Hi and welcome to my In The Sky AU sideblog! My main blog is @just-another-miserable-prick if you wanna see more of my stuff.

So onto the meat of this whole post! (It's 00:24 so sorry for errors lol)
My In The Sky ttte AU! I'll try to keep it short but I tend to go overboard with this sort of thing.
The main gist of it all is that the "engines" aka the Wingmen are a species of almost-people living in the sky above whatever land they would normally reside in in canon, (taking the roles of planes and the like, basically anything that isn't a bird) mainly relying on tourism and cargo traffic for their work.
The banner says "silly queer train people with wings" for a reason! Obviously, almost no one is straight, and they all have wings! There are many different types of wings a Wingman might have:
"Steamies":
Top two pairs of wings: (the humanised versions of) Tank engines, tram engines and narrow/miniature gauge engines
Bottom two pairs of wings: Tender engines
"Diesels" and "electrics":
Fun fact: Diesels can modify their wings! Like Diesel or Diesel 10 here.
As for how things are built up in the sky: they use bricks made of clouds! Okay everything is made of clouds-
Example: a very quick painting I made of a balcony
The clouds are compressed so they're more rigid and durable, which is then used to build stations, houses, roads, which are indeed a thing in the sky, though sometimes they're not compressed as much, these softer clouds being used for furniture and mainly things for children (or clumsy adults and Wingmen).

In general:
The Wingmen are free to go as they please in most of the modern world, except for a few developing countries (and one Central-European hellhole in particular) due to them having wings, thus being able to fly.
The railways are referred to as airlines (North-Western Airlines, Skarloey Airlines, Mid-Sodor Airlines and so on), the Wingmen commonly being called "pilots".
Since the sentient vehicles are all Wingmen, planes aren't that much of a thing, hot air balloons being the norm, at least on the Island of Sodor.
Overall this is just for fun. Hope you enjoy your stay! Also, feel free to ask your favourite Wingmen any questions!

I'm kinda glad i put it off tbh because it gave me the opportunity to draw the two in Emma and Kriss' wedding getup. I'm honestly so proud of the two of them in everything they've over come and all they've done together.

Final OC, Endre! I know he looks high but I swear he isn't-
So Endre, like Mihály, Erzsébet and Ella, worked for MÁV, absolutely hating every second of it, thus flying off often, which resulted in him and every sibling of his being locked up in an abandoned station with limited supplies, slowly losing 346 of their kind. This originally was planned to be only a few weeks, but ended up being a decade-long adventure.
It finally came to an end when Edward heard the last few singing and chatting away, having given up every bit of hope they had. This resulted in the 19 survivors being rescued and taken tó the Island of Sodor, where they all still live to this very day.
Personality:
Endre's a lot like Ella, as in sassy and chaotic. Very chaotic. He's said to be Ella's prankster sidekick, the two often pulling their pranks together. April Fool's is a nightmare with these two together. Other than sass and chaos, he's a little shit, constantly bugging anyone who dares to listen. It's not even intentional for the most part, he's just a very social guy who looks high as a kite but isn't-. He loves talking to people! That's it! He absolutely despises silence, having always been told to shut the fuck up back in his younger days. He's always making some sort of noise. You'll never find him just sitting around doing nothing, he always finds a way to keep himself busy. Even if said way to keep himself busy could hurt others or himself in one way or another. He, along with Mihály, is quite suspicious of Diesel 10.
He loves being around the Steam Team, Thomas, James and the Scottish twins in particular. Also Bill & Ben aka the Bee Bois. They're the ones who will always be down to chat :]. Not like others aren't glad to listen!

Third of 4, but actually the oldest, here's Mihály!
Again, his backstory is literally the same as Ella's, so I'm not really gonna get into that. But to very roughly summarize:
He spent most of his life working for MÁV (I decided. MÁV owns the airlines too!) with his fleet of siblings, trying to get away as often as he could, since MÁV SUCKS. To make a long story short, decades went by with the siblings trying to get as far from MÁV as they could, which resulted in all of them being locked up in an abandoned station for what was planned to be only a few weeks, but ended up being a decade.
This adventure ended up costing 346 lives and the remaining 19's will to live. Luck was fortunately on their side when Edward heard them singing and chatting away, having pretty much given up at that point. One event led to the next, and now they're all happily living on the Island of Sodor.
Personality:
Mihály is the worried dad figure of his siblings, constantly up in everyone's personal space, being the worried old man he is. His mere presence is said to be enough to calm down his siblings, Ella and Endre in particular. He didn't joke around a lot in his youth, this stoic exterior slowly crumbling over the decade he spent trapped in the abandoned station with his brothers and sisters. Nowadays he's on a middle ground when it comes to being social, more so than Ella, but less than Erzsébet.
He enjoys playing football with anyone who wants to join and despite his age, he's really good at it! He's not pushy about it either, thankfully-. He also finds joy in keeping things nice and tidy! Like, interior design and decorating and things like that! He sometimes shares his favourite black tea with Edward, talking about books they're reading and such :].
He doesn't really dislike anything, other than tight spaces, understandably. Though he's very suspicious of Diesel 10. (as he should be-)

Due to popular demand of one whole person (@land-of-diesel-10), the first of many OCs, Ella! My beloved axe-wielding shortstack, her In The Sky!design specifically :D
Since she's an OC, and I haven't talked much about her, here's a little rant about my girl:
Her backstory, summed up as best to my ability (that is to say, ya'll are in for one hell of an angsty ride):
Ella, with her fleet of siblings (364 of them to be exact, reference to the MÁV 424 class of steam engines she's based on) worked for the AU's equivalent of MÁV, high up in the sky. Nothing special there. Well, working for this shitshow of a company is a nightmare, so Ella, along with her siblings, tended to try and fly as far away as they could. Unfortunately, they aren't able to get very far.
After literal decades of the roster's shenanigans (one of which resulted in Ella getting the axe she's holding in the drawings), staff decide they have enough of their antics and chain and lock them all up in an old, abandoned station with limited supplies.
They planned to come back for them, planned being the operative words here, but times change, as do people in charge and eventually, they're all forgotten.
Days turned into weeks, months, years, the weakest of the bunch dying in what ended up being a decade-long "adventure". Out of the 365 siblings, 19 remain, Ella being one of them.
As the last 19 tried passing the time, hoping for someone to find them, or death at that point, Sir Topham Hatt, with Edward came to Hungary for some sort of meeting I haven't completely fleshed out yet. The latter ended up hearing the remaining few trying to get themselves noticed by singing songs as loud as they could manage.
Since this post is already very long, let me summarize: Edward checked the old station, just to make sure he hadn't gone completely nuts, while STH did his own thing. Finding the sight of his chained up bretheren, he stood still for a second, then ran for STH, who, along with whichever executive he was talking to, was shocked, to say the least, to find 19 workers chained up and locked away from the outside world.
One thing lead to the next, and now those 19 live their happiest lives on the Island of Sodor, free from the figurative and literal chains of their home country.
Personality:
Ella is a sassy goofball, always down to pull a prank. She's actually not very social, tending to spend time by herself if given the option, but she gladly chit-chats with her coworkers-turned-friends during the day. She's also very observant, reading anyone like an open book. This caused her to not be approached often by many, mostly those who tried to fake something about themselves to her.
She loves to read and draw, and she's not a stranger to writing either, stories in general being something that she's living for. Gardening is another hobby of hers.
As for things she dislikes, there aren't many actually. One of said few though, is tight spaces. If you read her backstory, which I hope you did if you're this deep into the post, you know why (-> why she has cieling-to-floor windows in her room).
What does she think of her new coworkers?
Thomas: He's a tiny gremlin child and she loves him like a son.
Edward: She and her siblings literally owe him their lives, so immediate respect. Ella in particular sees him as a father figure.
Henry: They're both introverts and have many things in common. From their dislike of tight spaces, to their interest in gardening. She looks up to him like that one cousin who always seems to have an answer.
Gordon: She sees him as a brother, something she'd never admit to his face. That in all senses of the word: she'd try to beat him up in a heartbeat, but will also do anything in her power to make him as happy as she can. They're both fucked up and vibe in peace.
James: She thinks he's annoying as fuck, yet also very fun to be around. His apparent obsession with his clean, pristine uniform never fooled her, thanks to her ability to read anyone like a book. Overall fine, can be a bit much at times.
Percy: "My caterpillar son :)" that's literally it. She loves him like a mother loves her son.
Toby and Henrietta: they're like grandparents to her, they're normally the ones she'll go to rant about her day, or James.
