see okay on one hand i was not expecting buck to go bi tonight but on the other hand i was thinking that abc was gonna add some queerness to 911!!! maybe i’m biased bc i watched greys anatomy but especially in that show they’ve never been shy about writing queer stories! they literally introduced a bi character back in 2009. and not in like a “she’s bi and she’s gonna date one (1) woman and then never talk about it again” way it was straight up like “hey this character is gonna have serious queer relationships and then they’ll both have their own storylines and identities and then we’re gonna create a web of fictional queer doctors in this show and even have several different queer relationships at once and not just a few that all date each other” when literally the bar for the time wasn’t just low it literally didn’t exist. idk. anyways abc shows are for the queers!!!

Fanfiction has ruined some of y’all’s brains so badly. Gaiman said to expect 3 seasons of Good Omens. That’s how much content he has planned for the show - meaning there’s a definite end he’s looking towards.
What did you really think s2 was going to be? The two of them running around and then being at the Ritz just like s1? That’s not an interesting show, it’s just fan service fluff. (Which is obviously fun and all but not something you should base 3 seasons of TV show on)
Gaiman told you what has to happen for Crowley and Aziraphale to be together in the show: Aziraphale has to heal from his past ‘relationship’ to be in a healthy one with Crowley. What Nina says about her and Maggie is not just a character talking to fill up run time, it’s the show saying something too.
TL;DR: Aziraphale is in a toxic relationship with heaven and needs to get out of that mindset before he can be with Crowley. It’s natural story progression and some of y’all have fanfic brainrot where everything must be instantly gratifying.

Gonna write briefly about “The Rehearsal” on my succ blog bc why not. But I think it truly is brilliant, in hindsight of the finale, that the show turned out to actually be an effective criticism of itself, of reality tv as a genre (even and maybe especially the shows that are framed as being helpful for their participants), the use of child actors, and even, to a certain extent, Nathan Fielder’s own brand of comedy. All of that is 100% intentional - they could’ve shown anything they wanted and deliberately showed things that would make us deeply uncomfortable for ethical reasons, and deliberately highlighted the ways in which participants may have felt pressured into participating and how the presence of cameras impacts behaviour.
I’ve already seen the claim that the finale’s big twist is that it’s a “scripted narrative” and I don’t think that’s true at all. It’s pretty clear that Nathan and the team had an idea of where they wanted the show to go, but all the people they featured were real people. They didn’t script so much as… well, manipulate what happened by introducing certain elements, as all reality shows do. While they might have had a general sense of where they wanted the show’s “arc” to go, they were reliant on the participants behaving in certain ways or raising certain issues to dictate just how they went about achieving that arc. The brilliance here is making it fairly obvious to the audience what they’re doing, whereas most reality shows will try to hide it.
(And this premise is built into the pitch! We all expected to get a show about Nathan running these little rehearsals, and that idea is built on the premise that human behaviour is predictable and manipulable, if you control enough variables. And then we watched this exact premise play out entirely differently - and in a way that was much darker - from how we expected.)
There are so many more things to unpack about the show, obviously, but personally I just keep coming back to the fact that they made a reality tv show to say “hey, maybe even ‘helpful’ reality tv is somewhat unethical because these people are being helped for our own voyeuristic benefit, and those motivations will determine how producers approach the participants and the arcs they deliberately try to set up, even if we don’t see that on our screens.” It’s a bold move but I think they pulled it off well

My little brother just said “You know the tv can’t hear you” 😂I am always cursing out a tv show/movie 🤦🏾‍♀️I can’t hold it in it’s like therapy.
I’m watching Karamo talk show and I love him so much! Karamo really care about his guests and he gives so great advice. He never judge his guests or look down on them. I always loved his segment on “Queer Eye” he always had me crying tears. He is soo sweet but I hate his guests sometimes! This man was just verbal abusing his wife because he is soo insecure! I had to curse him out because sir go away😡I hate mean ass men!! I’m so happy Karamo told this man the truth that he is very insecure!

something so fun about seeing posts like "the writers have backed themselves into a corner where [queer relationship] is the only thing that makes sense! there's no logical outcome where they don't end up together!" because like? yeah ur right homosexuality is the only way forward and any other romantic endgame would be really badly done... but i've been gay for a while now and consuming media for even longer. i have near complete confidence in my belief that any show that doesn't market itself specifically towards queer audiences is never going to provide a satisfactory outcome to queer subtext

If I was on queer eye:
Johnathan: Queen your skin care routine is literally non existent and there is such a thing as a good shampoo for your hair specifically.
Tan: Wearing jeans and a t-shirt everyday is not high fashion and tucking it in is not helping. Most people own more than one pair of ratty converse they wear every single day.
Antoni: How are you surviving off frozen meals and monster energy drinks? That's not good for you. Most of your fridge is expired and you only have ramen.
Bobby: what is going on. A bunch of the weirdest shit you can find put in a room together is not an aesthetic. Why is there dog hair and dust everywhere. And do you have kids because there's a lot of stuffed animals here.
Karamo: there's a lot going on here. You good bestie? Do you need a hug? And a break? Your relationship with your family is concerning and your self esteem is scarily low. You're the therapist friend go see one.

the thing about good omens 2 is that i have never felt so loved by a piece of media before.
like, ofmd came fairly close, but neil literally knows us, he lives here with us and says hi in the halls and overhears us talking about what matters to us and trading theories and fantasizing about what we'd like to see. and he wrote this for us.
like, this could not more obviously be written for us. for us weird little queers who care so much about these two idiots.
every minute of this was written and crafted and performed to say we love you back. it wasn't made to be a hip tv show or to impress or entertain anyone except us, and you can see that everyone involved had a blast in the process, because they love these characters too.
it is just so kind, cliffhanger notwithstanding. this show grabbed me by the shoulders, looked me in the eye, and said i see you and i love you too. and that is so fucking extraordinary.
thank you, neil. thank you so much.

iwtv’s pilot was absolutely amazing and i cannot believe that was just the first episode.
#tbh the movie genuinely isn't my favorite#i think because so much of the queer content was cut from the movie and that sort of makes a lot of the movie not make sense?#or at least not have the same impact as the 2022 tv series where louis is made so much more enticing and intriguing as a character#(there are also many other factors to that including making him a black businessman in new orleans in the 1910s#in a very shaky position where he has some of the benefits of being an upperclass man while still being first and foremost a black man#in a racist society)#and adding his queer repression just makes him so much more layered and realized???#this whole show so far is just more layered#we're actually seeing more of new orleans from the eyes of the marginalized and that's just plain more interesting#than two french white men going to new orleans and primarily interacting with the uppercrust#THIS SHOW IS AMAZING#i am going to be so disappointed if the rest of the season falls flat#but really so far i can't see that happening#the writing is tight#the performances are amazing (especially from jacob anderson that scene in the confessional where he was shaking with rage but not quite#yelling??? absolutely divine i need some awards recognition for him)#and all of the updates and changes they've done to the story so far just add so very very much#sorry to just go on a complete ramble about this show but i think this pilot was impeccable and like i said on another post#this is absolutely the best pilot episode i have ever seen#this is giving me everything the movie did not
