@ajitanparmesan and I have teamed up to offer a small activity for the queue next week !

For the low price of COMPLETELY FREE, come and try your luck at grabbing a lucky bag and see who you get ! 89 packets, 10 possiblities !

Each packet contains the following :

an A5 print

one random 5 x 5 cm sticker

One of the bracelets will always be in link with whichever sticker you get, but the other is random !

Do you have any advice/tutorials on how to make healthily round characters? You do them so well!

Hi I really want to answer this with like my doodles and stuff but I’m out (might reblog the stuff later) but so want to say just use a LOT of references. I got used to not using references most of the time because Ive build a somewhat small mental library in my head but certainly its not absolute or perfect, but If I want to focus on a certain piece I really look for references! OR use the mirror.

My main advice

Build a mental library full or references; Even if the reference you compiled are not the same body type/shape, you soon learn to incorporate them in actually drawing round characters.

You can try building this mental library not just by searching online but ACTUALLY STUDYING ONESELF, by that I mean your body. Try taking videos of yourself and pause on frames that could potentially make a good dynamic reference!

Build a habit of drawing different character bodies. I cant say I’m an expert nor really follow this rule since I lack understanding, really but one of my discovered inspirations before I drew characters like these is the Dungeon Meshi Artist. They draw different shaped characters so well, take inspiration from them!

Pay attention to distribution of fat and muscle. (again I’m not an expert!!!) Pay attention to HEIGHT and WEIGHT of the character. What I usually do is that sometimes I estimate how much torso is going to on or legs so it looks proportionate

I learned that chibi is similar to what Im doing. I guess I learned chibi with round shapes aka bunch of circles and ovals, but irl those are more of chunky sausages(?)

BE CONFIDENT on your SKETCHES. I usually start small in sketching like big canvas/paper small lil “chibi” characters. Practice a pose u like then choose what you want to focus and render on

I feel like I’m saying this more for myself hut fundamentals! fundamentals, fundamentals fun d a ment a l s ! In anatomy, lighting & generally in art is key component to everything really!

Welp might reblog this with some visuals hopefully when I get home! I do think I still need more practice despite all the drawings I made, I feel like it still lacks dynamism that would be appealing at first glance.

if it contributes to anything, I think my coloring also makes the piece “look” soft.

What’s your planning process for your little comics that you make (like the falin/marcelle ones. Not quite mini comics, but also not full fledged comics that I’d be able to bind into a book) I love them very much 💕

omg, first of all, thank you so much!! and that sounds like a lot of fun!! i'd love to read your comics when you're done :D low key, i feel wildly unqualified to be consulted about comic making LOL. i kinda stumbled my way into them, but now that i'm actively going into it with comics in mind, i... kinda have a process?

i sorta just work out a scenario in my head and start scribbling. For whatever reason, the ideas and dialogue come out better when i start seeing the characters and the scene (even if it's super loose). During this phase, i make whatever notes i need, write out options for dialogue, adjust the layout (i'm not a very clean line drawer, so that makes things easy to move around; but also, the lasso tool is a dear, dear friend), and just let myself get the idea out in a really rough form. From there, i tighten things up, rearrange a bit more, edit, and then i just do a cleaner line drawing and add color :) Sorry if that was a really long response! But hope that helps! (i've included a couple of my first sketches to give you a better idea of how messy things start out)

I was playing around with expressions and OMG, I think I unlocked something???

It was mostly from yesterday’s post, I liked the way I drew Pizza Head so I decided to try drawing him again (since it’s been a while) AND GOD I LOVE THESE‼️‼️‼️ Seriously started out rough but then I just kind rolled with it! I like it! I like it a lot‼️ 😆😆

Also since I drew Brick yesterday as well, I decided to change the way I draw him, just a bit 🤏

It was worth it- 💀#I think the way I’ll draw Brick for now on is what he looks like in game but the legs look just a TINY bit like baggy pants #Like have you ever seen animated animals have those legs that look baggy and the feet underneath #I’ve seen it somewhere I know I have but I don’t have a good example…Still I tried to make it look sorta like that-#And I like it! #shep arts #content smp #csmp #arathain #mason arathain #tw eyestrain #cw gore #<- its very mild I’d say. i kinda just fucked up one of their arms... in my defense it was annoying to draw so I just didnt draw part of it #the eyestrain isnt too bad either in my opinion i just wanted to tag it just in case #honestly just tell me if this needs more tws I'm awful at knowing what I need to trigger warning and what I dont #okay uh art rambling time so i made him a bug for this one honestly just cause i thought it looked neat #this was a really fun for a drawing that took like an hour to sketch and a million years to finish #it's just an experiment in coloring a lil different and using layer styles other than multiply and add...#there are add and multiply layers in there if i remember correctly but its mainly color/linear burns and hard/soft light i think #fun fact there was supposed to be more paint but uhm I got lazy and it was already a pain trying to balance the values on this one #so yeah its just the pink splatter behind his head there. imagine that there's more pink paint there for me pretty please #I have a dozen versions of this with various overlay layers will probably end up adding those to this post in a rb or something #this post was supposed to go up earlier but yeah I was comparing overlays for like two hours...#honestly im surprised my procreate didnt crash in the middle of this since it crashes everytime I do anything with a lot of overlays #it did die immediately after I finished it though so then I had to wait several hours to just sign the damn thing :/

#moshi monsters #sweet tooth moshi monsters #experimentation i am COG AWFUL at digital dear goodness i was playing with coloring and transparency and all those fun digital doodads.#next time i probably wont have black outline or i'll do it differently. or i'll try well. not doing this. it sure was a process im #i'm an amateur everyone who masically only doodles. does the sketch look better than the final. kinda! but thats okay because im learning #and y'know what. sometimes in life you just need to draw faves no consequences #for how saturated a character they are i kinda feel like i pastelled things too muc and trapped myself with my convoluted layer setup but m #it was looking WEIRD with everything at full force #maybe the sparkles look dumb maybe the hair looks dumb and out of place and why i kinda made the lollipop a little funky too #uhh. first digital piece posted... ever?#the arm is SO fucky i am not that was. thats not what perspective is spam #yes this is what i spent a good chunk of today doing after i started working on coloring it and then. decided to go for it.#cooolrs a little inaccurate on the horns and such but man one of the biggest art things was like #i dont have to have everything at their perfect hex codes all the time. this would look way worse if i just. used their standard colors #yeah this is. instead of looking like its forward and to the right it kinda just looks like they have a Bigger hypno-lolly #especialy becase. i did not bother on the gloves and platforms i the sparkles work with 2 kinda sorta but you know #im practicing! i'm learning! i'll get better and learn how to do things more effectively!#anyway. sweet toof #though hey their arm looks even more fucked in the line art and sketch SO #note to future self have a Consistent Line Art Size so that if you feel like the line art looks like shit during coloring you dont have to #gamble on what size it was while changing it #sketch lollipop looks better i should have kept it small. but its fine. we'll get em next time boys (tm)#yes i know my gif post was so fancy and then the drawing is just THIS

Some Drarry manga redraws in the midst of my art block

Been in a bit of an art block lately and I tend to like to color/redraw manga panels when I’m unable to draw anything original. My favorite manga artist these days is Suehiro Machi, who writes the cutest stories and a lot of her characters remind me of Draco and Harry. “Dear Signal” is my favorite from her, but the characters from “Yakimochi wa Kitsuneiro” reminded me the most of Drarry so I chose a panel from that manga to color/redraw.

Second panel is from “Barefoot Angel” by Nonomiya Ito, also reminded me of Drarry in the looks of the characters. Beautiful artwork, a bit of a melancholy story. Both are such amazing artists, so if you’re looking for something to read or some art inspiration, I recommend them both!!
