Oh good lord.

The climax of the very first book, the thing that drove Xi Ping through the second arc and forced him to open his eyes, was the desire to throw off someone that had been possessing him. He was possessed by the spiritual bones of the Way of Death via Liang Chen, and he just about blew himself up in order to escape them.

And now fourteen years later, here he is realizing that, no he never really did escape. He shook off Liang Chen, but opening his eyes in the process set him down the path to establishing his foundation, and establishing his foundation just meant another type of possession by those same spiritual bones.

And all his progress in cultivation, everything he worked so hard to endure for—it's all only served to throw him more and more into the possession of those goddamn fucking bones.

Palamades' ghost creating a "bubble" within the afterlife that allows him to indefinitely hang out in a facsimile of his final memory is extremely Homestuck and I do think the scene where the bubble is introduced is the most Homestuck scene in all of TLT but not just because of the bubble mechanic, it's the expository conversation between Harrow and Palamades. Palamades first rambles about romance novels and then veers into a wild emotional outburst (from Harrow's perspective) and THEN he's like "oh yeah the bubble? Check this out" and talks about that for a while, Harrow is like "sick," then Palamades swings over into asking Harrow a bunch of questions because he's out of the loop... 90% of Homestuck is delivered through conversations that are structured like this. TLT doesn't feel like Homestuck to me most of the time but in this moment it sure did

#honestly at the end of the day tlt being influenced by homestuck is nothing more than a fun tidbit #tlt is very much its own thing despite that obvious influence. so #I probably won't be thinking about their similarities after this. I mean, the master sword does slowly heal just by sitting in front of the deku tree for a few years, and I don't think basking in Zelda's light power is the only way to heal it.

In the Sage of Spirit Link AU, Link actually finds the master sword of that time (as it was made long before Hyrule was even a kingdom) and he puts the aged master sword in a place with natural light magic, and in the Sage of Time Link AU, he locks himself in with it. While neither of these solutions would have quite the power of being injected with dragon light power for thousands of years, I feel like it would work out lol.

do u have any locked tomb opinions to share? I saw u like Ianthe, idk if that's controversial or not? I've seen about a 50/50 split of my limited time in the fandom of people saying they love her/hate her

to be completely honest the locked tomb is more like a fandom in law to me lol as in: i tried getting into the series a few years back, was too confused and gave up but then made a friend who is a big fan and so i decided to give it a second chance and read together with her and i'm glad i did bc i did end up liking it very much but. it was a journey lol. i'm the kind of reader who prefers to have a working understanding of wtf is going on at all times and the locked tomb doesn't reward that expectation and accepting that it's a feature and not a bug took me some time. i liked book one much more when i re-read it. book two is my least favorite bc i was deeply bored by harrow's pov (it does have lots of ianthe tho and the gideon pov part is fantastic). book three is unquestionably my favorite which is surprising bc it doesn't have as much ianthe but ig i liked it the most bc i finally understood wtf is going on, in general terms at least. so the series grew on me and i'm excited for the last book but i'm not such a big fan as to dive into the tags and see what people are talking about, not to mention have hot takes or meta of my own. i mostly just like and reblog whatever my mutuals put on my dash🤷‍♀️

that's why i live in blissful ignorance of tasteless people who don't like ianthe. but even if i were familiar with the Discourse i wouldn't be out here defending her actions or whatever from the haters bc fortunately i only care about how cool she is. especially the way she talks! i feel like women characters rarely get to construct a distinct persona through their dialogue or express themselves through peculiar speech patterns, memorable one-liners, saucy quips etc. as i mentioned in my other posts dialogue is perhaps the most important part of character work for me, if not the most important part of books as a whole. i want to know how characters wield words! i need the scintillating repartee! so gideon vs ianthe verbal showdown in book two is Peak Literature for me lol. i have a list of ianthe quotes i may or may not have been trying to incorporate into my own vocabulary. bc it is a type of energy i wish to take into my future😅

i'm so obsessed with ianthe's carefully curated persona of a genre-aware secondary villain that i'm not particularly interested in her rich inner life, her secret vulnerable sides or whatever fans tend to zero in on whenever they are confronted with a character who is extraordinary, competent and presents an alluring facade of nonchalance to the world. seriously, no one appreciates good showmanship in these godless therapy speak times anymore :( as a wise woman once said, false things have a piquancy which the real can never match🧐

that being said, the unwanted guest brought up one more aspect of ianthe's character i'm very interested in - the whole discussion on the permeability of the soul and how it relates to the extent of control one has over one's own self as a lyctor. first of all, the way this short story is written - choreographed, even - and how the info about naberius is revealed is brilliant but secondly the implications of this reveal for ianthe are so tasty to me bc, as a control freak who must maintain the illusion of control over all aspects of my life for my sanity, i love my little fictional power fantasies of excellency and dominance but i'm also morbidly fascinated by narratives that subvert them and expose this perfect control as mere illusion. and ianthe does both: it's fun when she eats naberius' soul in cold blood and proceeds to manipulate, gaslight and girlboss her way through the series and rejects paul's invitation to join the good guys and try Woke Lyctorhood - but it's also very satisfying to see the light leave her eyes when palamedes makes it clear to her that naberius isn't something she used and spat out but a part of her, changing her self indelibly and in a way she can't control or even necessarily detect, challenging her understanding of herself as an independent, impermeable entity, the cool dominant subject in control of the weak loser object. where is the object, ianthe? where is the body, you goose? in which coff-

I decided that I am confident enough in my writing to start writing my own fics so here’s a little bit about myself, what I will and won’t do, and the characters and fandoms I will write from. ENJOYYY

intro: Hello, my name is Emma and I’m a lesbian from the USA. A little bit about me is that I love resident evil, I love kpop and collecting kpop albums. I love twice, loona, childish Gambino, laufey, and a lot more!!…like seriously…I like way more artists than that. Not only do I enjoy to write but I also have a very deep passion for art (although I do get mad when my art doesn’t run out how envisioned it in my head…😣). That’s enough about me let’s get on to my info for fics

for fics I really won’t do multi chapter five as I just don’t have the time for it. I mostly enjoy doing drabbles, head cannons, and fics that are sort of lengthy if it’s a prompt I like.

what I 100% will write: fluffy stuff, angst, chubby reader, serious topics (as long as they aren’t too icky but if it’s like let’s say just for example somebody requests the reader/character has problems with their body image I will do that),character x character (depends if I like the ship or not tbh… but I probably will in most cases), wlw, afab reader(x reader is mostly what I’m specializing in🙏), and really anything unless it’s not on my ‘what I won’t write’ list but if you request something that has a certain prompt/though that isn’t on any of these lists but I don’t like it, just remember I’m allowed to freely decline;)

what I 100% won’t write: pregnancy (sorry….), smut, HEAVY angst, anything like at all that has to do with body fluids that aren’t blood (I know this one mostly dabbles into the smut topic but the people on this app seriously can have some peculiar ideas so I just felt the need to incorporate it🤷‍♀️), amab reader, trans reader (I know this can be taken the wrong way but I’m a fully cis person so if I were to write a trans character or reader the amount of times I’d probably say something that doesn’t make sense for the person being trans would get me deleted off the surface of the earth out of embarrassment 🧍‍♀️), mlm(again, can be taken wrongly, but I really just want to do wlw stuff😣😭), mlw (again, I really only want to do wlw stuff please don’t come for me…),any sort on non-con (I know it’s a serious topic and it also dabbles into the whole smut thing…which it really shouldn’t…that’s just like one of the only serious things that I’m not comfortable with writing)

i would like to personally thank priest for keeping zhi xiu and xi ping apart for most of tai sui. every single thing they say to each other does horrible horrible things to me.

kingdom Pathologia, part 2: Crystal Poisoning

Also known as "Gleamshell" or "Miner's jewels", this crystal growth mostly affects the workers of Crystal Peak.

It is caused by shards lodging into the shell, although it has been recently proposed that inhaling the dust from the mines can also cause it.

It does not distinguish between bug or beast of burden, thus daily checks are realized in the mine's exits.

As the crystals grow they cause more, acute pain. Other symptoms include:

- Prolonged lethargy

- Difficulty breathing

- High fever

- numbness

- Auditory hallucinations

- Stiffness

(Shards quickly grow and branch out)

Crystal poisoning has no cure, and must be constantly taken care of, resulting in the classification of three stages of crystal growth:

1- Initial discovery. The growth is minimal. Checks in the mines are aimed at finding these, and treatment seeks for it to not progress past this.

2- Great Crystal Growth. Critical state. Extreme action must be taken and the survival of the patient is not warranted. Searing fever and hallucinations are to be expected.

3- If action is not taken in time, Great Crystal Growth can turn into Greater Crystal Growth —also known as "Glass Tomb" or "Gleaming Cocoon"— at any time. The victim is considered dead at this point.

Daily treatment consists of the careful extraction of any visible crystals; it is custom for the entire treatment to be paid with the crystals extracted this way.

Afterwards it is suggested to balance out one's breath, soul and water to further reduce the growth speed. The assistance of a priest or sage is recommended.

The common method is meditation to spread the soul and to inhale incense to balance both water and breath.

It is not recommended to visit Hot Springs, for its heat and streams will quickly throw water and soul out of balance.

(There aren't any Hot Springs on Crystal Peak for a reason...)

Unfortunately, there's a rather sad trend growing between miners: to hide away the sickness and let the valuable crystals grow on their shell, to sell the shards for some quick Geo; this practice has lately gained the disease the new monicker of "Greed's Glaze".

There are already many poorly made jewels on the city, even in noble houses.

They shatter easily, and crystal poisoning outside of the miner community is on the rise.

(so brittle...)

To avoid shame, affected aristocrats will refuse to be publicly treated, and resort to... unorthodox methods.

(so unsanitary...)
