getting a Christmas tree w Jamie!
Christmas Tree Farm|| Jamie Drysdale x reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
•pairing: Jamie Drysdale x reader
•summary: You and Jamie get a real Christmas tree and a sweet surprise from Trevor
•warnings: pregnancy, some language, trevor makes an appearance, lots of fluff
“Are you feeling OK?” Jamie asked from beside you as the two of you walked down the trail lined with an assortment of trees.
You looked up at your boyfriend with a smile, “I’m all good J.” He furrowed his brows, placing a hand on the small of your back, “You sure? Because if not we can always-.”
“Jamie,” you laughed, cutting off his rambling, “baby, I’m fine.” You grabbed his hand, giving it a gentle squeeze as he laced his fingers with yours. “Now let’s go get our tree because Trevor is waiting for us at home, and you know how he’ll be if we’re even a minute late.”
Jamie chuckled at your words, nodding in agreement as the two of you continued down the trail. Today, you and Jamie went out to a little family owned Christmas tree farm to find your Christmas tree for this year. Since you moved out to California last season to live with Jamie and his best friend Trevor in Anaheim, the three of you started the tradition of buying a real Christmas tree. Trevor had bought a fake one when he and Jamie first stared living together, but once you moved in and insisted on getting a better tree, the two hockey players decided getting a real tree was the way to go.
Last year the three of you went to the farm to find a tree, but this year, it was just you and Jamie picking out the tree together. Trevor decided to stay back and clean the apartment a little bit to prepare for the tree, and get out some of the other Christmas decorations you three have accumulated over the last few years.
You and Jamie walked hand in hand through the trail of trees, pointing out to each other the ones that caught your eye the most.
“What about this one?” You asked, pointing at the tall white spruce tree to your left. Jamie smiled softly at you before he looked at the tree. “I love that one,” his smile turned to a frown, “but I think it’s too tall, sorry sweetheart.”
You shook your head, “It’s alright. We’ll keep looking.” Jamie smiled softly at you as he squeezed your hand.
The two of you continued walking for a bit until you both stopped at the same time in front of a tree. It was the same type of tree from before, but this one was a little shorter and a bit fuller than the last one—perfect for the size of your apartment.
“Look at this one,” Jamie said as he pointed at the tree you were already eyeing, “you like it?”
“I love it.”
Jamie smiled at the look of awe on your face. He loved to see how your face lit up when you found the perfect tree. Jamie took his hand away from yours, wrapping it around your body instead. He pulled you into his side, squeezing you gently when you wrapped your arms around his torso.
“Then it’s our tree, baby.”
About twenty minutes later, you and Jamie were pulling out of the tree farm with your tree secure to the top to the car, and headed off to your apartment to start decorating with Trevor. You arrived at the apartment about fifteen later, you and Jamie both laughed as you pulled into the parking spot. Trevor was out on the rooftop, trying to put up some lights. Jamie turned the car off and got out, yelling up at his best friend.
“How’s it goin’ up there bud?”
Trevor dropped the strand of lights with a dramatic sigh, “I’m so glad you’re back dude,” he picked up the lights and threw them back down. “These piece of shit lights are impossible to hang.”
You got out of the car and stood next to your boyfriend. You couldn’t help the laugh that escaped your lips as you looked up at a distraught and slightly agitated Trevor.
“Why don’t you come down and help Jimmy with the tree, Trev? He refuses to let me help carry it.” You suggest, to which Trevor responded with a nod, “Yes ma’am,” he pointed at you sternly, “Hey, even I refuse to let you carry it.”
“Thank you.” Jamie said happily as he looked up at his best friend who was getting ready to come off the rooftop.
You rolled your eyes playfully as you shook your head slightly at the two hockey players. In a matter of seconds, Trevor was now standing out front with you and Jamie. He gave you a hug as you thanked him for helping. You went inside the apartment as Trevor and Jamie maneuvered the mid sized Christmas tree through the front door. They brought it over to the corner of the living room where the red, plaid tree skirt was already placed. Grunting slightly, the two set the tree down into the holder and let go once it was secured.
“Whew,” Trevor breathed out as he put his hands on his hips, “little heavy, but it’s a pretty tree.”
“Thanks,” you smiled, “I thought so too.” You looked over at Jamie as you added, “perfect for our apartment.”
The two boys smiled at you. It was perfect for the apartment.
Once all the ornaments and lights were out of the boxes Trevor had gotten out from the storage closet, the three of you started to decorate the tree. You and Jamie strung the white lights around the tree as Trevor sorted through the ornaments, making sure to pick out the best ones.
“Trevor,” you sighed, picking up the ornament in the box he had handed you, “I am not putting this up on the tree.” You shook your head disapprovingly at your best friend as you held up the pickle ornament shaped like a man’s most intimate feature.
Trevor chuckled as he looked at the ornament, “Awe why not? You don’t want Dickle on the tree this year?”
“Dickle?” Jamie asked with raised eyebrows as he poked his head out from the back of the tree. “Yeah,” Trevor laughed, pointing at the ornament you were still holding, “come on Y/n, don’t you think it’s a little funny?”
You cocked your head to the side and just looked at Trevor with an unamused look. He looked at you with wide eyes and a look that read “come on.” You looked down at the ornament, a smile appearing on your face and a snicker leaving your mouth as you noticed the smile painted on the surface.
“Fine, it is a little funny.” You admitted as your laughter continued, “but we’re not putting it on the tree.”
Trevor sighed, “Fine, fine.” He turned around and leaned down to pick up another ornament. He walked closer to you, holding his hand out and wiggling his fingers at Jamie as he said, “Come here Jimmy.”
Trevor held the ornament out to the two of you, a small smile on his face as he said, “How about this one?”
You gasped as you looked at the ornament Trevor was showing you. Tears pricked at your eyes as they scanned over the words and the black and white picture in the middle. Jamie’s expression matched yours as he looked at the ornament.
“Trevor,” you cooed, your bottom lip pushing out slightly, “this is adorable. How did you get this?” He shrugged, smiling sheepishly, “I have my ways.”
Jamie shook his head, the smile never leaving his face as he flung himself at Trevor, hugging his best friend tightly.
“Thank you Z.” He mumbled sincerely into his friends neck. Trevor smacked Jamie’s back lovingly as he replied, “You’re welcome, bud. I love you guys.”
“We love you too Trev.” You said wholeheartedly as you too wrapped your arms around the blonde. You and Jamie pulled away from him, Jamie taking the ornament from his best friend with a wide grin on his face. The two of you walked over to the tree, hanging up the ornament in the middle of the tree under your initials.
“Perfect.” Jamie said as he stepped back and wrapped his arms around you, pulling you against his chest. His hands traveled to your middle, resting on the small bump that was beginning to form. He stroked your swollen tummy with his thumb as the two of you stared at the ornament in awe.
Baby Drysdale 2024 was written on it in red cursive letters, while your most recent ultrasound picture of your sixteen weeks baby was in the middle of the ornament.
“I love you Jamie.” you sighed contently, as you placed your hands over his. He pressed a loving kiss to your temple before wholeheartedly replying. “I love you too, both of you.”

Since dash (tm) is unusally active at this hour (thanks little kitty paws) I wanna take a moment to share some resources for Transgender Day of Visibility (its not midnight for me yet!). I am from the US so these are all US based BUT i may make an updated list in the future if I hear fo more international resources!
The US National Center for Transgender Equality is a great place to learn about the current political structures around trans people and work to inform and advocate for trans rights!
The Trevor Project is a crisis service dedicated to all LGBTQ+ folks.
On that note, Trans Lifeline offers similar support, specifically focusing on trans issues, and has a great outreach and community-building program.
The Transgender Law Center is a great place to start looking for legal support and advocacy for any court-related issues so trans people can live freely and express themselves!
The Trans Youth Equality Foundation is more about education. It offers support for young trans people and educators of trans kids.
There is a lot more out there, I just highlighted some of my favorites. For a fuller list of US trans recourses, look here

Ok so old man N!Juste's design is pretty bad. Mostly it's just kind of boring and lazy. Being charitable, they maybe were just trying to avoid an old white-haired man with facial hair looking too much like game Dracula, so they opted for a fuller style. Unfortunately it ended up looking glued on.
Tumblr media
It's admittedly very hard to sell new old man pussy in this franchise, when we have had this man serving us cunt for hundreds of years.
In addition, they seem to have kept his shirt as the main tie to his original design, but it backfires and makes it look like he's just been wearing the same shirt for decades(Esp when game Juste's outfit was so incredibley vibrant). Even N!Juste's eyes lack the hint of white lashes from the games, which now that he is old enough for white hair to seem expected, fails to communicate he's always had white hair, which in the game made him stand out (among other Belmont's at least).
So, to fix these issues, if I were to design an old man Juste, I would personally go in one of two directions:
Option one: If had to give Juste a beard, I'd want it to distinguish him as a character, and preserve the original intent of his white hair to communicate he's got magical abilities with visual shorthand. So I would go all in and give him a fucking awesome wizard beard.
Tumblr media
I think he could slay the Myles Pinkley gender wizards look. This would be appropriately fantastic.
Unfortunately, N!Juste is not allowed to have nice things, which is why his current beard is likely only meant to communicate that he's a drunk and let himself go, similar to N!Trevor's stubble. Rocking wizard beard Juste could only exist, if you're trying to actually have a character be cool.
Option two: But admittedly, I personally wouldn't have given Juste a beard at all. I don't really think it would bring anything to his design, and imo I think some people give a character facial hair just to convey mature male-ness, and not much else. My personal idea for what an older Juste would look like, is probably something similar to Pope Sage (or his twin brother Altar Hakurei), from Lost Canvas.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"So there's this senior citizen..."
Admittedly, it's hard to tell exactly how old Sage is meant to look, when he's 270 and using magic to extend his lifespan. But he's a good example of an aging white-haired prettyboy type, in a shounen known for its beautiful young men. He is also a mentor character, who has specifically personally raised his hot-headed and brash student, and taught him everything he knows - which is mostly wicked goth death powers.
Tumblr media
Cool old man and his even cooler son
Obviously, Sage is an unrelated character from his own property. But I feel like he's the best illustration of the sort of design archetype an older Juste could have been in. Maybe if nfcv had a better understanding of other Japanese media, and shounen anime in particular, they might have been able to figure out how to translate a character like Juste to animation better.

I’ just finished CBS Ghosts, and I wanted to give my two cents on the CBS vs BBC ghosts
CBS
I feel like it explores the rules of ghosts a lot more. It introduced the concept of possession and how things like burning sage have no effect on ghosts (even if I would have found it really funny if Hetty or Trevor (certified evil businessmen) found the sage disgusting). I feel like the longer seasons shorter episodes works better to explore these little plots for an episode.
It also feels like they’re making more progress on the house and that there’s more triumph to even just getting the chance to host stuff. And it feels more realistic that even with the ghosts, they’d hire someone to help run an entire b&b. While I don’t really know how their incomes are covering so many repairs, I like seeing that they’re doing well. You generally get to see a lot more of Sam and Jay’s lives in it too. I don’t think they ever even said what Alison was doing before she started dedicating her time to the house.
The more present possibility of the house ghosts getting sucked off is introduced really early, and I find that super interesting. The ghosts have pretty clear things that they feel like if they can just fix that then they’ll be gone, so it feels like the ghosts really have a chance of leaving at anytime.
Because of Sam being more extroverted and her feeling like an even greater focus than Alison in BBC, we get to see how she interacts with ghosts in different places. The world feels fuller than BBC. This also means we get to see a wider variety of ghost powers, so it’s fun to see all the creative powers they came up with
Something that I don’t really like is how because of its comedy status, it feels afraid to go dark and sad. Any time they explore ideas like Hetty desperate for more life while possessing Jay or Trevor online dating Bela, it might be that they tell more than they show or maybe its the score but I’m really not sure what makes it not hit as hard as the BBC.
Like seemingly all the big American comedies, it takes a little while to get a handle on its sense of humor. I think a lot of the earlier episodes will leave it feeling dated pretty fast, but it grows out of that more and more as time goes on. There’s even some moments that made me laugh plenty harder than the BBC ever did (I am American, and I do indeed laugh at show with ‘funnier to Americans’ slapped on the label)
I’ve already seen this talked about a lot, but I very much don’t like the plague ghosts’ ugly=bad person message even if I did really like Nancy.
I haven’t gotten how their time as ghosts have affected them. I haven’t gotten Fanny’s passion for math, Robin’s love for the moon, or the fact that Mary was starting to learn how to read. I guess it makes sense because neither of these characters really share their struggles a lot, but I want living for hundreds of years to have noticeable effects on them instead of it just them having a mix of their original time and the modern one and calling it a day. I didn’t like the way this plot was done at all, but it was interesting to see Sass become annoyed by Pete’s unwavering love of life
Sure, we get Thorfinn’s LANDSHIP and Hetty’s encouraging Sam to try some cocaine, but they feel like they aren’t very stuck in their own time. They change and adapt to modern day surprisingly easily, even if sometimes the stuff they get interested in doesn’t really make sense to me. (This is fully stolen from another post) but Thorfinn and Sassapis’ dating show vs Fanny’s Murder She Wrote or Mary’s Loose Women
We get some of the ghosts being around for younger ones’ lives, and I love it immensely. Thorfinn being Hetty’s imaginary friend and singing her to sleep is one of my favorite parts of the show. For BBC, we kinda only see the ghosts gathering around for the possibility of a new ghost
I loved seeing how Pete’s direction brought some much needed stability to the other ghosts. Without him, they’re all too self-serving, and they need him to tell them what they’re supposed to act like. He is the leader of a bunch of children!!
The fact that they have hell is so funny to me. They get hell privileges. And it’s Hetty that gave it to them by sending her shitty husband straight down, and I’m starting to like Hetty more by the day
There’s something about the little plots of the episodes that can feel kinda uncreative compared to BBC. Of course I think that it can go into really interesting territory, specifically in exploring ghosts rules, but the way things play out can feel predictable at times. Like, in the BBC, the plot of ‘a ghost wanted to give a mysterious letter to someone he was obviously in love with but backed out, and oh no! He‘ll never get to share what was in the letter with the person because they’re both dead!’ Isn’t the most creative plot in the world, but bring in the fact that he hid it in a bomb in the backyard, and it’s a lot less clear how that’s going to play out.
I think my feeling that the episodes were a little more predictable helped contribute to my not being as invested. BBC’s fun, creative plots make them feel like people whereas CBS’s plots make them feel like good sitcom characters. So when I do get interesting details that flesh them out, it’s harder to notice because I already don’t care about their character as much
CBS leaned into the shipping angle hard, and it can be really fun. Just to get it out of the way, some of it feels like it includes canned sitcom plots like Sass being scared that the Car Ghost is cheating or Pete/Alberta and Isaac/Nigel having the exact same plot for a good second. But Thor/Flower is so adorable and I would do unimaginable things for them and every single scene with Hetty/Trevor is pure comedy gold to me like oh my god (also I do want them to fuck, I think they deserve it)
BBC
The spectrum of emotion it gets is a lot better. I personally like the humor a lot more, but I think the more noticeable bit is how devastatingly beautiful some storylines are. From Thomas’ or Humphrey’s death to Cap’s love to Fanny’s life, it’s all done so well. These stories are told in fascinating ways that have loads of hilarious bits to lighten them up, but by the end of it, their lives were perfectly written tragedies.
Alison and Mike feel more real. Alison realistically gets frustrated with the ghosts, but you can see how they’re starting to grow as people and how they rub off on her. It’s really interesting to see how the ghosts have affected their lives with Alison not really finding work outside of the house and Mike desperately trying to connect to this part of Alison’s life.
While they definitely haven’t explored it a lot, I think I like how they deal with Gone Gone more than how CBS does sucking off. It feels more true to the nature of death in real life. No one got to say what they needed to say to Mary like Sam did with her mom, she just went, and it wasn’t right after she had the big revelatory fight with Alison. Sure, there were signs pointing to Mary being finally satisfied in death, but you’re not going to jump right to that conclusion. It was unexpected and there wasn’t simple closure, and I love that.
Having longer episodes lets every ghost get their turn. For every episode there’s like four different plots, so it never feels like any ghosts just spectates for an episode like I sometimes feel the CBS does. You never have to wonder what everyone was doing and thinking while the main plot’s going on
I love Pat’s role in the group and how the dynamic is a little different from CBS.’ They still have his clubs because it’s Pat’s whole reason for not getting sucked off that he will cling to routine no matter what, even if their whole way of life now includes much easier access to the internet’s worth of entertainment. Also, while Pete is the nice, normal one of the group, Pat is normal enough compared to everyone else to be passed off as that, but he also asked Alison to kill his wife and the whole ‘dip it again’ bit
There’s a near perpetual silliness about the show that makes it so fun to watch. Everything in this show from the plots to character’s movements to their decisions down to the facial expressions are just silly and goofy at the exact right times, and they know when to get serious too. The goofiness is one of the main reasons I love the show so much.
I’m sure you can tell I’m definitely biased toward BBC, but I will say that the bit with Elias going down on them had me laughing harder than BBC ever did

Who is your dream cast?
Personally Shaelah Mcgilton is my perfect Emory Scott.
Tumblr media
Will Grayson always looked like Chase Mattson in my head.
Tumblr media
Matthew Daddario is what I imagine Damon too like.
Tumblr media
Ricka meanwhile really gives me Gigi Hadid vibes.
Tumblr media
Jacob Elorid would make a great Michael Christ he certainly has the height.
Tumblr media
Candice Swanepoel is what I see Winter as.
Tumblr media
Hideo Muraoka would make a perfect Kai Mori.
Tumblr media
Adriana Lima is my Banks.
Tumblr media
Megan Fox is so Alex.
Tumblr media
And Dylan Sprouse in After is so Trevor.
Tumblr media
But what Dou think? 😊
I like all your picks! That's a great cast. I really love your Emory. She's sooo cute.
(poor dylan sprouse but it works)
Let's talk about faces!
My brain does one of two things when reading. It either completely ignores what is written on the page and picks a face and says "That's them" and I have no choice but to think of them that way the entire time.
Or it merges multiple faces together until I end up with split features/faces that it morphs between scenes, which means I'm never able to settle on a face.
Both have happened with Devil's Night characters. Sometimes I have a face in mind, and sometimes it's just
~Vibes~
PD didn't give face claims because they wanted the readers to picture the characters themselves. But also, as a writer, sometimes it's just hard to give your characters faces. No one fits perfectly what you have in your head, but they're your babies so it has to be perfect.
Anyway, here's what I have. For the most part, I don't have specific names/faces.
Michael and Rika:
I also pictured Jacob Elorid as Michael. It probably is the height and the hair. Plus, doesn't he usually play territorial jerks?
Tumblr media
I don't know how to explain that in my head, Rika is pretty but...like an average pretty. Not like drop dead, sultry, gorgeous. But like. Wealthy pretty. But a wealthy pretty that tries to pretend she's neither pretty nor privileged, so she plays it down. At least until she gets with Michael and then she starts leaning into it more.
I usually picture a smaller, more delicate face, soft blond hair. Later, I feel like she'd wear red lipstick because it's Michael's favorite color and a color of power. Plus, she's a blue-eyed blond. What else is she gonna wear?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kai and Banks:
I don't have a face for Kai. I know he has strong Japanese features, but his mom is Italian and I just feel that there would be some of that in his face as well. I can't find it, so maybe I made it up, but I could have sworn he had his mom's smile....
Hideo Muraoka works really well though and I've seen him used a lot. He works a lot better than some of the others I've seen, which give Kai a narrower face. Kai does not have a narrow face in my head.
For me, Banks does though. She also has fuller lips and Sharp eyes (green because at least one love interest has to have green eyes. it's law). I liked the hat picture cause it gave me tomboyish vibes compared to the other two which are...woah.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But once Banks dresses up, she is Woah. so.
Damon and Winter:
And for Damon...I hate to say it, but a tik-tokker (?? how are we spelling that?) that gives me vibes is Eduard Martirosyan. It's probably just they're both Russian, but I can't help but think if his hair and eyes were darker, I'd get stronger Damon vibes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for Winter, I'm not sure how similar to Rika she needs to look, or if it was just the blond hair and blue eyes that everyone was talking about. How close do they have to be to look like sisters?
Anyway, Scarlett Leithold is as close as I've gotten to how I picture Winter, but only specifically this look:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everything should be paler, and more washed out than Rika. Those two girls don't look anything alike to me but then who cares. They're fictional.
Will and Emory:
Do I think Trevor Wagner looks like how I pictured Will?
NOoooo.
Do I get the strongest Will vibes whenever I see his tik-toks.
Ab-so-lutely.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It could just be his personality also feels like Will to me??? So whenever I find someone else that gives me Will-vibes, all it takes is a scrolling pass a Trevor and it's erased.
(There was one tik-tok where I thought he was driving a raptor and I was like "nooooo it couldn't be that similar." but it's not. It's a dodge. Yeah, I did the research. I had to know.)
I, for one, do imagine Emory having long wavy/slightly curly hair similar to the texture on the left. And I imagine her having fuller cheeks, rather than sharp angles...or the most part, any of the pinterest girls seem okay. As for this girl, she's close but for me her nose is smaller than how I imagined emory. but the basic structure is there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Can I say, I really appreciate Will going out of his way to describe this girl any chance he can? I have such a clear vision of her in my head, but I can't find a face to match because, like Will, I now see her as perfect. And she doesn't even exits!
Alex
I thought I had a good handle on Alex until Emory tossed out that she looked like a character from whoville in NF and I was like the Dr. Suess characters???????
It just...really threw me off. But I think what she meant was the Alex's nose is small and kind of turned up at the end?
Whatever. I picture her mostly just chilling in Will's passenger seat before NF. The right and middle is Victoria Bronova and from what I've seen, she works for the most part. I mean, no one's perfect.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
See what I mean about random features just filtering through while I'm reading? Nothing is consistent. It's rarely a constant "this is who I picture when I read" but more of a "when I see their face at this angle, I think of this other character."
It's just vibes.
Feel free to wildly disagree and offer up your own. I'm not tied to any of these and will happily drop one in favor of something that matches better to what I see in my head.
Thank you!
*if you know any of the names of the faces here that I didn't, please feel free to let me know.*

The Culkin Brothers: Macaulay Culkin became a sensation in the 1990's for his portrayal of Kevin McCallister in the Home Alone movies. His brothers Kieran and Rory are also actors, and they feature in some of my favourite productions from that era.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Home Alone, directed by Chris Columbus, 1990
A movie I love to watch every Christmas vacation and never get tired of. With Macaulay Culkin as the lead, but also Kieran Culkin as Kevin's bed-wetting cousin Fuller. Also starring beloved Canadian comedians Catherine O'Hara and the late John Candy. Wonderful soundtrack by John Williams.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Mighty, directed by Peter Chelsom, 1998 Based on the novel Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick, this underrated gem is funny, uplifting and heart-breaking all at once. Kieran Culkin plays a gifted teenage boy living with Morquio syndrome. He befriends a strong yet learning disabled boy who becomes his legs while he becomes his brain. Another movie I love to watch around Christmas since an important part of the story is set at that time of year. Hilarious performance by Gillian Anderson as "the Queen of Saxony". Set in Cincinnati but filmed in Toronto. Amazing Celtic-tinged score by Trevor Jones.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Signs, directed by M. Night Shyamalan, 2002 I include this film even though it was released in 2002. It is close enough to the 90's and the story was conceived in a pre-9/11 context. The technologies used by the characters are still those of the 90's (VHS tapes, cathodic televisions, baby monitors) and the fashion as well (Rory Culkin's character rocks the denim overalls and plaid shirts like a pro). This movie is dear to me because of its raw depiction of a man's faith struggle and its effects on his family. But it also offers a wonderful message about God's sovereignty.

44 for trevia
44. Do they cuddle often? Why or why not?
I think they cuddle a normal amount like they can spend weeks apart depending on how busy their jobs get so when they are together they end up touching each other in some way whatever they're doing, not necessarily cuddling but they are holding hands or draped over each other or sitting so close they might as well be cuddling.

@honeykeats asked ❝ you wanna talk to me before you leave next time instead of leaving a fucking note? ❞
Tumblr media
Trevor paused as he stood there, looking very much guilty. He just hadn’t been expecting for the other to wake up. Much less come down and confront of him about his habit of disappearing. But that was something that he was pretty comfortable doing. He literally lived in a van and traveled around the United States for fun. Staying in one place was a little freaky and he did feel a bit bad about that. “I hate saying goodbye, and I feel like notes can be treasured so much longer than me… Fumbling my way through an apology for leaving.”

Sound of Freedom 2023 United States of America Action film réalisé Javier Navarrete et joué par Jim Caviezel, Mira Sorvino. Après avoir sauvé un jeune garçon d'impitoyables trafiquants d'enfants, un agent fédéral apprend que la sœur du garçon est toujours captive et décide de la sauver aussi.
Sound of Freedom - Le film, le film sera là !
Comment on Readings: Introduction from 'Investigative Aesthetics' by Fuller and Weizman (2021) and Paolo Cirio's essay on “Evidentiary Realism”
Proofs of suffering and destruction are modes of “erasure” and of aesthetic registration at the same time. Traces can be read and interpreted both with the aim of perpetrating further violence, or for contrasting violence. Besides, visual content sometimes cannot be accessed easily, or the images are blurred. However, the ones who want to perpetrate further violence often have access to higher quality means, such as satellites, drones cameras and planes, or the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for better interpretations. These people try to impose on those directly experiencing violence a unique narrative presented as true information. Investigative aesthetics questions mainstream institutions of authority, by proposing an alternative set of practices.
Tumblr media
Before, images produced with Artificial Intelligence were not exactly realistic. For instance, they managed to depict faces very well, but not fingers. Then, AI trained on dataset based on the users' posts, and learned better to recognize and reproduce humans' traits. The latest images produced with AI – as the one showed above – are becoming more and more realistic, to the point that the viewer is unable to determine whether they are real pictures or not. These are "synthetic images", meaning that they have no ontological, physical, and material existence. The implications of synthetic images are that they can be used to create narratives that are not only misleading, but that do not exist at all. For instance, it is sufficient to think of creating a picture of a protest, which could start a movement, or an image presented as evidence to support a conspiracy theory, even the image of a fake killing, which could potentially trigger the start of a war between countries.
This raises the question of what constitutes evidence in the age of AI. Today, even when real digital evidence of the killing of people is present, the lines between the factual and the fictional are still deemed to be blurred by someone who claims that it never happened. In the "post-truth" period, reality is contested by authoritarian voices, which allays the public's worry about reality's reemergence. However, as Susan Sontag puts it :"Real wars are not metaphors" (Sontag), nor they are made by the media, but they are made of real bodies and blood. Nevertheless, as Trevor Paglen states, “wars are being waged through systems that are simply postvisual [...], systems whose imaging capacities exceed those of human eyes to the point of being invisible to them". Visual culture nowadays is mainly made of non-visuals and non-humans. There is someone that is post-human involved in the making of war that participates and consumes visual culture. While machines and metadata see everything, through body cameras, surveillance cameras etc., we as human cannot see what machines see. More importantly, human eyes cannot read and watch news 24h/24 as machines. There was an expansion of ways of seeing that paradoxically made us often unable to see. Nowadays, we are used to see human rights' violations on the screens all the time; thus, we become in a way anesthetized to social injustices, leading some to think that an event or crime did not really happen. Our reality of the 21st century is made also of non-human systems and the first step is realizing that there is something hidden to us, out of sight.
Artist and activist Paolo Cirio, in his essay "Evidentiary Realism" proposes a new approach to evidence. Cirio is committed politically to different issues, and his art is a combination of different disciplines. In the age of digital virtual media, some people argue that reality does not count; it seems like it is all about fiction. Karl Rove – an American Republican consultant who was Senior Advisor and Deputy Chief of Staff during Bush administration – once said "We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality". However, it is not as simple as that.
Tumblr media
Historical realism in art traces back to France in the aftermath of the 19th century revolutions, when artists refused Romanticism for realist portrays of political turmoil and famine. Indeed, this pattern of aesthetics alternated the priority of the social over the personal, which came back during the 1930s and the post-war period. There were two tendencies in the West: the first is "Art for Art's sake" – realist art finding inspiration and attempting to represent reality as it is – thus, prioritizing the subjective over the political. Secondly, realism politically engaged, becoming a way to denounce social and political injustices, prioritizing the political over the personal. With the beginning of the 21st century, the social realm and its representations were once again brought to the center of social inquiry. Realism depicts the social oppression, showing the situations in a true and accurate way. In this sense, 9/11 attacks were an awakening call, and it is in their aftermath that can be identified the return to reality in art.
Today, realism in art is enhanced by advancing technology, enabling artists to capture and access reality as never before. Enhanced realism can be conceptualized as "forensic information". Realism is out of sight in the sense that the characteristics of today's social context are indecipherable at first, but we see the dreadful consequences. Cirio argues that realism should return through the intersection of documentary, forensic and investigative practices used by contemporary realist artists to bring to surface the hidden unseeable by society. Jack Burnham and Hans Haacke argued that "If you make protest paintings you are likely to stay below the sophistication of the apparatus.” Old-school artists cannot exist anymore because we can no longer understand reality merely through paintings. Cirio calls for the need of interdisciplinarity, such as by creating a team as in forensic architecture. Forensics architecture includes also open source investigations, digital modelling and crowdsourced investigations. Forensic architecture employs technology, while also questioning the problems and politics of the technology used. Forensic architecture combines elements that were already in the public domain which could have been seen by us, but perhaps we failed to see the relationship among them. Artists committed to realism should team up with architecture to try to understand the complexity of reality. Evidentiary Realism examines the tools, the economic, political, legal, cultural structures interconnected used to bring reality in its complexity to surface. The urge to piece together pieces of our complicated world is what drives evidentiary realist artists to present evidence. And in doing so, it is work consistent with the original history of realism and documentary approaches.
Artists investigate and represent reality through a wide range of materials and techniques; for example, through crowdsourcing evidence which expands the venue for the legitimization of evidence. But, is this art or evidence? Some lawyers and arts critics – feeling threatened by it – argue that it is "art, not evidence", while other art reviews consider it "evidence, not art". Ultimately, it is both. The two work of art and work of investigation do not have to be seen as opposites. Aesthetics and investigation can work together to take reciprocally potential out of each other. Although the fields of aesthetics and imagination are seen to be distant and at odds with the world of investigation, they are in reality fundamental to it today. It is no longer possible to just investigate facts in the proper sense as before. There is the need of imaginaries that can function both within and outside of disciplinary frameworks.
The outcome of investigatory art is a clear message. This kind of investigations are art used to inspire other institutions, and raise awareness on particular issues, which is needed in realism. Fuller and Weizman support the aesthetic practice of investigations combining different elements to form collective ones, called "investigative commons" based on various perspectives, as opposed to the expert-mode knowledge in which everyone relies just on the words of an individual, in which allegedly lies knowledge.

D = Dirty Secret (Pretty self-explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
Wren gets absolutely turned on when she watches Jacob get sweaty and dirty doing manual labor, like she gets hot and bothered enough that she will physically drag him somewhere secluded. Jacob thinks it's fuckin funny once he realizes what's going on and will find more excuses to ignore paperwork in favor of idk digging a trench or building a bench lol
Z = Zzz (How quickly they fall asleep afterward)
Gonna roast Trevor bc he's absolutely a 60 second man and will fall asleep minutes after finishing. Like it was an embarrassing problem for him with his previous 2 partners but Nia was understanding and they figured out how to get both of them finished
