The analysis of characters' names in Stay
First of all I want to apologize for any mistakes and potential misinterpretations. My English is poor, I'm obviously not a writer, so don't take it seriously. Just a bunch of thoughts that I finally got the courage to share. Feel free to share yours too!
Henry Letham
Some of you're probably aware that Letham is an anagram of the word 'Hamlet' which is referred to numerous times throughout the film.
I can assume that his last name also has something to do with the Latin word lētum (sometimes written lēthum) that translates to 'death', 'ruin,' destruction' in English.
Sam Foster
to foster — to look after or to take care of (a child or a young person). Throughout the movie, Sam fussed over Henry like a mother hen with one chick, so there is no denying that he was some kind of father-figure to Henry in his dreamworld. In the script, Smitty even mistook Sam for Henry's father once.

Lila Culpepper
This one might be very far-fetched, but Lila's last name reminded me of the Latin word culpa, which can be translated as 'blame', 'fault' or 'guilt'.
Athena
I'm convinced that her name refers to the Greek goddess of wisdom, war and arts/crafts. Athena got a few minutes of screen time, but she struck me as very ambitious, powerful and intelligent young woman. And she's good in different forms of art, therefore I guess Athena is a perfect name for a girlboss like her.
Tristan Rêveur
The name Tristan comes from the French word triste meaning 'sad', 'sorrowful'; 'melancholy'. Rêveur can be translated from French as 'dreamy' or 'dreamer'.
Technically Tristan Rêveur is a sad dreamer, which I find quite interesting.

27. Henry's guilty pleasure
Visiting the zoo. It reminds him a time when things were better—not so broken and confusing. He can lose himself for hours amongst the tanks in the aquarium building. The pages of his sketchbooks are filled with his trips here.

40. Henry's favorite book
As we see in the movie, La Vie de Tristan Rêveur is mentioned as being a book Henry obsesses over. Since it's not a real work and the year would have been no later than 2005, I'm going to say it might be The Secret History by Donna Tart. Here's a few quotes from it that made me think of Henry and how he might relate to them if he were the one to read them.

Additionally I think he might have also had interest in Oscar Wildes' The Picture of Dorian Gray.

42. 3 comfort items
(1). His grandfather's refillable lighter. He flicks it open and closed when he's stressed and needing something to do with his hands. It's a comforting weight in his pocket. (2). His ring. Perhaps Athena had given it to him and that was why he was so desperate to give her a ring in return? He squeezes his fist sometimes to feel the material bite into his skin as a reassurance of its continued presence. (3). A sketchbook and accompanying art supplies pouch. He always keeps them tucked into one pocket or another. The book littered with moments from his life; observations, impressions, reminders.
49. Henry's favorite toy as a child
I could imagine it being a walrus stuffed animal from the zoo. As children do, he had begged his parents for it every time he'd gone. He finally received it for his birthday and carried it around long after the fur thinned and the stuffing grew compressed and limp. His mother had given him one of her scarves to tie around its neck.
