father wanted to put him up in a cramped apartment with a possible roommate that had just the essentials, mother wanted him in a high rise with every last amenity known to man at the avalon towers. they compromised, because they were both being unreasonable, and roland ended up in a middle class housing building that boasts a varying crowd of families, students, single career-focused individuals, happy couples, fighting siblings, and everything in between. it is reasonably priced depending on what you deem reasonable (ro wouldn’t know because he doesn’t pay the bills) and has a few amenities, like a laundry room in the basement, central air conditioning, a polite day doorman, a mysterious night time doorman, and the super, anthony, who might be a smart ass but will get things fixed in a jiffy.
i’m just going to focus on the one floor block roland lives on and go from there! i imagine it looks something like the above(ty google images).
you can be a recluse here or you can be the overly friendly neighbor who is home more often than not. while i know everyone who might take a spot in here can’t fit their character in with every neighbor plotwise, that’s totally fine! it’s not like i imagine them all getting together and talking about their days–but there are connections to be made here and considering i love platonic relationships i am here for that. they see each other in passing, they steal a lighter for a cigarette, they see the other on the balcony at three am and maybe just can’t stop thinking about them?? lots of fun potential stuff here so please love meeee.
roland, who is a functioning addict to say the absolute very least, is super charming, polite, and maybe just a little headstrong from time to time. he invites people over, out, to dinner. not everyone, but if you get to chatting and then you get to riding the elevator together while also getting off at the same floor, he will take an interest. he’s unemployed, he’s got not much else to do with his day, and he likes to be busy with other people. helps him…cope with things in a way.
my only specific desire is simply the person who lives directly next to him, who saw his plants dying on the balcony one day and–jimmied the lock, convinced the super to let her in bc she’s harmless or, roland probably doesn’t remember to lock it half the time–started taking care of them and they sort of shamelessly built a cute little friendship from that that could get a little more heavy emotionally wise so i can explore ro’s problematic being. aside from THAT everyone is open so lmk what you’d like and i will add you! my discord is meag #4921

hi y’all! yes, we know, it’s only day one BUT we wanted to go ahead and give a small aesthetic preview to help provide some idea of what the site will look like. we understand that when joining a site, aesthetics are extremely important, and you shouldn’t have to join and invest in a buzz not knowing if you’re gonna dig the site when it opens!
so without furter ado, here’s our site header!
some notes: included in the header is a menu only available when logged in. we wanted to make it easier for users to navigate their custom links (their shipper, dev thread etc.) as well as providing an easy fixed navigation menu for our regular site links. though the header is mostly dark, the site utilizes both light and dark contrasts throughout the skin in order to help with readability. please keep in mind that one of our goals is to keep the site as user friendly as possible. if that means slightly altering colors, font sizes, etc. for users, then we’ll work with you! please let us know if there is anything that is difficult to read or make out. as a final note, we would like to express that much of our inspiration for the skin and codes was taken from dribbble.com users! we will have specifics linked in the credit portion of the site. enzo ashby, aspiring rapper ; istj / pisces / enneagram type 5
keeper of a rusted heart of gold; the definition of a diamond in the rough, or so he'd like to think. self-reliant and innovative, a macgyver in his own right who emobodies the phrase "when there's a will, there's a way". doesn't want to rely on anyone for anything, but would take a bullet for those closest to him. quiet but strong-willed, will relish in his own successes by himself knowing that he defied the odds something or someone placed against him. has been stuck couch hopping pretty much ever since he was eighteen, and released from a juvenile detention center after a 2-year sentence for a drug possession charge. finally has some stablility (or so he hopes), living in the garage of his friend/music producer but in the back of his mind he's not sure he can count on it.
needs: his music producing friend!! i've decided that while rapping is his dream, he works as a cook in a diner/restaurant so if you have a request for something like that, take him please!! he's completely open in terms of a love interest so if you'd like him please hmu xoxo other than that, he'll get along with just about any other laid back, music-minded person. extra kudos if you #smokeweedeveryday.

reliable, practical, and loyal, you'll never finding teddy doing a single thing that he hasn't already turned ten times over in his head. has difficulty seeing things outside of a black & white dichotomy. got the short end of the nerd stick compared to his brother - basically, not the cool one between them. loves d & d, videogames, card games, anything that requires him to be methodical and really use his brain power. definitely thinks he's smarter than you but too afraid of the repercussions of saying so out loud. probably can't look you in the eye, or get a full sentence out the first time but he means well underneath his awkward persona.

the other twin / no matter what he did he was always the other twin / late bloomer / identity crisis every year how was he supposed to keep up with his siblings? / artsy kid but played it lowkey / was actually really good at sailing but his parents never paid much attention because his brother was being varsity captain at some more common sport / considering becoming a firefighter so maybe then would finally be in the spotlight / it didn’t work / moved out at 19 to the other side of LA / still loves his parents but prefers to stay away / became a designer but even now isn’t sure this is what he wanted

everyone knows los angeles rents are a scam and a half, which is why this place almost sounds too good to be true. luckily for your wallet, it isn’t. it’s a large 8 bedroom house in west hollywood owned by an overseas investor who rents the place out to maintain an american address and a little additional income. the price tag is hefty at first glance, but split 8 ways, actually becomes a bit of a bargain. the house features a large open space kitchen and dining room area, 8 bedrooms, 3 1/2 bathrooms and even a small pool in the backyard!
i’m picturing 8-10 housemates all together - if there’s a couple that wants to share a bedroom or smth! but basically just a big communal living space w/ a big eclectic group of people that wouldn’t really fit together normally, but have this shared space that brings them together. they probably have the occasions drinks and game nights, and some of them try to cook for each other when they have the time. ages are flexible but probably all in their early to late twenties!

at first glance, roland looks like a deeply inspired (or disturbed) messy artist type. he lives in a studio apartment he doesn’t pay for with high ceilings bright white walls, coffee stained newspapers on his table top, overgrown flower pots on the balcony someone keeps alive--it’s certainly not him-- an empty fridge and a locked liquor cabinet he knows the combination to.
his upbringing was fine, well off, a little strict, but really just simply outlined with goals. he was in college, but since he’s just bleeding his father’s bank dry every semester he doesn’t finish, he’s on a hiatus until further notice to find himself, although he’d be better off finding a therapist.
he’s the epitome of a simple high, and unless you’re close with him, you won’t see the crash that follows. likes to be busy, day trips up north, stopping at random shops to swipe a card and buy shit he’ll never use. starts learning new hobbies, languages, crafts that he never finishes because he’s trying to fill the time to not want another hit. find him set up at his mother’s restaurant when there is no one to hang out with so he can fill some time. he’s charismatic but really deterred from facing his emotions.
end notes: he is a chaotic friend to have and a really bad influence that is hidden under expensive things. if you’re a person who has no self control, ro is really dangerous to be around. or fun, depending on what part of “recovery” you’re in. he’s friends with other rich kids, he has his childhood group of friends but they haven’t really been... in a good place in awhile. i’d love people he stays in touch with from group therapy or one of the eight rehabs he’s had himself checked into and out of. family lawyer whose represented him in possession cases, haggled down to community service and a fine. i don’t know i just want to shut up already!! you can dm me @ meag #4921 if you have thoughts

hi pals! once again, we want to say thank you to those of you killing it with the dev challenge! we’re super grateful for the amount of enthusiasm and excitement being generated, as well as the effort being put out to plot. we hope that when the discord opens in a few days and the plotting challenge, we can really get the ball rolling even faster!
now, it’s time for our profile preview. our profile, while mostly standard, has a few features that aren’t wildly common in jcink roleplay – but don’t worry, the learning curve isn’t steep by any means.
first off, we’re enabling the reputation system! this will be used in character only and is not anonymous (to avoid any bullying or cliqueyness). it’s a fun way to rate character interactions, from public enemies to average joes to chamers and national treasures! think of it similarly to the sims. down vote cheaters and liars, upvote your favorite angel babies. if your character goes on a bad date? click the dislike button on their profile – what a jerk!
next is a bit simpler: the cover photo! our profile is designed to function like a social media profile, and this cover photo is no different. it can be anything, from an additional photo of your character to a random aesthetic or a meme. whateverr they’d upload as a cover photo to facebook.
ALL IMAGES ON THE PROFILE WILL RESIZE. our goal is for the site to be accessible and attractive on both macs and pcs, so we’ve double-sized our graphic requirements. this avoids blurriness and graininess on macs. both photos and gifs will resize from anything, but the avatar is set at 400x800, and the cover photo is roughly 1340x410 (as small as 1000 in width will work.) we recommend unsplash for finding HD cover photo images! you will need 3 gifs – one of those three will also need to be plugged in and uploaded through the avatar system on site, but it can be a duplicate!

this is the girl who pulled an elaborate lie to fool her graduating class in high school that she was going to college in paris for fashion school. truth was, she went on to study the passion she’d long kept a secret — criminology. was absolutely the head cheerleader who would’ve told you that you can’t sit with her. actually much more terrified of peer pressure than she lets on, for all the ‘i’m better than everyone’ act she puts on. throws herself into her studies because she doesn’t know what she’s going to do if she fails; just the thought of failure freezes her up and gnaws at her bones.
needs: similarly aged friends who could’ve gone to high school at around the same time as her, people who attend her soulcycle classes??, other people with an interest in true crime (she aspires to be a profiler one day, too!), academic rivals, a group of friends she can shittalk people with, friends who remind her she needs to at least try and be a better person for all the ‘live a good life’ mantra she preaches during her classes, anybody who knows her twin wyatt???, anything and everything! 💖
