Tiger & Bunny Week Day 1
Favorite Character
Lately, I've really been into Subaru Sengoku, aka Mr. Black, aka Hello Goodbye.

He's basically the Red (or in this case Black) Ranger we've all been waiting for. Hot-blooded, but with a good heart. He's a younger version of Kotetsu (Wild Tiger), but with spice. Don't get me wrong, I'll always love Kotetsu, but I also love Subaru. It also helps that in the English Dub, Subaru is voiced by one of my favorite actors... I wonder how Akechi would react to this.
Favorite Episode
As I have said in the past, Episode 5 of the first series is my favorite. I like how Kotetsu always tries to give Barnaby a happy birthday, only for bad luck to strike at every possible moment and Barnaby putting the blame on him. Yeesh, Barnaby, the guy just wanted to make your day special, not ruin your life. Makes me glad Bunny changed his mind later in the series.
But as of late, the second episode of the second series seems good, too. It shows us a little more of Subaru's background. (Of course, we only get a glimpse of it. To see the full story of Subaru before becoming a Sternbild Hero, we have to read the manga which I'm still waiting to be printed in America.)
Favorite Movie
It's really hard to choose. I like both movies very much. But I suppose if I must choose one, I guess it would be Tiger & Bunny: The Rising.
I think I like this movie because it shows how much Kotetsu and Barnaby try so hard to cope with the fact that they can't work together anymore only to realize that they need each other more than anyone thinks. I also like the introduction of new characters, especially Ryan Goldsmith/Golden Ryan. He may have left at the end of the movie, it would not be the last we see of him.
P.S. As of February of the years I wrote this post, this movie turned 10 years old.
Favorite Song
Well, I guess it would have to be Shougai wairudo sengen. It's a song sung by Kotetsu. The style of the song really connects with his personality as someone who is wild, but at the same time a good person who is brave. Of course, Linear Blue wo Kikinagara by UNISON SQUARE GARDEN is good, too, as it tries to sum up the plot of the first movie, Tiger & Bunny: The Beginning, especially during the end credits when we get to see scenes that we can only see in the actual series or didn't appear in the film.
Well, that's it for Day 1. I really look forward to the days to come in Tiger & Bunny Week.

RYAN GOLDSMITH/GOLDEN RYAN - Tiger and Bunny: The Rising & Tiger and Bunny 2
PROPAGANDA:
He is the funniest character in the show aside from the mc Kotetsu. He's very flashy and melodramatic. He's introduced as a red herring villain (he's actually a cool guy when you get past his obnoxious attitude.) He has a pet iguana named Molly who he talks to in multiple emotional scenes. In the dub for T&B2 he calls himself a feminist and it's a really funny scene, but also shows quite a bit of character growth in his willingness to be considerate of others. His catchphrase is, "Kiss my boots," despite the fact that he only uses his hero powers when he's on his hands and knees.

Something something about Kotetsu being Barnaby's emotional anchor and being the one who helped get his moral compass right.
Something something about how the foundation of their trust in each other came in the episode where they were trying to defuse a bomb and they couldn't, so Kotetsu made a way out and made damage control (not to the building lol) by asking Bunny to follow his plan.
When the situation is like a bomb about to explode, even when Barnaby is ready to go with it until he dies, Kotetsu is thinking of a way they can solve the situation without dying. That's why on the first season, Kotetsu was kinda driving in terms of having a plan: he figured out how to defeat Jake and was there to calm down Barnaby with his presence, he also figured out how to defeat that Fake Tiger robot and ultimately was the one who took down Maverick.
But in The Rising and season 2, it changes.
In The Rising, Barnaby has been working on himself and it shows. His time with Kotetsu has made a big effect, so it's Kotetsu's turn to be a little irrational and paranoid. Barnaby is not longer the rookie, the new guy. Kotetsu is having a life crisis we can all understand, because he doesn't want to be a burden to Bunny, he lost his job, he's losing his powers...
Still, when Virgil went after Barnaby, Barnaby was in total control and he admitted it was thanks to Kotetsu too. He was not a murderer, not someone going after revenge anymore, because he met a man so wonderful that gently let him back into the right way. And when Lunatic accuses Bunny, we see how angry Kotetsu gets, how protective. Kotetsu is always trying to work as an anchor to his family and friends, Bunny is not the exception.
Finally on season 2, there's no longer one or the other. The whole season is showing you in contrast just how suee they are with each other, how used they are to thinking alike and doing things together. Their perfect synchronization, how they do the same things without realizing it, how they act like a team out of nature... When the final fight against the twins break, it's not Barnaby or Kotetsu's plan, is theirs.
The advantage of seeing them through the eyes of the other heroes and characters of the show is that you're seeing how they truly act, how closw they are and how it is perceived. Because you're not in Barnaby or Kotetsu's pov, sometimes you don't know what is happening in their heads. You see them act and you marvel at how they practically read minds.
Barnaby has come so far, grow so much as a person. That's why his relationship with Kotetsu is now more mature, stronger, it is more sure in its own. They have become so much like each other that it's like they are always there, the two of them, even when there's Kotetsu or Barnaby ik the room, not both.

Meanwhile Blue Rose got downgraded from the Japan-exclusive Pepsi Nex to regular Pepsi to a non-carbonated beverage in a pouch, damn Well, least it’s drinkable ice cream so I guess it was more on-brand for her anyway like how Rock Bison keeps getting the beef bowls (or canned beef in S2 anyway). Funniest shit in The Rising is that moment where Mario is pushing Kotetsu and Barnaby back together as partners and they are like "but wait, what about Ryan" and Ryan immediately goes on a rant about how they are the only ones for each other.
And then Barnaby is like "wait wait there's a law and there's our boss, he can't just—", but Agnes is already saying approved right from a giant TV on the sky.
Before that you even had Lunatic basically kicking Kotetsu's ass and shooting him down right to Barnaby, because if Kotetsu would insist Barnaby was worth defending, then why the hell was Kotetsu fighting with him (Lunatic) when he should be working with his partner.
The whole scene reads like Sternbild city is just pushing them to get married again after a temporary break up. Mario even teases Kotetsu saying "not ready yet to make the big decision?"
When Kotetsu says "no" everyone goes O.O but then he explains he is not enough to Barnaby. The scene cuts out to Barnaby looking PISSED at Kotetsu for being such a fucking moron. It takes the entire as in THE ENTIRE city of Sternbild to convince Kotetsu he is enough, and still Kotetsu turned to Barnaby to ask "are you okay with this?" which reads as "Do you want me back? Do you accept me back? Are you okay with having me being your partner even if an old man who's losing his powers?"
AND BARNABY'S REACTION????
"We can't say no to this crowd," and after a beat, "It's okay with me. With you around it'll make me stand out".
HE WAS SO RELIEVED THAT KOTETSU WAS BACK. THAT KOTETSU CARED ABOUT HIS OPINION. THAT THE ENTIRE CITY WANTED THEM TOGETHER TOO. SPECIALLY RELIEVED ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF THINGS GOING BACK TO WHAT THEY WERE. HE MISSED KOTETSU SO MUCH AND WHAT A JOKE THAT KOTETSU DIDN'T HAVE A SINGLE CLUE ABOUT IT. LIKE KOTETSU THINKS BARNABY WOULD REJECT HIM. FOR REAL.
Barnaby was saying "I'm better with you around. I want you around. I can't deny the fact that we are meant for each other and we should be together. And I want you just as you are."
The next scenes of them bumping fists and the city cheering and the other heroes beside them, framing them in the center together as the sun started rising on the horizon?
MARIO DECLARING THAT THEY WERE OFICALLY BACK?!?!?!
The reason why they act married on the second seasons is because THEY GOT MARRIED IN THE RISING. YOU CAN'T CHANGE MY MIND.
