*jerma voice* i think so too... My hair's thick and (now) wavy and so while his isnt wavy i always find myself defaulting to Thick....
He's always had half chopped pieces jutting out but the style i drew em in just added to it looking thicker.... His hair's more fine and wispy especially when he's Old Old! I like the way it looks more recently even if it is 500x more difficult to color LOL

favorite thing about them —there's a lot to love abt kakashi if i'm gonna be honest, but the biggest thing for me is that he DOES care for these kids immensely. he drops by naruto's apartment to give him vegetables, he constantly puts himself in danger to protect the kids, on a couple of occasions he straight up ignores + disrespects the hokage just to listen to naruto ramble about ramen. similarly with yamato—even when sai joins the team, kakashi does make a point of telling sai he's a member of the team, not just Yamato's responsibility, but Kakashi's too...like. he's not great with kids at all. but my god does he try!
least favorite thing about them — 100% the convo with sasuke before sasuke booked it. he fucked that up so royally that i just know the rest of his life he's going to be laying awake in his bed thinking "why did i say that? why did i say any of that? why was my first instinct in that situation to belittle sasuke? Who let me be in charge of children. why did i let myself be put in charge of children." like. it makes sense for him, he really has no children skills, but also im not going to lie thinking about that scene makes me insane. i want to attack kakashi. good god dude, you could've called gai in!! or tenzō!!! why did you say there was nobody in your life who mattered to you. why did you say that to this kid, who like it or not, looks up to you both as a teacher and as the only person left with any attatchment to the uchiha clan + the sharingan, who isn't his murderous brother. i genuinely have to think that he forgot that kids want to be understood, and was just straight up dealing with sasuke as he might a rogue soldier.
i'm so. ugh. kakashi...
favorite line

its really good for not only understanding kakashi but also the central theme of naruto, but mostly i picked it as my favorite because i remind kate of this when we're playing fortnite + laugh like a hyena afterward.
brOTP —okay so. Gai is canonically Kakashi's best friend and i love that so much and respect that and as far as Kakashi is concerned, that is the absolute brotp. If you like Kakashi I think you have to respect this immensely. Gai is without a doubt the most important relationship that Kakashi has!!! they better each other in all ways and they have an undying and complicated friendship built up over decades with trust and dedication.
but also.
this is transparently a Yamato-centric blog, and Kakashi is 100% Yamato's favorite person, so Yamato and Kakashi's friendship is the most important to me personally, even if Yamato is not Kakashi's best friend.
OTP —i'm not a huge ship person, but if i had to pick one it would be kakayamagai

random headcanon
— i think his grandmother on sakumo's side was an inuzuka. because of this, after sakumo died, a handful of the inuzuka clan were very adamant that kakashi, by right, should belong to the inuzuka clan as next of kin.
kakashi, five years old and freshly traumatized, now the only surviving member of the hatake clan AND incredibly wary of bonds and friendships because he's seen whats happened to sakumo, contested this. they actually got in a legal dispute in front of the hokage. fucking five year old kakashi dully but determinedly saying he's Not going to be an inuzuka, and the inuzuka clan (represented by a headstrong teenage tsume) going "what's is wrong with this ungrateful kid! not every orphan gets this kind of opportunity!"
eventually hiruzen sided with kakashi, because hiruzen is morally bankrupt and doesn't care if children raise themselves.
once kakashi becomes the 6th hokage, he's subject to occasional visits from tsume where she comes to bully him about visiting the inuzuka compound (under threat of inuzuka clan rebellion without. Peace Talks. over dumplings that kiba's been trying to perfect), and telling him how nice it is to have an inuzuka beneath the hat, and he's just like. ma'am...please...have mercy...
unpopular opinion
— i think he would look soooo bad in a suit. he would not look suave or sexy. he could make like the fanciest most well made three piece suit look like a tracksuit he pulled out of the laundry before it went thru the wash. and like. he would! he would delight in that! if you forced this man into a suit, he would purchase one at least two sizes too large for him and hed slump around in it.
he has the hair of a half dried paintbrush, the posture of a puppet with its strings cut, and the general vibe of a dog with a tail between its legs.
not to say that can't be attractive to u if ur into that. its just. u know. he's not going to be james bond if you put him in a suit, u feel me?
he's going to look like a temp who is going to get let go from his accounting firm for making all the cups of coffee from the same keurig pod not realizing that after the first one its just vaguely coffee flavored water, and also for not knowing how to save a file. He probably would know how to save a file but just pretended he didn't to get on somebody's nerves

Ive had spinach in my smoothies and the fruit completely overpowers it. I dont find spinach to be particularly strong in flavor when raw, though. Only way to find out is try it ig ?
hmm i’ve never actually eaten spinach raw which probably isn’t helping. i might give it a go next week but i don’t want to waste a bunch of ingredients if it turns out i hate it. will consider.

looking forward to ur print !! i like screenprint but i think lino will always be one of my faves. it can be a bit stressful and i hate hate hate when i mess up a line and carve into a spot i wasnt supposed to, but i love the hands on feel and messiness of it. idk how to describe,, like obv screenprint is also hands on but it doesnt have the same physicality. i also rlly rlly love monotypes for similar reasons, altho its a bitch to wash off the oil inks afterwards ^_^'
YES LITERALLY this is my exact issue its all fun and games until you carve a line wrong like oh hmm i hate this actually. But it IS so fun the process is so fun. Screenprinting is also about the process (of course, as you're just being a Human Printer) but it isnt the same! I love carving for the exact same reasons that i hate it...its unpredictable....
ough monotypes...my fave way way to make em is actually with a screen, washable markers, and transparency base + i reaaaally wanna do that again bc it was so fun....^_^

For the tenzo haircut picture, i was wondering what your reasoning was for having his hair be longer in the mirror reflection? i can probably guess but i love hearing your thoughts on this stuff ^-^ <3
ah, hello! i wasnt actually sure that anyone would notice that detail because it was so small.
essentially, like the black cloud of scribbles around him, the mirror and its reflection are not a true visual depiction of tenzō's world experience, he isn't seeing hair which is longer than it is, nor is he seeing black scribbles
but he is feeling both, the panicked restless energy in the scribbles, as well as the fear that he still resembles the being he was when his hair was that long, and the fear of getting too close to that identity again, or seeing it in himself when he looks into the mirror
its all just kind of, visual metaphor for his mental state! this is actually how i use the sprouting flowers + leaves too—while i draw him sprouting plants and flowers often, i think it would be rare that, if i were writing say a prose fic about tenzō, that i'd have him bursting out in foliage, because in writing i have other and quicker, more elegant ways to depict a characters internal experiences
#yamswers#towardbetterthings#some very good artists can rely only on character expressions but i dont like to do that for yamato because i also like#feel like hes wearing a mask all the time#so he will be showing a mask often of what he thinks an appropriate reaction or feeling is#and then the flowers will depict something more visceral#that way we get the two layers of feelings#like in the haircut picture his expression is perhaps tired and blank and neutral#but the scribbles are FRANTIC in a way tenzō would have trouble expressing without feeling very very guilty i think

PLEASE talk about kakashi dog nose, i live for this stuff
SDGKJHSDGJKSHGD okay...okay i got a kakashi dog nose idea for you... u know how on a dogs nose they have those slits at the sides? this allows for air to have a constant flow in and out of the nose, giving the sniffer an unbroken scent sensory imput.
if a regular human were trying to sniff something, we'd have to kinda huff the scent in, and then huff air out in order to pull in a new waft of air—given that kakashi's face is covered including his nose, i feel we're given some freedom to play in...here, i'll give u a drawing of a hypothetical nose for a shinobi (inuzuka or hatake) which could look like this
