The only "true" way of "finding them" is by gaining their attention/interest through bloodshed because it shows potential of becoming one of them, which is one of the main few reason why U.1 (and U.2) bump into them a lot more often than most other people have.

Chapter 23: Kiss and Tell?

Simon, Kyle and Johnny sat outside the base, in the open air, each one of them engaging in their typical vices.

Simon with a milky breakfast tea and a nicotine patch, Johnny with a vape and an Ultra Blue Monster, Kyle with a weird green tea drink and a cigarette.

It’s way too early in the day for them to be doing that… But they are nonetheless.

They’re just having some downtime, talking to one another, shooting the shit… Not at all waiting for you to wake up and text them back, not at all.

John joins them soon after and sits beside them, carrying a cup of black coffee and one of his usual cigars. He sits down with a groan before kicking his legs up on the ledge of the outdoor table.

“Captain.” The men greet him as he lights his cigarette and grumbles a “Lads” in return.

“A word?” John says as he puffs from his cigarette, wet lips and tongue tasting the brown wrapping as he sucks in the smoke.

That attracts the attention of the other three, all of them glancing over with varying degrees of displayed intrigue.

“I’d like in on your little… agreement.” He says casually while exhaling the smoke and taking a sip of his pisswater-like coffee.

The lads look at each other, almost like silently begging each other to say something.

“Why, Captain?” Kyle ends up asking, leaning forward on his knees to glance at John.

“What Ghost said resonated with me.” He explains. “How I enjoyed my time with them as well.” He says simply.

“Right, but that’s different from datin’ them.” Ghost retorts as he sips from his milk tea, brown eyes locked onto John as if trying to read his intentions. “Can’t just force something that isn’t there.”

“I know that, Simon.” John retorts, his eyes boring into Simon’s harshly, causing a blonde eyebrow to raise in response. “But I wanted to talk with you lot about it before I go on pursuing them.” He explains.

Simon can tell John is hiding something, but he knows better than to address it in front of everyone. He knows Kyle and Johnny trust John blindly, and he doesn’t want to ween them of that with a harsh reality check.

“Well…” Ghost says with a shrug, fingers nudging at the nicotine patch on his shoulders while pretending to stretch his arms a bit. He’s been wearing them as an extra ‘pick me up’ for a decade now. “Not like we’re a… ‘closed’ relationship.” He explains.

“We’re not?” Johnny asks playfully. “Ye’re seein’ more people on the side, L.T.?” Johnny quips with a smirk on his lips while setting his Monster can down and taking a hit from his flavored vape.

“Yeah, you cheating on us?” Kyle jokes with a smirk.

“Oh, piss off, both of ya.” The blond retorts and rolls his eyes, sipping his tea once more, earning some laughs around the table. “Bloody insufferable, you are.” He adds, causing the younger sergeants to nudge each other while murmuring “He’s talking about you.”s to one another.

“What I’m trying to say is,” He tells John as he looks the older man in the eyes. “you shouldn’t be askin’ us about this. It’s all on them if they take you into the fold.” Simon retorts.

“Already did.” John replies, eyebrows raising as he takes another puff of his cigar. “Paid them a visit last night, explained what I felt about your situation, they eased a lot of my worries…” He trails off. He’s mostly saying the truth.

“Helped me realize maybe I was just… feeling left out.” He says. He conveniently forgets to mention he spent half of the night rearranging your guts. They don’t need to know that.

“No way, Captain, ye were jealous?!” Johnny teases and then bursts into laughter, for which Kyle joins him.

“Yeah, yeah, take the piss out of me all you want.” John quips and rolls his eyes, feigning annoyance, but hiding a little satisfied smirk behind the rim of his mug. He’s not going to deny it.

“Well, I’m fine with it… The more the merrier!” Soap says to Price with a chuckle and a wagging of his brows.

After a sip of his green tea drink, Kyle speaks: “Filthy pig.”, earning a nudge on his side. 

“Haud yer wheesht! I weren’t the one balls deep in ‘em last week.” Soap retorts.

John’s attention is turned to the bickering Sergeants, having been unaware of that detail until now.

“I was just being a good friend!” Kyle retorts as he takes a drag of his nearly-burned-through cig. “Was shaggin’em for Simon.”

“Don’t drag me into this… I didn’t ask you to do that.” Simon retorts as he narrows his eyes at Kyle.

“Oh, please, as if your blood didn’t rush ‘down south’ before I even arrived-” Kyle continues his playful tease.

“Right. Ye’re speakin’ as if ye weren’t jerkin’ off the whole time, L.T.” Johnny adds.

“Wait, he was jerkin’ it?” Kyle asks with a gasp as he turns to his right side to glare at Johnny.

“Aye? Ye didn’t see? Ye were there!” Johnny tells Kyle.

“I was occupied, Johnny!” Kyle replies, though he looks like he’s a bit sheepish about saying it aloud.

“That ye were.” Johnny quips with a smirk. Kyle rolls his eyes. “Didn’t peg ye for a shaver.” He adds.

Kyle groans in frustration, even he getting a bit flustered/annoyed by Johnny’s teasing. He looks over at Simon, as if seeking out help only for the blond to say. “Don’t worry, Kyle, it’s good you shave. You’ve got a really pretty cock.”

“That he does.” Price slips in casually as he sips his black tea again, which causes the other men’s eyes to widen as they stare at him like he’s just said something unexpected.

“What? I’ve seen all of you naked.” John shrugs and smirks playfully under his mustache.

That leaves the other men sputtering a bit, exchanging glances, three pairs of eyes trying to wordlessly figure out if the others know that the Captain isn’t just hinting at ‘locker rooms’, ‘showers’ or ‘urinals’ for all three of them… 

Trying to figure out if the others have figured out that all of them have been below the Captain at one point or another in the last decade.

John knows better than to let them figure it out, so he instead changes subjects: “So… when are you planning on making it official with them?”

This was the last thing Wheeljack thought you'd ever call on him for. At first he took you for some timid and shy little human, and while you didn't really talk to him all that much he didn't really talk to you either. But nope! He was completely wrong about you. Honestly Smokescreen never thought you'd be so awesome! Like at first glance you were shy, awkward, and quiet, he honestly didn't think you were all too exciting, but turns out he was wrong. i wrote a shit little article for the comedy column i run in my school newspaper. wanted to put it here for funsies.

My new year's resolution was to be healthier. I know its March, but better start late than never. If cereal icon John Harvey Kellog, who invented peanut butter to distract people from the temptation of sex, can dedicate his life to health, why can't I? A good first step is to cut down on the ridiculous boba consumption, and with that I present the 5-day boba cleanse, and I invite you to come on this journey with me.

Day one: I don't want to go cold turkey on the boba, so I'm weening myself off by decreasing my intake a little bit each day. The day started early with two black milk teas with tapioca. I figured I should get a milk tea because, well, milk is healthy, right?? By two p.m., I was craving more boba. I decided to cave in and get two brown sugar milks with boba. It's basically a cup of milk, so I'm actually being super healthy right now.

Day two: It dawned on me that I should be consuming more fruit. I'm mostly sure fruit is super healthy, so naturally, I ordered three strawberry green tea WITH lychee jelly. That's double fruit, times three!! I think I'm at the pinnacle of health now.

Day three: I have never ever seen an unhealthy cow. Do cows even sit? They stand up like all the time; I'm pretty sure they sleep standing. They must mean they're healthy. Today, to unlock my inner cow, I got two black teas with grass jelly. That's one less boba than yesterday (aka progress), and I'm staying true to the cow diet (aka healthy!!!). Moo-yah!

Day four: Nearing the end of the boba cleanse, and things are looking good. My average daily boba intake is at an all-time low, and I've been exemplifying the ideals of health terrifically. For a while, I wondered, how can I be ultra healthy? What's the healthiest thing ever? And then, a lightbulb. Water. Se I grabbed myself a water with extra ice, water jelly, and water popping boba. Honestly, this had no flavor, so I threw it away, but at least it was healthy!

Day five: The last day! I truly felt amazing, healthy and proud that I was sticking to my new years resolution. Obviously, I had to celebrate, and what better way to celebrate than with my favorite drink in the whole wide world. I drove myself down to Shareteg, got a taro smoothie with quadruple boba, sat down, and demolished it in 4 minutes. Here's to being healthy!

Optimus

He finds himself checking up on you more often, sending you texts asking about your wellbeing and how your day was, and wanting to make sure you got home safely by having one of the bots escort you home or by doing it himself. Or whenever he comes back to base after a particularly exhausting mission, your smile is always a refreshing sight for sore optics, he positively looks forward to seeing you again whenever you’ve been apart for a while and it shows with how you’re one of the first people he talks to the instant he’s back. 

Or if you happen to be a bot, he’ll find himself watching over you more than normal, making sure that you’re alright whenever he can. If you happen to work back at base, he’ll come in and check on you. Or if you go out and fight like a majority of the other Autobots, he’ll call you while you’re out on patrol for a “report,” or while you’re out fighting he’ll keep an eye on you and leap in to help you fend off against Decepticons whenever he can.

Either way regardless of what you are, he’ll start complimenting you and offering to go out on an early morning drive, just the two of you. Of course his crush on you isn’t all too obvious, he’s rather subtle unless you well understand the way he shows how he cares for people.

Ratchet

Whenever your name is mentioned, he’s immediately listening. What about you? Had something bad happened to you? Are you coming back to the base? While he doesn’t exactly look away from his work, you can tell he’s listening by the way his audial fins wiggle and how his head is slightly turned toward whoever said your name. More times than not, he has to send the kids or the other bots away to a different part of the base so he can actually concentrate on whatever he’s doing, but never does he ever ask for you to leave. At times it’s difficult to tell that he likes you, unless you notice the way he seems more at ease in your company, or how he does little things such as remind you to eat and drink if you’re human or refuel and recharge if you’re a bot, or tell you if you’ve forgotten to take something with you when you’re leaving the base.

Ultra Magnus

He isn’t all too fond of the other humans visiting the base, especially Miko in particular, but you make an exception. Whenever you show up to base, he’s there to greet you and ask how you have been. And he’s way more open to picking you up and bringing you back to base or driving you home.

Or if you happen to be a bot he’s much more fond of you. You treat him with great reverence unlike a certain wrecker might. You’re one of the only people who don’t leave him with a major processor ache. He’ll keep an eye on you whether you’re out on the battlefield with him, or if you work around base.

Whether you’re human or cybertronian, if you have anything to say, he’ll hear it, he values your input and opinion greatly unlike the opinion of other bots (cough cough, Wheeljack, cough cough). When it comes to expressing his appreciation for you, not only does he show it but he says it. He’s much more polite and patient in his speech toward you, and if you ever require help with something he’s capable of helping you with, he’s willing to take time out of his day to help you.

Arcee

Arcee realizes this when she finds herself worrying over you more, and thinking about you whenever she’s taking Jack out on rides because these are rides that she wants to take you out on instead. And whenever she does take you out on a nice ride through the desert, she can’t help but admire the excited look on your face while the two of you zoom by, and the way the wind may ruffle up your short or long hair if you aren’t wearing a helmet.

Or if you’re a bot, she’s just thinking about how nice it would be to take you out to see the sun rise. Just the two of you watching the sky turn from a deep purple to a bright marigold yellow and then to a vivid cerulean blue.

She shows her affection for you through spending time with you and ensuring that you’re alright through a little check-in or a text asking about how you’re doing.

Cliffjumper

Cliff realizes he’s in love the moment he catches himself admiring how happy you look after he’s taken you someplace new and beautiful. The way you’re looking around the place, completely awestruck and amazed by the beautiful world around you, while to him, you’re the most beautiful thing in the entire universe. When it comes to expressing his love for you, he’ll take every opportunity possible to spend time with you as long as he doesn’t have to go out on a mission. So more often than not, the two of you will be driving down long patrol routes, listening to country music while simply enjoying eachother’s company or just chatting about whatever comes to mind, whether it be some funny tale, about Earth’s many wonders, or something else entirely.

Bulkhead

He realizes that he’s in love with you when he notices that he hangs around you more than he does with Miko. Miko is one of the most important people in the world to him, and you’ve practically wormed your way up there alongside her. Now he’s talking to you more, spending more time around you, going to pick you up first before her. You’re beginning to come first before her. He expresses his love for you through spending time with you, he also attempts to follow Miko’s advice and give you gifts such as bouquets of flowers or other neat trinkets.

Bumblebee

What makes him realize he’s in love with you is when the two of you go out on a fun drive and you’re both having the time of your lives, smiles on your faces and laughter in the air, and in the moment of it all he notices the look on your face and he is awestruck. Your smile shines brighter than any star in the sky could, and your laughter is like music to his audials. He expresses his love for you by hanging around you more and trying to make you smile, basically trying to have fun and enjoy your time together doing whatever.

Smokescreen

The moment that finally cemented the fact he’s in love with you was when you rode with Bulkhead and Miko into the base laughing. Laughing. Don’t get him wrong, he absolutely loves your laugher and he’d do anything to hear and see you laugh, the problem is that Bulkhead and Miko made you laugh. Not him. Them. He’s jealous, but he’d always deny that he is, and later on that day he’d be a bit weird around them. It’s pretty obvious that he likes you.

The way he’s excited to see you when you arrive or come back from a mission or from patrol, and the way he immediately goes to greet you and begin talking with you. Or the way he instantly volunteers to take you wherever you need to go. Wanna head on over to the base? He’ll be right by your home in a bit. Wanna go home? Sure thing, just hop in and let’s get a move-on! Wanna go somewhere else? Just tell him where to go and the two of you will be off! Want someone to go on patrol with? He’s willing to go with you!

He also gives this certain pouty frown whenever your attention is stolen away from him, whenever he can’t talk to you but you’re right there, or whenever he has to go. He promises that he’ll be back in a jiffy, and then the two of you could continue doing whatever it was you were doing together. If anyone were to ask him about this or if he had a crush on you, he’d embarrassedly try to deny it and just say that the two of you are real good friends. No one believes him.

Wheeljack

He realizes he’s in love when he’s thinking about his next adventure in the Jackhammer around Earth, and how he wants you to be part of it. Yep, that’s right. You. He’s thinking of hitting up an energon mine and sending it and everything in it sky-high and he wants you to be right there by his side, devilish grins adorning your faces as a loud explosion roars loud and clear throughout the area. And if you don’t happen to join him in the Jackhammer all too much, then he’ll go visit you wherever you are! The two of you happen to get into a whole lot more mischief together, much to Optimus and Magnus’s dismay, but he doesn’t give a frag about what they think, all he cares about is you. Spending time with you, making sure you’re alright, being with you is all that matters to him.

Chapter Eleven: Little Miss Independent

"Stop beating yourself up, Crown." Thorne shoved in another bite of waffles, boysenberry jam staining his lips purple as he did so. "It's not your fault that you're the nosiest person on the planet and she hates herself. Get over it."

Kai rolled his eyes. Thorne was a great friend; he was always there for Kai no matter what. But he was the worst at giving sane advice or motivational speeches. "It just wasn't my business."

"You really should have gone into journalism," Thorne said, his words slurred by the food in his mouth. Kai looked down, his heart heavy at the comment.

When Kai had been young, he had wanted to do nothing more than write, and his mother had encouraged that. His father had even been fine with the whole idea, even if it meant that Kai would not go into the family business. All of it had changed when Kai's mother had died. Kai stopped writing—stopped doing most things he loved. It was too painful.

"Yeah," Kai muttered. "I should have."

"Anyways," Thorne waved his fork erratically through the air, nearly spraying Kai with blue jam. "You need to just rip the bandaid off. Show her that you care— more than you should if you ask me–" Kai glared. Thorne sighed. "She really needs someone on her side, even if she thinks she's little-miss-independent."

Kai looked down into his mug, completely empty except for small flakes of chocolate. It wasn't that Kai didn't want to talk to Cinder—quite the opposite, really. He just didn't want to scare her away. He would never be able to forgive himself.

"It's just, there's something dark about her. She's hiding something," Kai remarked.

"Gee, thanks, Captain Obvious. I don't think I ever would have figured that one out on my own." Thorne threw his arms around his head in exasperation, before ticking off fingers. "I mean, she freaks every time someone calls her by her given name, she had a sister that died while they were alone together and no one will say how it happened, and everyone she once knew hated her. I wonder what that girl has to hide."

"Okay, okay!" Kai drummed his fingers anxiously across the square table. "I'm only thinking out loud, no need to go ballistic."

Scraping chunky jam out of a plastic container, Thorne rubbed it lovingly across the last of his waffles. Kai watched, nose scrunched in disgust. Kai hated berries. They were just too sour, too mushy, and left the back of your tongue scratchy. They were gross.

Thorne smothered whipped cream on top of his creation, practically drooling all over it. "Oh, hey, I almost forgot. Did you learn anything from the Principal or that Chris girl?"

"Cress," Kai said quickly, his palms growing sweaty.

"What?" Thorne looked up, confusion scrawled across his fair features.

"Her name is Cress, not Chris." Kai clarified, his cheeks heating up as he babbled. "And your incredible timing stopped me from learning anything really important, so thanks for that."

An impish grin came across Thorne's face, and Kai knew what he was thinking. If ultra-red was a color, then ‘Kaito Crown's face when talking about pretty girls’ could have been the crayon for it. "Yes, she was cute, but not my type, so please don't ask."

"Ah," Thorne slapped a hand dramatically across his heart. "I would never suggest anything of the sort. I know how attached you are to your hot angel." Thorne quirked an eyebrow devilishly.

"Well, what were you going to ask, then?" Kai grumbled, turning his blazing face down. He hadn't much thought about Cress, considering that she had a mysterious past with the girl he was fighting for. He didn't know if Cress had been a positive or negative factor in Cinder's life, which therefore made her hard to look at in any other way than a source of information.

Thorne played around with his fork before answering, "Well, you must have found out something new. Even the tiniest bit of news. I mean, unless you're hiding it from me." Thorne grinned wickedly, and Kai cursed himself mentally. "You're a terrible liar, Crown."

"Okay, fine. I just feel guilty about the whole thing." Kai rubbed his palms against his sleepless eyes. "When I went to talk with Cress, she told me that Selene—Cinder—kept a bunch of secrets." Kai paused, gauging Thorne's face. He looked almost bored, which send a stab of agitation through Kai.

"And?" Thorne pressed on impatiently.

Kai sighed. "And she told me that Cinder lied about what happened to her mom. Even her records don't have the truth; I would know. The nurses told me that Sel– Cinder's mother was put into prison when she was only six, but apparently that's not true."

Thorne motioned impatiently for Kai to continue, but Kai shrugged his shoulders. Thorne huffed. "What actually happened to her mother?"

"Well, I would know if it weren't for your incredible timing." Kai leaned forward in his seat, glaring at Thorne.

"Hey! You told me to call the second the girl woke up. You can't blame me for a job well done," said Thorne defensively.

Kai threw his body back in his seat, feeling exhausted. He was used to getting a solid eight hours of sleep, but that had gone out the window ever since the accident. It was starting to wear on him. "I know, Thorne. And thank you for being there, it meant a lot."

"It better have." Thorne folded his arms across his chest defensively. "That girl of yours is not an angel."

A chuckle escaped Kai, earning a glare from Thorne. "She's a piece of work!"

"She's not easy," Kai admitted, thinking back on his only encounter with a conscious Cinder. She was different than anyone Kai had ever met, one moment rageful and fiery, and in the next small and pitiable. It was hard for Kai to feel anything but compassion for someone who had clearly suffered much. She had fought her whole life, never leaving her enough time to feel peace or love.

There was something so terribly sad about the fact that Cinder couldn't understand why Kai would save her. She was just a girl—not a woman, but a girl—and she needed at least one person on her side. If that one person was Kai, then he would be one damn good cheerleader.

"Why was she so mad at you in the first place? What did you say to her?" Kai asked, recalling the phone call and Cinder's brief acknowledgment to Thorne's visit. "She seems to hate you even more than me."

Thorne waved his hand as if swatting a fly. "Oh, you know. Some women just can't take no for an answer is all."

"Carswell, please tell me you did not flirt with her the second she woke up. She nearly burned to death!" Kai exclaimed, imagining all of the terrible puns and flirtatious jokes Thorne could have made.

"Oh, don't get your panties in a wad." Thorne rolled his eyes. "I was perfectly pleasant as always."

"No wonder she hates me so much," Kai grumbled to himself. "I unleashed you on her, and now she's probably frightened to death! She's only nineteen, Thorne."

"And I'm only twenty-two." Thorne countered.

Kai put his head in his hands, his face flushing with embarrassment and... was that jealousy? How could Kai be jealous that Thorne had tormented a girl with his flirtations, or was it the fact that Thorne was able to flirt with her?

Thorne seemed to read Kai's face like a book. He leaned forward teasingly, his voice sing-songy. "Ooh, is Kaito jealous? But of what, may I wonder?" Thorne rested his cheek in his hand, looking like a gossiping school-girl. Kai had hardly ever wanted to hit him more.

"Not jealous." Kai got out through his teeth. "I just don't want you messing with her. She's been through enough."

"Sure, sure." Thorne tossed the words around teasingly. "Anyway, she's not my type. I've always had a thing for gingers. Those devil's wenches. I was thinking about asking out the other nurse."

Kai ignored this, knowing as well as anything that Thorne preferred blondes. Thorne had only ever been out with one redhead, and that date had not been his best.

"I just don't know what to do," Kai whined, getting back on track. Whenever Thorne was involved in a conversation things always got out of hand.

"Go talk to her. She's had a night to think things through and realize that she was rude and irrational. Appeal to your gentler side; women like that."

Kai wrinkled his nose, deciding that was enough advice for one day. It was true that Cinder had been given plenty of time to think things over and decide how she felt. It was unfair of Kai to shove so much information on her all at once. He would be slower, more patient and gentle this time.

"Thanks, Thorne," Kai said, standing from his seat and sliding his body into his coat.

"Anything for my brotha," Thorne winked, throwing out a fist.

Kai bumped Thorne's fist with his own, twisting it and then spinning his fingers before he walked away and out of the café.

"How are you doing today, Cinder?" A nurse with vibrant blue braids practically skipped into the room, carrying a tray with milk, chocolate pudding and something that resembled oatmeal. Cinder tried not to wrinkle her nose. At least this nurse had called her by her preferred name.

The first nurse that Cinder had met had been curvy and dark-haired. She had called Cinder 'Selene' so many times that Cinder had yelled for her to stop. The second nurse hadn't spoken at all to Cinder, except to ask her the rudimentary questions, though that may have been the night-shift speaking.

"Fine." Cinder commented, not in the mood for conversation. There was a TV going on in the background, but Cinder had only glanced at it for a few seconds before growing bored. She would much rather be reading a book. Those at least didn't make her eyes burn and head throb.

The room was plainly furnished, with the bed in the center of the room, the said TV across from the bed, and a small plastic chair beside the bed for visitors.

"I brought your breakfast, and your medicine. Now that you're awake, we want to start you on oral medication and ween you off your IV so you can go home." The nurse placed the tray on the over-bed table. "I'm Iko, by the way."

Cinder ignore the last part. "Wasn't I in a medically induced coma? Why didn't they just keep me awake and give me my medication like a normal person?" Cinder questioned, her words tinged with agitation.

"It's part of the treatment," Iko said, her voice cool but firm. She was not a woman to be messed with. "People heal better while sleeping, and this particular treatment can be tricky."

Iko moved around the bed to shift Cinder into an upright position. She fluffed the pillows, and smoothed down the blankets in an affectionate fashion. Cinder almost felt guilty for being so bitter toward such a kind person.

There was something reassuring about Iko's presence. Cinder relaxed her shoulders, not realizing how tense she had been. She had been putting up a mask for so many years; it was nice to let it down, even for a second.

"Take these," Iko handed Cinder a small cup with an assortment of colored pills. Cinder put them all in her mouth at once, washing them down with a chug of milk that made Cinder almost gag. She had never been fond of dairy products, but she didn't want to be a snob.

The nurse seemed to dance around Cinder's bed, fixing monitors and IV bags, changing the lighting, turning the volume down on the TV. She appeared to know exactly what Cinder needed the most to make her comfortable. It was an odd sensation, to be cared for. Cinder hadn't experienced anything of the sort in too many years.

After seeming to finish with her practicality, Iko settled down in the plastic chair next to Cinder's bed. She clasped her hands daintily in her lap and smiled at Cinder. Only then did Cinder begin to marvel at the ageless quality Iko possessed. Her dark skin was clear and unblemished, her golden eyes bright, yet wise, and her blue braids gave her spunk.

"So," Iko smiled teasingly. "You seem to have a couple of male admirers. I hope that I'm not stepping the line when I ask you which one would happen to be your lover."

That took Cinder aback. Her shoulders tensed, and while normally she would have been agitated, or even mad with such an assumption, all Cinder could manage was a laugh. And laugh she did; big, ugly, loud laughing that shook the bed and caused the heart monitor to race.

Iko stared at Cinder in astonishment, and looked nearly appalled when Cinder began to cough and choke. She stood from her seat, placing a hand over Cinder's chest and muttering about smoke inhalation.

"You thought–" Cinder coughed, unable to control her laughter, "–that I was–" A wheezing began at the back of Cinder's throat. "–with one of those stupid–"

"Hey, hey," Iko was practically yelling at Cinder. "Stop with that, or you'll stop breathing soon enough. Hey!" Iko grabbed Cinder by the shoulders, trying to calm her.

Cinder stopped laughing, though it was gradual. She coughed once more before regaining her composure and staring at her befuddled nurse. "I'm okay." Cinder wiped at her eyes, though no tears had escaped. That was odd.

"I'm sorry," Cinder whispered, her voice hoarse. "It's just, I've never met either of those men before. I only know Kai because he saved me and I'm guessing Thorne is the guy that dared him to do it."

Iko softened and looked as if she were about to say something, but someone else, hidden in the shadows, spoke before she could.

"I'm so sorry to interrupt, but I would like to speak with Miss Linh."

The greatest part about this Community Day was that the spawn rates were SKY HIGH! I haven't seen an event this boosted since that special Clamperl event which was awesome! I thought last month's was a good one too. But, I'm very happy with this event!

I like the longer events because its less pressure. I have solstice insomnia so I've been weening myself off of sleeping pills, n still struggle to get to sleep which makes waking up also difficult. So, I got out of bed after 11AM. I am also not a morning person. I hate starting in the morning. So, I actually got to allow myself to wake up naturally, once I got out of bed, have some matcha tea 🍵, and get ready while still casually playing at home.

I got shinies right away at home, n they spawn so abundantly all over my home!

By 1PM I had ridden my bike out to the park where I prefer to play. Then I played grind style.

I also got the special ticket for the event.

Usually SPECIAL RESEARCH Rewards have better IVs & CPs but, none of my reward Gastlys were worth keeping at all. I paid for those. The Haunter Reward was also pretty so-so. But I only paid $0.89 on my Samsung Galaxy for the ticket 🎟. I assumed there would be a badge since people told me so, but I don't see one. Anyways, I don't regret buying the ticket.

These events usually mean that the more u catch the better the IVs over time, and the higher CPs w good IVs. Usually Shiny Pokémon have bad IVs overall, but by the end, u can get shinies w better IVs. That didn't actually happen tho.

So, even tho I got lots of Shinies, I only evolved a few. I mostly focused on keeping the good IVs Gastlys.

There's 2 kids of IVs u want. For the Great League PVP u want low or no attack stats, but high HP & Defense. But, if the CP level is too high it's not worth evolving past a Haunter Evolution. If it evolves n the CP bumps up above 1500 then u wasted the candies. So, for Ultra League & Master League u want high IVs. Unfortunately I did NOT get any Hundos which have 100% IVs. Master League is what u want a Hundo for. But u need HIGH CPs for those which means lots of spending candies 🍬 and stardust. Otherwise u will want them for the Ultra League.

There was a special move gor community day for PVP which makes it more interesting. But I screwed up n evolved too many Haunters, too early without thinking it through. I'm so accustomed to the old way which was 3 Stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 IVs n dump the rest.

So, it was pretty challenging. I also have Alt accounts.

Overall, it was a great experience! I love 💘 Community Day! Its really fun!

After a while, I got so many shinies that I stopped counting n focused on GRIND STYLE PLAYING to get more CANDIES 🍬! I was focusing on evolving different tiers of Gengars either 3 Star 🌟 🌟 🌟 w high CPs or the Great League PVP IVs w low CPs. Once in a while I'd evolve a Shiny. But, they r just pretty, n mostly useless.

It was so hot! We got a heatwave!

Gengar is a favorite Pokémon of mine. I have several already! Including Lucky. In 2018 I was very disappointed they weren't available at Halloween like they usually were. So, in 2019, I hot my first shiny Gengar doing intense grinding n got tons of Gengar.

But, the more I'm happy to get more PVP moves as well!
