Netflix recently held their NEXT UK event which rolled out their upcoming slate of films and series; and while not a UK production (but a European one), surprising no one there was no info on THE OLD GUARD 2. In fact, the only news remotely about THE OLD GUARD 2 comes from Matthias Schoenaerts who was asked about the project while doing press for HBO's THE REGIME.

No more A LITTLE CHAOS, Schoenaerts' Zubak is trying to bring big chaos into the kingdom.

What says Matthias?

Until the release of THE OLD GUARD sequel - whenever that will be - what is the gang up to?

-Charlize Theron is reuniting with her F9: THE FAST SAGA director Justin Lin in TWO FOR THE MONEY, which will pair Theron with Daniel Craig. The film described as a heist thriller which casts the pair as career thieves whose relationship evolve over the course of three big jobs.

-Still awaiting word on the distribution and release of Homer's ODYSSEY inspired THE RETURN starring Ralph Fiennes, Juliette Binoche and Marwan Kenzari

, but a bit of Marwan adjacent news is that Dutch influencer/ Holland's NEXT TOP MODEL participant and presenter Anna Nooshin's partner actor Thijs Boermans recently told the story of how when they were picking out names for their baby

- if it was a boy they had a name chosen for someone Anna knows and who Thijs looks up to: Marwan Kenzari. Were it a boy, they were opting for Chico which is Marwan's nickname and the name he used to go by when acting.

They ended up having a girl, but prior to delivery, they opted not to go for Chico because they thought it was so exotic, only to Ibiza and realize chico is just boy in Spanish.

-Luca Marinelli utilized the casting couch and is sleeping with the director of his now in production film PATERNAL LEAVE! The director? His wife, Alissa Jung.

What is it about? "On the desolate beaches of the Romagna Riviera during the winter, a young woman of German origin meets her father, an Italian, for the first time. The film tells of an intricate and painful comparison between decisions made in the past and the consequences that are reflected in the present."

No solid release date has been given for Joe Wright's Benito Mussolini limited series "M. IL FIGLIO DEL SECOLO / M. SON OF THE CENTURY" with Marinelli playing Il Duce.

However, the head of one of the production companies who produced the series, recently said it will be out in Autumn in this year.

Excerpt from her interview.

One of Luca's costar in M... Gabriele Falsetta mentioned the project in an interview. Although he said he couldn't reveal details, he praised Luca and said that he raised the "temperature" with the level of his acting and that the cast still keep in touch via WhatsApp.

-Kiki Layne's film DANDELION premiered at South x Southwest.

Okay this might be a concept already touched on because idk what happens in the old guard graphic novels, but remember how the immortals begin dream of the new immortal once the immortality kicks in? What if that happens when/if Andy’s immortality kicks back in? Depending on when it is, all 5 of the other immortals might dream of Andy, if she’s separated from Nile, Joe, and Nicky at that point in time. And Andy could potentially dream of Quỳnh having escaped the Iron Maiden before they’re reunited! Andy may be thousands of years old, but regaining immortality means she’s technically a “new immortal”. I would accept any dumb jokes cracked about how she’s actually the baby of the family now bc I think she would get super grumpy about it and that would be adorable and hilarious. Also, I think that Andy dreaming of Booker again could help bring him back into the fold if that’s the aim because man is SUFFERING when Quỳnh rolls up to where he’s staying at the end of the movie.

For those out of the loop, here is a summary of what we know about the car chase scene in The Old Guard 2. Credit to our fandom detectives @pochiperpe90 and @nicojoe, and to @NewsMultiplied on Twitter!

The chase was filmed earlier in August near Lake Iseo (pictured below) in Italy. The cars involved have Swiss plates so we can presume the location is serving as a substitute for Switzerland.

In the scene a black sports car and red sports car are being chased by an SUV. See below photos of the custom-made sports cars and the reserve cars.

Both sports cars are crashed in the scene and we know that the red car ends up in the lake.

We know from IMDb that stunt driver Martin Ivanov is Nicky's double. Stunt drivers Samuel Hübinette and Tanner Foust were also involved in the shoot. Samuel said on his insta story that the scene has the potential to be something special once it hits the editing floor!

In the photo below we can see a stunt driver who looks like Joe, so we can speculative that Joe is driving the red car and Nicky is driving the black car.

netflix is actually ridiculous like the amount of promo shadow and bone is getting is actually insane like there’s a new character poster - posted individually rather than in one multi-post - like every five minutes and they’ve released so many sneak peaks and interviews and had this whole huge premiere that they’re posting every two seconds… and the old guard 2 gets literally nothing

this isnt a jab at shadow and bone (im super excited for the new series!!) just a comparison to show that when netflix gives a shit they actually can advertise their projects they’re just wilfully neglecting TOG. three points to anyone who can guess why based on netflix’s brilliant track record with wlw media

that tudum segment was literal scraps of content, and at a time when they definitely had more content that they just chose not to show, and THEN it doesn’t get released in its own video as basically every other segment was. then they post about TOG in a valentine’s article being like ‘watch this movie before the sequel comes out’. bold of them to assume anyone is even aware of this sequel outside the fandom since they’re literally telling no one about it.

the movie is supposed to come out this year and this is all the info we’ve got. insanely ridiculous. and if it’s pushed back, alright, at least tell us?? genuinely mad about this 24/7 at this point the people behind the making of this film and the community around it deserve better

tldr: netflix’s lack of anything related to the old guard sequel is infuriating and im sad about it

I love how every article about THE OLD GUARD sequel emphasizes the return of Joe and Nicky.

JOE AND NICKY WILL BE BACK. YES, GAY COUPLE JOE AND NICKY ARE RETURNING. WE DIDN'T FORGET JOE AND NICKY, YES, THEY ARE THERE. YOUR BABY BOYS JOE AND NICKY? THEY ARE BACK, YES.

But I have to roll my eyes at the lack of fact-checking. If you've seen the film you know why Henry Melling is not returning. I mean, considering the main characters it is not impossible, but I think this is more of a situation where the writer just copy-pasted the original casting notice and just assumed Melling was a core cast member.

Variety also did this when reporting on the cancellation of the series two order of Sky's THE RISING. They reported that Daniel Ings was in the first series when he wasn't. They were just going off of their original report on the S1 order when Daniel Ings was part of the cast. He dropped out and was replaced by Matthew McNulty.

I know this because I watched every episode of THE RISING and I am probably the only fan Daniel Ings has outside of his family.

It's not only Variety. Indiewire wrote an article about some film and said SUCCESSION's Nicholas Braun was the costar when they meant the superior Nicholas, Nicholas Hoult.

I know I get things wrong on here but this is my corner of the world, not a major publication.
