Imagine Casey Sr and Dee-bot from ‘My Clumsy Not Clever Hands’ off screen and screaming for their respective counterparts to kill, maim and destroy <33 I adore how a community of people has been built around this and the interactions are incredibly funny, heart-warming or heart-wrenching to see <3 my guys are shouting encouragement on the sidelines for @tmntaucompetition

Characters from TMNT 2003 that I personally miss (and kinda wish were in other versions)
Nano: baby robot who had a scientist mom and a criminal dad who each just wanted to use him, either just as a science experiment or to commit crimes, but all Nano wanted was a family (and he should have been adopted by the turtles, he should have been their 12!Metalhead/S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N.)
Silver Sentry: Superman? The American Ideal of Truth and Justice is a Kind and Funny Black Man who is genuinely good friends with Mikey? Sign me up!
Nobody: An Ex-cop who tried to go after the corruption in his own precinct, and while he could be less of a cop, he just wanted to stop crime and make sure no one got hurt, even the gang members he went after and the billionaire that bought his old precinct and got him fired.
The Justice Force: Having a superhero team in the TMNT universe just feels right. It's a superhero universe, the Turtles are Superheros; having fellow heroes to work with and both be mentored and mentor others gives the wider world so much depth on top of the turtles having a reliable group of people to call on when things got too dangerous and out of hand.
Angel: She wasn't Casey's sister, but he treated her like a little sister and she was a good mirror character to Casey. She had all of his flaws but as a younger person he had taken responsibility for she provided a way for Casey to address those flaws in himself while helping her avoid taking a bad path.
Professor (and the knockoff Jay and Silent Bob who hung out with him): Homeless characters need to be People. Professor was a person and a fully round character and I hate it when homeless people are just props and not people.
Augustus O'Neil: April's uncle who gave her her adventurous spirit! You can really feel his influence on her personality and can tell that he encouraged her to become a scientist. (though I think it would also be fun to make him her dad. Come on! April and August? The Father-Daughter duo we deserve.)
Casey's Mom/Ma Jones: Look, sure, she was rude to April, "testing" her to see if she really cared about Casey, but that's kinda understandable given the kind of people Casey would likely hang out with (criminals and vigilantes) and she apologized immediately after. And, Ma Jones knew Splinter (the master ninja) and Leo (his best ninja student) were there and helping April pass her "girlfriend test" the whole time, but she didn't want to say anything about it to not offend her son and his friends.
The Daimyō: Even if he's not the runner of the Battle Nexus, he was Splinter's Friend. His relationship with Splinter let the audience know Splinter had a life outside of his family, that there are other people Splinter knows and can go to, who he can talk to about being a parent and just hang out with.

Finally, we get to the many, many superheroes that show up in the 2003 series. Who is your favorite?

Days 25-28 of TMNTtober2023
My version of The Sliver was honestly so fun to draw and color in. I might redesign his armor to not only look Samurai-like but actually take more inspiration from OG/Mirage Shredder. I think it’d be interesting to have him start out as some masked mutant that began fighting the Super-turtles before he’s unmasked and it devastates his sons so much that they couldn’t finish him off for so long.
Look at Mikey with his little trophies that he’s gonna most definitely rub in Raph’s face. He probably still does so for as long as he could. Ooh! I can’t wait to write the chapter with the rematch between him and Kluh. You’re not gonna believe how pissed Mikey gets when Kluh insinuates the kind of fate Isabella would get when the turtles and Splinter would perish. Luckily that’s not gonna happen. (Not even Splinter blames him for striking his opponent when the fight is over. Kami knows he’d do the same if someone dared say something so horrendous about his children.)
And the last one on the bottom right. I still think Leo actually took the most traits of Splinter with his self sacrificing habits. I mean they gotta come from somewhere.

Usagi looks genuinely terrified of April, lmao! And what a dear the Silver Sentry is for playing along. I love that he did it for double chocolate cookies, such an inexpensive weakness compared to Kryptonite🤣🍪🦸🏿‍♂️

i've been rewatching tmnt 2012 and tmnt 2003, and there's one extremely specific difference between the two that really exemplifies to me why 2003 is the better show: how both series treat unhoused people
Tumblr media
the Professor is a character we meet very early on in 2K3 - the turtles met him sometime before the series start and he's close friends with all of them, gifting them computer parts or comics or anything else he thinks they'd enjoy, while the turtles bring the Professor and his community blankets and help protect them from bad guys who would take advantage of unhoused people
the turtles respect the hell out of him, and he's invited to their christmas parties as well as april and casey's wedding years down the line
the societal mistreatment of unhoused people is the focus of the Professor's first episode, and at no point is he ever depicted in a meanspirited or stereotypical way or are there are any jokes told at his expense. he's a well-written, fleshed out character that the show and writers actually respect as a character, and that goes for most of the reoccurring non-white characters in the series like Angel, Karai, and Silver Sentry
and then you have tmnt 2012
Tumblr media
"Homeless Guy" makes his debut in the very first episode of the series, on a dirty mattress in a filthy alley, farting in his sleep. he's part of the joke that new york city is absolutely disgusting but the turtles are in awe of it all anyway
as a character, "Homeless Guy" never goes beyond this cheap, insulting depiction, and pops up a few more times in the series as the butt of the joke or to have something absolutely vile happen to him (FOR REAL THO, this series had a major gross-out obsession, it was hard to watch sometimes)
to me, the depiction and treatment of "Homeless Guy" exemplifies the generally meanspirited nature of the show, and the lack of empathy in its characters
calling every new mutant or alien they meet an ugly freak feels iffy at best and just wrong at worst when your main characters are inherent outcasts from society - basically, instead of building bridges with their fellow outcasts, tmnt 2012 would rather blow up the bridge and cook pizza over the ashes

There is so much to love about "The Christmas Aliens"
Michelangelo is literally the definition of a sweetheart. The episode starts with him playing with some kids in the snow, and later he makes every effort to rescue a stolen truck filled with toys that were going to be donated to a local orphanage
Also the 2003 debut of Klunk, who is objectively the most important character in the entire TMNT franchise. (You cannot change my mind on this.)
The minor scene where Donatello asks who wants to lick the bowl of cookie dough, and Raphael devours it like a wild animal
The fact the Professor and a couple of the other homeless characters are invited to the lair to spend Christmas with the turtles.
Leonardo and Usagi gifting each other swords (I personally view Usagi as being an older brother figure to Leo? But that's just me.)
The mistletoe scene with Casey and April
Episodes involving the superhero side characters tend to be the ones I teeter between being neutral towards or somewhat disliking, but I absolutely love how Silver Sentry was written for this episode. The arm wrestling scene and April gifting him cookies afterwards for making it look like she beat him was hilarious.
Splinter meeting with Yoshi's spirit ;;
The ending scene where the turtles and their friends are dressed up in elf costumes spending time with the orphans (feat. Rat Dad Santa)

Day 25: Friends
Really be watching the 2003 series and somehow not draw this man. I know he doesn’t get many appearances but I think he should get a few more.
I did originally want to do something else, mostly with OCs but I think I’ll do them on Day 29
Yes I noticed it’s the same pose as yesterday
