One Door Closes and Another Opens-Freddie Andersen
Warnings: swearing, implied sex
Humming to myself I walked towards the door of my fiancé’s apartment, we needed to finalize the guest list for the wedding. We needed that done so we could start on a million other things that needed to be decided for the wedding. As I unlocked the front door of his apartment I checked in my purse to make sure I had my tablet, which had all of our wedding details. Because I was looking in my purse I missed the shoe I tripped over. “What the hell?”
I didn’t recognize the heel as one of my own but with all the travel I had done since I was still living in Toronto while my fiance was was in Montreal I couldn’t be certain. I set my suitcase and purse down right inside the front door and moved my way down the hall calling out his name. “Jordan? Babe, are you home?” There was no answer so I assumed he was still at work and I figured I could take a relaxing soak in the tub until he got home.
I was once again confused when at the end of the hall the door to the bedroom was firmly closed, which it never was. Shrugging it off I figure Jordan’s rumba knocked the door closed as it ran earlier in the day. Opening the door my eyes were down at my feet so I didn’t trip over the vacuum. That delayed me from seeing Jordan, kneeling on the bed, thrusting into a moaning blonde that I had been introduced to as Jordan’s secretary. “Jordan?”
“Carly? Baby, what are you doing here? I thought your flight didn’t get in until 4:30.”
“It’s 7, you asshole. I texted you several times saying I was stuck in traffic.” He still hadn’t moved to separate his body from his hook ups and I was done. Pulling off the engagement ring, throwing it at his head felt good. “I’m done, go screw whoever you want.” Walking out of the bedroom and towards the front door I grabbed my bags and was out of the apartment with no attempt from Jordan to stop me. I wanted to cry but at this point I was too pissed to produce tears. Getting downstairs I flagged down a taxi and had them take me to a hotel, I wasn’t going to fly again today.
I got a room and went up to drop off my things before heading down to the hotel’s restaurant/bar, in the hopes of finding food and a very, very strong drink. Sitting at the bar I ordered a burger, fries, and a beer. I got the beer first and by the time my food was placed in front of me I had drained the first beer. Once the refill was handed over and my empty glass was taken away I calmed a little and was trying to keep the tears away. Shaking my head I didn’t want to cry in public so I took a big sip of the beer.
“Rough day?” I turned to the voice and said a large red headed man standing behind a chair two seats down from me.
“You have no clue.” Looking at my phone as it buzzed with Jordan’s name and face I quickly ignored the call before taking a bite of my food.
“Do you mind if I sit next to you?” Nodding I feel his shoulder brush against me as he sit down, ordering a beer from the bartender when he come back through. Jordan tried calling me several more times over the next few minutes. “Is everything alright?”
“Not really, my ex-fiancé apparently can’t take a hint. I guess throwing the engagement ring at his face wasn’t enough of a hint that I don’t really want to talk.
“I’m sorry to hear that. I’m Frederik Andersen, Freddie for short.”
“Carly Shay.” I shook his hand, smiling at his comforting presence. Just as I was about to say something else to my friendly seat neighbor when I saw Jordan walk into the bar, moving straight towards me.
“Carly, I’m so sorry. It meant nothing, it was a mistake.” Turning in my seat to face him all of my anger came back and it took all of my willpower to not slap him.
“What you did was not a mistake, a mistake is losing your keys or forgetting that you left coffee on the roof of your car. You decided to have sex with your secretary when you are engaged, and I’m guessing this wasn’t the first time.”
“Let’s go home and we can talk about this.”
“I’m not going anywhere with you.”
“Give me a second chance.” He grabbed my arm, trying to get me to follow him somewhere else.
“Get your hand off of me. I’m done with you, go back to the blonde I caught you screwing.” He still hadn’t released my arm, his grip getting tighter. “Let go of my arm and leave.”
“Not until you come with me.”
“She told you to let go of her arm and leave, now I suggest you do that before I ask the bartender to get security.”
“Stay out of this buddy.” Frederik stood, towering over Jordan by several inches.
“Leave. Now.” Jordan finally let’s go of my arm and slowly makes his way out of the restaurant while glaring at the both of us. “Are you okay? Do you have a safe place to stay tonight?”
“I’m fine, thank you Freddie. I have a room upstairs for the night because I didn’t want to fly again today.”
“You don’t live in Montreal?”
“No, I live in Toronto. Jordan used to as well but his job moved him out here and our plan was after the wedding I would too. And now I just realized I have to tell everyone that the wedding is off.”
“I’m sorry, even if he is a jerk you don’t deserve to have to deal with that all by yourself.”
“At least we have made any real plans yet so I don’t have a lot of cancellations to make.” Finishing up my burger I dragged one of the fries through some ketchup while thinking. “Thank you for your help, can I pay for your drink as a thank you?”
“No, but that you for offering. If you don’t mind me asking, what do you do?”
“I’m a lawyer for a large firm, they have another office here in Montreal that I was planning on transferring to once I got married. So at least I don’t have to deal with all that paperwork for the transfer.” Eyeing up Freddie, I was curious about him. “What are you doing in Montreal, Mr. Andersen?”
“I’m here for work. I have a large commitment tomorrow night.” He was being extremely vague and that made me want to know more.
“And what would that be?”
“I play hockey for the Toronto Maple Leafs.”
“Oh. Oh, you’re that Frederik Andersen. You probably think I am an idiot.”
“No, not everyone is a diehard hockey fan and besides I have a mask over my face most of the time when people see me. Do you watch often?”
“I watch when I can, I probably get to watch a game a week.” He nods and I see out of the corner of my eye some guys pointing in our direction. “I think your teammates are looking for you.”
“We are going to see a movie tonight before curfew. Thank you for letting me sit with you and talking with me.”
“Thank you for listening and helping with my problems. Are you sure I can’t pay for your beer?”
“No, but thank you.”
“How about when we are both back in Toronto I treat you to lunch someday.”
“Sure. I can put my phone number in your phone so you can text me.” Nodding we exchange numbers before he goes to his teammates and I flag down the bartender to pay my bill.
“The man you were sitting with already paid Miss.”
Over the next couple of month Freddie and I grew closer as friends, he helped me with some of the wedding stuff I needed to cancel and I got to as many of his games as I could. His season had just ended after a second round loss in the playoffs and I was making a dinner for us to share before he wouldn’t be around as much during the off-season. Letting him into my apartment I hugged him quickly before going to check on dinner.
“It smells amazing Carly.”
“What are you going to do without my cooking for the summer?”
“I guess I’ll have to come back often to get some, and to make sure you aren’t working too hard.”
“I have to keep busy with something while my friend is off getting ready to win the Cup next season.”
“I’m gonna try my best. But I was also hoping that while I’m still in town during the summer I could take you out on a date?”
“I- really?”
“Yeah, I want to take you out on a date and see where it goes. The first thing I knew when I met you was that you were heartbroken and I wanted to fix that. So I promise to never break your heart, as a friend or anything more. So what do you say, go on a date with me?”
“Of course. I would love to go on a date with you."
I kind of want to do a sequel to this, let me know if you would like that!

Please Don’t Judge Me Part 5 || Auston Matthews
Tumblr media
Requested: [ ] yes [x] no
Authors Note: It took me forever, but I finally finished this series. I’ve battled with how to bring things to a good conclusion and I think I finally figured out how to tie things up. For everyone that has waited so very very patiently for this ending, I truly hope you enjoy it. Also I get so much pleasure in using another lyric from the same song as part 1 to inspire the last line of the series.
Warnings: premature delivery

~~~~~
After his talk with the guys, Auston had called his parents and told them that he was going to be a dad. Their disappointment with him was almost as crushing as being eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs. He knew that he had fucked up, was still fucking up, but he didn’t know what to do or how to fix things. There had been so many times that he drafted a text to see if you wanted to get ice cream or to ask if there was anything you needed but he was always too chicken to press send.
He had no idea how to be a dad. He certainly didn’t have his shit together the way that you seemed to.
But when you’d reached out with appointment information he found himself driving to the doctor’s office without a second thought. Maybe if he just showed up things would start to fall into place.
Observing you, he noticed that your bump was even bigger than before. You seemed exhausted and kept rubbing at your lower back. But then there was a thumping sound and a grainy image filled the screen in front of him. Your doctor pointed out the different body parts of the baby and it was only then that it fully clicked that he was going to have a kid. Still, he was so afraid of fucking things up that he didn’t say anything. Instead, he helped you up, walked with you out of the office, and took the pictures you offered him without another word.
The fact that he’d ordered you a pregnancy pillow to be delivered to your apartment was honestly the only thing he could think of to do.
After that, he knew he should reach out to you, but once again there was just something holding him back. So he went home to Arizona for a month or so before returning to Toronto to do some training. He’d just gotten back from the gym when his phone rang, Mitch’s number lighting up the screen. He hadn’t really talked to Mitch recently, his teammate was still pissed at him for the way he was handling things. Mitch calling was kind of surprising but he answered anyway.
“Yeah, dude, what’s up?” He replied, moving around his kitchen to get a bottle of Gatorade.
“You better come to the hospital,” Mitch whispered, his voice frantic.
“Why what’s up?” Auston questioned, not fully picking up on his teammate’s tone.
“Y/N is in labor. Doctors’ can’t stop it.” Mitch explained. Hearing that you were in labor caused Auston’s heart to race. “Dude...it’s way too early,” Mitch added. “Get your ass down here now.”
___
Fifteen minutes later, Auston found himself walking through the winding hospital halls trying to figure out where Mitch had directed him to come. As he turned a corner he spotted his teammate, who was clearly stressed to the max.
“About fucking time,” Mitch grumbled when he spotted him.
“What the hell happened?” Auston found himself asking, his pulse still racing.
“She’s been having back pain off and on for weeks,” Mitch explained. “Which you’d fucking know if you had manned up like you were supposed to.” He mumbled under his breath. “Today it got really bad while she was at lunch with me and Steph so we brought her down here. Apparently, the pain is contractions and she’s not responding to the medicine doctor’s gave her to stop them. She’s only 27 weeks and the baby is coming. She’s fucking terrified Auston, Steph can barely get her to calm down and none of this is good for her or the baby.”
A strangled scream sounded from a room just a few feet away and Mitch let out a heavy sigh before motioning to the door.
“Don’t fuck things up even more. Go be with her.” Mitch pushed. Walking through the hospital door, Auston’s eyes went wide. You were laying on your side in bed, tears streaming down your face as you gripped Steph’s hand. Your face was pale, wires seemed to be everywhere, and waves of fear immediately crashed over him. Hearing the door, Steph’s head turned in his direction and she motioned for him to approach the bed.
“Y/N...sweetheart. Auston is here.” She murmured softly. She urged him to take her place right beside you and murmured that she would be back in just a few minutes.
Almost instantly, another contraction surged through your body causing you to scream, and as soon as it passed, it was replaced by another round of sobs.
“Fuck.” Auston mumbled. He didn’t know what to do. But seeing you in pain, seeing you cry finally triggered something in him. Moving around the bed, Auston maneuvered around the wires before slipping in behind you, his arms wrapping firmly around your body, his hand lacing in yours. There was something about his touch that was grounding, the way his fingers traced over your skin as you cried.
When another contraction hit, he kissed your head, his lips lingering against your temple until it passed.
“I’m so so sorry.” He breathed. “I’m such a fuck up. I’ve been so scared of fucking things up that I’ve done just that over and over again.” The tone of voice with which he spoke was one you’d never heard before and you knew he was being genuine. “You’re so fucking incredible. You’re so much stronger than I could ever be. I swear to you, whatever you need, I’m here.”
“I’m so scared.” You whispered, your voice thick from all of the crying.
“I know. I’m scared too.” Auston quickly replied. “But they’re going to be okay. You’re both going to be okay.” He said the words with such conviction that for a moment you believed it to be true because he said it would be. Then another contraction hit, more painful than the last. This time you felt the overwhelming need to push. Crying out that it was too early, that you weren’t ready, that the baby wasn’t ready, you missed Steph appearing at the door and then quickly rushing out to get your doctors and nurses. When the group of them returned, the nurses urged you to let them examine you again, before your doctor informed you that it was time to push. Again you protested, but as your nurses moved your legs into a better position, instructing Auston to hold your leg up another contraction hit and you screamed again.
“Just listen to the doctors.” Auston urged you, his voice scarily steady. “If they tell you to push, you need to push sweetheart. I’m right here. It’s going to be okay. You and our baby are going to be okay.” This time when a contraction hit and the nurses told you to push, you complied, bearing down into it. The sound of Auston counting softly filled your ears as you pushed over and over until finally, the feeling of pressure gave way.
For far too long the room was eerily quiet, but then a quiet cry filled the room. Suddenly a nurse rushed forward to you, placing a tiny infant onto your chest.
“We need to get her to the NICU but you can see her for a moment first.” Seeing his baby....his daughter draped against your chest brought tears to Auston’s eyes and he kissed your temple once more.
“You did so good.” He praised. “She’s beautiful.”
Though there was a long, long road ahead of you still, this was the first time you’d truly had hope. Hope in Auston as a father, hope for the two of you.
Sometimes things have to get ugly before they can become beautiful.
Lost and Found || William Nylander
Tumblr media
Requested: [x] yes [ ] no
Authors Note: Request was for #4 of the soulmate prompts. I loved the suggestions so much. I know it took me forever but hopefully, you see it and enjoy it.
Warnings: none
Word Count: 1,413
______________
“You have to get lost before you can be found.”
Growing up you were in awe of the quote your parents had painted on your bedroom wall. When you were really little they told you that the quote applied to knowledge, to personal growth. It wasn’t until you were a teenager that you learned that it actually applied to finding your soulmate. You see, though no one knew how it worked, when someone lost something it was magically found by their soulmate. It only worked, however, when something was truly lost, you’d know because you’d tried to circumvent the system a time or two “losing” things like a piece of paper with your phone number on it or pictures of yourself. No...destiny seemed to know when you were trying to cheat the system and she wasn’t a fan.
By your early twenties, you’d given up trying to rig the system and settled with waiting to meet your soulmate...hoping that it wouldn’t take too long. You’d known from the time you became a teenager that he existed, there was no question about it. You knew it because you were constantly finding random things. Ticket stubs, men’s socks, even once a jockstrap. The more things you found, the more you questioned just how scatterbrained your soulmate could be. Lately though, your finds have been less gross and more….green. It seemed like once a week that you were finding money lying on the ground, tucked between the couch cushions, in a jacket pocket. And while for the most part, they were small bills, you’d found hundreds more than once.
The first time you’d found money you questioned what you should do with it. And for a while, you tucked it all in an envelope in your nightstand. But then the money kept coming and well it certainly seemed like your soulmate was well enough off and he was your soulmate so you found yourself spending some of it here and there grateful for the little boons in your life.
Now it wasn’t like you hadn’t lost things yourself before. You’d lost money a few times yourself, earrings would fall out on occasion, and you were certain that your soulmate had a collection of ponytails and bobby pins a mountain high by now. But you’d never really lost anything important.
So when you stepped outside of Scotiabank arena and reached into your pocket for your phone to find it missing, you panicked. Losing your phone was everyone’s worst nightmare and while you were someone comforted by the fact that your soulmate would likely find it rather than some stranger a part of you reminded yourself that your soulmate technically was a stranger. Thankfully you’d driven yourself to the game so you had both keys and a car because you couldn’t imagine being stranded in Toronto without a phone to order an Uber. Still, by the time you made it home you were in tears about the fact that you’d lost something so important. You didn’t fully understand the blessing it would turn out to be.
~~~
Basking in the feeling of a hard-fought win and a goal, Will smiled his way through media before returning to his locker to change. Pulling his pants up over his hips he reached down to grab the fabric of his dress shirt and instead his fingers made contact with something hard. Looking down, he spotted a phone tucked into his pile of clothing….a phone that definitely hadn’t been there earlier. The first thing that came to mind was whether this was part of some prank by his teammates. But the phone case was a glittery leafs logo and when he picked it up and pressed the lock button a photo of a group of girls including the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen appeared.
His heart stopped for a moment before it began racing, his brain finally establishing that this was something his soulmate had lost. For years he’d wondered what she was like and now he somehow knew that he was looking at her. As the sounds of his teammates filled his ears, Will quickly pocketed the phone, throwing the rest of his clothes on before heading out to his car. It was only once inside that he pulled the phone from his pocket, his finger hovering over the home button.
To his surprise, the phone unlocked.
Though he didn’t want to invade her privacy, William reasoned that he could only get the phone back to her if he did a little snooping. Deciding that opening her messages might give him a lead of who could get him in contact with her, he pressed the icon and the last active conversation opened. Inside was a string of sent pictures….pictures of him.
Following the pictures was a received text: Fuck you’re so goddamn lucky. Damn chemistry for keeping me from being there right beside you.
I know right? He looks so cute tonight. I might need you to revive me later when I recap the game for you.
She had been there. She had watched him score, had taken pictures of him and he didn’t even know she was there. She was attracted to him and didn’t even know that he was her soulmate. It was almost cruel and unusual punishment when he had been waiting to find her for so long. Staring at the phone for a moment longer he ran his fingers through his hair before composing a message.
Hey so uh...I’m your friend’s soulmate and she lost her phone at the Leafs game tonight and uh...I’d like to get it back to her.
The moment the message sent Will started overthinking it. Of course, this was her soulmate, who else would have found her lost phone? And did he sound too creepy? Would her friend think he was crazy and refuse to help him?
She’s been freaking out! Where did you find it?
William really didn’t know how to answer that without admitting who he was so he decided to stay vague.
Was between two articles of clothing when I went to change.
That was totally both true and vague not saying where he was when he found it.
So uh...she said to give you her address if you don’t mind dropping the phone off tonight? She’s kind of going crazy without it.
Yeah, no problem.
He would drive to Buffalo if it meant meeting her. The address came through quickly and after plugging it into his navigation, he pulled out of the parking garage. Driving through downtown, his palms began to sweat and by the time he stopped in front of the building his GPS directed him to, he honestly felt like he was going to pass out.
With her phone gripped tightly in his hand, he stepped into the building and rode the elevator up to the proper floor. His body ran solely on autopilot until he was standing in front of her door, his fist raised to knock.
Three short raps against the wood were going to change his life forever. William’s heart was in his throat as he waited for the door in front of him to open but once it did, he felt a wave of peace crash over him.
“My phone. Thank god.” She proclaimed. Suddenly his eyes met hers and a breathy ‘no way’ fell from her lips.
“I think this is yours.” He mumbled, offering the phone out to her.
“You….you’re….” Suddenly feeling shy, Will nodded, his left hand reaching up to scratch at the back of his neck.
Taking the phone, Will watched as she slipped it into the pocket of the sweats she was wearing. Then suddenly she was stretching onto her toes and her arms wrapped around his neck, drawing him down into a soft kiss. She tasted like heaven and Will dropped his arms to drape gently around her waist. Standing in her doorway they kissed until they both needed to breathe and when she pulled away the smile on her face was the best thing he’d ever seen.
“Suddenly that crush makes a whole lot more sense.” She whispered, a sparkle in her eyes. A booming laugh filled Will’s chest making her smile even brighter if that was possible. Stepping back, she reached out a hand silently inviting him inside and Will eagerly accepted, ready to spend the rest of forever losing himself in her.

Please Don’t Judge Me Part 4 || Auston Matthews
Tumblr media
Requested: [ ] yes [x] no
Authors Note: Once again I fail miserably...an update a year is pretty crappy and I’m not even sure if anyone is still interested, but I think I finally figured out where I want this series to go. It probably won’t be more than a part or two longer but we’ll see. Let me know what you think.
Warnings: a curse or two
Word Count: 1,486
~~~~
Soon after it was revealed that you were pregnant with Auston’s baby, the Leafs were eliminated from playoff contention. Auston had insisted that he wanted to be a part of yours and the baby’s life but he hadn’t actually done anything to back up those words. And needless to say, you weren’t holding your breath that he ever would.
In fact, it wouldn’t surprise you if he went to Arizona for the summer and resumed ignoring you. To be frank, Auston doing whatever the hell he wanted was the least of your worries.
Now that Steph knew, she was over at your apartment more frequently and when she wasn’t around she was texting to see if there was anything you needed. There was no doubt in your mind that you were probably going to name Steph and Mitch godparents of your little one and you were grateful for their friendship.
___
As you stood in front of the mirror in your bedroom, you sighed and fiddled with the hem of your shirt, adjusting the way the fabric laid over your ever-expanding bump. You weren’t sure whether the feelings inside of you were more excitement or nerves but either way, you couldn’t get your body to relax.
Looking over at the clock beside your bed, you sighed and grabbed your purse, slipping a pair of sandals onto your feet. You had a doctor’s appointment in 45 minutes and if you were going to make it in time, you needed to get your butt out of the door.
Today was possibly one of the biggest days of your pregnancy. Today you could find out whether you were having a boy or a girl. A mini Auston or a mini-you. You knew that you could find out, but the more you thought about it, the more you weren’t sure whether you wanted to.
On top of all of that, you decided to be the bigger person yesterday and had texted Auston the appointment information. You had no idea whether he was even still in Toronto and he hadn’t responded to the text but your child deserved to know its father, even if you weren’t sure Auston deserved the same. He probably wouldn’t even show, but knowing that he might made you even more anxious than normal.
___
Reaching the doctor’s office, you made your way inside, making note to talk with the doctor about safe ways to alleviate the lower back pain that had become almost constant. After signing in you asked the nurse if you could use the bathroom before your appointment, the baby having shifted on your bladder during the drive over.
As you let yourself into the waiting room a minute or two later, your eyes met brown across the room, and for a moment you lost your breath.
So he’d actually shown up.
Grabbing a magazine, you took a chair two down from his and started flipping through it. From the corner of your eye, you could see him fiddling with his hands, removing his ball cap every so often to card his fingers through his hair. It was clear he was uncomfortable and there was a part of you that was glad he was. He didn’t get to be comfortable when he’d been MIA even after promising he wouldn’t be.
When a nurse eventually called your name, you gingerly pushed yourself to your feet and looked back, waiting to see if Auston was going to follow. He hesitated for a moment before standing and following after as a nurse led you to an exam room. Once inside, he paced back and forth while the nurse took your blood pressure, weight, and quickly measured your growing bump. It wasn’t until she left the room that Auston finally spoke.
“So uh...what’s this appointment for?” He mumbled, scratching at his head once more. You wanted to shoot back a sarcastic ‘to check on the baby you knocked me up with, dumb ass’ but you refrained, instead taking a deep breath and rubbing over your bump.
“It’s an ultrasound to check on the baby’s development.” Certain that Auston still had no idea what that meant you sighed and continued. “We’ll get to see the baby, hear its heartbeat.” The way his eyes went wide told you that was clearly not what he was expecting. Thankfully, before he could say anything in response, there was a knock on the door and your doctor made her way inside the room. She didn’t even flinch seeing Auston standing there and instead just flipped through your chart before looking up at you.
“Alright Y/N...I see we’ve reached the 18-week mark and you’re scheduled to see your baby today.” Her smile was bright and reminded you why you had chosen her as your doctor all along. It was hard to be stressed while surrounded by her easy demeanor. “I see the nurse already took your measurements. You’re right on track there. Growing nicely. Any new symptoms or concerns you’d like to discuss?”
After asking how to best address your back pain, you were given some tips including obtaining a pregnancy pillow, seeing a massage therapist, applying some topical relief, and which pain medication was safe to take if needed. She then addressed that soon you should start feeling the baby move and what else to expect over the next few weeks.
“Should we take a look at that baby now?” She finally inquired after you’d had all of your questions answered. Shifting on the table, you pulled your shirt up over your belly and slid your shorts down just a tad to provide her full access to your changing body. As you relaxed back you shivered as she put cold gel onto your stomach and started moving it around with the transducer. After a moment she pressed a few buttons and then reached up to turn the screen in your direction as the sound of a rapid heartbeat filled your ears.
You’d seen your baby once before, but now it actually was starting to look like a baby, and tears immediately pooled in your eyes. The fact that a tiny human was growing inside of you was still mind-boggling. For another few minutes, your doctor typed away, moving the transducer to take some measurements. Then she turned to you, a smile on her face.
“Everything looks great Y/N. Would you like to know the sex of the baby?” Looking over at the screen, you immediately knew exactly what you wanted. You’d been going back and forth for days but now you felt completely certain.
“No. I want to wait and be surprised.” You answered. The sound of the chair beside you squeaking made you jump. You’d honestly forgotten that Auston was even there. For a split second, you thought about how maybe that wasn’t what he wanted, but then you decided that you didn’t care about what he wanted. Not knowing brought you a sense of peace that you hadn’t felt yet and you knew it was the right decision.
“All right then.” Your doctor agreed. “If you ever change your mind you can just give us a call but I don’t blame you. It’s honestly the greatest surprise ever.” She mused, tapping your knee before handing you a few paper towels to wipe your stomach off with. “I think you’re all set. Pictures will be waiting for you up front. I’ll see you in a month.” She declared, before quickly scooting out of the room to see her next patient. For a moment you just relaxed against the bed, your brain processing everything before you cleaned up and fixed your clothing. By the time you had done that, you realized Auston was offering out a hand to help you off the table and begrudgingly you took it, holding on until you were steady on your feet.
Neither of you spoke until after you’d stepped out of the office. As Auston held the door open you reached into the envelope to pull out one of the two copies of photos the nurse had printed for you.
“Here.” You murmured, holding the sheet out to him. Auston took it warily, slipping it into his wallet. “Thanks for coming.” You breathed, twisting your keys on your fingers. “I’ll text you the date for the next appointment, but that one is just a check-up so nothing interesting will happen.” Auston nodded but it was clear that he still didn’t know what the hell he was doing and it was frustrating. You were trying and it still seemed like he wasn’t.
Shaking your head you turned and walked away, heading back to where you’d parked your car. A twinge went up your back as you slid into the driver’s seat and you sighed.
“I love you little one, but your daddy needs to grow the fuck up already.”
15 with mitch marner
My first request with Mitch! Thank you! Hope you enjoy it.
With this, we’re going to call hockey Christmas in July a wrap except for any soft/smutty holiday thoughts you have.
15. We’re stuck in different cities, so we won't be together for Christmas. We end up talking on the phone for hours, to the annoyance of our families (380 words)
____
You’d made your plans for Christmas months ago. A trip to a mountain cabin with your entire extended family. At the time it had sounded wonderful. But that was before you met Mitch.
Meeting Mitch was a breath of fresh air in your life and even though you’d only exclusively been dating for a few weeks, you wanted to be around him all of the time. Which was hard considering so much of his job involves traveling. And now the few days where he was off and in Toronto, you were zipping off to be somewhere else. You were frustrated but there wasn’t much you could do about it.
The days leading up to Christmas flew by in a blur, filled with only the occasional text from your boyfriend as he spent time with his own family. But then Christmas Day itself had arrived and after opening all of the presents, you’d decided you needed to hear Mitch’s voice and had called him just to say hello.
“Hey Cutie. Merry Christmas.” He greeted. The two of you started by talking about what you’d done the past few days. Then you’d moved on to what presents you’d gotten and before you knew it you were just chatting back and forth about anything and everything. Your cousins tried to get you to come watch a movie or play a game of cards and you certainly heard Mitch’s brother and dad calling for him in the background.
Still, neither of you moved from where you were lounging, enjoying the sound of each other’s voice. Talking with him was easier than talking with anyone else had ever been and it was so easy to lose track of time.
“Y/N...would you get off the phone with that boy already?” Your grandmother scolded you, but you continued, only hanging up when Mitch’s stomach got the better of him and he decided he really needed to eat. It was then that you’d realized the sun had already set. You really didn’t care what anyone else thought because you were happy and being happy was the whole point of Christmas. Mitch made you feel confident and giddy and you couldn’t wait to be wrapped up in his arms to feel his lips on yours once again.
