more specific (true) definition. not just specific, almost entirely unique to a certain family, a weird mutation passing down their line somewhat inexplicably, like the magic platinum hair of the targaryens. (ned stark's 4 tully-haired kids being sorta like alicent hightower's 4 targ-haired kids where nobody can really explain why it was so dominant.) except it's actually more unique to the tullys than either black hair to the baratheons or silver hair to the targaryens, with the velaryons also having valyrian hair as well as some people in the essosi free cities too. which i guess makes rowan the wildling the equalivent of an unknown dragonseed or a lysene woman who could pass as a targ, and regular brown-haired hoster and sweetrobin the equivalent of regular blonde-haired alysanne and alyssa targaryen. so the next time someone calls the tullys lame or whatever, just remember that in-universe they're actually more special than the dragonriders, at least hairwise.

the povs of the wars of conquest
similar to my “povs of robert’s rebellion” gonna do an aegon’s conquest one since they announced the show let me REST tho jfc but this one is a bit more meta-y at the end
to keep up with the "no PoVs from the kings" theme, these are the ones we should not have:
Aegon the Conquerer (duh)
Argilac Durrandan
Harren the Black
Torrhen Stark
Mern Gardener
Loren Lannister
Meria Nymeros Martell
However, what’s interesting about the conquest is that power is changing hands a lot, whole lines are being wiped out while others are shooting up in importance, so I have two sections of PoVs we could have.
First are PoVs I think we would need:
Visenya Targaryen
Rhaenys Targaryen
Orys Baratheon
Sharra Arryn
Argella Durrandan
Brandon Snow
Patrice Hightower
Ser Joffrey Dayne
Jon Mooton
Marla Sunderland
Quentyn Qoheris
Daemon Velaryon
Second are PoVs I’m Kind of Conflicted Over
Nymor Nymeros Martell
Deria Nymeros Martell
Edmyn Tully
Harlan Tyrell
Theo Tyrell
Vickon Greyjoy
some explanation - The thing is, we don’t typically get The Heir’s PoV or The Lord’s PoV if that heir/lord is likely to inherit without any sort of succession issue - we don’t get Robb in AGOT bc he’s the clear cut successor, but we DO get his father bc Ned came into his seat after A Series Of Unfortunate Events (also the plot doesn’t work without Ned). We don’t get a peek into Tywin’s mind but we do look at each Lannister child. etc etc. But the second category of characters fit into a weird third category in my opinion.
Let’s start with Dorne. Since Nymor is clear cut as Meria’s oldest child and heir, takes his seat without any problems, and passes it to his oldest without any issues, he doesn’t really fit that pattern. But on the other hand. I think when you look at the Dornish rulers in the first century post conquest, Nymor stands out because he has no desire to keep the fight going while everyone around him does. Remember, Deria helps fund the Vulture King, Qoren fights against Daemon in the Stepstones, and Morion is a dumb ass but he is not the only Martell to make violent overtures right back at the Iron Throne; I’d argue Nymor is one of the only Martells not to fund some sort of proxy war! I think of all the Martells, he’d be the most fascinating to follow and watch Meria and Deria from. So I’m a bit stuck here. And there’s a similar argument against Deria - while she is involved in the Vulture King’s war, Deria rules in relative peace. There's nothing shocking about a woman inheriting her father's seat in Dorne, the way there would be elsewhere in Westeros that might justify giving her a spotlight.
Then we have the Tullys and Tyrells. The Tullys are an incredibly old and noble family but they have never been kings. And the Tyrells are famously a group of upjumped castellans, and the only family in the Reach that didn’t raise arms against House Targaryen during the Conquest. They are given rule over their respective areas of the Riverlands and the Reach because they are a good political pick, and not because of any kingly blood. We also need a Riverlander and Reacher PoV because there’s a lot of action going on in these areas. And while the Greyjoys certainly were known to have been Kings frequently, Vickon Greyjoy was not and did not expect to be any time soon.
I think the solution here is really obvious though - invent a few Davos and Catelyn characters. Give Nymor a wife who is involved in the politics of the War. Edmyn Tully has three unnamed daughters, one of whom marries Quentyn Qoherys - make her a PoV. But at the same time, these would essentially just be Canon OCs, and like, idk, they don’t have the best track record with that. If this was a “George is gonna write an aegon’s conquest story” that’s one thing but someone else doing it is a bit eh. If it were George writing this, I think I’d want something like:
Visenya T. and ONLY her - i want Rhaenys and Aegon to remain a mystery
Orys Baratheon but i’m gonna bitch the whole time
Quentyn Qoherys
Jon Mooton
Argella fucking Durrandan
Brandon Snow
Patrice Hightower - this is Ceryse’s aunt, the one reputed to be a witch who died an unmarried maid. she would have been a youngish girl during the Conquest; she and Manfred, Ceryse’s father, don’t have canon ages, and since Ceryse is born in 2 AC, you can probably get away with anything from like 10-25 for either of them. Also, I think Patrice would just be really fun to follow, think of the witch on witch crime between her and Visenya!!
Marla Sunderland
Ser Joffrey Dayne
Nymor’s wife, and I think making her an Orphan of the Greenblood (considering Rhaenys' first act of violence in Dorne is to burn Plankytown) would be the best narrative choice.
Edmyn Tully’s first born daughter - potentially she is his heir presumptive bc he’s not mentioned as having any sons or grandsons or even brothers. Also, it’s not specified which daughter married Qoherys, and we don’t have a named Tully Lord until Prentys Tully & Lucinda Broome during Maegor’s reign, so there’s some wiggle room to do something fun here.
Once again, we don't have any "Road trip from hell" stories here a la Arya, Brienne, and Egg and also not a lot of lowborn PoVs so an idea I had that I thought would be something George would like is having a female warrior from Cracklaw Point - Visenya promises them they would be sworn directly to the Targaryens and not anyone else, and given how often Visenya is at Dragonstone (and Cracklaw Point is very close by, especially if she's riding Vhagar), I think it fits within Visenya's story if she had a some sort of female warrior similar to Jonquil Darke or Brienne of Tarth that followed her through the second half of the conquest to fit the "wandering noble tours the realm and sees life is kind of ass" stories George loves to do.
I think it would be a great idea to have an Iron Islander PoV as well especially given that Aegon requires the Iron Islanders to allow Septons and Maesters into their territory in an attempt to convert them (and probably to educate them as well, i'm sure the literacy rates in the Iron Islands are the worst in the realm, lol lmao) and I think that whole story would be much more affecting if we got an Iron Islander PoV. I think some Salt Wife's PoV here would be particularly fun (or horrific) to follow.

Thank you for replying! This is the List anon from earlier.
1) I am still rotating Quenlyn in my head. Lately, I have been imagining her dropped into one of those panfandom games on Dreamwidth, because Quen learning her 'canonical' fate would be tragic and dramatic. Not too mention the reactions of the canon characters.
I suspect that discovering that the basically entire North would condone her torture and enslavement would make Quen want to take Asha up on her offer of escape. And even if she trusts her Robb, learning that he would be capable of allowing it would be extremely disturbing.
2) Killing Euron would be a fun bonding activity for the Stark-Greyjoy-Harlaws. Just putting that out there.
Alannys and Aeron's scene was so sad already, but then I realized that she doesn't know what happened to her sort-of son. And so it was even worse!
Thanks again!
Hello again! It's always lovely to hear from y'all ❤️ I am always turning Quen around in my mind like a rotisserie chicken. We are kin in that.
#1 It's so good to know I'm not crazy, cause I'm also always putting Quen in Scenarios, including incredibly meta scenarios with her ironborn ancestors/future descendants, or just thinking about what Theon+Quen would make of each other. (I've also very seriously considered where Quen/Theon would fall in terms of the "Would You Fuck Your Clone?" question. No comment.)
Quen learning about her canonical fate would be straight-up diabolical, especially Robb's ambivalence about it. To be fair to Robb, Theon did betray him personally and "murder" his brothers, so he's totally allowed to want Theon dead as hell. That said, Robb does not seem particularly bothered about Theon being tortured during his captivity, as evidenced by the piece of skin that Roose gives Catelyn. While Robb begins the series as sensitive, hot-headed, stressed, grieving, etc., duty is always the death of love. Kingship corrupts, and it ate away at Robb the boy until there was nothing left. Robb the boy fears for and misses his sisters, but King Robb cannot trade Jaime for Sansa. Kingship as a burden, a condemnation, always hits for me ngl.
I also recently responded to some meta about Theon & Robb on my other (generally pretty unserious) blog, specifically about the Wildling Incident and the power dynamic between them. This gets addressed in Sow the Tide, but it's something that Robb himself has to grapple with, something that he has to face/fully acknowledge/do the work on. Quen is Very Much Aware of the difference in power between them, but Robb slowly comes to understand it too, in a way that canonical ACOK Robb never did.
#2 It would, wouldn't it? 👀 I won't lie, Euron is probably one of my favorite characters in asoiaf, just because he's just so fucked. Sinister and bizarre (and honestly pretty funny), and of course deeply, deeply evil. I thought it would be hilarious if he genuinely, completely flopped at the kingsmoot. In Sow the Tide, he isn't even the one to kick off the insane bloodbath! For all that Euron stokes chaos/sows discord on the Iron Islands, it quickly becomes apparent that he doesn't have as tight a leash on the ironborn as he thought. He very much sees the ironborn as a means to an end/beneath him, and he doesn't concern himself with any of their history or petty grievances (which comes back to bite him, specifically the murder of Sawane Botley). Euron's not a god (not yet at least lol. Fingers crossed for TWOW!), and the ironborn have got their own shit going on.
It's kinda sad that Alannys and Aeron don't seem to have much of a relationship at all in canon, as I think they have a lot of potential! I went with the lower estimate for Aeron's age (making him around 30), so he would be born around the same time as Rodrik Greyjoy. In the canon that exists in my head (co-developed with goddcoward), Alannys' mother (Gillayne Farwynd) died/disappeared mysteriously sometime before Alannys married Balon, so Balon's mother, Quellon's unnamed Sunderly wife, was something of a mother figure to her.
I believe it was goddcoward who came up with the name "Ygraine", but we had a great time coming up with ironborn names together (with some invaluable input from Ashen_Onion!). Based on the few canonical female ironborn names we're given (chiefly, Alannys, Gwynesse, Gysella, and Helya), the letter "Y" is commonly used, so I kinda just went from there. So we've got Ygraine, Ysolde, Ynys, etc. (I've also got an 'Yngrid' hidden somewhere in the extended Iron Islands family trees I've been working on). Plus a lot of the other female ironborn names I (partially) made up use a "Y": Marys, Brinfryd, Edythe, Alyce. It mirrors the preponderance of "Q" male names among the ironborn: Quellon, Qhored, Qhorin, Qhorwyn, Qarl, Qarlon, etc.
You can tell I've thought about some of this stuff way too much. Like, I noticed that "Pinchface" Jon Myre had an unusually plain, non-ironborn-ish name (Jon), so I made up the bit about him and Jessamyn Myre (one of my random ironborn lady OCs) both having riverland mothers. I also wonder if thralls give their freeborn (grand)children more traditionally "ironborn" names so they're better able to mesh with/rise in ironborn society (for instance, Qarl the Maid). But I'm already rambling, so I'll stop there lol.
Anyway, thank you for dropping by! I always love asks ❤️

Life Expectancies for Mothers of ASOIAF's POV characters: Maths of Ice & Fire.
The average lifespan for the mother of an ASOIAF POV characters is 44 years, with a secondary calculation (removing a statistical outlier amongst the group) lowering life expectancy to 38 years & 6 months.
For the purposes of these calculations, women whose exact ages can only be approximated were included as "averaged out" figures from their assumed age range.
Dates & age calculations were gathered from the Wiki of I&F, with any personal extrapolations are written out when used.
Extended Biographical calculations & speculations built thereon below cut.
Dead Mums
• Lady Lyarra Stark of Winterfell, b. ~215 AC. Died between 267 & 299 AC, aged 52~74.
• Lady Minisa Whent of Riverrun, b. [244] AC*. Died between 268–278 AC, aged 18 at minimum.
*[minisa's husband hoster, b. 238-240 AC, became lord tully in 264 AC, aged ~25. as the 1stborn son of a lord paramount, hoster was likely trothed and wed in a Timely Fashion - likely around 259 AC. minisa can thusly be assumed as being ~15 in 259 AC. all this puts minisa as being at least 24 in her earliest deathdate, especially since hoster never remarried.]
• Lady Catelyn Tully of Winterfell, b. 264/265 AC. Died in 299, aged 35-ish.
• Lyanna Stark of Winterfell died in 283 AC, aged 16.
• Queen Rhaella Targaryen, b. 245-247 AC. Died in 284 AC, aged 38-ish.
• Lady Joanna Lannister of Casterly Rock, b. 244~252 AC. Died in 273 AC, aged 21~39.
• unnamed Lady of Evenfall Hall, b. <263 AC^2. The Lady Tarth was at least 19** when she died, likely older.
**[brienne of tarth's older brother, galladon, was born between 275-277 AC. given that both be and brienne were healthy children, lady tarth was at least 15 for her first pregnancy. the earliest lady tarth could have died is in 284 AC. given that lord selwyn did not remarry, i'd assume lady tarth was older than the bare minimum age required of biology when she & Selwyn began siring heirs].
• unnamed Lady Sunderly of Pyke, b. [241~247] AC***. The mother of Balon, Euron, Victarion and Aeron Greyjoy died no earlier than 274 AC (aged 33~39), and no later than 282 AC (aged 41~47).
***[the eldest greyjoy brother, balon, was born between 255-261 AC. since his mother survived to birth 4 more sons who survived into adulthood, lady sunderly is unlikely to have been too young for her first pregnancy. aeron, the youngest of sunderly's children, was born in 269-274 AC. it is unknown when lady sunderly died but her husband, quellon, only had enough time with his next wife to father an infant or 2 before belatedly joining then dying in Robert's Rebellion: this could mean she had only died recently for quellon though i'm more inclined to believe lord greyjoy was late to remarry rather than the mother of the brothers greyjoy ceasing to exist to her family after aeron's birth].
[252 ÷ 8] = an average lifespan of 44 years.
By this calculation, rhe average life expectancy for the mother of a POV character is 44 years.
This result is less skewed by its shortest lifespan (16) bur very much by its "longest lived" dead mother (here approximated as dying at 66).
Since Lady Sunderly is a notable outlier & due to her unknown time&causr of death, a second calculation was made using the Assumption that Lady Sunderly died via childbirth at ~52 (sorry, Aeron).
The adjusted calcuation [248 ÷ 8] gives an average life expectancy of "38.5 years for mothers of ASOIAF's POV characters. This estimate seems more appropriate and, conveniently, lines up with the unlifespan of the Lady Catelyn.
38.5 years as an average does unfortunately bode poorly for the following women in the ASOIAF books:
• Lady Alannys Harlaw of Pyke, b. 254-261^4 AC. The recently widowed Lady Greyjoy is at least 39**** years old and lives with her brother Rodrik at his castle, Ten Towers. She correctly believes that her husband, King Balon, was murdered.
***[Theon's eldest brother was born between 267-274 AC, requiring Alannys to have been at least 14-16 to survive giving birth to the rest of Theon's dead older brothers, Asha, and then Theon himself.]
• Lady Melessa Florent of Horn Hill, b. [235-271]^5 AC. Lady Tarly is no younger than 30.
5. [Samwell Tarly was born in 283 AC & his mother survived to have 2 more kids]
• Lady Mellario of Norvos, b. 248~264 AC. The mother of the Princess & Princes Arianne, Quentyn, and Trystane Martell returned to Norvos due to becoming estranged with her husband, Prince Doran of Dorne. She is 36~42 years old.
• Lady Arwyn Oakheart of Old Oak, b. >260. The widow of Lord Oakheart, Lady Arwyn currently rules Old Oak and most recently pledged fealty to the Tyrells. This was and could be rather awkward for her son, Ser Arys of the Kingsguard. Lady Arwyn is at least 40.
While none of Queen Cersei Lannister's children have had POV chapters thus far, at 34 years old Cersei had best rid herself of her surviving children lest she too becomes a statistic! /j
Ommissions:
the unnamed mothers of Sers Davos Seaworth, Barristan Selmy, and Jon Connington.
the unnamed mother of Areo Hotah.
the unknown mother of Melisandre of Asshai.
the mothers of prologue or epilogue POV characters.

[ oktay cubuk, he/him, nonbinary ] — was that NADIR GULSE? the TWENTY-SIX year old is a GENTLEMAN & SHIP CAPTAIN, how exciting to see them this season! rumors have it they are EQUABLE and INTUITIVE, but i’ve heard they are BRAZEN and APATHETIC as well — maybe that’s why they’ve been called the MAVERICK. I have even heard that HE ARRIVED IN LONDON AN ASSASSIN IN DISGUISE —only time will tell.
— penned by karin.
⤷ &. INTRO
character summary: a gentleman (debatable) hailing all the way from antalya, turkey. just arrived in england a few months before the season started after his aunt and uncle wrote to his parents about opportunities aplenty in the country. sailed with his sibling(s) on his ship and is presently wishing that he could return to said ship and sail away again. his entire life is defined by the sea and his affinity for it. more sea beast than human, honestly. does not care for polite english society and wishes he could go swimming with sharks, but alas. here to stir some trouble because he's bored. also definitely not an assassin in disguise, but does nothing to quell any rumors.
inspiration: nikolai lantsov (if he was unhinged) — shadow & bone trilogy, house greyjoy — a song of ice and fire, this quote (in the context of wanting to go out with a bang) — the ghost bride.
aesthetic: eyes glittering in sunlight, the taste of sea salt, sharp teeth bared, a broken compass.
⤷ &. BASICS
full name: nadir gulse.
age: twenty-six.
place of birth: antalya, turkey.
gender: nonbinary.
pronouns: he/him.
sexual orientation: bisexual.
religion: born muslim; atheist.
family: arda & jale gulse (parents). three unnamed siblings.
languages: turkish (native), arabic (fluent), english (conversational), persian (rudimentary).
profession: captain of the iron kiss & rich kid. not an assassin despite what lady whistledown says.
label: the maverick.
⤷ &. STORY
the water beat against the shoreline just outside of the window when nadir was born—tide high on that one late summer night. the third gulse child, welcomed by his father, mother, and the sea.
he was no older than four when his eldest sibling taught him how to swim, and he has yet to look back at the shore ever since then. the day he almost drowned was the day he fell in love with the violence of the ocean.
nadir grew strong and brutal—almost wild. it matters not that the gulses are members of antalya's high society, arda's merchant background and jale's military roots will not dictate nadir how he must behave. and who is there to stop him? he is but a third child, with an elder sister and brother to bear the brunt of responsibilities while he spent his days swimming and sailing, seabound and shipbound.
on his 14th birthday his father gifted him a boat. it was small, no bigger than a fisherman's boat, but it was his pride and joy. until the day he was granted his ship. he called it the iron kiss and named himself captain. it was his many voyages across the ottoman empire and beyond that filled most of his days.
it's one day not long after his 25th birthday that his parents received a letter. from an aunt, and uncle, and cousins nadir have never met. they're in england, he knows. his father's younger sister, who married another wealthy merchant seeking to grow his business on foreign lands. my dearest brother, the letter read. send your children to england.
and so arda had. nadir was tasked to take his siblings on the iron kiss, to bring them safely to the shores of england. they were to meet his aunt in a quaint town called brighton.
it was the preparations for the social season that awaited them there. his aunt and uncle were so sure that the gulse siblings would find opportunities in the capitol city of london. riches and maybe even love, they said. the mysterious new arrivals would surely do wonders for nadir's own cousins.
so nadir docked his ship. he let himself be led by his aunt and uncle all the way to london, already dreaming of the season's end. but for now, without the ocean at his window— what better way can he entertain himself than to bare his teeth and play with fire?
⤷ &. WANTED CONNECTIONS
his family! in my mind nadir has three siblings, two older and one younger. some of them would've came with him from antalya. also his cousins, who likely grew up in england.
proper gentlemen and ladies. they probably would find nadir distasteful and he Does Not Care. it would be very funny.
fellow menaces. people who he is on good terms with because they too are an acquired taste.
admirers...? i don't think anyone should admire nadir but i imagine that his free spirit would have attracted some attention. he would also probably be bad influence.
people he kisses. not saying nadir's a hoe but well... it doesn't really take much to convince him to kiss someone, honestly.
anything and everything! he's not very kind or friendly but he is outgoing and sociable.

westerosi ruling ladies/acknowledged heiresses outside of dorne, listed by region:
the north
lady jonelle cerwyn, lady of castle cerwyn after the murder of her younger brother, lord cley cerwyn, by ramsay snow. (cley did not long outlive their father, lord medger cerwyn, who died of his wounds as a pow at harrenhal, after fighting in roose bolton's host when tywin lannister defeated them on the green fork.) we first hear of lady jonelle when robb stark calls his banners and lord cerwyn means to bring his old maid daughter with him, and the next we hear of her is when asha greyjoy gets her letter from ramsay, co-signed by a lady cerwyn and lady dustin, among the other northern lords in the bolton camp. cerwyn men-at-arms and the cerwyn maester are noted with roose at wf, and presumably if their lady did go south with her father, she must have returned north in roose bolton's party.
lady barbrey ryswell dustin, widow of the late lord willam dustin, apparently the last of his line since no surviving male dustins are ever mentioned. the widow of barrowton rules in his place for the remainder of her lifetime, and (unlike poor lady hornwood) rules with power uncontested, as barrowton's closest neighbors are the ryswells, also her closest kin, father and brothers. however, without any children from the late lord dustin, unclear what would happen after lady barbrey dies.
lady lyessa flint, head of the branch of house flint of widow's watch. lady flint's son, robin flint, led their forces in robb stark's army and died with the king at the red wedding, but was not the head of house. lady flint is listed such in the appendices, and was said to be pregnant in acok, meaning she likely had a living husband at the time, but he goes unnamed as only her consort.
lady alys karstark, heir to her eldest brother harrion karstark of karhold (whose location and current status is unclear after being captured by the lannisters a 2nd time), following the deaths of their brothers in the battle of the whispering wood, and the execution of their father by king robb as a murderer and traitor. at jon snow's instigation she has taken sigorn, magnar of thenn, as her consort.
lady wynafryd manderly, elder granddaughter of lord wyman manderly, by his son and heir ser wylis. should be the next heir to white harbor after her father, unless her parents should produce a son.
lady maege mormont of bear island, the only ruling lady listed here to also have a daughter as her heir. first this was dacey mormont, but after her murder at the red wedding, the new heir is second daughter alysanne aka aly the she-bear. but since aly told asha greyjoy she had a son as well as a daughter back home, that means there likely won't be a 3rd ruling lady in a row, as the mormonts may have a history of women warriors, but there's no sign they don't still practice male-preference primogeniture when there is a son to inherit. where the mormonts do step out of northern convention, however, is the ruling ladies fucking whoever they want without feeling the need for a husband and still naming their fatherless children mormonts, not snows, a practice rhaenyra targaryen would surely envy.
lady eddara tallhart, an heiress and then nominal ruler of torrhen's square, before the age of 10, after her elder brother benfred was killed by theon greyjoy's ironmen and then their father ser helman was killed when roose bolton sent him into an ambush at duskendale. listed as still a captive inside her family's seat, besieged by dagmer cleftjaw again, in the adwd appendix.
the riverlands
lady barbara bracken, eldest daughter of lord jonos bracken of stone hedge, who has multiple daughters by two of his three different wives, but no surviving sons.
lady amarei frey lannister, married to lancel lannister at castle darry as a granddaughter of a previous lord darry, then left to rule on her own after lancel abandoned her and repudiated their unconsummated marriage
lady eleanor mooton, eldest daughter of lord william mooton of maidenpool, listed as his heir in adwd appendix, at the time of her marriage to dickon tarly. (meaning presumably his sons mentioned in acok died during the war.)
lady carellen smallwood, (likely?) heir to acorn hall as the only known surviving child of lord and lady smallwood, whose only known son died years before.
lady liane vance, eldest daughter of lord karyl vance of house vance of wayfarer's rest, listed as his heir in the affc appendix
lady shella whent, last of the line of the whents of harrenhal, disposessed by tywin lannister, and allegedly dead by the time of affc, according to littlefinger. text is somewhat inconsistent on whether she or her husband inherited harrenhal, just as it's unknown what happened to all their children if they were the same whents hosting the tourney at harrenhal years before, nor even how they were related to minisa whent tully, the late lady of riverrun.
the vale
chella, daughter of cheyk, clan chief of the black ears
lady anya waynwood, lady of ironoaks, an older lady with multiple sons and grandsons still ruling in her own name, a formidable power in the vale, perhaps second only to the main branch of house royce as chief bannermen of house arryn
the westerlands
cersei lannister, lady of casterly rock as well as queen regent, following her father, lord tywin lannister, being murdered by her younger brother tyrion, an attainted traitor and fugitive, with her twin brother, jaime, unable to inherit as a knight of the kingsguard
lady alysanne lefford, lady of the golden tooth after lord leo lefford drowned in the battle of the fords against edmure tully's army. (whether the previous lord was her father, brother, or even uncle or cousin is unknown, all we know of her is her entry in the affc/adwd appendices after lord lefford's death in asos)
the reach
lady alysanne bulwer, the lady of blackcrown as the only known child of the late lord jon bulwer, frequently referred to as lady bulwer. (lady fatherslastname not being a style otherwise used with a lord's unmarried daughters, lady housesurname usually referring to a lord's wife using her husband's name). there is an inconsistency with taena merryweather telling cersei that there was talk of megga tyrell being betrothed to lady bulwer's brother (which a nondornish heiress cannot have and is not listed in any appendix), but this is either a mistake by grrm or misunderstanding by taena unless she's referring to an unknown brother of alysanne bulwer's mother, the last lady bulwer. (i'm taking multiple mentions of her as lady bulwer in sansa's pov over any gossip from taena.)
lady arwyn oakheart, lady of old oak, a widow with multiple grown sons who commanded her own forces in renly baratheon's army, even if she did not mean to fight on the field.
the crownlands
lady ermesand hayford, the last of the hayford line, a babe ruling in name only, married to the squire tyrek lannister before she was weaned, a husband now missing since his disappearence during the riot in kl on the day of princess myrcella's departure
the ladies tanda, falyse and lollys stokeworth, three would-be rulers of castle stokeworth dispossessed by the schemes of queen cersei and ser bronn of the blackwater. lady tanda ruled for years with falyse as her heir and younger daughter lollys as the only heir to the barren falyse, until such time as lollys was wed to bronn and lady tanda took a griveous fall from a horse. bronn started calling himself lord stokeworth when tanda and falyse were still alive, chasing off falyse after her husband attempted to kill him at cersei's behest. falyse died painfully in qyburn's dungeons, while tanda was left to die at castle stokeworth, making lollys even more a ruler in name only than baby lady hayford, as her husband is inside the castle with men loyal only to him, not to any stokeworth lady.
the stormlands
lady brienne of tarth, heir to lord selwyn tarth the evenstar as his only surviving child
lady mary mertyns, listed as lady of the mistwood in the adwd appendix
you'll notice the iron islands is the only (nondornish) region missing here. ofc they did have a possible heiress to pyke and all the isles but then asha greyjoy was soundly rejected as such at the kingsmoot after balon's death. the lack of other present-tl ruling ladies/acknowledged heirs afab may be down to this being the smallest region, aside from the crownlands. however, there are no historical ruling ladies in their section of the world book either, iirc.
AND there is another case of a possible heiress, again meaning asha, wrt harlaw. her uncle lord rodrik harlaw tried to dissaude her from the kingsmoot by offering to name her heir to his castle, while allowing a cousin to inherit all his other titles and power over the whole island of harlaw. but shouldn't asha have already been in line for all the harlaw lands and titles, above all the harlaw cousins? her aunt gwynesse's complaint of being the true heir as rodrik's elder sister may not work outside of dorne, but even on the nondornish mainland, a lord's sister (and therefore their children, ie asha) still come before a lord's uncles and cousins. isn't that the whole point of alys karstark's plight, that her older cousin had to marry her to try to claim her birthright? so the harlaw line of succession should go rodrik>gwynesse>alannys>asha before any cousins come into it.
that this would not be the case and that asha is only presented with the option of being lady of ten towers by doing homage to a cousin as her overlord for the whole island of harlaw suggests imo that the islands are particularly resistant to a woman as head of house, with all male kin following her in place of a patriarch. women may serve as castle stewards and the right sort may prove themselves as captains (not common, but not too rare either) but ruling on land, ruling over male kin, and fellow captains is a different matter. perhaps not too surprising from a people whose religon sees rape of foreign women as a key and holy part of their way of life. an ironwoman may not disapprove of her men doing so, but cannot fully participate without the cock to forcibly spread seed across the world. how can a captain who cannot fully perform manhood as the drowned god proscribes for his captains be rock king over any island, let alone all of them? in this light, balon's choice of asha as heir is even more radical, though likely it came not from a view of equality between the sexes but from a feeling that his own daughter was the very much singular special exception, more a son than greendlandized theon.

TWOIAF/Fire & Blood: The Sistermen Rebellion
Warning, Spoilers Ahead…
Aegon has conquered Westeros – except for Dorne. The maesters proclaim the era of Aegon’s reign was one of peace – except for the first twenty years and the two years of conquest before his official coronation. That means 22 out of 39 years were spent in a form of warfare – not a great accomplishment.
Don’t mind me, I enjoy debunking the “Targaryen conquest/regime was the best thing to ever happen to Westeros” fairytale.  I’m not saying Westeros was better pre-Conquest, its simply a case of the Targaryen regime being an example of “meet the new boss, same as the old boss” – now with terrifying weapons of mass destruction.
“In the Bite, the lords of the Three Sisters had taken advantage of the chaos of Aegon’s Conquest to declare themselves a free nation and crown Lady Marla of House Sunderland their queen.”
What?! I have so many questions:
·         Who came up with this plan? It ranks up there with the “Defiance of Duskendale” on the “Stupid Ideas Doomed To Failure” scale.
·         Who are these unnamed lords who crowned Marla? What are their motivations?
·         Marla – Was she a mastermind behind the plot or a convenient puppet/scapegoat for when the plan fails?
·         Why did the lords crown Marla when she had a younger brother?
·         What made the lord think they would succeed in the aftermath of the Field of Fire?
Needless to say, Aegon wasn’t amused. The Arryn fleet had been destroyed in the Conquest, so Aegon contacted Torrhen Stark to handle the situation. Torrhen informed Aegon that warring with the Vale was a time-honored Northern tradition, no problem, he’s got this. And I’m sure, after the whole kneeling situation, the Northmen had some aggression they needed to get out of their systems – they marched all the way past the Neck and didn’t even get to throw one punch! An Umber has to Umber!
Torrhen hired a fleet of Braavosi galleys, filled the ship with Northmen, and ordered Ser Warrick Manderly to raise hell and put down the Sistermen’s Rebellion.
The master states the sight on the ships – along with Visenya and Vhagar approaching – caused the Sistermen to fold on the spot.
For the record, this is now the second time the Northmen have marched and not been able to punch someone. Outrageous!
No word on whether Aegon sent Visenya or if she joined the party out of sheer outrage for part of the Vale defying Targaryen authority after she handled the area with kid gloves.
The aftermath of the Rebellion is why I think Marla was more of a scapegoat than a mastermind: The Sistermen “promptly deposed Queen Marla in favor of her younger brother. Steffon Sunderland renewed his fealty to the Eyrie, bent the knee to Queen Visenya, and gave his sons over as hostages for his good behavior, one to be fostered with the Manderlys, the other with the Arryns.”
Marla was imprisoned, exiled, and after five years had her tongue removed and was sent to the Silent Sisters.
Why wait five years to remove her tongue? Where was Marla imprisoned (pre-Silent Sisters)? Who ordered her tongue removed? Why was House Sunderland allowed to remain in control of the Three Sisters – something the Targaryens and Arryns both allowed? Were the rest of the lords involved in the Rebellion punished? Did the lords honestly think they had a chance of succeeding?
Up next: The Iron Islands are in chaos! The Rise of the Greyjoys! Do the Northeners finally get to kill someone?

Note
How would Riverrun have been as a place for Theon Greyjoy to spend his time as a hostage, compared to Winterfell? What would Hoster Tully be like as a foster-father, and do you think Theon would have gotten along well with Edmure?
Much worse than Winterfell in OTL. The Riverlands have more reason to hate the Ironborn historically, especially given the then-recent attack on Seagard. Furthermore, Edmure is older than Theon and unlike Robb already has a circle of friends probably (Lymond Goodbrook, Patrek Mallister, Marq Piper, unnamed Vances, etc.). Finally, Hoster, while a mostly decent (and certainly well-intentioned) father figure, is nowhere near as gentle as Ned is.
Thanks for the question, anon
