i feel like. theres designing a character with certain themes and motifs in mind, and then theres making a gijinka for the water bottle on my nightstand
#me when im the only person on the bus wearing a mask: i should make a furry plaguesona#its hard to explain bc. most of the time i try NOT to give my characters a 'strong' theme like making their whole design around#one thing like apples or even broad stuff like baking or cottagecore.. idk if its partly for flexibility or because i cant imagine them#making it their whole personality. not bc i find it cringe or overblown but more like ive learned to associate design with character depth#i had a cutesy uwu persona for most of highschool because i thought it would make me more. likeable? easy to remember? since#memorable character designs are easy to recognize. and one way of doing that is simplifying it with a theme or symbol so you form an#association. but since im a real person its exhausting keeping up that appearance all the time and denying myself things when they dont#fit my 'aesthetic' or 'theme.' i think ive grown past that bc i just collect stuff because i think it looks cool and dont let myself dwell#on how it might 'fit' with my image. but i cant help feeling bad doing it to my own characters bc it feels like im making them too one#dimensional. despite knowing that theyre not real and design alone doesnt reflect depth i cant help feeling like its wrong#despite that i love seeing motifs because it feels like it reflects the characters soul and paradoxically gives them depth. it makes them#interesting to look at too and honestly its pretty fun combining things that fall under a similar category when designing#i struggle find a balance between those two things#actually this reminds me of noelles christmas theme.. i dont remember her saying anything abt liking christmas despite a lot of#her design and character tying back to it. it makes me wonder if she would have feelings about that or doesnt think abt it too hard#or if its like a matching family shirts situation and shes just going along with it??#maybe i should just do whatever i want with my character designs since theyre not real and im thinking abt it too hard#although. this probably has something to do with deep seated identity issues huh#yapping#oc talk#oc

Reconciliation
Old dome squadmates Trito and Kinoga get together at Trito’s place to catch up after years apart and a meeting by chance on the surface.

For the lore, includes stuff from splatoon Octo Expansion: Trito and Kinoga were a part of an octarian military squad living in the domes, Kinoga being their squad leader that many looked up to and admired. There were 6 of them who considered each other to be their closest friends. Upon hearing about the tests from Kamabo Co. and the allure of the Promised Land, Kinoga wished to seek it out in order to find a better life for their squadmates. A difficult decision, since it meant leaving them all behind, promising to come back and take them there.
Kinoga enters the metro trials and soon realizes that the Promised Land isn’t what they expected, their hope crumbling when they encounter one of their sanitized squadmates Agara, who followed suit to the metros soon after. Kinoga narrowly escapes, eventually making a break for the surface, carrying the shame of unwilling to return for their squadmates with them (it’s justified, of course, there might not be an easy way in, they might get caught again, Agara is gone)
Trito enters the Metro not too long after Kinoga does, wanting to catch up to them, and an accident that occurs in a test early on results in Trito’s near sanitization, giving him his scar. Terrified, and realizing what happens to his fellow octolings, Trito is unable to return to his squadmates, not wanting to break the news of their loved ones’ untimely fates. He hides away on the Metro until the events of OE happen and Agent 8 dismantles Kamabo, opening an opportunity to escape to the surface. Unwilling to face the possibilities of going back, Trito takes his chance to leave, starting a new life and feeling that it’s for the best if he doesn’t acknowledge it, though he missed his friends dearly.
Years later, Trito and Kinoga run into each other on the streets of Splatsville by chance, and the implications of them both being on the surface and alive hit them, having to carry the burden of leaving their loved ones behind and finding out the truth, knowing the other felt exactly the same, not knowing the fate of their squadmates and not wanting to think about the possibility of them being gone. They have a tearful reunion about it, and set up a meet later, to sit down and really talk, and get into a brief argument when the topic of returning to the domes comes up. Trito’s in disbelief that Kinoga never went back down to check on the rest of their squad, wanting them to have been a better person than him, who was too cowardly to do so. Eventually they do reconcile, and end up at Trito’s place to hook up, where the above comic takes place :]

like we mentioned it before here but if you have to have ebina related to a yakuza from the past for his ol Bring Down The Yakuza gig then why not make him an orphan from kazama's orphanage ???? literally nothing wouldve changed except it would've made more sense with how much kiryu deals with him instead of ichi. it wouldve been a great way to round things off with kiryu's saga too, what with having to confront the consequences of kazama's actions directly and finally and officially burst that fanatic bubble of his (i dont wanna HEAR nothing about gaiden that's not enough for me im GREEDY). theres something in here too about kiryu and daigo but i cant articulate it... i just know that wouldve been better too .... something something kiryu brought daigo into this life and now that he sees kazama 'bring' ebina into this life hes projecting ... idk ..

if you draw enough monster ocs, when you go back to drawing a human character, it feels like "sameface syndrome" everytime, by virtue of their face being. human.

#technically its a re-redesign but the previous design was from before the game was out and before she had a solidified personality#so it was basically an oc at that point#anyway i am a very big fan of how this turned out. especially the shading#art#my art#texas chainsaw massacre#sissy tcm#sissy slaughter#tcm sissy#to go off on character design stuff; i made her dress pink/purple to give her her own color#since the hitchhiker already has a similar forest green#and i gave her pants under her dress because. well shes the only one in the family not wearing pants#which would be fine to me if she wasnt the only girl#i gave her a cleaver because all of the og family have unique weapons and i thought she deserved one too#i gave her pigtails because her personality is quite sillyfun and i wanted her design to reflect that#(plus the original redesign had them and i just liked how they look)#the bruises are something i give practically all the family except the cook#because in the movie he abuses the other two on screen. which i think is fun (AS A FULLY FICTIONAL CONCEPT)#what else what else. i gave her a belt sash to add more detail to the dress#and to separate her chest and her waist#and i thiink thats it. anyway i love character design. if you couldnt tell yet#abuse mention

my favorites of each row: atsuko kinzoku, koharu nakamoto, miku ueno, emiri abe
atsuko kinzoku (second to last, first row)—quirk melting point! with a touch of her hands she can melt any meltable object and consequently control that molten mess :] more extreme melting points are harder for her to do and cooling herself down can be an ordeal. she went to a dance school and was well versed in ballet before suddenly pivoting to u.a. and hero work. her hero name is tungsten!
koharu nakamoto (middle, second row)—quirk tear jerker! she can force people within a certain radius to experience certain emotions! she can do negative emotions much easier than positive, and these changes often make her feel the same way. she went to the same middle school as toga. she is also very into decora kei :^) did not give her a hero name oops but she is the magical girl hero
miku ueno (last, third row)—quirk sleepy sheep! her hair is actually clouds that when used makes the target extremely drowsy. as a drawback she herself is also rather sleepy most of the time :( her first hero name is bo sleep, with a themed outfit, but after she graduates and the nature of her work changes, she becomes somna
emiri abe (second, last row)—quirk animate! emiri has charcoal like pads on their fingers, which allows her to draw. once a drawing is completed, it can come to life and then be used as a tool. effectiveness is tied to how clear a drawing is. the medium is water resistant but can be washed away. emiri’s hair is naturally blonde but is more ash colored because of how often they put their hands in their hair 💀 in public, emiri wears gloves. hero name ani!
(bonus! hideyoshi maki + kanon katou)
hideyoshi (second, top row)—quirk lucky lottery! he has bands on his arms and marks on his face that appear when good things naturally happen to him. as its stored, he can then expend them to sort of force events to happen as long as there is a chance of it happening. less likely events requires him to spend more luck. it is also automatically used to keep him out of harms way. unrelated to his quirk, he has doll like limbs :^) he’s the lucky hero—chance!
kanon (right of emiri)—quirk stereo! she gains super speed and strength depending on the qualities of the music she listens to! she is also emiri’s gf :] kanon has vitiligo as well, which is being hidden at that point in time. she fails the hero license test going against her older sister kotone and partner chiyo, who go to seiai academy, but eventually gets her shit together and becomes the wabisabi hero—shuffle 👍🏽
dragon ball
i had several saiyan ocs (maiz, kohn, aspara, pumpki, etc) when i was in hs but i havent drawn them since so here are the ones i have!
nati (from naticidae, genus of moon snail) and kitsu (from tsuki, moon) are my namekian ocs! they are bonded in the same was dende and cargo were.
unfortunately they died in the namek saga, and were later revived on earth. during that wait for the namekian dragon balls to be used again, they explored earth and decided to then explore the rest of universe 7 to see what’s out there :D
nati is a dragon clan namekian! they have a shitty keychain esque set of dragon balls that aren’t capable of much besides wishing for the return of a lost sock. they think its cute but don’t use them often because of the hassle of collecting.
kitsu is a warrior clan namekian! he died protecting nati on namek and as a result has become very guard dog-y regarding them. you know how it is. was initially reluctant about not going to namek with his brothers.
i’m still waffling about who but while hopping from planet to planet one of them gets gravely injured to the point where fusion was the only option available to them. as a result this fused namekian has extreme survivors guilt and is reluctant to return to namek. (though they may eventually do to see if porunga can unfuse them)
since we know that zeno erased like 6 universes before the universe survival saga i wanted to make a set of ocs from one of those erased universes (god of destruction, angel, supreme kai). i did not get far in that all tho 💀 only designed the angel and i don’t think they have a name. but i probably wouldve named them kesa (from sake, doubleish meaning with the negative conjugation of kesu, to erase)

CHILDHOOD FRIENDS !! we know this, childhood friends to lovers trope 🫶 since aslan isn't the mc in our silly hpma universe, they met when they were 5 during one of the aureus's vacation trips instead, after aslan's parents saw how enthusiastic and happy he is with his new friend they decided that there was no harm in frequently coming back there for their vacations
anyone with ears that come close to little aslan had definitely heard about this daniel at least thrice . boy would not stop talking about the adorable friend he made, cassandra suffered through it the most and when she first encountered daniel in hogwarts still not knowing its aslan's daniel she went "god, you share the name of the boy aslan wouldn't stop talking about. of course you do"
they used to play house when they were itty bitty, asked aslan's mom for one of her rings because she and her husband wore one and things clicked in her mind . got them their own custom pair that'll fit them when they're older and once they are they use it as their real marriage rings
charlotte and arthur, aslan's parents, actually had to halt all arranged marriage proposals to save themselves the trouble of having to cancel when the two did get together, they had an intuition (charlotte used to look at arthur the same way, still does ! they just Knew)
they had a shared frog named mrs. ribbit-ton, they had found her together and aslan decided he wanted to keep her (the start of his finding animals and deciding to keep them habit)
aslan truly really absolutely is capable of doing many-a-things himself but his parents had taught him that love can be conveyed beyond words and through actions and thoughts as well and thaaaaat lead to aslan happily asking daniel for help with the little things, poor boy has to straighten out aslan's tie and brush back his hair in the mornings, this doesnt go without unserious teasing over how aslan would be helpless without daniel of course
extension from that, goldenpage can absolutely understand each other without words, someone could be speaking and one would make the slightest expression change and the other would accidentally burst out laughing
they formed a habit of hand holding :] !! aslan would sometimes look at his hand and daniel would instinctively come to hold it, sometimes aslan would just be writing and looking at what he's jotted down when daniel comes to lace their fingers together
aslan often asks daniel for help with his potions because no matter how well he gets the rest of it he always puts in too much magic </3 spells genius Can Not Potions
aslan sleeps over daniel's dorm more often than his own ! the other ravenclaw's joke that they're stealing him away from slytherin, it doesn't help that he frequently forgets to bring a change of slytherin uniform and has to go through the day in ravenclaw ones.. !

the "would you still love me if i was a worm" question but . its asked every time they accidentally fuck up a spell or potion, daniel's "would you still love me if i accidentally spilled an experimental potion on myself and shrank 30 times smaller" and aslan's "would you still love me if a spell went awry and i'm half beast as a result"
aslan first drunkenly confesses to daniel after the yule ball during year 4 after octavian spiked their group's drinks but it wasn't taken seriously not because of some sad miscommunication but because it was drunkenly said, they both know this and all is well
he does confess again for reals late into the same year though ! but aslan did not want daniel to feel like he had to give back and reciprocate just because of their history and daniel figured it would indeed be better if he thought on it for a while too, things resume as usual for them both ! the usual friend things they do that can in no way be interpreted as couple things /sarc
daniel does reciprocate by early sixth year ! their friends telling them that they Do Know because it was the only time they tried to be sneaky with their hand holding when they had thoughtlessly done it before and to their credit, nothing really changed, they were just as affectionate years before the confession is all 🫶 some people were surprised that they weren't already dating beforehand actually
they took a blood pact after graduation and before the am war (a major event in our little hpma universe) started because they both knew it was coming and what roles they'll be playing, "a blood pact, for wherever our paths may take us it'll never lead us against each other" and aslan jokes it sounded like a proposal . it is and he realizes this when daniel gives him an exasperated yet amused look

Today marks a year since I did this animatic revolving around Aiah’s fears and concerns about Polor’s well-being as well as her own nightmares since the events on Buttoncraft have made her feel a bit paranoid about herself and her neighbors. I remember speedrunning this in a day or so after I initially heard the song, and I kinda lost any sense of my surroundings LMAO but I was really happy with it back then and I still am now even though there are definitely some things I wish I had/could polish up when I first made it (canvas sizing, anatomy). Regardless, I know this song still pains me /affectionate every time I listen to it,, these two really do give me brain worms =w=
