the basic story of this au is a "what if?" of collector being freed a moment too soon (and/or) belos's form not shattering after luz gives him the taste of his own medicine w the sigil/draining spell thing (basically SOMETHING goes differently resulting in this)

and for those 2 months that hexgang is gone to the human realm, this entire time belos did NOT follow them into the realm but instead was being collector's "right hand" of sorts (you can imagine how creeped out king was the entire time lmao!)

which is why in the image description i put into a reblog recently i wished to emphasize on the fact that hunter is MISSING his possession scars. there was no possession to begin with bc belos was in the demon realm the whole time !

however i am more interested in using doll belos as a tool to explore interesting scenarios and more what if-s, so there isnt a specific story/backstory set for this !! and im also more than happy if people want to explore the idea of how EXACTLY we got here. i think if there will be any fan stuff for this that i personally dont find works w my vision ill reblog it with "doll belos headcanons" ! or something similar

If it’s not a bother to you, may I ask about Dollified Belos? Is he genuinely “friendlier” (brainwashed) now, or just a puppet held by metaphorical strings, or is part of him still aware and internally screaming for two whole months (serves him damn right)? Also, I suppose he’d still meet his demise one way or another, though there could be other interesting alternatives to explore.

dollified belos is genuinely friendlier/brainwashed. the spell that collector uses to dollify people simply makes them into inanimate objects with no will, however for doll belos it has been altered to give him partial autonomy. he is still conscious, but the parts of his personality that collector deems "mean" are highly suppressed. even if he wanted to try and rebel against collector's decisions, because of how the spell works he is more likely to go along with whatever collector wants. also if he were to be released from this spell, he would remain all memories of when he was in the doll state, with full autonomy/personality returned. which would be. fun

he's a version of himself that has been forcefully twisted into collector's perception of him: some kind of older family figure/friend who will be there to play with him and care for him and stick by his side no matter what, like he has been for the last three hundred years and how he promised he would.
