She reached for one of the sweet, steppe-grown strawberries in the bowl, trying to turn her eyes from her friend’s hands as they set about making a batch of pastry. “Spit it out, Ren.” “I haven’t even put it in my mouth yet!” She protested, an attempt to deflect from another of the always astute observations of her friend. “You know that isn’t what I meant.” Giving a soft tut that was oh so reminiscent of the days when they had been children. Cyfrenne rolled her eyes, both because she was abashed, but also because she was annoyed at having been caught out. “Uncle Zan said you did it, with plants, and a pen knife, and some weird caustic powder?” the breath of her curious sigh following behind her question. Oliviede nodded, her eyes still on the pastry dough she was making. “I used the plants to make a stencil. I set them in gold and silver leaf.” She explained, for posterity. “A stencil.” Watching Oli’s fingers crumble the butter into the flour with a growing impatience. “Well, didn’t it hurt?” She demanded finally, a hint of exasperation tugging at the corner of her brow. “I think so? Yeah. At least a bit? I don’t remember, Ren, I was barely cognizant in the formal sense. I was depressed. And also, off-my head on mushroom tea. That’s how it happened.” Cyfrenne snorted abruptly at this. “You’re insane.” Said with a broad and delighted grin. “Mushrooms.” She snorted again. “Were they the ones you wrote to me about ages ago? From the Sylphlands?” She nodded again, “yeah.” Her own smile a far paler reflection of Ren’s, but still there all the same. “I’d been having a dream, before it happened. You were there.” “What do you mean I was there?” “It wasn’t you, but it was. And it wasn’t me. But it was too.” Oliviede replied. “Sounds straightforward enough.” Spoken sarcastically as she reached for another strawberry only to have Oli tap it out of her fingers. I haven’t been writing for too long (9 months total - only 5 months in the Lone Star Fandom) but here are my 5 favorite fics that I’ve written so far!

Through each other's eyes

TK's not sure he wants to believe in soulmates, but after his last disastrously failed attempt at love he'd do almost anything for the peace the visions have given him.

Carlos has been seeing through his soulmates eyes since he was eight years old. For someone who feels as deeply as he does, Carlos can't help but feel a little heartbroken at the pieces of the puzzle he's been given and he's longing to share all the love he has to give with his soulmate.

Soulmate AU in which you can see through your soulmates eyes for ten minutes each year.

What is time but the relentless passage to the inevitable

They were finally in a great place and they thought they had all the time in the world for which they were planning amazing things. What happens when TK gets a phone call that causes time to speed up at the same time as it potentially stops?

‘TK pulls Carlos’ ring out from where he tucked it underneath his hoodie when Steph handed it to him amongst Carlos' other personal effects. The ring is still attached to the chain holding the 252 pendant that Carlos wears it on while he’s working. TK gently clinks his ring against Carlos’, but the sound isn’t quite right, the pitch is off, quieter, dimmer, lacking. Like the sound is confirming the desperation of the situation.’

TK and Carlos are quick to find out what it means to be parents when their 6 month old daughter catches a cold that keeps them up for nights on end. Between that and working demanding jobs, they learn that sometime asking for help is more important that proving you can do it all on your own.

Peace found in a mother's love

Andrea Reyes doesn’t get surprised by much, growing up on a ranch full of unpredictable animals and people plus being the wife of a Texas Ranger and having raised a curious son, she’s used to all sorts of chaos. Which is why she’s struck by how surprised she is to see said son’s boyfriend sitting on her front porch swing when she steps out the door to go on her daily afternoon walk.

She proceeds to show him all the love she has to give and to try to show him the peace that can be found in a mother's love.

I was lost in the feelings of the memories

The universe doesn't seem destined to give Carlos and TK a break. When TK wakes up thinking its 2017, neither of them are sure what to do. TK doesn't remember Carlos, but he feels safe with him. Carlos still feels like home to TK. Meanwhile, Carlos wants more than anything to be there for TK, but he doesn't know if he can go back to the start. TK worries that he won't be enough. Carlos worries that his feelings will be too much. Will TK get his memories back or can they find their way again together without them?
