He chose it, he went to an estate agents and said ‘I want this pretty house’, offered them £60, then rang Kate Stewart and discovered he was getting paid by UNIT this whole time, was able to afford the house/mortgage and BOUGHT THAT HOUSE
The Nobles still have a house in London but they STAY WITH THE DOCTOR NEARLY ALL THE TIME
He chose the house with a sunroom so WILF COULD LIVE DOWNSTAIRS COMFORTABLY

so this random 30 yr old guy who happens to be shorter than almost all of you is like insanely good at killing titans and he’s kinda like the backbone of the survey corps ok cool. you get assigned to his squad and are immediately whisked away to a cabin in the woods where you spend most of your time cleaning to avoid his Disappointed Stare. then you run away to trost and discover oh hey HE’S ALSO GREAT AT KILLING PEOPLE but it’s alright bc at least he has some strangely sound advice that stops you from going fully insane??? is he your dad now?? wait hold on HE’S RIPPING OFF SOME GUYS FINGERNAILS SHIT

Miche’s death is one of the worst in the show.
It was already going to be hard considering he’s a pre-established character and it was the first episode of the season, but how it goes down is incredibly grim.
They make a point of calling out his skill before his encounter with the beast titan, saying he’s second only to Levi, and every time we see him he’s resolved and skilful and bears a grim determination. Seeing such a character not only caught out at the last minute after taking down multiple titans in an impressive display of strength, but so scared that he can’t even talk, is completely gut wrenching.
And then he keeps fighting. Even when he can’t walk and he’s lost his gear, he keeps fighting, which makes it so much worse. It’s a reminder that no matter your skill, your rank, your spirit, you still end up dead sooner or later.
Not to mention the death itself is so visceral and gory and you can see his tears amongst the blood.
One of the strongest characters was reduced to nothing, built back up, and literally torn apart.

‘Don’t you have any semblance of human emotions?!’
The way Dieter says this (S1E22) after the show goes out of its way to show exactly how human Levi is.
He takes Erwin’s order to refuel, despite he and others initially not understanding the point, because he trusts his judgement.
Rather than getting straight to Eren vs the female titan they deliberately show Levi discovering his squad’s corpses, and after each is shown it cuts away to his face and his darkening eyes. This is entirely unnecessary from a plot standpoint, the whole reason for this sequence is to show us a glimpse of Levi Ackerman rather than merely Lance Corporal Levi.
Levi holds Mikasa back from going in blindly and doesn’t write off her belief that Eren is alive despite her desperation for it to be true and when she directly disobeys him he gets himself injured in her stead.
It’s a wonderfully poetic circle, him being called cold and emotionless at the start and one of his final moments in the show being to give a smile and a tear for everyone he lost. But this isn’t down to character development, feeling so viscerally is part of who Levi is. It’s those same feelings that have him in a frenzy at the mere sight of Zeke by the end. It’s those same feelings that kept him fighting even when he was half blind and near immobile. It’s the look of horror at discovering the animals he had been killing for years were actually people.
It’s the man who sat hidden as Eren, Mikasa and Armin dreamed of going beyond the walls and wondered what the future would bring them, who continually gave his life to the fulfilment of those dreams.
He is trusting and protective of others. He is selfless. He cares about the people around him. He mourns.
You can’t dedicate your heart if you don’t have one.
