Was drawing some more story scenes, and finally decided to draw "younger" Aran. ♥ Is she really younger? What's 10 years when compared to the other 4,990? :')
Looking at this right now and I absolutely bollocksed up her horns, they're way too small and angle the wrong direction, but it is what it is. ♥ You can find all of Aran's story information over at her ToyHouse page, but this is your nice, typical, "if I let you out, promise not to run away?" kind of deal. :')
She doesn't even try to skedaddle. She's way too cute for that.

Warning in advance, taking a screenshot of a tv screen is hard, sorry for inevitable bad quality, be it in this post or in subsequent ones
I mentioned last night that I might do a new Rimworld run and post it to tumblr, both giving me something to do with this account outside of supporting my friends and making low quality shitposts, as well as giving me a reason to really work on my commitment issues and commit to a run, instead of getting mad when something I didn’t like happens and quit. And this is the start of that lol
How long will this series of posts last? Impossible to tell, probably until either all my pawns are dead or my colony is in a stable enough position where I get bored of the run and stop playing it, if it’s the former I’ll probably turn it into a post that acts the “finale” of this series of posts and if it’s the latter I’ll probably make a post mentioning that. This is more of an introductory post, introducing the initial five characters and explaining some of the game settings
Game settings are tribal start, randy random, blood and dust (I think), and the map I chose was a (flat-ish) arid shrubland with a river, containing granite, marble, and a little bit of sandstone
Why a tribal start? I like them, you get to choose five characters that all have the natural backround, meaning you can foster up a cluster of high grade psycasters rather quickly
Why arid shrubland? I like the challange it has with somewhat lesser animal spawns as well as a lot less wood, not to mention it can spawn elephants, one of the best animals in the vanilla game.
Will I be using killboxes? I’ll try not too but no promises, from what I’ve seen the game seems a lot more interesting and risky without killboxes, also killboxes don’t make much sense from a roleplaying perspective (why would your enemies walk into a loaded trap when they see their comrades run into the same loaded trap and die right in front of them), but if difficulty proves to hard I might sell my soul and do the devils box
Now, the characters.
Sam (second image) is from the Bush Sniper backround and is going to probably be my sniper pawn as well as my main hunter and animal tamer, with a 12 double passion in both shooting and animals, as well as an 8 double passion in cooking, and single double passions in construction and cooking, her variety in terms of passions should make up for her backgrounds inability to firefight, plant work, or doctoring, she is 44 years old, and her traits are careful shooter and nervous
Bascullo (last image, not in order sorry) is from the butcher backround and, like Sam, has a variety of passions that will likely make him one of the backbones of the colony, with double passions in shooting, cooking (12), and animals (8), and single passions in construction and melee, he will likely become the colony’s main cooker, he also has pretty alright medical at 4, witch is tied for highest in the colony (yeah I’m doomed lmfao), and he has no incapabilities, he is 50 years old, and as I mentioned in his image he has bonded with the colony’s husky, ambassador, he also has great traits in bloodlust, great memory, and tough, witch will make him one of the colonies primer melee fighters, and he might become unstoppable if we open up the ancient danger and find a Mfer with late game armor
Lena (second to last) probably isn’t as good as a pawn as the former two, he comes from the lore keeper backround and is 32 years old, he has a double passion in artistic (12) and social (8), and single passions in intellectual and mining (both 4) he will most likely be the guy strapped behind a research bench for most of the run, but with both the quick sleeper and psychically hypersensitive traits, he won’t just be working there around the clock, but might become a beast later on with enhanced psychic skills, he will probably be the guy I will be investing the anima tree into first
Porcupine (third image) is from the Vengeful Hunter backround and is 48 years old, she dosent have as much going for her, similar to Lena, but she has my favorite trait in the game, tortured artist, as well as a double passion in artistic (1 lmao), melee (10) and mining (10) she will probably be the colony’s main miner, and dispite her high melee I think I’ll make her a ranged pawn for the time being, I might revert that descision later on once we get more manpower, with her high construction (9, single passion) she is already one of the better tortured artists I’ve seen, and I will likely try to level up her crafting to make her one of the main crafters in the colony as well, her traits are tortured artist (as I mentioned) and undergrounder
Finally we have Salamander, (fourth image) he’s from the plank cutter backround and is 33 years old, he’s the only Mfer in this entire group who can competently plant, only barely being able to grow healroot (9, double passion), his only other passions are in social (single passion, 7) and melee (also single passion, 7), he also has pretty high intellectual at 6 (no passion unfortunately) so he definately will be far from a detriment to the colony, and he is also tied for highest medical at 4, with his traits being sanguine and masochist, as well as the already mentioned good-ish melee, I’ve decided to make him the second melee pawn of the colony
We also have a tamed bunny named Chantel (that you have seen in some of the images) and Marco the Guinea pig (not shown)

synopsis: spending the start of the new year with your family was your only aim, but a blizzard extends your stay at an all-too inviting hotel housing eerie commotion, camoflauged culprits, and a charming guest who makes your heart melt.

IRUSU INN SMELLED LIKE LEFT OVER FRUIT CAKE. That was the first thing you took note of. In fact, the rollicking quarters had a presence that screamed left over merriment, with its flickering Christmas lights still dangling on the windowsill and unstable ornaments falling off of the evergreen that was slowly tipping downward.
You blew onto your hands, but your breath was as cold as the outside world. It was your first time in the small town that the inn resided in, and it was also your first time trudging through a blizzard.
The vigorous frost had been expected, but you had never actually experienced a winter filled with such furious flurry, or any flurry at all. You had grown up in a place where winter was often accompanied by either dull mizzles or fierce rainstorms.
You stomped the stray snowflakes off of your boots on the cardboard left on the floor by the inn's employees and looked down. At least your shins were sunny and snug, shielded by the crocodile-colored leg warmers your friend, Haram, had gifted you for Christmas.
"Christmas," you sighed the holiday's title like it was the name of a long-lost lover. You couldn't believe that it, along with the entirety of the holiday season, had already come to a close. You sniffed, rather roughly, trying to take in what you could of the inn's delicious scent of dried fruit and nuts.
The two gentlemen in front of you on the line to the front desk turned around. They didn't give you a weird look, no. They eyed you suspiciously, as if your impassioned inhale was a threat.
You weren't fazed. You stared at the one on the left. He was dressed in a trench coat, its color reminding you of soup brought to a potluck that no one wanted to touch―gamboge. Then you looked at the one on the right. He wore an identical trench coat, but in a shade of green similar to a pickle. Both wore black fedora hats.
You concluded that they were private investigators, and your intense smelling could have gathered too much attention and blown their cover. Even if it was a far-fetched idea, you knew it'd make for one epic tale that Haram would enjoy.
You smiled to yourself, deeming the two of them detectives.
Except the two detectives were giving you some serious stink-eye. Gamboge Guy looked down at your leg warmers. You wouldn't let it be known to a couple of strangers, but now you were feeling totally self-conscious about the bell crickets printed on your green garments.
"You're going to stay with your family for the start of the New Year?" Haram had practically squealed at the news. She loved a good adventure, even if she would have to live it through someone else. "That means you have to get through that small, cold town after the bus ride." Haram held the knitted piece of clothing to her chest, dreamily. "My gift will be so handy."
If Haram could see the way Gamboge Guy was looking at her present, she'd probably drop kick him and his friend on the right.
Eventually, the two men faced forward again. The line moved painstakingly slow, and you wished the days leading up to Christmas had moved to the beat of a similar tempo. By the time it was your turn at the front desk, you were buried underneath the memory of collapsing gingerbread houses.
There was a sudden dip in your lapel coat. Not exactly a poke in the back since the turtleneck and tank top you wore underneath your coat and the large backpack on your shoulders didn't let you feel a single touch on your skin.
"Hey," the poker said from behind. You weren't aware that someone had been standing behind you the entire time. "The desk is empty. It's your turn."
The look over your shoulder was brief. His cheeks were tinted pink, probably from the weather. The black knit beanie on his head was too low, and the scarce pieces of hair sticking out were as dun as dark chocolate. His eyes, were woodsy, and elevated by a small, friendly smile.
This moment. It was the sound of Saturday morning cartoons on in the living room as silver spoons clinked against bowls of cereal. It was the sight of milk swirling in a cup of hot coffee on a Tuesday evening in September. It was the touch of the tide of a raging ocean. It was simple. It was natural. It was nonchalant. It was so, so satisfying.
You wanted to pour those three seconds into a cocktail glass and sip them slowly.
You blinked thrice. "My bad," you managed after coming to your senses. "Thank you for letting me know."
You turned around and marched towards the front desk. Your ears were warm. Your knees were tingling. Had Tinkerbell built a fortress within the collateral alignments of your kneecaps?
You fought the urge to look over your shoulder once more at the handsome stranger, and instead feigned interest in the receptionist's name tag. Joy.
"Actually, my name's Jennie," the receptionist informed you with a swing of her ponytail, and you realized you had been staring at the tag longer than intended. "I'm just borrowing my friend's uniform while mine's at the cleaners. Hi."
You couldn't help but chuckle at the late greeting. "Hi. I'm ____ ____. I'd like a room. But a small one. It's just me."
Jennie rose one brow. "I can already tell you are quite the oversharer." Her tone was affable. "I like being nosy, so feel free to overshare while I get everything settled for you."
You bounced as you spoke, eager to speak to someone so inviting. "Well, I'm only going to be here for- well, just until the snowstorm passes."
You stopped to see Jennie's reaction, and when she nodded with a look of interest, you continued.
"I'm staying with my family for the first few weeks of the year. Not to brag or anything, but I'm sort of the family's good luck charm," you rolled your eyes in a cocky, but playful manner. That's what relatives had told you countless of times. Even though it was a lighthearted statement between the extended family, you liked to believe it. "Once the snow stops I have to catch a bus to the next town. And I'm kind of anxious about this whole thing, but at the same time, I'm really excited. I mean, it's frickin snowing! That doesn't happen where I'm from."
"Well, hopefully you work as a good luck charm for the inn," Jennie told you with a wink and held a key out to you. "Room 302. Our heat isn't working, so you might freeze for awhile. Probably until tomorrow morning."
You groaned. It was bad enough that your head and hands hadn't been protected from the harsh winter, but now you'd have to deal with it for some time longer.
Jennie gave you a look of comfort. "Don't look so glum. It'll only be until tomorrow, and then your next few days here will be nice and toasty."
"Wait," you stopped her before she could say any more. "Next few days? I'm only staying until the storm stops, so like, today and tomorrow."
"You really aren't from around here, huh? I thought you at least had some knowledge about the town." Jennie gave you a nervous grin and shrugged her shoulders. "When the weatherman says the blizzard will only be a couple of days, what he means is four or five days. Winter hates us."
You groaned again and stomped your foot the way a six-year-old would after being told that couldn't have a third cupcake. You immediately cut your antics short when you remembered that a cute guy who had made you feel like you were floating with just his stare was standing behind you.
"I guess I'll just call my parents and tell them to wish me luck," you stated. "When should I pay you?"
"After your stay is over," Jennie responded. "Come see me whenever the desk is empty and you're bored."
"Oh?" You weren't disappointed, just a little shocked. Jennie seemed approachable, but you didn't expect her to become interested in your presence.
"Don't 'Oh?' me," Jennie retorted with a good-natured glare. "I'm a listener and you're clearly a talker. I think we'd make good acquaintances."
Acquaintances, right. A long distanced friendship would be hard since you didn't plan on ever visiting this town again. If the snow stopped for the rest of the month, you'd have no reason to check in again after your time with your family.
Still, an acquaintance was better than nothing, and you didn't want to spend your time here alone. You nodded and grinned. "Will do."
You noticed the good-looking guy step closer to the front desk, eager to get his registration out of the way. He looked between you and Jennie, curiosity in his expression. Suddenly feeling nervous, you gave him and Jennie a thin-lipped smile and dashed towards the elevator.
It was a cursory journey to your room. Irusu Inn wasn't actually an inn. More so a tiny hotel composed of six floors wirh low ceilings, which resulted in limited flights of stairs, and cramped hallways with four rooms on each level. The floorboards creaked from the first step of the stairwell all the way to the shaggy brown mat outside of room 302.
The walls were painted blonde and the doorframes were painted gray. There was only one window at the very end of the corridor, nude of curtains and blinds.
You shoved the white key Jennie had given you into the lock and turned it left. But it didn't move.
You frowned. Maybe you were turning it the wrong way? Though, that wouldn't make sense with the placement of the doorknob. It was on the right side, which meant that the key needed to be turned to the left to unlock the door. You gave it a try anyway, only to be met with disappointment. Next you tried turning it to the left again.
Were you not putting enough pressure? You had unlocked doors hundreds of times. Unless the inn had some sort of magical opening that only the most elite guests knew about, it should have unlocked by now.
You put the key in once again, twisting and turning it the way one would drive around in Mario Kart. There was some rustling on the other side of the door, and you froze. Did the doorknob pop off because of your aggressive actions? You tried to pull the key out but it held on to the mechanisms of the lock for dear life. You put your left foot on the door, steadying yourself, and tugged, growling just a bit.
"Do you need help?" A voice from beside you asked. Your ears burned like the sun at the sight of the handsome stranger from the lobby.
You tried not to get lost in his eyes. "Yes. Please help. I'm freezing and this door won't open."
The dark-haired guy held his hand out, and you placed the key in his palm, your fingers brushing against the softness of his skin.
"I'm Seungmin," he introduced himself. "I saw you downstairs." Then he shook his head, looking a little shy. "That obvious. I shouldn't have said that."
You laughed. "I'm ____. Is it your first time... here?"
"Yeah. I'm just passing through, but-" Seungmin rolled his eyes. "You know how snow can be."
You shook your head. "No, I don't. It's my first time being in snow. And I forgot to wear a hat and gloves like an idiot." You gave Seungmin jazz hands and smiled. "I'm just passing through too. It doesn't snow where I'm from."
"That's so lame," Seungmin stated teasingly. "Where is that exactly? Gotta know so that I never visit such a dull place." He put your ear in to the lock and twisted to the left.
"I'm from-" your words stopped at the sight of Seungmin unlocking room 302 with ease. "How- But- I turned it that way and it didn't open!"
Seungmin chuckled. "The Inn's pretty old and it doesn't get as many customers as it used to unless it's around the holiday season. So this room probably hasn't been used in awhile and the lock tightened up or something." He laughed a little as he said, "Your manhandling probably loosened the lock."
"I always knew my manhandling skills would save my life at some point," you replied with a smug smirk. And then two of your burst out laughing.
"I'm in room 301," Seungmin shared. "If you ever struggle to unlock your door again, look for me. I'd be happy to help a new friend."
You beamed. "Okay. And if you ever need to rustle someone up, look for me."
The two of you shared another laugh before moving towards your individual rooms.
"See ya later," you called out as you slowly backed into your room.
"See you around," said Seungmin, as he moved in at the same pace.
As soon as you were fully inside, you shut the door and laid against it, sighing dreamily.
"Seungmin is so cute."

Phoenix Wright: The Truth Reborn: Oh No We’re Doing This Again
hi.
Nearly two months ago, I wrote an essay summarizing and making very wild conclusions about the second Takarazuka Musical. I did this about two and a half years after watching the first Takarazuka musical. As such I did not have the full context for many things from the musical and was relying mostly on my memory, which blocked many things from this musical for my own safety. However, just this week, I decided to rewatch it, because I enjoy tormenting myself. I said I wouldn’t write anything on it. Here I am writing something on it.

It was not quite as cringe in a funny way as the second musical to me, and therefore this essay may be less funny, but I feel like I’m doing a disservice to people by providing a summary of the second musical while completely neglecting the first. Quite possibly doing this is even more of a disservice. I just eagerly await the day that the third musical is translated because *that* will be the day that I finally shuffle off this mortal coil. Either way, I want to write this stuff down so that I never have to watch the musical again out of curiosity.
The following essay will contain major spoilers for both the first and second Phoenix Wright Takarazuka musicals, as I will be using many points from this musical to argue my thesis of the second musical. ... like you were going to watch them anyways. 
This one broke 8k. I’m dead inside.
Introducing The Director
Again another disclaimer that I don’t have anything against the actresses or the theatre troupe. I DO have something against Suzuki Kei, who I recently learned is the writer and director of all three of the Ace Attorney Takarazuka musicals, and is quite possibly my mortal nemesis.
This man is the one who brought this monstrosity into the world.

This man, allegedly, cleared the first four ace attorney games *seven times* before sitting down to write these musicals. He played these goddamn games seven times and did not take in a single word. The man clicked through them mindlessly while watching a badly written legal romance drama in the background and got them completely confused. I genuinely have no idea how this man could have played these games more times than even me and yet managed to get so many characters (MAYA!!!!) completely and utterly wrong. This haunts me every day, truly.
This man played Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations, and Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney seven times. SEVEN TIMES EACH!! and was told to create a musical based on the series. He played these games seven times each and you know what he said?? You know what he said?? “This sucks, I’m getting rid of all of Phoenix’s backstory, butchering half the characters, and writing Phoenix/Lana fanfiction, but also rewriting all of Lana’s backstory so that she was Phoenix’s childhood friend, and you know what, I’m changing her name for good measure.”
I think this man played the games seven times each and then hated it so much and was so sick of it he tried to write something that destroyed as much of the series as possible while still being vaguely recognizable. And then somehow it became a massive hit because people like me see this and go “what the actual hell” and watch it, or people who haven’t played the games see this and go “wow what a great musical!” and then he wrote TWO MORE, destroying EVEN MORE every time in his wake, until finally, finally, he stopped after making Edgeworth straight and time traveling into the past to face off against a corrupt Gregory. I guess that was the last straw.
I have to issue a disclaimer here that for legal reasons this is a joke. I don’t actually hate this man and would not punch him in the face if I met him because that would be rude, and he is entitled to his wrong interpretation of the games. I don’t know what his thought process was. But allegedly he did play the games seven times according to the wiki. This whole essay here is satire and not slander and I don’t want to offend this guy if he somehow stumbles across my nonsense tumblr post. At the same time: Suzuki Kei blink twice if you need help.
Anyways half the reason that I’m making this essay is because I want to share my fake ao3 page for this musical. The other half will become apparent later.

Also in the author’s note I said he played the games four times but it was actually seven I just remembered wrong because I didn’t want to believe it.
at this point you may be like “Grace shut up and get to the actual musical” and okay, fine, let’s start this nonsense. Also note that I may be referencing things from my essay on the second musical very frequently; I’m not going to force you to go read that though because the fact that you’re reading this is enough of a torment already.
The Musical Begins
Unlike the second musical, this one opens with some narration from Phoenix.

Transcript:
Phoenix: I’m reviewing a particular case at the moment. To me, this case... is one I’ll never forget.
Immediately I think this is important because it establishes that this whole musical takes place in a flashback that Phoenix is reflecting on. Why is this important? Because we know, by the time of the second musical which takes place three years later, Leona is dead.
Knowing that Leona is inherently doomed to die of her Sad Woman Disease paints this whole musical in a different light. It’s not Phoenix reflecting on how he got back together with his lover; it’s Phoenix dwelling on their past together, and the opportunities they had, before her life was so cruelly and inexplicably taken away. We don’t know if Phoenix’s reminiscing takes place before or after Leona’s death... but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was after.
Phoenix, still in the present, starts to sing. “A wave appears on the horizon like a mirage, it trembles, then vanishes. Your voice, carried upon the waves, fades upon the shore, erasing the splendor of the past.”
This line actually shows up in the second musical, sung by Lucia about her imprisoned fiance quite possibly. It’s kind of hard to tell what the meaning of these songs even are. They’re too abstract for me I think. But this line appears very frequently in the first musical when Phoenix is thinking about Leona.
Then we enter the flashback time.
Phoenix inexplicably yells at a newspaper saleswoman. This is not relevant to anything whatsoever. Then Larry barges in to the office, looking for Maya. Phoenix describes him as “A real trouble maker, but you just can’t hate the guy”, the latter part of which I think many people would disagree with. 
Well, afterwards, Maya comes in. Phoenix describes her like this while making exaggerated “can you believe this shit” gestures.

Phoenix: She’s as ditzy as they come. Oh, and about the outfit... Apparently she comes from a family of spirit mediums. Try not to make fun of her, okay?
Suzuki Kei personally has it out for Maya and I can never forgive him for it. Maya in these musicals is here for pure comedic relief but it’s not even comedic because I just get so angry. How can you play the trilogy seven times and think this about her?? The girl who figured out DL-6?? The girl who told Phoenix to sacrifice her life in order to find the truth?? The girl who put on a brave smile in order to try and cheer up her younger cousin even after she saw her own mother murdered right in front of her eyes?? That Maya Fey?? Ditzy as they come??????
Ugh. Moving on.
Maya and Larry run off, leaving Phoenix to watch the American Broadcast.

Important things to note here are the Godot mug, the little line up of what I think are the messed up little ace attorney figurines beneath the screen, and the fact that while this broadcast is supposedly from and to America the screen is actually not at all showing America. Like literally almost everywhere in the world except North and South America.
The broadcast says that Leona Clyde, age 24, was arrested for murdering the senator Robert Cole! Leona Clyde -- that’s Phoenix’s ex-girlfriend! He runs off to the detention center.
She is not happy to see him.

Game Phoenix: Huh? Isn’t it obvious? I’m going to prove that Miles Edgeworth is innocent.

Leona: I never thought that you’d be representing me.
Phoenix: Ah, who could have guessed this day would come?
Edgeworth: Not me.

Phoenix: You believed in me. You saved me. And this time, I swear... I swear I’ll save you!
Game Phoenix: Edgeworth believed in me, and I believe in him. I’m the only one who knows the real Edgeworth. I’m the only one who can help him.
I could’ve done a few more, but tumblr is already threatening to murder my laptop.
So long story short, Phoenix manages to convince his lover to let him be the defense on the case. Then immediately after swearing to save Leona, he starts singing a song, which I’m not screencapping because this is enough:
“As long as there are people in this world, there’s only one path I will follow! As long as there is love in this world, there’s only one path I will believe in!”
Edgeworth sings this in the second musical after saying that he returned to California because of Phoenix. Phoenix sings it now after swearing to defend Leona. You draw your own conclusions.
And then we finally get the opening credits. Eleven minutes in.
Just Pretend This Is Narumitsu Fanfiction
Following the credits, we see a beautiful beach. Couples (exclusively heterosexual, of course,) dance and embrace in the background for some time, before revealing Phoenix and Leona, in the Even Further Past, before the LSATs or whatever the ace attorney universe’s excuse for law school exams are.
Phoenix establishes his absolute hatred of change, an important characterization moment.

Phoenix: The view here never changes, huh?
Phoenix reminisces on when they were kids. Leona’s parents were both lawyers (they’re both lawyers) and sometimes they would be like lawyers with her when she was a kid. This inspired her to also become a lawyer after their tragic death of Sickness. They never specify what the sickness is that caused two people who must be relatively young to die while Leona was in her early twenties at the latest. It may be whatever sickness claimed Leona’s life later. Sad Woman Disease. (Sad Man Disease for her father, I guess?)
Phoenix also talks about why he’s becoming a lawyer.

Phoenix: Watching you chase your dream inspired me to become a lawyer too.
So, it’s not “my childhood friend looked sad in a newspaper” because I guess that makes no sense or is too gay or something. But this is another important piece of Phoenix characterization. His entire life so far has been focused around Leona. They’ve been friends since they were kids, and then Phoenix decided to become a lawyer solely because Leona was becoming a lawyer. Not even to try and get back into contact with her after she moved away or anything; just because he’s so obsessed with her that he wants to have the same career as her, then they can run a Mom & Pop Law Firm or something, years in the future, after years of happy marriage and a few children or like whatever the hell.
Well, there’s a few steps they’ll need to get to that. At this point Phoenix still hasn’t confessed his feelings for Leona. He does so here, on this beach.
Leona tries to protest.

Leona: But I’m pushy, selfish, and only care about my goals... You’d get fed up with me.
Phoenix: That’s what I’ve always admired about you. That’s who I’ve been chasing all these years. That’s the only person... I love.
Sooo, Phoenix, your type is pushy selfish people who only care about their goals...? In the first, older lower-quality video translation it was “only care about my work”, too. Hm. Things to think about.
They sing a little duet together. Then we go back to present-day of what’s technically still a flashback. Whatever. Murder is happening.
Back To The Murder
So some plot things to establish: Leona is the legal counsel of Governor Miller, who is running for president in the AMERICAN PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. After the flashback so that Phoenix has some time to change clothes, they show an interview of him talking about the murder.

Governor Miller: I vow to forge a peaceful country with my own two hands, and to prepare myself for whatever may lie ahead.
Reporters: Through thick and thin, he’s a friend of the people!
The Takarazuka musicals are not very good at hiding their killers.

Phoenix: Oh yeah... It’s almost time for the presidential election, isn’t it?
NEVER FORGET, WRIGHT. THIS IS AMERICA. LAND OF THE FREE! god what even was that line.
Anyways, we meet Gumshoe, who is incompetent once again. Maya runs around the crime scene, picks up the murder weapon, puts her fingerprints all over everything, moves things around, all while Phoenix is like “lol get a load of the world’s stupidest girl” or whatever. But who cares about that.
It’s time to get to the only valid part of this musical.
Edgeworth’s Gay Little Villain Solo

You may have seen this one before.
Edgeworth arrives, but not really. It’s like Phoenix heard Edgeworth was prosecuting and immediately entered a dream-like state, where Edgeworth is heralded by the sound of trumpets in Great Revival. He’s played by a different actress than in the other two musicals, since I think she retired in between the six or so months from this musical to the second. She still plays the role well, though, or as well as can be when you’re written in an ace attorney Takarazuka musical.
Shrouded in scarlet solitude... it’s Edgeworth.

Yes, those are six Edgeworths. Yes, they pick Phoenix up and carry him around and dance with him. Yes, it was probably not meant to be at all homoerotic.

He sings a song that’s called “My rule”. I only figured this out later, but it’s loosely based on a “catchphrase” of his in the Japanese version - in game 1 he says something along the lines of “All I can do is get every defendant declared guilty! So I make that my policy.” In DD in his dramatic anime introduction before the trial, he says “I intend to question the defendant with all I have. For that is a part of my creed.” “So I make that my policy” and “For that is a part of my creed”, to my understanding, are both translated from the same line, which I think is like, “sore ga watashi no ruru”, “That is my rule.” (If I’m wrong, please correct me.) In this song he sings about how he’ll reduce all criminals to ash and such, basically talks about his game 1 prosecuting strategy as “my rule”.

It’s very fun and probably if you want to only watch one number of this musical, it can be this one. It starts about 26:10 in the video I linked.
Once the musical number is done, Phoenix and Edgeworth stare at each other, and the background fades into the courtroom, so court begins. I feel like I should note that Phoenix has not picked up any evidence or talked to any witnesses in this investigation except for Gumshoe, since Maya just moved some things around and then Phoenix had some weird fever dream about Edgeworth which presumably took up the rest of the day.
The Trial, Day 1

Edgeworth: Consider it a prelude to the poignant Greek tragedy that’s about to unfold.
Maya: The real tragedy’s your pompous attitude!
Those are the only screenshots I took of this trial day. Here’s a summary, though:
The trial starts off with Leona confessing, Phoenix says “no I think she’s innocent”, and since ace attorney doesn’t care about the defendant’s wishes he’s allowed to proceed. For some reason Leona lets him do this without complaint. 
Gumshoe is the first witness, he claims to have caught Leona red-handed at the scene of the crime, standing over the corpse. Phoenix tries to claim that since Gumshoe didn’t see Leona committing the crime, he didn’t actually catch her red-handed, to which Edgeworth responds “What do you think being caught red-handed means?” 
Once Gumshoe is dismissed, Lotta takes the stand. She has a photo of the actual moment of the crime, where Leona is holding a knife in the air in front of the victim. 
The Takarazuka musicals like to do this thing where the image is blurry and zoomed out, but then Phoenix will go “I’VE NOTICED A CONTRADICTION” and it zooms in really far as the resolution increases drastically in order to show you the contradiction that is impossible to spot for yourself, because they don’t want people figuring out the mystery in this musical based off of a video game where you have to solve the mystery yourself. Anyways Phoenix zooms in on this photo and sees that there’s blood on Leona’s hand, presumably before she stabbed the victim. How did it get there?
Edgeworth suggests the victim was stabbed multiple times. Phoenix says the autopsy report contradicts that. Edgeworth, uncharacteristically, does not update it to suit his argument. 
Phoenix concludes that this photo is not showing the moment Leona stabbed the victim, but the moment Leona removed the knife! ... Which somehow casts doubt on her having been the one to stab the victim. Because as everyone knows, anyone wanting to kill someone would never remove a knife, it’s not like they’d bleed out faster that way, or anything.
And this whole contradiction is confusing because presumably if the victim was stabbed and then the knife was removed, they’d know that happened, because then the knife would not be found stuck in the victim’s body, since the victim was only stabbed once. So this shouldn’t be news to the prosecution that someone removed the knife after stabbing. But the investigation was headed by the most incompetent version of Gumshoe ever, so. sure. I guess no one knew.
That at least manages to extend the trial another day.
This Totally Has To Be Illegal
After the trial, Phoenix goes to talk to Governor Miller, aka Mr. Totally The Real Killer. Phoenix asks him why he decided to hire Leona as his legal advisor.
Basically, it’s because her parents were both renowned lawyers. Her father was a Chief Prosecutor, and her mother was a defense attorney. ... a prosecutor and a defense attorney couple... who does that remind us of...
Phoenix points out that just because her parents were good lawyers, it doesn’t mean she’d necessarily be one. Miller says that, sure, but she is actually really talented, and her law school marks were spectacular. Phoenix says “WHY WERE YOU LOOKING AT HER LAW SCHOOL MARKS”, like it’s somehow? suspicious? for a government official hiring legal counsel to look at their law school marks?
Apparently it IS suspicious because Governor Miller freaks out and asks if this is an interrogation. Before Phoenix can press much further, he gets a phone call, and leaves Phoenix alone in a big room.
So naturally Phoenix behaves like a fully grown adult running a law firm.

If all he did was sit in the chair, lift up a desk lamp, and poke his finger on a pen, that’s one thing. But then he leans over, OPENS THE GOVERNOR’S DESK DRAWER, and finds a knife that’s just sitting there casually. It looks like a butter knife. It’s not anything major. Maybe the dude just wanted to butter his toast?

I mean I know Phoenix will dig around in stuff whenever in the games, but he has no reason to suspect Governor Miller at all, much less dig through his drawer probably full of confidential government documents to lift up a knife that he thinks is suspicious. It’s not even covered in blood or anything?
Naturally Governor Miller’s assistant comes in just then, and Phoenix puts the knife. in his breast pocket. 
bud. It may look like a butter knife, but putting knives up against your chest is not a great idea. Much less stealing a knife from a governor? 
Well, in his panic, he accidentally knocks over a bunch of books on the desk. The governor’s assistant helps him pick them up, and they find a photo. Look a little familiar?

The photo has the assistant, the victim Robert Cole, Governor Miller, and the victim’s brother who died in an incident two years ago. He’s the “Neil Marshall” of this musical, and he died in what was essentially the SL-9 incident. Same general premise, except it occurred in the courthouse, and the names are different.
AND FINALLY WE REACH THE END OF ACT 1. They do a musical number here which is a weird sort of mashup of the main opening credits song, Edgeworth’s Villain Solo, and the love duet between Phoenix and Leona. They are all such different songs that it sounds a little weird.
ACT 2, FINALLY
The act begins on a sour note with Maya playing with the knife and showing off her characterization, which is one of the most infuriating Maya characterizations you’ll sometimes see around the fandom by people who don’t like Maya.

Maya: Let me whip up my special spirit channeler hamburgers!
sigh.
But then we’re saved (?) by the arrival of EDGEWORTH, who is presumably just here to chat. He asks Phoenix if he’s defending Leona in hopes of winning her back, then says to keep out of it, since it’s a very important case and he can’t understand the gravity of it.
Then Phoenix says this.

Phoenix: Would you be saying that if you were the one on trial? The defendant is in a dark prison, reaching out for hope... Can you imagine the loneliness and sorrow of being ostracized?
CAN YOU IMAGINE IT, EDGEWORTH? CAN YOU IMAGINE IF YOU WERE ON TRIAL AND I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO WOULD DEFEND YOU AND BELIEVED IN YOUR INNOCENCE??
Edgeworth responds to this by essentially rehashing his speech in Turnabout Sisters about how he needs to find all defendants guilty because he can’t guarantee their innocence and all that. Maya gets upset and leaves so that Phoenix and Edgeworth can talk about their childhood in private.
Phoenix once again complains about how people change since nine years old.

Phoenix then says that he has something Edgeworth doesn’t: the POWER TO BELIEVE! Then Maya comes in and tries to spike Edgeworth’s coffee, so he leaves.
The Class Trial
Phoenix explains a bit about Edgeworth and his backstory to Maya. Namely, the class trial. Phoenix was accused of stealing lunch money, Edgeworth stood up for him, but instead of Larry, Leona stood up for him. I guess Suzuki Kei thought “oh the class trial, if Leona stood up for him, it would be so romantic, because she’s a woman, and he’s a man”, or something like that. 
Edgeworth wanted to become a Great Lawyer Like His Father! But then he turned cold as ice.

Phoenix: His father got too deeply involved in a case... and paid for it with his life. Edgeworth saw him murdered. He was never the same again. I bet he couldn’t forgive the criminal.
Yeah I bet he couldn’t ever forgive the person he thought killed his father all these years, Phoenix. I bet he really hates that person, Phoenix. I bet he has nightmares about that person killing his father or something, Phoenix.

Phoenix: He vanished, then returned without his mercy or compassion. He had become a monster. When he lost his father, he also lost the ability to believe in others.
So like... one of the most chilling things about this musical is that they never actually solve DL-6. This probably roughly takes place 15 years after DL-6, since they were about the same age when the class trial started, and at least Leona is 24 now. The next musical takes place three years from now, and in it, Edgeworth refers to von Karma as his mentor, implying he’s still around and doing things.
So, in addition to everything else going wrong with this musical, DL-6 still happens, but von Karma never frames Edgeworth for it fifteen years later. The statute of limitations runs out, and von Karma forever gets away with his crime. And Edgeworth has no idea.
What changes did they make to DL-6, though, you may ask? I’m desperate to know as well. In the third musical, which I’ve watched because I hate myself but am unable to fully understand because I don’t know much Japanese, there is a scene where Miles flashbacks to DL-6. It’s abstract, but he makes gun-throwing motions at Gregory, followed by a gunshot sound.
Therefore, in this musical’s internal canon, either Miles Edgeworth shot his father, or he believes he did for the rest of his life.
... moving on.

Phoenix: But he still has his humanity. It’s still there, deep down inside!
At least, if nothing else, Phoenix still believes in him. Even this Takarazuka Musical couldn’t touch that.
The Feenie Sweater
Right after this, Larry barges in, and Phoenix leaves him alone with Maya. The musical tries teasing Larry/Maya, but fortunately, Maya’s having none of it.

Maya: You’re barking up the wrong tree.
Props to this musical for not being as bad as it could have been.
After this, the two sit down on the couch, and Maya asks for more gossip on Phoenix and Leona. Larry launches into a story, which turns into a flashback that ends up being narrated by Phoenix halfway through. This one’s about Phoenix and Leona’s relationship.

This is an interesting line in here, “I’ll guide you to the future”, for it loosely referencing the sort of love ballad Phoenix sings with Lucia in the second musical which is about “I’ll take you to that radiant future”, and he later sings to the memory of Leona right around the time of his big spiral into despair.
I’m sorry if you haven’t read my other essay and just said “wait what” to what I just typed.
Leona was getting ready to move to New York to defend the weak “in the big city”. This is rather strange wording because it implies that California does not in fact have a big city. She says some things in her conversation with Phoenix that probably plant some of his later issues.

Leona: This is the first time we’ll be apart since we were kids.

Leona: We promised we’d always be together.

Leona: I’ll be waiting. Waiting for you to come to me.
Haha. Sure would be a shame... if something were to happen... and they wouldn’t be able to be together anymore...
So some dancers wearing black come in and take off their outer jackets, to symbolize the passage of time. They circle around Phoenix and Leona. In this, you can just barely see, Phoenix is wearing a pink sweater beneath his jacket.

“Oh,” I think to myself, “Is that the Feenie sweater? Are they including it here as a reference to the games?”
Then the dancers keep moving.

THAT IS NOT THE FEENIE SWEATER. That is a pink sweater with a sexily drawn woman on it.

This is the other half of the reason why I decided to go through with making this essay. 
This is so incredibly funny to me. Suzuki Kei Who Has Played The Games Seven Times has seen the hand-knit bright pink sweater with a giant red heart on it seven times. The sweater Iris, Phoenix’s girlfriend, lovingly knit for him that he wears all the time even though it is one of the tackiest, cheesiest items of clothing to ever exist. And so, when the costume designers were designing the clothes for College Phoenix Wright, they asked themselves: “Should we include the Feenie sweater?”
and “NO,” someone must have shouted, “NO, we can NOT include the Feenie sweater, it is PINK and it has a HEART on it and it’s TOO GIRLY. Phoenix Wright is a MANLY MAN. He would not EVER wear something PINK with a HEART on it.”
“BUT,” someone else said, “it’s a REFERENCE to the original games, where he DID wear a pink sweater with a heart on it! We MUST include it to pander to the fans!”
“WAIT,” a third person interjected. “I have a BRILLIANT IDEA. We can keep the pink... But to make it VERY CLEAR he is a heterosexual, masculine male... we put a sexy woman on it.”
And Person Three Got A Raise.
Thank god we’re finally halfway done this musical.
We Just Have To Go On With Our Lives Now
There’s plot or something happening. Leona breaks up with Phoenix inexplicably over the phone. Probably because of that freaking sweater. Imagine wearing that. God.
Eventually we go back to Phoenix talking to Leona, and he asks about the Jack Lyon case, which is the rip-off version of the Joe Darke case. Leona is pretty cagey about it, but Phoenix proves that she was there in the gallery that day. Leona refuses to answer, claims again that she killed the victim in her case, and leaves.
This makes Phoenix sad, so he starts singing.

Phoenix: I want to bring you back! I believe in you.
If this sounds familiar, it’s the part where I started absolutely losing my mind in the second musical because this line had never shown up before then, I’d forgotten it was in this musical, and Phoenix was screaming it alone in a red room, so I thought he was like desperately resorting to a necromancy ritual in hopes of bringing Leona back to life.
Instead, this line actually has CONTEXT, though it does just end up enforcing my theory. This is Phoenix mourning what he used to have with Leona, wanting to bring the “old her” back, because he’s devastated that people sometimes change. There are several flashbacks of their college days where he’s wearing his Sexy Woman Sweater. He does succeed in winning her back at the end of this musical. Before she dies, of course.
Phoenix in musical 2 still believes that he can bring back what he used to have with Leona... even beyond death. That’s something affirmed by this musical. I’m very grateful to it for somehow managing to enforce my nonsensical theory.
Doctor Ema
After this, Phoenix returns to his office, and meets with someone new.

That’s right! Only now, halfway through the musical, do we actually get to meet the Ema-equivalent to Leona’s Lana-equivalent. Her name is Monica Clyde. She has little rainbow heart stickers on her briefcase, which is the closest thing this musical has to acknowledging that gay people exist.

But what does this little briefcase contain, you may ask? Scientific investigation tools? No.

A full surgical toolset. Because you never know when someone’ll get sick, or when someone will need an entire operation in front of you. I guess.
So yes, Monica Clyde is not a forensic scientist in training, but a doctor! She decided to become a doctor because of her parents, who passed away of The Sickness, and so became a doctor in order to save lives like theirs.
Once more this has much darker and deeper implications than the musical is even aware of, because Monica is so anxious about treating sick people that she carries a full surgical toolset around with her at all times, scared to lose someone like she lost her parents... and then sometime in the next three years, Leona, her big sister, is going to die.
Of what? The strange Sickness that claimed her parents? A car accident? A botched spur-of-the-moment surgery? Whatever it is, Monica was unable to save her, even when she’d been training her entire life for it.
Monica is not mentioned at all throughout the second musical. It’s as if she does not exist.
Because unlike Ema of Rise From The Ashes, Monica is not at the heart of this story. She is, primarily, a plot device here to make Leona not trust Phoenix so that he can angst about their relationship. 
What a mess this world is.
The Trial, Part 2
Rather than try to prove Leona’s innocence, Phoenix wants to link the current case to not-SL-9, the Jack Lyon case. He does this by showing this picture.

Senator Cole, the victim, is in this picture. His younger brother whose name I’ve forgotten, the victim of not-SL-9, is also in this picture. They are brothers. It is apparently novel that they are in the same picture, and somehow makes their cases linked.
As well, Governor Miller is in the picture. I guess you could say like... Governor Miller’s legal counsel is the defendant, so that’s another link? Even though the Governor would presumably know a Senator, so this isn’t an unusual group. Right now Phoenix has absolutely nothing to prove that these two cases are linked other than “hey, these two victims are brothers”, but apparently it works. So they spend a lot of time talking about not-SL-9, since Leona has confessed to the murder on day 1 and there is absolutely nothing indicating that she can’t be immediately declared guilty.
They hid the fact that Monica was a hostage in this not-SL-9, meaning that some of the case records were forged. Here’s Edgeworth’s reaction when this comes out.

Edgeworth: This is an outrage! I’m the most influential prosecutor in America! There’s nothing I don’t know!
In RFTA, when Edgeworth learns he’d been using forged evidence to give a man the death penalty, he is devastated, his entire worldview is shaken, he sees himself as a monster who could end up becoming horribly corrupt if he isn’t stopped.
Musical Edgeworth goes “I DIDN’T KNOW SOMETHING???”
It’s certainly strange characterization, but I guess Edgeworth is further behind in his character arc than in RFTA, so... ugh. Fine. 
Phoenix calls Monica out as a witness to prove she was involved in the case. This causes Leona to panic, and try to dismiss Phoenix as her attorney, like Lana in RFTA, but Edgeworth interjects to call Monica in anyways. He and Phoenix have a little moment.

Edgeworth: You said to believe in others. I suppose I’ll try believing in you. Try to keep up.
Phoenix: Edgeworth!
So Monica comes to the stand to testify. We get to see this picture of Monica being held hostage, and not-Joe-Darke’s incredible eyeliner.

Lots of it is very similar to the actual RFTA, except instead of the victim being stabbed on the knight with the giant knife, he’s instead stabbed with a regular old knife. Leona still refuses to admit to what really happened, until Edgeworth convinces her to believe in Phoenix.

Edgeworth: Your attorney is a runaway train with a one-track mind. Yet he placed all of his faith in you. Believe in him. You owe him that much.
Leona testifies, and says that when she found the victim, he was stabbed with a scalpel.
Here is where things get weird.
Scalpels Can’t Kill People
So basically earlier in this trial, they talk about how Leona knew that the knife that stabbed the victim was double-edged despite being buried in his chest. The judge questions if this means Leona killed him, but Phoenix is quick to say no, she was searched when she entered the courthouse and couldn’t have concealed a knife.
Yet, Monica was able to bring in her surgical toolkit which contains several sharp knives, scalpels, scissors, etc.
This is the first major contradiction.
Leona continues to say that when she found Monica, and the scalpel stabbed in the victim, she also ran into Governor Miller, who if you haven’t been able to tell yet is the Gant-equivalent of this musical. He offered to help her with the cover-up, etc.
The next bit goes a lot like RFTA. Phoenix accuses Governor Miller, who barges in, says Phoenix has the decisive evidence in his pocket. This is the “butter knife” that Phoenix took from his office when he dug around in confidential documents and stole it for no particular reason. It has Monica’s fingerprints on it! ... And Phoenix’s and Maya’s too probably because they were handling it without gloves, but they don’t mention that part.
Leona cries about how she shouldn’t have trusted Phoenix because he was apparently now blaming Monica, Monica looks terrified, she and Leona have some good sister moments but it’s not as good as it could be if the story was actually about Leona and Monica like how RFTA was about Lana and Ema. But Phoenix has the decisive piece of evidence that can turn this around.

Phoenix: Scalpels are made for medical incisions, not stabbings. So how did it stab the victim?

... What?
So like. Yes, scalpels are made for medical incisions. Medical incisions often involve cutting through flesh, very easily. As a result, they are sharp. Extremely sharp. As in: their purpose is literally to stab people, very specifically.
Yes, they’re easier to control, so that surgeons don’t regularly stab people how they’re not supposed to be stabbed, but it’s not like, impossible to stab someone in a killing way with a scalpel? Admittedly, I have never tried to kill someone using a scalpel. And I do not have experience using a scalpel for surgeries because I am not a surgeon. But I’m pretty sure, if you take a sharp scalpel, and you stab someone in the chest with it with a reasonable amount of force... they die.
Like, is this a particular kind of scalpel that is not very sharp? Is the problem that the blade doesn’t match up with the initial wound? But even then, we don’t have the original unforged autopsy report or even a picture, so how would Phoenix know what the original wound looked like to say it didn’t match up? And even then why wouldn’t Phoenix say that instead of SCALPELS CAN’T STAB PEOPLE???
This is his decisive contradiction and it makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE TO ME!!!
Well Darn I Guess Scalpels Can’t Kill People
This is such a decisive piece of evidence, that scalpels can’t kill people, coming from the man who thought “caught red-handed” does not involve being caught standing over a corpse with blood on your hands, that it causes Governor Miller to confess.
Unlike Gant, who created the murder with Neil Marshall both to ensure that there was decisive evidence to convict Joe Darke, a serial killer who had not left any decisive evidence behind, and gain control over the prosecutor’s office in order to pull similar stunts to get criminals convicted using false evidence, Governor Miller does not have that as his motive. After all, he’s not a police officer. Instead, he ended up accidentally killing not-Joe-Darke, and then set up the incident in order to get Leona on his side. As her parents were both influential lawyers and very respectable, having her and her parents’ reputation on his side could help him become President of America Where This Takes Place.
So, let’s just take a moment to run over some of the things that made the original Rise From The Ashes great, in my opinion. Just for fun.
1 - The heart of the story between the Skye sisters. Lana closing off to protect Ema, Ema wanting to get through to her sister and get back to the way things used to be. Phoenix, in this story, is more of a bystander to this plotline rather than in the heart of it himself.
2 - Edgeworth’s Character Development. Basically RFTA creates an interesting transition between Turnabout Goodbyes and JFA. It causes Edgeworth to re-evaluate everything he knows about being a prosecutor. So quickly on the heels of Turnabout Goodbyes, it crushes the last bit of hope in him. It compares him to Gant, who also hates criminals, and forces him to wonder if his hatred of crime will one day lead to him being a criminal himself. He’s already convicted one person on forged evidence; how many others could there be?
3 - The Ends Justify The Means. ... wait come back, don’t leave. What I found neat about this case was also Gant’s motive. At one point he was presumably an honest person who hated crime and wanted to stop criminals. But over time in the police force, he became corrupted. He wanted to have all criminals convicted. So what do you do when you don’t have the evidence to convict them? Joe Darke was a serial killer who has killed several people and may have killed more if he’d gone free. The only way to stop and convict him was by using forged evidence. Other criminals could hide evidence to get away with their crimes, so people like Gant would make it up to catch them; but then when do you stop? What happens if there’s no evidence because someone is truly innocent? When does the line between “this person is a criminal and I want to stop them” and “I just want to convict everyone I’m dealing with” become blurred? This is also something he shares with Edgeworth and helps to advance his character.
All three of these things are either lessened or outright ignored in this musical. Leona and Monica’s story takes a backseat to Phoenix and Leona’s Love Story, with Monica only showing up halfway through, and mainly as an excuse as to why Leona is withdrawn. Edgeworth doesn’t seem to blame himself for the forged evidence he used, and doesn’t have a crisis questioning his morality over it. And Governor Miller’s motive is purely power. Unlike Gant, who would have become Chief of Police whether he solved SL-9 or not, Miller needed Leona to win the presidency. And instead of asking her to help him with his campaign like a normal person, he just blackmailed her instead.
... How do you play the games seven times and miss this much?
The Case Finally Ends
god. we’re almost there.
The case ends, Leona is declared not guilty but will still face trial for covering up murders and such. Probably less of a sentence than Lana because she was not involved in ongoing police corruption? Either way she’s dead in three years, so she’s got something a bit more concerning coming up.
She’s led away. Phoenix sings a bit about Leona before being interrupted by Edgeworth... who has something important to tell him.

Edgeworth: You awakened within me those once-cherished emotions I had discarded. I see visions of a distant, nostalgic past.
So basically this is the unnecessary feelings of the musical. Something along the lines of “seeing you again and fighting for my former ideals is making me question many things about myself.”
How does Phoenix respond?

Phoenix: Edgeworth... Try talking normally for a chance.
Sure, we were all thinking it, but that’s a little cold, Phoenix.
Edgeworth tries a smooth recovery.

Edgeworth: I don’t do... idle chit-chat.
This doesn’t accomplish much. So he leaves to allow Leona to visit with Phoenix alone. He’s got to go change for something more important coming up.
Leona and Phoenix decide that they’re going to get back together once Leona is done her sentence! They make a promise that is very funny if you know she’ll be dead in three years.

Phoenix: I’ll be waiting. For you.
There are a lot of hugs here, I’m not screencapping them all. There are also several moments where their faces get very close together and like, their nose brushes the other’s cheek or something, but they never actually kiss. Is it because the actresses weren’t comfortable with it (valid), or they thought kissing would be too much for the musical (sure, whatever), or since both characters are played by women the show staff did not want two women kissing on stage (probably the real answer)? I don’t like watching kisses, but I kept bracing myself for one and then it never happened, so.
Phoenix ends the main part of the musical with one last musical number starring my personal favourite piece:

Phoenix: I want to bring you back! I believe in you.
I like to think that at this point, this is present-day Phoenix, after finishing his reminiscing, still desperately wishing he could bring Leona back from death.
But alas, he cannot. And so, after one last daydream of them dancing together on the beaches of California, singing about their love, the musical ends.
Dance Time!
This starts at exactly the two hour mark, if you’re interested in watching what is, once again, one of the only fun parts of this musical.
Seriously, Edgeworth’s actress kills it here, when I first saw this I went “oh, this is why I saw so many people being gay for her on twitter.”

Edgeworth’s song is an encore of “My Rule”, so it’s lots of fun. Afterwards Phoenix gets another fun piece.

Then we get to the love ballad part, which I can probably overanalyze, I feel like I haven’t done enough ridiculous over-analyzing in this essay in comparison to the other.

Uhhh so the fog represents how Phoenix feels lost in this world without Leona. You can see it in the second screenshot separating the two of them, representing the barrier of death between the two of them. Idk it’s midnight I’m getting worn out from having to think about this musical for so long.
But his mourning over Leona’s death becomes even more apparent in the credits, where Phoenix sings that one line again:

Phoenix: I want to bring you back! I believe in you.
I’m not fixing that screenshot, I think it’s oddly fitting, in a way. That’s me right now.
Then at the very end, he sings this song.

Phoenix: I’ll spend... this eternal life... soaring through... the heavens!
Technically, this refers to his name Phoenix, but let’s dig a little deeper. He spends the rest of his life soaring through the heavens... the heavens that Leona went to after her untimely death, perhaps?
Overall, the musical becomes much more interesting when you just see it as a prequel to the second musical. This musical establishes many core concepts of Phoenix’s character: his refusal to believe in the concept of things changing, for one, and also his extreme dependency on Leona who he was never separated from since they were kids and where he based his entire life around her dreams and ideals. All he can think about is her. And in the end, he promises to wait for her in California.
Yet, to paraphrase Miles Edgeworth, all that is waiting for him is her death. Their dream of opening up a Mom & Pop Law Firm will never come true.

My Thoughts on Reboots, Remakes, Sequels, and Spinoffs
Hey there everybody! I know that everyone and their mother have an opinion on this topic, but I just wanted to added my two cents on to to something that wasn’t going to be that long.
Part of the reason I’m doing this post is because two series I loved dearly when I was younger, Winx Club and Inuyasha, have gotten a live action remake series and a sequel series. Now I’m not here to talk on the many MANY wrongs of Fate The Winx Saga or the issues of Yashahime because other people have already went into detail on that stuff. Instead I’m going to talk about what I feel like adapting old properties as whole.
As we fully know and acknowledge, nostalgia is a powerful force with an iron grip and Hollywood and other film/tv makers are doing their best to exploit our nostalgia for as much cash as they can get from us. It’s considered less work and less risky to adapt an older project with a ready fanbase than it is come up with an original property. Most of the time these things aren’t made because there is more to expand on in either the work’s world or characters or bring a new fresh take to it, but because it would make money. Manipulative as it is, its sound business logic.
That being said: remakes, reboots, spinoffs, and sequels aren’t inherently bad. When done well, they don’t just keep to the heart and soul of the original work, they SURPASS it. There’s nothing wrong with changing things from the source material, especially if it’s to add more diversity to the line up or correct a problematic element found in the original series. Even if an interpretation doesn��t hold a candle to the original, it’s still fun to see what creators can dream up for a franchise. For example, Batman the Animated Series will always be the definitive Batman experience for me, but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy Batman Beyond, Batman the Brave and the Bold, the Dark Knight, Arkham Asylum, or other adaptations of the character.
The problem is more often than not, these projects are not handled well. As I said before, it’s more to make money than to actually be a good and/or faithful adaptation. I think everyone remembers the fiasco that was the live action Jem and the Holograms film from a couple years ago. That movie did the worse thing an adaptation can do for fans: used the the name for brand recognition and threw just about everything out from the original series to appeal to the modern crowd (by the way the makers of this movie didn’t even seem to understand THAT demographic), spitting in the face of the original fans. It honestly wasn’t that surprising the film was pulled from theaters so quickly. As a Winx Club fan, I can relate to Jem fans now in a way that I wasn’t able to back then.
Now some would say fans can be extremely judgmental and toxic when it comes to any changes to their beloved franchises. To an extent, I do agree. For example, I was almost five years old when the Star Wars Prequels came out and thus didn’t really get the hate for it because I didn’t have the nostalgia the older fans did. Now that I am older and have watched both trilogies, I can acknowledge that the original trilogy was better in terms of story and characters, but those films are far from perfect. And you got to give the prequel trilogy credit in that had a distinct definite vision and that it was telling its own story, not just relying on what came before. 
But in my honest opinion, I think a lot of the hate from fans of these series comes from the fact that these adaptations more often than not seem to spite the fans and butcher the things they used to love. And considering this is where the original buzz and money come from for these projects, it feels like those behind these projects are going for short term cash rather than long term gain.
I think sequel series in particular can come as off very problematic if their continuation seems to retcon or destroy a very good and satisfying ending. Part of why I can’t really get behind Yashahime is because it feels like the series kind of invalidates the really good ending of the original series and how poorly it has treated the og characters. A series’ ending is arguably the hardest thing to pull off well, it’s one thing to start strong but its another thing to carry that quality to end of the story. And even if a finale isn’t bad, it can still be controversial or divisive among fans. Ducktales 2017 is a great series, but even it stumbled in its finale. Anyone who’s seen it can probably guess what I’m talking about. 
So, how should we approach these projects? I think the best mindset to going into these continuations is cautious optimism. That way you’ll be surprised if it turns out to be good, but not too disappointed if it turns out to be the opposite.
And if nothing else there is this comfort for us who live in this time: where canon fails, there is fan fiction. Seriously, I see more passion, creativity, and quality from things I read and view for free on the internet than things that have huge production teams and tons of money poured into them.
Sorry if this just seems like a ramble to you guys, but you know sometimes that there are things you just need to get out there. And hey it turns out this my 100th post on tumblr. So yay to me.

~ Dance of the Poison Ivy ~

Anyway if tumblr could Not butcher the quality that'd be fantastic.
Ivy stared down at the dress she wore, slowly taking deep breaths. In... and out. In, and out again. Herself, her sister Serenity, and the two's best friend Farren, had all been getting ready at the former's house for the wedding of a lifetime- between Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour.
Still, she felt... uncertain. Even after all these years- all the struggles she went through not just with the cursed vaults but with her own being, dysphoria was ever present in the back of her mind.
Serenity watched her sister as she looked over herself in the mirror, sighing softly with a somber smile as she walked over.
"Ivy? Is everything okay?" She asked, not wanting to push her younger sister into a response. Ivy simply fiddled with a chunk of her hair- most of it being strewn down her back as she looked between herself in the mirror, and the dark haired ravenclaw beside her.
"Yeah, I'm alright. Just feeling a bit uneasy. Are you sure I look alright? Was yellow a good choice to wear?" She smoothed out the dress, it's pastel yellow form practically bouncing as she stood. Serenity only motioned for Ivy to sit down on the chair next to her, before shaking her head.
"You look gorgeous, Ivy. Mom wouldn't have it any other way, you know," As Ivy sat down, Serenity tended to the mass of wavy hair, snagging one of Ivy's favorite hair ties off the dresser and slowly beginning to bunch the lot of chestnut locks together, "Plus, that potion we found hasn't even worn off. It's been years since you drank it, whats the chances of it wearing off now?"
"Mm..." It was true, after Serenity found the correct potion in order to properly compose Ivy's body to her own ways years prior, but even still... something still felt off.
As Serenity finished up with Ivy's hair- adjusting the little preserved red rose that was clasped to the hair tie- she turned Ivy around to fix some of her sister's makeup.
"Of all days to get dysphoria, why oh why did it have to be today?!" Ivy remarked with a forlorn sigh, closing her eyes as Serenity touched up the light eyeliner along her eyes. Ivy had decided prior not to do too much for makeup- a light dose of eyeliner would suit just fine. Often, she didn’t wear too much- just enough to look a bit fancy. She does like going all out on occasion though- during pride month or around her birthday. 
Farren only chuckled, as they ran a hand through aburn hair in attempts to fix a single little scrap that wouldn't line up right.
"Hey, look on the flip side, Vee. At least you don't have to watch out for a wayward prankster that is my girlfriend," Farren joked lightly, adjusting the tie they wore and then their vest, twirling to look at themselves in the mirror to make sure there were no creases in their outfit.
Ivy stuttered, trying to make a comeback, but eventually groaned and huffed.
"Fair enough, I guess. I wish you luck keeping her from interrupting the wedding," Ivy said bluntly, Serenity having gotten up- satisfied with her work- and busied herself with the last touches on her own ensemble.
Farren huffed and shook their head, shooting the brunette a teasing side look as Ivy got up.
"It'll be easier than keeping a certain slythrin's hands off ya, I'd say," They rebutted, making Ivy flush bright red.
"I...N-nooooo...??" Ivy stuttered over herself, biting her lip. Serenity giggled a bit.
"I'm fairly sure if any of our brothers caught wind of what we got up to with our partners at this point, they'd all be dead," Serenity responded with, gently meandering over and adding a secondary smaller broach to Ivy's dress, "I still can't believe everyone's coming.."
"Well, so goes the hope anyway." Ivy put in, sighing and running a hand over her face- careful not to mess up the intricate makeup in the process, “Our brothers might not come. Not like any of them were too close to Bill before all of this.” 
“You never know, Ivy,” Serenity added, “At the very least, our parent’s aren’t coming.” 
“Which I think is the only safe-escape here,” Ivy joked, “After last summer, I don’t think mom and dad would let Merula near me again under their supervision.” 
“Look at it this way-” Farren said, “-at least you know your family now truly cares about you, Ivy.”
“Oh no, don’t get me started on that nostalgia trip, I’ll cry-” Ivy said with a little laugh. Ever since the court case, ever since that day over the summer...she’s been a Hortensia. She’s been Serenity’s little sister. She’s been...home. Just thinking about how far she’s come- it always makes her emotional. 
Feeling tears well up in the corners of her eyes, she fights off the urge to rub at her eyes- instead letting them fall into her dress- wiping off the tears from her cheek.
“I still can’t believe it’s been 11 years since all of that happened...” Ivy said softly, as Farren and Serenity kneel beside her, looking at the trio in the mirror,��“...I can’t believe I got through it.” 
“I know. I can’t believe I never heard about any of this until I came to visit in late July!” Farren exclaimed, “I’m still disappointed in you both!”
The two sister’s burst into giggles, “I know, I know, we’re sorry!” Ivy exclaimed, “With everything happening, we didn’t have much time to think.”
A set of chuckles fill the room, soft memories of the past dancing through their minds. From everything that happened- meeting the trio and becoming best friends, to discovering the secrets of the vaults, to getting partners, to Ivy becoming a Hortensia, to finding their brothers and all the way up...to this very moment.
Quiet falls over the room a few moments later, Serenity, Ivy, and Farren all looking to each other in the mirror. Serenity with her bright blue, overly poofy dress; and Farren with their sleek crimson red suit. 
“You guys have always been there for me. I don’t think I ever could thank you enough...” Ivy eventually mumbles, leaning her head against Serenity’s arm. Farren wraps an arm over the brunette’s shoulder, slowly smiling and nuzzling close to their best friend- their family.
“Of course, Ivy. We’ve all been there for eachother,” They said quietly, “Remember- we’re the cursed trio.”
“...And we’ll always be together.” Ivy concluded, giggling before hugging the duo close, “I know.”
Silence fills the dressing room for several minutes, slowly taking a few deep breaths before Farren and Serenity let their arms fall, and Ivy gets up.
“Ready?” Serenity and Farren smile to Ivy, who smiles in return- that bold, confident smile she always held with her. 
“Ready.” 
Ivy smiles, taking her sibling’s hands, headed out of the dressing room to address the crowd.

A/N: This is part one of a hasty, four-day attempt to multi-part a drabble set for @everlarkchristmasgifts ‘s prompts. It may not get done on time, but they say it’s good to believe in miracles at Christmas, lol.

And… *deep inhale, because why on earth am I trying to butcher one of my favorite stand alone drabbles with a sequel???**… this follows on the events of Pasty White Raisin.

“Shopping…”
It was twelve days to Christmas. They’d missed Christmas last year. It could’ve been their first Christmas, but Peeta had been too stubborn to let a woman “waste her life” on a washed-up baker twelve years older than her.
She’d won, by the end of the Winter thaw. He’d already been in love, but he’d finally let himself love, and everything that had seemed to mean to him.
Well, everything within the parameters of being a gentleman.
He’d insisted on her making him work for her good favor, and at first it had been a funny game, his insistence that he court her, a delicious, slow romance of soft kisses and interwoven fingers and getting to know each other over conversations, dinners, or during walks. But the game had given him time to reconsider what he might be getting in to.
Which was robbing her of a future she deserved.
So ultimately, he’d come to use the game as a way to buy time to fortify the barriers so strongly she’d be forced to admit she should cut her losses.
And when she’d still refused, he’d cut her losses for her, before the summer heat had waned, with an “I’m sorry, Katniss, this isn’t working for me,” followed instantly by firing her from doing the bakery’s books, which she’d been doing part-time for the low cost wage of a half-dozen cheese buns a week, and refusing to respond to her texts or voicemails.
At Thanksgiving, she’d shown up at his door, asking if they could spend the evening together, talk. Consider reconsidering.
He’d shaken his head and closed the door on her, but not before his face had presented a few moments of unmasked regret and longing.
She’d almost gone to a hardware store for an ax to chop his door off its hinges.
When she’d called her uncle Haymitch in tears from her car, still sitting in the bakery’s parking lot, he’d agreed chopping down Peeta’s door was an acceptable strategy, except there wouldn’t be a hardware store open on Thanksgiving Day.
So this Christmas season— the Christmas that could have been their second Christmas, or at least their first— just a year after she’d chosen him, the rejection had left its mark on her. She couldn’t face flying out west to spend Christmas with her sister and mother. Would not be able to muster the emotional energy necessary to pretend she was okay for a whole evening spent with her friends, despite their invites.  
No, she and Haymitch were going to spend it getting drunk on vodka, eating crock-pot roast and microwaved mashed potatoes, and watching either a marathon of The Profit, or Rocky, depending on which one of them won the coin toss.
So with twelve days to Christmas, Katniss Everdeen decided it was time to say goodbye once and for all.
Well, twelve times, for all.
Twelve ways to say she loved him.
Twelve ways to say goodbye.
Twelve ways to say both at the same time.
Twelve days, twelve gifts.
And it was going to start with a Thursday, lunch hour shopping trip.
“Kat, where you going?”
Odair was the afternoon manager for the restaurant side of the brewery operation where she was a bookeeper. He’d stepped so quickly in her way she almost couldn’t stop before walking into him.  
His hands here clasped behind his back and he was grinning. His up-to-something look.
“Lunch,” she said, guarded.
“Right. It’s treason to buy lunch from somewhere other than here. And anyway, you eat lunch from a brown bag. Every day. You’re so frugal, you probably even reuse the same bag until it’s toast. No, Katniss Everdeen looks like a woman on a mission.”
She narrowed her eyes.
“Then it would make sense to get out of my way.”
He studied her as though he could read her secrets if he looked hard enough.
“You off to see that baker guy of yours? Because I would love one of his everything bagels, and Annie likes the peanut butter chip cookies.”
Katniss swallowed and fought off a wave of pain.
“No, I’m going to the mall to do some Christmas shopping.”
“Oh, perfect then,” like magic, his hand was suddenly in front of her face, waving a hundred dollar bill, as though he already knew where she was heading and was just enjoying teasing her about the other, “I need something pretty for Annie. I was thinking a necklace.”
Katniss felt an urge to punch him, but started to step around him instead. He stepped in her way again, grin back on his face.
“Come on, help a guy out. The last time I picked out jewelry for her, it was a total flop, and you remember it.”
“Finnick, the only reason it flopped, was because you thought it’d be funny to give her a used pendant with someone else’s initials on it.”
“I wasn’t trying to be funny. That thing was an antique. And it was beautiful, and I knew the emeralds would set off her eyes. And anyway, the first initial matched.”
Katniss just shook her head; his problems were his, thankfully.
“Have to go, bye.”
He snagged her hand, yanking her momentum to a stop and then slapping the bill into her palm.
“Just in case something jumps out at you.”
“You realize how terrible it is to ask another woman to shop for your girlfriend.”
Finnick shrugged. “You’re not another woman, you’re basically family. And anyway, I already have her other gifts bought. I just want a wildcard.”
Katniss scowled.
“Fine, but I’m taking two hours for lunch, without losing the extra hour of pay, and you have to cover in case someone needs a bank run.”
Odair winked, then walked off with a, “Thanks, Katniss. You’re the second-best.”
Katniss shoved the bill into her jean’s pocket, so it could help her debit card burn a hole into the denim.

She knew what the first gift for Peeta would be, so she parked near the entrance closest to the woolen shop. Unfortunately, that entrance was the least used, and its parking more like the back forty. With Winter being stubborn about providing snow for Christmas, and the mall neglecting to plow that section, by the time she was inside, her feet were wet and freezing from slogging through patches of standing slush.  There was a small hunting shop just inside the entrance, one of her favorite stores, and the moment she saw a pair of boots she’d been drooling over for six months on sale for forty percent off, she decided that if she was going to loosen up on the financial reigns enough that week to buy herself a sense of closure about Peeta, she might as well give herself that one treat.
Fifteen minutes later, she was stalking to the sweater shop in knee-high, front lace brown leather boots with reinforced heels and toes, all weather tread, and Gortex lined.  And to make it better, her toes were swaddled in thick, high-tech, sweat-wicking winter socks.
She was even smiling by the time she got to her intended destination.
But then as soon as she was inside, her heart sank.
Peeta’s first present was a sweater she’d been eying for him for almost a month, folded on a center display table just inside the entrance. Imported from Ireland, it was a heavy, rough-finish wool sweater, that had a faded quality to its blue.  The first time she’d seen it, she’d wanted him in it. Wanted to see how it contrasted with his light hair, complimented his blue eyes, hugged his shoulders, and layered over the waist of his jeans. Back then, she had still be holding hope he’d snap out of it, that maybe Christmas morning they’d be opening presents together and she’d get to see him in it, run her hands along down his arms to sense the feel of it, rest her palms against the scratchy texture of the wool, but feel the warmth and firmness of his shoulders and chest beneath.
But now, she wouldn’t get that pleasure. He would have the sweater. Hopefully, he would wear it. But regardless, she’d never get to see it.
If things went according to plan, someone else would.
She looked through the stack, finding his size and then laying it out, unfolded, over the rest. Her fingers stroked along the back and inside of the collar, where a beautiful, muted orange line of silky fabric had been sewn in to help prevent the roughness of the wool from rubbing against the sensitive flesh of his neck. It was even almost Peeta’s favorite shade of orange.   
A  friendly young clerk came up, asking if she could be of help. Her bubbling mood was a knife-stab to Katniss’ heart, so Katniss told her she had other shopping to do and was in a hurry. The girl agreed to wrap it and have it waiting for Katniss to pay for and pick up on her way back out of the mall.
The next stop was Eddie Bauer, where she had a clerk box a wheat-colored Henley on a bed of black tissue, hand it over long enough for Katniss to finger press a dog ear into the collar where the top button would normally be, and then finish with the full-on Christmas wrapping treatment.  Her first hour was almost up.
Neiman Marcus covered two more gifts, six depending on how one counted, and fortune favored her in a special find that saved her a side trip to Hot Topic.  Plus, the clerks there were fast wrappers. She had thirty minutes left for this trip, and, for this trip, only two more items to go.
The most expensive.
A boutique, ultra-high end men’s store cost her savings account exactly eight hundred, forty-seven dollars and sixteen cents. The gift wrapping took absolutely forever. But everything about the work, from the paper, to the simple ribbon, to the ridiculously expensive, and large, carry out bag, was immaculate. It almost made her cry.
It did make her cry, actually. Because signing her name to a payment slip that size made it crystal clear just what she had committed herself to do, and that she would not be the one to see the end result.
But she made a quick stop at Zales, saw what she instantly knew was the right call. It was just shy of two hundred and fifty after tax, but today was her day to spend on others, and Annie and Finnick were good friends, so she pocketed the hundred for her piggy bank, and paid for it out of her checking.

“You’re late. Nice boots.”
“What?”
Finnick rooted around in the Zales bag she handed him for the necklace box.
“You’re late. You said two hours. It’s been a hundred and twenty-seven minutes. Did you stop at the bakery and bring us the bagels?”
“I didn’t have time.” Thankfully.
“Then I’m docking you the seven minutes,” he said without missing a beat, and when he finally got the red velvet box open, his teasing fell away into a look of confusion, and then a threat of real emotion. “Katniss, how did you…”  He shook his head and the red headed prankster looked like he might actually hug her.
“Call it fate,” she said, and then started walking back to her office.  “And if you dock me those seven minutes, our next limited run is going to be called Odair Pale, ‘cause that’ll be the vat you’d drown in.”

Katniss was out the brewery doors at 5:00pm sharp.  She managed to stop by the barber shop and the youth initiative before they closed by six, and that left only one purchase to go.
First, a stop at the bank.
Then, her final stop at the pawn shop.
The old man who owned the shop had held the item for her, and all that remained was for her to bring in the cash for it.
He was sitting at the counter like he was waiting for her— a sale like that, she was probably the one single person he was waiting for that day— and produced the item immediately, including the silky box that went with it, dull and stained by time. She carefully counted out the money, and he carefully wrote her out a receipt in his shaky handwriting.
Pawn shops didn’t gift wrap, but since it was raining, he found a used plastic bag from the back and gave her that to carry it away in.
It felt heavy, the plastic in her fingers as she walked back to her car.
Heavy like an ending.
Heavy like time moving on without her.

By seven, the drizzle was threatening to turn to sleet with the evening’s cooling temperature.  Katniss shivered a little, trying to shrink further into her jacket, and was even more glad for her new boots, because the slush in the alley behind the bakery was even worse than it had been at the mall. The windows above her, on the bakery’s second floor were lit; Peeta was at home, no surprise.  He’d be watching television, maybe. Or even finishing dinner. Within an hour, he’d start thinking about bed.
For the six or seven months he’d let her into his life, she’d learned his habits fast.  They’d never shared a bed and never spent a night together, because he wouldn’t allow it— because he was going to ‘do things right’— but they’d spent plenty of time together.  By the Summer, they’d been seeing each other every day. And she’d found so much joy in the not rushing it. It had given them time to fully appreciate the excitement of almost innocent kisses and the silly, mutual attempts to find opportunities for them to be less than strictly innocent, the almost stolen thrill of sitting just close enough knees might touch, or arms might press.  The silences and times where they were just around each other, without having to feel pressure that being out on a date, or on a walk, or going to the bookstore together was somehow really only posturing for a race they were supposed to complete by end of the day.
She knew his hours.
Knew not to text him after seven thirty.
Knew he didn’t actually like texting at all, and preferred a phone call, if a personal visit wasn’t possible.
Knew which corner of his couch he liked to lean into when watching television.  Knew where his mugs were, and his glasses. Knew which drawer had the silverware, which hall closet had the extra hand towels for the bathroom. Knew he recycled cans, but often forgot to recycle plastic. Knew which episodes of Big Bang Theory were his favorites.
Each step up the steel-grate steps up to Peeta’s second-floor entry, brought another ‘knew’ to her mind, digging the knife a little deeper.
But she kept going, careful to duck a little near the top in case he happened to be at the kitchen sink window, and then leaning the box with the wool sweater against his door, with a note taped to it.
—Don’t open until six on Christmas Eve—
Just as carefully, she crept back down and then took up a position in the blackness behind the dumpster. A pocketful of little garden stones served as her ammunition, and she chucked three at his door with perfect aim.  
From the shadows, she watched Peeta’s face appear at the window, and then a moment later, light came flooding out from his doorway.  He saw the present right away, but looked around first to see who was there.
He called her name out and for a second she thought maybe he was able to see her after all, but after a few seconds of him leaning out over the rail and looking both ways down the alley, it was clear he didn’t.  He came back to the present, gave it a look over, and then went back inside.
She didn’t know whether to feel honored or sad that after a gift appeared for him, the only person he thought to call out in question to was her.

While we’re on the subject of non-canon ships, Atsutodo isn’t canon either. Fuck’s sake, they were on screen together for 10 damn seconds. Yes, I’m aware there’s card art of Atsushi and Todomatsu having a meal together, but they’re very clearly not dating if Todomatsu is still going out with girls and holding their hands etc. Oh, speaking of Todomatsu: Your trans hc of him? Oh yeah, I’d love to hear why you hate Ichimatsu so much? Shut up, I know it’s because “hhhh he abuses kara” but that’s fucking wrong. Listen, Ichimatsu isn’t exactly my favorite either but at least I don’t make him out to be a fucking asshole to Karamatsu. All of the brothers have treated Karamatsu like shit at one point or another. They’ve thrown things at him, ditched him, called him names, ignored him, it’s a fucking trope in the anime that Karamatsu was the one to get hurt. Sure, season 2 has kinda turned that around, but the whole “Ichimatsu is bitter to Karamatsu” thing is the dynamic between them. They DO have moments where they’re not onto each other, though. See how Ichimatsu followed Karamatsu into the woods? Remember the episode where they switched clothes? They didn’t kill each other neither of those times, did they? And yes, I’m aware Ichimatsu has hurt Karamatsu at times (the bazooka, I think smacking?) but he doesn’t LITERALLY ABUSE HIM. You don’t see him kicking him around, PUNCHING HIM, HITTING HIM, EVERY SECOND OF HIS LIFE. Yes, he calls him names. Yes, he’s threatened to hurt him (“I’ll kill you, Shittymatsu.”) but he’s been stopped or HAS stopped every time. If he really was so intent on hurting Karamatsu, don’t you think he wouldn’t ignore his brothers and hurt Karamatsu anyway? But no, he didn’t, and he stopped each time he grabbed Kara. That’s because the entire “Ichimatsu despises Karamatsu” thing is a GAG in the show. It’s meant to be funny. It’s not meant for your negative ass to label it as abuse and then boohoo about it every time Ichimatsu is mentioned. That’s not a valid reason to hate a character, hell, even Karamatsu’s seiyuu said in a Doramatsu CD that Karamatsu was just comic relief. And if you’re gonna look for a reason why Ichimatsu dislikes Karamatsu, consider the hinted and well-supported reason: Ichimatsu “hates” Karamatsu because of how confident he is and how he can always be himself. Ichi is insecure. Ichi is antisocial. Kara, on the other hand, can express himself and show how “cool” he is. Consider that Ichimatsu wants to be more like him, hence why he said he’s the “number one Karamatsu boy” in that one episode.

In conclusion, I would like to say you need to shut the fuck up and chill with your fandoms and headcanons, realize headcanons aren’t canon, and also get your head out of your ass. You’ve done so many wrong things and need to stop blaming them on others. You’ve lied, insulted, and put the blame on so many of your old friends, you’ve avoided people who you deem “toxic” (simply because they have different opinions than you), you think people can’t form their own opinions, and you don’t back up your friends when they’re getting shittalked. You act like an assoholic brat and cannot, for the life of you, open up your eyes and see this. You’re lucky the dicktwats on your server are there for you, because if they weren’t, you’d be all alone, and honestly? That seems pretty good at this point. Fits you perfectly.
i know headcanons arent canon, i know ive lied (though ive really only insulted people who were dicks to my friends and maybe blu which probably not a good thing but i mean hes also insulted me so?? even i guess??) and i regret that, im more honest now and try my best to show kindness to people who have done me and my friends no wrong, ive only ever put blame on blu i literally dont blame anyone else for anything, i dont avoid people i deem “toxic” i avoid people i dont get along with because if i dont get along with them then theres no reason to talk to them im gonna let them live their lives, of course i think people can form their own opinions what on earth are you talking about???? when did i not back up a friend when they got shit talked?? i dont remember that but id like to deeply apologize if i ever did, unless youre talking about when someone in my server insults blu over ykno… him not leaving me alone and harassing me when ive done nothing but mind my own business since the incident, then while it was kind of uncomfortable for me because i felt it was the wrong thing to do i couldnt exactly muster the words to protest it. im very sorry you feel that way im always trying to improve and i like to think that im making some level of progress in being more sensitive and kind to those around me. but also dont insult my friends they didnt do shit weve been minding our own goddamn business this entire time blu is the one who started it back up again.
