can i be honest for a sec? i kind of don’t like the david tennant + catherine tate much ado.
truly just personal preference but i hate the direction of the confession scene, it takes all of the gravity and weight out of the previous scene, hero’s humiliation, claudio’s betrayal, beatrice’s anger…. i understand the intention: love is a funny, embarrassing, human thing! but i also think that the tone shift ends up being so jarring and bizarre and ultimately doesn’t work very well with the themes of the text.
anyways everyone go watch the 2019 shakespeare in the park Much Ado it’s on archive.org and it’s FANTASTIC!
#truly my favorite thing about much ado is the way it VERGES on tragedy. if one thing had been different in that story it would have all gone#so very very tragically and i love that it doesn’t! and i love the sudden genre shock in the middle of the text like fuck it’s good#claudio’s rage and beatrice’s ‘kill claudio’ are SOOOO shocking and sobering from the humor and revelry of the rest of the piece and they’re#such a stark difference to the previous scenes. they make you stop and go. oh. he ruined hero’s life on a whim#and beatrice wants him dead for that. and is benedick’s love great enough that he will kill for her?#somebody take me home i’m thinking about the way much ado was very nearly a tragedy again#lu.txt#shakespeare#much ado about nothing

Melody-wise, if you liked Take Me To Church and Work Song, you'll like these songs, they're rock with gospel and folk influences. I'm going to list the songs who have lyrics that remind me of our favorite nasty Austrian man, but I really do recommend listening to all of Hozier's discography. Long post ahead!
Angel of Small Death and the Codeine Scene - lol of course I start with this one. This one is mostly about an unhealthy dependency on a woman akin to a drug addiction, but these lines are so König. Also this song just rules.

Francesca - this song is really beautiful and longing, it's based on a story about a forbidden love where the couple was put to death. Also, "put me back in it" is most certainly referring to pussy.

Who We Are - hehe the third chapter of Shrike is titled after this song. Bit of a spoiler, but without context, which is the best kind of spoiler >:)

Unknown/Nth - this is a really bittersweet song reminiscing on a relationship that ended because he didn't truly know his partner. Again, I don't really associate the whole song with König, but these lines do remind me of Just Friends

Where you were held frozen like an angel to me
Hozier also sings the last verse of this song so beautifully, it's like he captured the sensation of being at a concert and having the artist's voice so powerful in your ear. Required listening tbh

dungeon meshi (only ever calling it that) is such a fantastic fucking all rounder, it really feels perfect, in fact it almost feels a little too perfect, it's so good and delicious and frankly uncontroversial and palatable despite the high threshold of tasteful but immense horniness, i truly feel like ryoko kui alchemized pure gold

i know i'm always bitching abt not being able to find any new good series but yesterday i stayed up reading Doukyonin no Sano-kun wa Tada no Yuunou na Tantou Henshuu desu (yes i know that's long... english title is My Housemate Sano-kun Is Just My Editor) and i was literally giggling and kicking my feet and trying not to laugh because it was 2 am and my flatmates were sleeping and i loved it so much omg. i love stupid comedy
#i know i've said it before but my manga taste is sooo different from my drama taste#i mostly watch thrillers/crime/mystery dramas#but with manga i loooove a good old slice of life. Instead of lovingly finding and putting in new presets while driving from place to place this week I ended up listening to a CD on repeat the whole time and then when I turned on the radio again my former classic rock preset was the same frequency as a stunningly good listener supported station….….Luigi wins by doing nothing
