okay i just marathoned the entirety of ATLA live action & i might do an actual review of it explaining my thoughts more in depth, but the TLDR version basically boils down to this:

if you want to watch Avatar: The Last Airbender, just go watch the 2005 cartoon

#i was trying to keep an open mind & all that cuz of OPLA (my beloved) but. holy shit it was actually worse than i expected :/#like what were they thinking. did they use AI to write this or are the writers just like. really shitty #notes: they linger too much on random bullshit & refuse to move character development along #they tell when they should be showing & when they DO show it's for stuff that benefited from brief environmental storytelling in the OG #the plot drags so hard it was basically stagnant #there were some fun things but like. those things could've been funner if they'd been given the time other useless stuff was taking up #they changed so many minor details that really don't matter in order to make them more important #but this failed spectacularly because now there's just. stupid bullshit clogging up the plot??#instead of having 10 minute monologues 3 times an episode about plot irrelevant things #they should have taken a page out of the original's book & kept minor details to a minimum & focused on ACTUAL PLOT #SO MUCH CGI. LIKE I KNOW THEY NEED IT BUT COME ON. EVEN THE CHARACTERS?????? WHO ARE JUST STANDING THERE????????#they were given 8 hours & almost all of it was Aang angsting (lol) over being the avatar & not practicing actual bending #& then they ended the plot too early so they had to fill in the last like 20 minutes with something else #so they made up random lore that literally makes no sense. & overexplained all of it to the point i was blanking out from boredom #i think this is why i didn't enjoy Korra. they over explain the spirit world stuff & avatar powers & bending #that plus i just don't vibe with the aesthetic #being a writer is a curse because when i dislike something it's because i know exactly what went wrong & why #it's always with the analyzing & the judging & the internal note taking #even when i really try i can't just enjoy shit for fun

#i think ive been burnt out for awhile #like exhausted nothing makes me happy anymore burnt out #i know i need to work to be able to afford things but it is so much and my job is so draining in every way #i feel guilty because i was late to work today i slept through my alarm #but it is because im so stressed all the time my body just doesnt respond anymore #ive worked like 8-13 hour days every day for the past two months and at this point im tired #i dont know if i can do this anymore but genuinely if i dont i will not be able to afford school next year #its a struggle #and then i feel guilty not answering texts or asks even though i love getting them and reading them #because i legitimately dont have the energy to reply #its also why ive been a bit less active but i dont have the energy for it #it makes me feel guilty which makes me feel worse and just sends me deeper into the spiral #it will get better but im not at the positivity place yet #it will get better but right now it fucking sucks and i am absolutely bone deep exhausted and tired of waking up #im in an ok place but i just need to be taken out of time for a bit #k.

#it is 11:01 and i just finished taking a shower that was supposed to have been taken at 9:30 #look. unless someone (steve usually) forces me to go to bed i will not despite knowing i will be complaining the entire day #“im soooi tiiiiired” well maybe its cause you only slept 6 hours you fucking microwave oven #ik its recommended for teens to get about 10 hours of sleep but if the school system wanted me to be healthy they should not make an entire-#-essay due in three days and maybe consider letting kids have more than 10 days absent or even not starting the day at 8 am what about that #huh??? huh??? wisconsin school system i have a complaint to make #see i get 6 hours of sleep. 7 hours at school. that leaves me 11 hours for personal stuff and a good four of those are spent eating and-#-doing chores and talking to family etc etc. so i get about 7 hours to myself add in showering homework and laying on the floor sobbing #and ive got like 5 and a half hours of free time so excuse me if i like to. yk. do thingsand maybe im not getting the recommended 10 hours #- of sleep.#im regan thank you for coming to my speech i wrote it in 10 minutes it is now 11:12 goodnight of youre going to bed if not?#join me in being a fucking goddamn disaster all the time :)

sleeping or otherwise staying in bed for 11+ hours a night right now and STILL feeling exhausted by mid afternoon and idk what’s going on here but i’m shoveling vitamins down my throat and trying 5 diff eyedrops brands to fix it and failing

#the only other time i’ve taken naps/fallen asleep midday was when stratera made me ungodly sleepy #but i’m on stimulant meds now they’re not supposed to do this #and it happens even when i forget them #i was severely deficient in b12 once but i’m taking that AND vit d so why this #part of it is def the severe dry eyes and i think i did start reacting to the preservatives in eyedrops #but i have PF ones now and Still #hhhhhhh #sorry i know i owe like 8 replies to ppl bht i can’t even do all my tasks in a day bc 12/24 hours are spent in bed now #what’s happening 2 me :(#greem #wharglbargle #the last time i regularly fell asleep before midnight was when i was sleeping in a tent every night and getting up at 6am

Thank you to my professor for having common sense and ending the class 30 mins early cause no one who is willingly taking a class at this time is memorizing chemical formulas past 9 pm

#my school is so. dumb.#the classes during the middle of the week are either 1-2 hours #and they can be anywhere between 1-3 times a week #but the classes past work hours are always so damn long #this class is nearly 4 hours #yet had I taken the class at like 10:30 AM it’s only 2 hours once a week #explain.#and then. all the classes start at 5:45 or 6. unless you live across the street from your job your not going to be home at that time #traffic here is terrible. and yet. the schedule doesn’t match.#they classes should all be from 6:30-8:30 at the most.#you gotta wake up at 5 am to get to work on time here. why tf do we have classes ending at 10 pm #sigh ok I’m done complaining #I’m just. constantly exhausted.#oh man tired brain + autocorrect is killing me here. oh well

I was at my dad’s yesterday and like,, my dad is albanian and his wife is vietnamese right. it’s always the most interesting cross cultural experience,, the food is a mixture of asian and mediterranean food and both of their english is rly not that good but they still find ways to communicate regardless (and they have for the past 3+ years or so) and my dad loves to have wine w his wife’s dad whenever he’s over even if they rly can’t understand each other, her entire family loves my dad and he loves them back!!

they find ways to celebrate each other’s cultures and always manage to find common ground.

anyways, what i’m trying to say is,, never underestimate the mutual understanding that can happen between ppl who have experienced communism in their country lol

#jess things #my dad is the most average mediterranean man he’s not very knowledgeable and his worldview is very limited #but one thing he’s done his entire life is work hard all he’s known is talk and enjoy himself with people #have a drink and have fun when the opportunity arrises #he’s very very flawed and has disappointed me many times #but i will always be in awe of how much love he holds in his heart it will always trample any hardship he’s gone through #my dad has been a refugee my dad has been imprisone #my dad has worked so hard for days on end its all hes ever known to this day #my dad has been undocumented for 8+ years #and just recently he was able to get his pr card #my dad has a drinking problem and a smoking problem and every he grieves his family #*everyday #and now my dad has found a family once again where hes loved where he can be happy and taken care of #he likes to go fishing for hours and hours #and its taken me so many years to forgive him and be at peace with him #but i think im okay now #i think im okay with him now
