currently sobbing over the thought of you finding manjiro in every single timeline – except for the last, true one.
you find him, always, when the worst has already befallen him and he’s haunted by it, knee-deep in the gore of his own inky dark, impulsive thoughts that suck him in like a chasm, the self-promised responsibility of keeping everyone that’s still alive and precious to him out of harm’s way weighing his entire skeleton down. a shadow of a man, he is, the beginning of something truly monstrous, when you find him. and yet, you don’t shy away. you do something even worse, what he thought unthinkable – you stay.
he is not kind to you. far from it, however much his behaviour shames him and coats the walls of his stomach sticky with guilt. he lashes out at you, calls you cruel words he doesn’t take back even though he never means them. he pushes, and pushes, and pushes you away where he thinks he can finally keep you out beyond the electric wire wrapped around his heart – both to protect himself and to make him bleed. he makes you cry – your tears a waterfall of genuine hurt, carving their path over and over on your reddened cheeks. and yet, you’re stubborn, and you stay. you tell him he’s a fucking asshole for upsetting you, that he was never popular with girls, was he? that what he’s doing is not okay, and for all the life of you, you’ll probably never fully understand what he went through, but you know he’s hurt beyond words. you tell him you feel it, his suffering, so very obviously from just a single look into those dead fish eyes of his – what colour even are they? – so he can be a pissy little baby about it, but you’ve planted your fucking feet and you fear they’ve already taken root so he might as well make his peace with your presence, because you’re not going anywhere.
you linger. you flutter about, like some otherworldly, soothing-balm butterfly. you follow, even though he hasn’t had the desire to go anywhere for a long, long time. you stay, and suddenly it’s a little easier to breathe. he breathes, takes huge gulps of air into his lungs in what feels like ages, and tastes the salt of the breeze nipping at the tip of his tongue. suddenly, he can stomach looking at a sunrise again without wanting to crush something under his palm. an emptiness still clangs inside of him like a great gong that, even if you wanted to fill, you’d be unable to. but even those wounds have dulled from an ache to a throb, because now there’s you – a great, roaring, raging fire. you, who doesn’t give him the luxury of taking his hand, but instead beckon and beckon until he grits his teeth rising from his knees to his feet to reach for and accept your warmth. now, it’s not so dark anymore. now, there are some good days in between the bad and the really bad ones. sometimes, he even smiles. rarely, he laughs, rusty like an old faucet, smoky like a burning house, a weak imitation of his past joy. but still, he laughs, and you’re there to hear it and grin back.
mikey wishes your murmured words and soft caresses against the hard planes of his skin could have cured the unfixable black hole festering in his soul. he wishes your kisses could have sucked out the uncontrollable evil within him, swallow it whole and breathe it out as carbon dioxide, as harmless, used-up, recycled air, because he’s convinced you’re an angel with a touch that turns everything – both splendid and foul – golden. you’re an angel that was meant to show him there’s still good in the world, maybe even in him, but you were never meant to save him. fate’s cruel like that. he was always meant to be saved by another, for everything to come full circle, but he wishes all the same it could have been you.
when takemichi tells him everything – the time leaping and the curse on him – when he goes through another awful, roach-like existence and learns of sinichiro’s sacrifice, the catalyst of everything; when he finally gets the chance to make and do it right with all the knowledge of how to, when he’s grown up and successful with all his friends flushed with health and happy by his side – he remembers you. he finally, finally remembers you. how you met him, always, when he was drowning, and stayed and made him want to thrash and wade to the surface so he could share the same breath as you. he cries – the waterfall of his tears carving a path into his cheeks, at what you did for him, over and over again. the life you offered instead of the plain drifting he was stuck in. and manjiro decides you’ve fought enough. you’ve done more than enough.
so this time, he finds you.
he searches, picks apart the whole city, until he finds you. you don’t remember him, but that’s okay, because he remembers you, and he’s not going anywhere. you’re still so lovely, so golden, appreciative of his advances even though he knows he must come off as strong so early, but you laugh and tell him you find it refreshing. charming, if not a little confusing. and he laughs back this time, fizzy like a bubble bath and rumbling like a fireplace. mikey tells you he wants to stay, with you, so earnestly it strikes you that you might know him, after all. you don’t tell him that, of course, because it’s a bit silly of you, isn’t it?
(you tell him – ask him – later, when he’s been yours for years, when he’s put a ring on your finger and you took his last name. you ask him, after both of your breathings have calmed from a night of pleasurable tangling in the sheets. you ask him, enamoured and so, so in love with him, if he believes in past lives, because you’re so sure of it that he was meant for you. and your husband merely smiles like he’s privy to all the knowledge in the world. he kisses your knuckles sunlight-soft and tells you you were destined for each other from the very start. it leaves a gasp frozen in your throat and a thrill skittering down your spine that makes you want to ravish him once more.)
but that comes later. for now, it’s still a little silly, no matter how adamant this handsome man seems about courting you. so you smile and dip your chin in a bashful nod and say that you’d very much like for him to stay. so manjiro does. he stays by your side and lives the life he was always meant to, with you.

In a word, 'no'!
Sorry, baby, I am always being asked to show my boobs, to see me in underwear, wearing a corset with stockings, etc.. And I genuinely understand why guys (mostly) ask me to do so. But I am aware that my posts are being reblogged - on Tumblr and elsewhere - and, other than my friends and followers whom I know and trust, I have no idea where my pictures end up, who is seeing them, let alone what they do with them.
So the only way I can retain some degree of dignity is NOT to pose naked, or half naked - and, for the avoidance of doubt, no-one gets to see my (pathetic!) private parts, not even on a date.
Maybe I will do a bikini shot one of these days but I am a girl and, being a girl, I want to look good, to look my best and for people viewing them not to think, for one second, that I am anything other than a regular girl! My waistline is a challenge right now (!), I want a nice figure, so no-one should expect to see me in a bikini any time soon ... maybe next year!

4/25/24: Come ON…word from the home front is that we are now missing one chicken, “Poppy,” the grey one. The Maplewood Fox was seen chasing “Agent 99” (another chicken) inside the coop area, but my BRAVE sister chased the fox 🦊 out of the henhouse 🐓 What is going on with our animals in Maplewood? Take good care of your creatures, people. 🐴 🐕 🐱 🐒 🐠 🦛
A few days ago it was time for the Spa portion of our vacation. We had a recommendation for spa treatments from our VRBO host ( whose house we are staying in). So rather than go to one of the 10,000 salons nearby, we took the challenge and drove out of town to seek out our host Carole Boulet’s personal salon…quite the adventure! I was impressed with our tenacity and Claude’s ability to do numerous K-turns in THE tiniest parking lots EVER. The spa ladies wore little uniforms and everything, and they were very nice about my French. The facial was lovely. Then, for Part Two of the pampering, Claude sent me out on my own for my manicure…I guess he had had it with hauling me around to my various beauty appointments. SO for the first time, I ventured out on my OWN, with specific instructions from Claude AND Google maps, and ended up at a little shop on Rue Gambetta, called Sunny Nails! They spoke no English, but I met a French gal who was also getting a mani, and she helped me tell them what I wanted. Mon amie Sophie The French Gal, my new BFF, has an uncle who is “very rich,” and lives in Massachusetts. We chatted, Sophie taught me some French, and I taught her how to pronounce the word “pittoresque” in English—picturesque—which is a tough one, when you think about it: PIK-CHER-ESK. I feel like there are not a lot of CH’s in french, am I right? C’est vrai? Feel free to tell me I’m wrong in the comments (I don’t know how to comment on a tumblr blog but I think you can). My brave sister I’m sure will not hesitate to let me know if my grammar/pronunciation/tense is wrong…That reminds me of when my sister and I were traveling together a couple years ago, and we were chatting with a gal and we asked if she had a sister. The gal said “no…” so my sis, Pammy, said, “if you don’t have a sister, how do you know what’s wrong with you??”
That was sort of a random story, and I guess you kind of have to have a sister to understand. Or a really close friend who’s not afraid to tell you what’s what, or that you have your shirt on inside out. But there ya go 👩❤️👩. I’m thinking about ya sis! She’s probably not reading this blog, as she is actually back at my house in NJ, taking care of our mom, Normie, for two weeks. David took the first shift, and now Pammy has taken over. Don’t forget to keep the fox out of the henhouse Pammy, and THANKS 🙏
Yesterday, we did basically nothing except shop and eat 🥐🥐 🥐 🥐🥐 🥐 🥐🥐 🥐 🥐🥐 🥐 🥐🥐 🥐 and I’m having trouble even remembering right now, so I will set that aside and post some photos of two days ago, when we had a travel day and drove to Cassis…more later. We have received more bad news from NJ about Oreo…he is really struggling. He’s a good dog, and he has had a really amazing run. I’m grateful to my friends who are helping him and us to figure out the right thing to do, and get through this…

I'll have you know your existence continues to be a positive influence on my mental health. I was about to begin some mental self-flagellating and shaming myself for liking a character a little too much (I had some weird sorta crush thing on him when i was a kid, more like tween actually i think, promptly forgot about it, and just remembered), but then my mind went: "No. You stop that right now. What would tumblr user starleska think?" And I went "Damn you're so right, tumblr user starleska would want me to be unashamed and enjoy fiction in whatever way I want because it doesn't matter if we are cringe or not, the only thing that matters is if we are having fun."
So anyway yeah just letting you know that your genuine and carefree attitude continues to be a positive influence in the world.

Howdy friends!
I wanted to give a couple updates.
I’ll probably do 1 or 2 more new item tumblr sales before the end of the year
The shop is still stocked with a ton of stuff and I’d love to clear it out before the end of the year
I am working on a electroformed jewelry collection!!! I am so behind with my goals, it’s been really challenging to get my whole business back up and running smoothly after such a big move, but I’m finally settled and I’m already working on about 15 pieces and I’m planning to make many more
I’ll be focusing on doing neat photoshoots for jewelry again and I’m really excited about that
If there’s enough interest I’ll either do another custom wire wrap post or I’ll just list a few random wire wraps in the shop like I did a while ago (let me know which you prefer!)
Also just thought I’d let you know I’m still working on shipping out sale orders and the latest you’ll get your tracking number is tomorrow 🙏🥰 there was a few more orders than I thought so I ran out of my little gifts that I put in the orders and I had to put together more
I’m excited to keep growing and getting things back to the level they were at before we moved and I’m just really glad I get to keep doing this with you all!! 💜🌙

Oh man, Anon. You’re setting me up for failure here! This is a paradoxical message bc if I respond, I’m continuing to not shut up.
(Cut for length, apologies for the wall of text. More apologies & sources to Black opinion pieces beneath!)
I do wanna say I’m super sorry if any of the language in my posts about the casting was alienating or insensitive. I said several times that I wasn’t trying to speak over anyone. And I don’t want “I’m sorry if” to sound like an insincere apology—I do mean it, but I’m also saying that if I got anything wrong it was just me being ignorant and I didn’t mean to hurt anybody. And I want to say that, now that the dust has settled and there’s been such an overwhelming negative response to the news in general, I see why that feels discouraging and hurtful to fans of color, and that fucking sucks. So I also hesitate to bring it up again cause like, I feel like it would be more productive and healing for people to post positive stuff for a while so we can try to build a space that prioritizes inclusivity and lets this bullshit rest for a minute. And I’m really sorry for contributing to that, I really didn’t intend to hurt anybody.
Sometimes I treat Tumblr like an opinion space and I can be kinda lazy about citing sources and I’m super sorry about that, honestly. I should’ve. Some of my opinions are kinda baked in at this point from conversations I have pretty often IRL, and I listen to several podcasts with Black perspectives on media, and I’m sorry for paraphrasing some of that instead of linking. My fault, my bad!!! 🙏 Here’s a few of the sources I consulted that shaped my opinion:

Twitter thread by endlessyarning about the importance of diverse crews and also the broader picture of racism in the industry as a whole

These final three also address the idea of not wanting "hand-me-downs" and how it's pandering.
(I just checked again and so far these are the only YouTube videos I can find from Black creators who have spoken on it, so far no one supports it. idk. Let me know if I missed somebody! I'm really trying to challenge my confirmation bias and understand the full spectrum of opinions but I'm having a hard time finding anyone in favor of it.)
I looked up some other sources, too, that are memorable to me and that I could think of off the top of my head -

This particular episode is actually about Hamilton and the complications of race swapping a historical story and what that means to the erasure or belittlement of slavery, while also taking on the challenge of creating a meta experience for a white audience who doesn't actually understand it for what it is, along with calling out the idea of using Black culture and POC to entertain the elite theatre audience while making the show prohibitively expensive to regular people.
Afro Horror - The Skeleton Key
This episode of Afro Horror about The Skeleton Key I think is relevant, too, I love this podcast and this one sticks out because I think it has a lot of similar themes to IWTV and the idea of where to draw the line when it becomes gratuitous Black suffering for the sake of the director’s white guilt or the sake of the white audience. (I think their episode about The Craft is relevant to this conversation too and the issue of creating Black characters whose arcs revolve around racism instead of having a fuller personality, which I think has come up in some of the IWTV convos as far as like, would it be good to create a more accurate picture of slavery in the show and acknowledge it fully instead of dancing around it, or would that be contributing to representation only being about trauma?)
Attack of the Queerwolf! - A Pity Party is my Favorite Party
And this episode of Attack of the Queerwolf! reviews IWTV and got into the plotholes of writing Louis as a sympathetic slave owner, which!, while not exactly the topic we’re on right now, I thought really did sum up why this is a problem in the text, and it really influenced my opinion lately as I’ve daydreamed about how they might navigate it on the show.
I also re-listened to a few epsiodes of Fansplaining today to refresh on what lessons we can learn about racism in fandom spaces. I generally suggest this podcast to everyone who fandoms as a hobby because it gets into really incredible conversations about navigating this space in a way that takes it seriously as a hobby, creative outlet, and social forum. And these conversations were a great reminder to be careful how we talk about race, even when we're well meaning. I think going forward as the show comes out and the fandom gets louder these will be really great reminders about how to conduct ourselves and call out shitty behavior when we see it.

I’ve been following the news about this show pretty closely so my initial unhappiness was not “Oh my gosh I don’t want a Black actor” but more along the lines of “omg these white people are going to make this show so fucking racist.” And I tried to convey that in my posts. I hope that was clear. Anyone who caught my post out in the wild might not have had that context. I know that my intention doesn’t matter if it landed wrong, that it still might have hurt people, but I just want to say that for the sake of clearing the air. And the ironic thing is that I was actually more open to Black Louis a few months ago when the leak came out, until Black fans on Discord told me I was being an obnoxious white person and we started having the conversations about getting meaningful and respectful representation. (As a couple of those videos above called it, original characters instead of “hand-me-downs.”) It really got me thinking about some of the angles that hadn't occurred to me and that I'd taken for granted, and I defer to those conversations. I mentioned in my posts that I know all Black fans are not a monolith and of course there isn't going to be a consensus here, like some people are going to disagree with the sources I shared, I totally understand that, but combining all of this with the overlapping lessons in queer representation and disability representation (which I feel more qualified to speak about and spend a lot of time with in other fandoms) definitely influenced my opinion.
I really didn't intend to speak over anyone, so while I repeated a lot of the ideas I heard from Black fans, I'm sorry for not linking them!
I’m excited to see how Jacob does and I think he’s gonna be handsome af in the period costume and I’m going to watch and I’m cheering for him, but I am also critical of even more racist storytelling in this fucking universe, like I really thought that was something the show could improve upon since it’s already rampant in the books. So I’m curious to see and I hope they get their shit together and do it right lol. I think everyone who likes VC is kinda like, in the fucking trash fire together and we all know that the books are fucked up, and it would be really nice to enjoy the show without making everyone feel even worse about our bad taste.
Anyway anyone feel free to share these links independently in their own posts! Feel free to reblog as well bc I'm not afraid to get dunked on by this anon and I'll take the heat LMAO but it would be nice to give them their own space where it's not framed by a white person gabbing about it. =) That's counter-productive.

I am inviting you to join me for a short prayer in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Let us pray together. Lord God, thank you very much for all the blessings that you never get tired of giving us. Even if we are not worthy of your love, you are still there to love us. Lord, we are humbly asking for forgiveness from You for all our sins, whether they are intentional or not - please forgive us. Cleanse our hearts and remove all the negative emotions that we hold. Lord, I lift my future to you. May you straighten the path that I am walking. Cause me to make wise, Godly choices for my life- choices that will honor You. Please be with me on my journey, Lord. You will serve as my guide and refuge. Lord, though I am a sinner, fragile in temptation and often my faith is weak, I pray that you will not let go of me, but hold me in your loving arms. Lord, we need you. Pour your love and forgiveness out to the world. Touch each one of us. Make each of us your instrument of love so that other people can know you. Give each of us enough wisdom to reveal your greatness to others. Dear Lord, we will not get tired of worshiping You. From the smallest to the greatest of your blessings, I will be in debt until my death. May the love that first came from you reign in the life of every child reading this prayer. Use us for your plans. Lord, I pray that You will stop this spreading disease - heal our land. This is causing huge damage to our families and communities. Please take care of us, Lord. <2> Here is another 8 of Cell wallhangings. I will post another 10 of them straight after this. There will be 26 of them in total. If you would like one, please let me know the code number of the wallhanging which shown on the individual image. The size is from 8 to 12cm diameter. They are made in wax coated, hand forged mild steel. They have a little hook each on the back so that you only need a screw to hang them on the wall. The price is £300 included VAT each. I met her through my job in 2011 and she taught me how important it is to have a good balance between work and health.
