Murders begin occuring in Ost-in-Edhil. Celebrimbor is on the case, but between him, Annatar, and a grumpy coroner, can they solve these crimes?

Turukáno looked away. Itarillë ran up to him, and her face was bright. She was holding a white flower in her hands, her eyes gleaming with warmth and happiness. Turukáno smiled and tucked a strand of her golden hair behind her ear. A camomile, he explained, mind to mind, and her features lit up. It grows in great numbers during the spring.  Itarillë beamed and ran off, and Turukáno followed her with a soft, fond gaze. He looked back to Findaráto and noticed the same tenderness on his features. “Children,” Findaráto murmured. “In Aman we thought them a blessing; a gem to carve, a fruit to reap. Now, though, I look at your daughter and feel - hope. Your father,” he said, and looked at Turukáno again, “might feel like he lost that. What is the meaning of trying to go on if you have lost the one whose eyes gleamed with fire, who looked forth through the veil of the unending snow and said, “I see hope; I see life; I see, far away, the warmth and the peace that awaits us”? And now, that hope lies buried under the ground, and all we can do is - remember.”

Here's my piece for this year's @tolkienrsb! This is my first time participating and I'm so excited to share what I've been working on with my fic author🥰️

In this piece, Celebrimbor reunites with his family in the Halls of Mandos, hoping to reconcile with them. You'll find out what happens in @goschatewabn's fic when the collection goes live!

This piece, like many of my others, is drawn in the style of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. But this time, I took inspiration from the stained glass concept art from the game and decided to imitate the effect. It took a ton of work- I did a lot of the flat colors and shading all in one day. But I'm glad I was able to challenge myself with such a complex composition!

Throwback Thursday!

The 2022 and 2023 TRSB galleries opened this week (see all the art and fics here, along with the 2024 schedule), so I'm taking the opportunity to revisit my own 2023 fic, When All Other Lights Go Out. (G: 5,300 words)

Written for @grundyscribbling to accompany a gorgeous stained glass piece, it's the story of a Fëanorian family heirloom, from the Years of the Trees to the Fourth Age. Featuring a little heartbreak, a little healing, a little happiness. Here's an excerpt:

“Now, Nelyo. Sing.” Maedhros sings his love into the gem as Fëanor hums softly in harmony beneath him: strengthening, buttressing, ensuring that the glass will not break or the song dim, even with the roughest of handling. The lamp trembles to life between Maedhros’ palms, then steadies. The colors shine clearly, with a gentleness that consoles and cheers. Maedhros is beautiful in the soft light: serious, tender, his young face sweet and open, imagining an end to another’s fears.

Aaaaaaand my second piece for TRSB 2023 !!

One of the art pieces I did for @tolkienrsb / TRSB 2023!! This one features Mairon, pre-fall, fixing a dove's wing—although his methods are unconventional at best, and already have the hintings of their future dragons at worst. The symbolism felt irresistible >:3c

My lovely author for this work is @yletylyf !! It has been such a pleasure to work with them!! THE FIC IS HERE!!

These are some designs, sketches and tests I did before I begun my piece There's An Unusual Guest In Our House for TRSB. I'll be honest, I had SO much fun with (almost) every aspect of the creation of this piece. But mainly just figuring out Thranduil gown and how it's going to be. For as much as I like how he's dressed in the movies I DO get tired of drawing the same outfits over and over again. And I honestly think his move design is missing some green, but that's a whole 'nother topic.

One thing that I'm just noticing is that the gold neckline in some of these is much lower than in the final piece, and i do like it lower... Hmm, maybe next time.

Green grass now grew where Ñolofinwë’s son and his people were buried. Arakáno had always loved the colour of green; always loved trees, gardens, and flowers. Sometimes Ñolofinwë thought himself selfish: there were many dead, that dreadful day, many who have lost their parents and friends and lovers, many who were laid in the grave together with Arakáno; yet Ñolofinwë did not remember their faces, did not grieve them, did not mourn for them. Arakáno was the only one who mattered.   Ñolofinwë hoped there were flowers growing on his son’s grave. Wished, uselessly, that Findaráto had sung of field-flowers where Ñolofinwë himself could but weep silently.
