What is your opinion on artists claiming the comparison between Asha and Isabella is racist? That they think it had to be racist that Asha and Isabella are described as to being alike.

It would be one thing if these are real life people and actors that are going through the "all brown people look the same" treatment, in which yeah that of itself would be racist

But they aren't. They are pixels. Animated characters that do in fact resemble one another when they really shouldn't. Disney animators designed these characters, meaning they of all people would understand the fundamentals in design philosophy. When it comes to creating character designs, there are a lot of factors to consider that most people in the industry had to learn. Although looking through concept art again, you can really tell Disney executives meddle with the overall look of the movie and the character Asha. (Although I will say one concept art was literally Isabella’s face but I digress)

I kinda explained what I mean in some of these reblogs and posts I made

But yeah, overall Asha’s design is very unoriginal and disappointing given the concept art we see of her in Amazigh clothing. If anything it’s racist on Disney’s parts for not pushing that mold just to play it safe

I don’t really have a favourite but I did this one recently and thought it was funny so,,

“Why did you even drink that much? I thought you said you weren’t going to do that anymore,” says Daniel, as he starts the truck back up.

“was tryin’ t’ be a good wingman f’r Dutch,” Johnny slurs, “but it didn’ work.” He frowns, turning to look out the window.

Daniel raises his eyebrows. “Oh?”

“Yeah cuz y’know I jus’ want him t’ be happy, cuz I know what it’s like to like someone who… Someone who doesn’t like you back,” Johnny says with a sniff.

“Wait, what?” Daniel starts, more confused than ever. Glancing over, he can see unshed tears in the other boy’s eyes. He feels an ache in his chest. “I thought you said you were over Ali.”

“I am,” Johnny sobs.

Aaaw that's a hard question Sir. Hmm I'm actually not into chocking, I don't like the feeling having something tight on my neck (I wear my collar very lousy actually). What do you think of Asha’s hair moving in this new WISH clip?

I saw this last night. If this is Asha’s “Big Princess Number” then I really have no hope for this movie. Song is ass, and they just refuse to animate Asha performing actions that actually correlate with her emotions(not that they have her emote). But I’ll have to save that for another time, let’s focus on the hair animation

For one thing, the wind logic makes no sense; like there isn’t any indication of there being wind strong enough to have her hair float like that.

Disney, did y’all forget that’s why you have animated particle effects like leaves or sparkles or lines to indicate wind? The sparkles behind her are stationed stars btw. The only indication of movement is really just the camera circling around her, as she just doesn’t move herself. She spins around in the last bit, but not enough to have her hair flying around, and even then again it remains in that one damn shape

Her hair breaks a part a bit, but they are trying their damn best to make it remain in that shape, and like you don’t need to??? Disney???!!!

I think they were trying to get a Pocahontas feel from this scene, but none of the animators knew what made it work(animation-wise, movie is garbage).

First off, Pocahontas’s hair, despite her hair designed as a specific shape, you still can see how strands move across her face. Her hair also moves around drastically in the wind, where it never stays in that one shape. Could y’all imagine seeing these, and Pocahontas’s hair just remains one solid shape like Asha’s?

Notice another trait Asha’s scene here doesn’t have? Particle effects and color. There are leaves, fog, and lines to show you an indication their is wind. Asha’s scene got some flower petals falling, but not because of wind. It’s just gravity, which I’m not sure why the petals started falling out of nowhere in mass, nothing indicated the tree was shook enough to have that effect

Btw major continuity error here: you can’t have petals dance around her briefly one scene, only to have her big “shouting out her emotions” moment have her plastered in front of a blank background that is just this one color. Where were the petals?

Anyways, Disney animators heard that Black hair is hard and stiff, and just ran with that. “We did research” my ass
