the way all of anders' battle dialogue in da2 sounds stressed out right to the brink of hysteria is something that can actually be so personal. it's the real healer experience. anders you're herding moths constantly trying to launch themselves at any passing bonfire with your whole chest and your whole heart and you are so valid

I just need to know if Im the only one who felt weird abt that Isaac scene. The one where he takes Colin's phone. It just felt ooc for Isaac to follow colin and yell at him to delete the pics like a mom nagging. I never got the impression that Colin was thought to not follow his captain word by anyone in the show. I get that Isaac needed to find out (tho id prefer if colin did it on his own terms) but I still want to know what you think
Personally, I'm sold on Isaac's actions largely because of Colin's in that scene. Meaning, he's the most vocal in his disagreement about deleting private photos post-breakup. I'm afraid I can't bring up the episode atm so I don't have exact quotes, but Sam and Jamie are in full support - lecturing to the group at various points, like Isaac - with the other members being sorta on the fence, but then eventually persuaded. It's Colin who keeps pushing back against the idea, citing (if I remember correctly) things like personal property and memories. That strong stance is important because it sets him up as being the one member out of the group who might feasibly ignore Isaac's order.
Another thing that's important is how open the group is about their relationships (and the ways in which Colin has been barred from that due to his sexuality is a whole other post). From the group hanging on Sam's every text back when he was messaging Rebecca, all the way to now where Jamie is making a (hilariously) impressed face at whatever Will is deleting, there's really no secrets among the team. Or rather, heteronormativity has made it so that most of them assume there are no secrets. They delete those photos in full view of one another... which in some way kinda defeats the purpose of keeping them private, at least on a small scale, but really it's about the good intentions here. They trust each other to do the right thing, but they don't trust outsiders, so they delete the photos so they can never fall into the wrong hands.
Now, toss these two things together. Looking at that combination from Isaac's perspective, I think it's less nagging than it is an understandable (if not excusable) response to his assumptions. Colin has been the most vocal about this being a stupid idea, so when he leaves the assumption is not "Colin wants privacy" it's "Colin is trying to get out of this." Now with Point #2: why would Isaac assume it's privacy in the first place? No one else is bothering to find a quiet corner because, again, no one else has anything to hide. It's also important that Colin doesn't explain this to Issac. To be 100% clear I am NOT blaming Colin for his defensive reaction, only pointing out that, again, from Isaac's perspective this seems even more damning. When Colin says "Fuck off" rather than something like "I am deleting everything, I'd just prefer to do it without you lot looking over my shoulder," Isaac's assumptions appear confirmed. So he snatches the phone. Is that an appropriate reaction? No. Is it an extreme one? Arguably. But Isaac feels very strongly about this issue, even more-so once he realizes that Keeley was a victim, so his belief that Colin is blowing this off makes him angry enough to force the issue. If you won't delete those photos, I will.
Then, of course, he sees what those photos are.
Honestly, I hope this moment of miscommunication and, frankly, privacy invasion is addressed in their (inevitable) confrontation because while Isaac is by no means a bad person for this mistake and while it's understandable how this mistake came about... that's still a huge breach of Colin's privacy, especially given his specific circumstances. Plus, as we see via the acting, it rightly terrifies him. Already we've seen that although Isaac isn't comfortable with this revelation, he's not outing Colin to the group either, so this is perhaps the "best" outcome of such a mistake, bar Isaac immediately reassuring and apologizing to Colin, which we obviously didn't get. But just because he hasn't gone on a full blown homophobia rant doesn't mean Isaac doesn't have shit to apologize for (both now and from the past), so I hope the writing addresses how they both got to this moment, not simply the internalized homophobia that Isaac needs to grapple with.
And yeah, I agree that generally speaking I prefer for queer characters to come out on their own terms... though in Ted Lasso's case I feel like that would have been a waste in some respects? Meaning, this whole arc is not just about Colin, but the community which he's a part of - football - and the horrific homophobia that pro-athletes face. We've just been reminded that there are NO out footballers in the pro league. We've also learned that Colin has no desire to be the poster-boy for gay footballers. So in the last couple episodes to have him suddenly come out on his own would a) undermine the extreme consequences of that and b) undermine Colin's personal wants and needs. I get that Ted Lasso as a whole is about the optimistic vibe and undoubtedly the show has demonstrated, in this season in particular, how far people can come when given support... but I still think it would have been pretty out of left field for Colin to suddenly go, "You know what? I will come out! I will shoulder the terror of potentially loosing these friendships, and the media frenzy, and being forever the first out gay man in pro-football, potentially putting my very safety at risk because the Lasso Way taught me to love myself!" That's a little too optimistically saccharin, even for this show. Personally, I prefer this version where the outing occurred due to good intentions - Issac trying to protect people from what Keeley is going through - while still allowing the space to unpack WHY Colin was scared to come out in the first place.
Basically, I expected Colin to be outed somehow because I've always figured that would be (and I do kinda hate using this word) the most realistic outcome for his scenario. In real life someone should NEVER go through this, but in a story sometimes a character needs that push, so that we can resolve the conflict by season's end. Given my other meta-writing obsession, I keep comparing this scenario to Volume 9 of RWBY. It rankled that RWBY had a magical universe force Blake and Yang to confess because they live in a homophobia-free world have nothing, absolutely NOTHING, personally holding them back. So why make a joyous moment so uncomfortable by taking away their consent? In contrast, Ted Lasso is all about that homophobia and Colin has a boatload of personal reasons not to come out, even though he may want to in a perfect world. In this case, the story "has" to force his hand somehow. Either that, or we'd need more time for Colin and the world he lives in to develop - time that Ted Lasso simply doesn't have.

which of the skip button ending monologues are your favorite and why?
they all cause me pain
The first one feels very Lewis Caroll, very Alice in Wonderland. It's fun to me for that reason.
The pain of the self awareness in "Oh my god, and it's all because of those reviews! Why did I have to fix the problem?" is one that means a lot to me because it's relatable. Desperately trying to please everyone will never work.
"I'll give it all up, I'll give everything up, I just need to know someone is listening, because it means I am alive," also hits hard. I have had dissociative moments that reflect this! Needing to know someone can see you, or hear you, and acknowledges your presence, is so significant as a person with Trauma (TM)
"But they didn't understand the game was never meant to be funny!" is probably the top contender, though. Because even tho the narrator is talking through his ego, enraged (tho he denies it "Im not mad, THEYRE the ones who are mad" like. babe), he's.... kinda right.
"And then, because it was said, because it was spoken, now it simply has to happen! The most immediate desires, every single thing demanded by every person at every moment in time - if someone wants it then it's a crime not to bring it into being? Have we been given to indulging every fleeting whim for no reason other than to do so? Yes, yes!
It seems that this is now the world we live in! It seems that we are a people living in such bleakness and discomfort with ourselves that our entertainment is now our lives! It has come to represent us! It absolutely must speak to who we are as people!
Because otherwise, without our entertainment, we have nothing! Without entertainment, we would have to face inward toward the cruel bleakness inside ourselves. We would turn to look at our deeper nature and find a resounding emptiness gazing back with unyielding aggression.
And so - so because of this - we require that our amusements, and our play things, and our flights of fancy be so impossibly captivating, that they consume all of our attention, turn our heads completely away from the bleakness! In effect, we have demanded that our entertainment be the collapse of ourselves."
There is a level of truth to this--that isn't to say that this is a universal, human issue, but it is 100 percent a capitalistic issue. We live in such a bad way right now that we need fleeting, all attention consuming media as escapism! it's so difficult to have the time to do more involved, more deeply satisfying activities, and when everything is at the touch of your fingertips with tech, and there is a constant grind, it doesn't seem feasible.
it's sad that he's right. it's a great point to make (that I think CrowsCrowsCrows was aware of when they wrote it) and I will never stop thinking about it.

okay no one more thing then im shutting up. been seeing lot of laughing and snide commentary about “oh, people living there are afraid for their lives? for their families? what did they expect after all those years of oppresion 🤣 🙄” in my For You page (which, hey Tumblr, what the fuck, can you not?)
i dont know why i expected nuance and understanding that the civillians living under a shitty government are not actually responsible for the atrocities that government and its supporters commit, and are literally just trying not only to live their lives but even support justice and try to fight for peace and dignity for the Palestinians too when/where they can, and dont actually deserve cheering and jokes over their fear and deaths…
…from a website that overwhelmingly still continues to pull the exact same shit about writing off the american south as being entirely conservative right wingers and celebrating and cheering for like. natural disasters and shit and abhorrent legislation that civillians have been living under but once it starts affecting politicians in power and notable fascists/evangelists down south its FUNNY i guess and joking about that and posts about like. how we should just cut off the south/go ahead and secede/let them all keep “reaping what theyve sown”/etc.
like. y’all know that people living somewhere like that… can’t really just… leave, right?
like. go ahead. any non-indigenous american right now. you’re on stolen land too. stolen through genocide and murder and rape and other various atrocities. some of you, your ancestors did the stealing, some of you, your ancestors came later. some of you, your ancestors were stolen too. none of that matters tho, in this scenario. youre living on land stolen through genocide. you have to leave, or youre just getting what you deserve because of what your governments doing.
can you leave? right now, can you pack up your shit and go to another country, afford the transportation and the travel and the new lodgings and make a new life for you and your family? do you have connections there? can you get a visa? know how to apply for citizenship? and this is IDEAL conditions. no war, no “volatile political climate leading [country youre going to] to decline accepting any refugees at this time.”
if thats a “yes?” you are. INCREDIBLY fucking lucky. that is not something feasible for most people.
NOTE: no where in this am i saying that violence is never necessary to acheive freedom. im saying for the love of fucking humanity, stop cheering for collateral damage.

playing around with the logistics of saeyoung w an mc who has a kid, the only work-arounds I can think of,
-the kid didn't initially go with them. we have 5 days for the common route, we could say MC was running errands or something while the kid was with a relative/friend/other trusted babysitter for a bit when the prologue happened, and it wasn't until after MC more or less moved in that they brought their kid (MC's prior living situation IS like, never mentioned. so maybe moving to the apartment after establishing it seemed safe seemed like a good choice. more space, nice neighborhood (according to unknown anyway. tho if rich bitch V was paying for it, he could def afford a decent place). they don't like, KNOW yet)
-mc & kid def go to stay with jumin when saeyoung leaves for mint eye but maybe they can support from like, a distance? like stay on the phone with him as much as they can. so like the only difference with day 10 is their physical presence. they're still There in a sense, so saeyoung can keep his head on straight
i dunno. I'm trying to think about it but yeah he'd definitely be 1,000,000% more stubborn about everything if a kid is involved
It's definitely a tough situation because Saeyoung's priority would be to tell you that your child comes first. He's right, your kid does come first. You have someone to protect. In that sense, he can relate to you and he understands what it means to be in charge of someone who is completely innocent. He was the only one who could take care of his twin because their mother wasn't going to do that. He knows what it means to be responsible for someone's safety.
Which is why any MC with a child is on thin ice with Saeyoung in the sense of, "I hope to God you didn't walk into this apartment with your kid because he is going to trust your judgment a lot and it's not going to matter how much damage control you do now, there's just no way to go back after that. "
If MC does go to the apartment, your assumption might be the only one that's feasible. They would need to be alone. Unknown wouldn't pick someone with a child, that's a liability, but! If he did, this MC has to be like, in parent mode, wanting to help Unknown. "Oh, goodness. Okay, I'll lend you a hand in this! I'll leave a note by the door and give them your number!"
This MC might be more trusting of the apartment complex since it is in a good neighborhood. It's still never advisable to go to a secondary location. Never do that, kids! But, if they decided to chance it, I think the area might convince them it's not dangerous. It would, at least, in this sense, be enough to make sure that Saeyoung wouldn't think so much less of you for risking a child's safety.
I just genuinely don't know how you could play out Saeyoung's Route being a parent. He wouldn't let you go with him on the mission, and you'd be in the dark for a damn while because Saeyoung has to duck and dodge a lot of agents in the field to get by. You being there in his route makes a lot of difference in Mint Eye. So, not even counting the Secret Ending content, I'd have to wonder—
You're the one that shoves the floppy disc in the computer to jolt Unknown before he pounces on Saeyoung to attack. How does that play out this time? When you're not there as a liability, Unknown goes for the kill. I wonder how that plays out, since, unfortunately, you're not going to be there. You're locked in the penthouse with Jumin for safety measures.
Like, I can see him doing his best to get by in a life on the run while he tries to save his twin, but you being there is what gives him a real chance to delay Vanderwood, too. You're not going to be there, how is Saeyoung going to fight the agency? You're the one that drives all of you out of there. How does that play out?
Like, yes, supporting him over the phone and video games is a really important factor that would help out... but there are so many things in the Route that depend on YOU.
It's not impossible to make this work out perfectly, but Saeyoung is the toughest character to play with in this situation because of what we know about him. I think this concept could be interesting to see written out but there are just so many factors that make it seem like...
Saeyoung will be killed later on because he doesn't have what he's getting originally, or Saeyoung never gets close to you because you have a child and he's afraid of A) more innocent people hurt due to his recklessness and B) we don't have time to unpack his parental trauma.

sub!azriel but the reader and him aren't together yet and she keep teasing him without knowing until he finally has enough and goes and begs her
Pairing: Azriel x reader (acotar)
Warnings: smut, sub!az, slight degradation, lotta fluff tho
A/n: so i kinda did the ending of this drunk while watching pulp fiction so if it’s confusing that’s why and I apologise lol
——————————————————————————
He had first met you while training the priestesses. You were a friend of Emerie’s. A fae woman that almost brought him to his knees with a single look.
You had nervously spoken to Cassian about joining in the training and had progressed past his group and into Cassian’s within two weeks.
That was probably for the best.
Besides your original nerves, you had thrown yourself into training - eyes always on him as he spoke and went through moves, moved which you copied with the precision of a ballerina.
He had withered under your kind gaze, soft eyes making him want to fall into you and let you fight away all his fears. And whenever you had spoken to him it was with undivided attention, always listening carefully and providing whatever he needed - whether it was someone to complain to or someone to laugh with.
The night he fell in love with you however was different. He had gone into the library searching for Nesta and found her with Emerie, Gwyn and you, all relaxing in soft clothing.
He had almost fallen over when he saw you in an oversized hoodie with tight shorts and baby pink toenails, your face clean of makeup and still somehow the prettiest he had ever seen.
You had smiled brightly when you saw him, patting the empty space beside you and - unable to deny you - he had come to sit beside you, shivering when you lay your head on his shoulder with your book abandoned in you lap.
As he sat, Gwyn carried on explaining a new concept she had been exploring with her tutor when you spoke up, “But you’re basing that hypothesis presuming the butterfly effect doesn’t exist.”
He tilted his head down then, as you sat up, frowning at the loss of contact while Nesta barely hid her smug grin behind her hand as she watched the interaction.
“The butterfly effect?” Gwyn asked, grabbing a notebook as you smiled.
“We’ll you’re talking about fate, saying that everything is predetermined. But the butterfly effect proposes that anything, even something as small as a butterfly flapping it’s wings, can change the whole course of the future and can split reality into different pathways. This creates alternate realities, one were the butterfly flaps it’s wings and one were it doesn’t, and even such a small change is still a change.”
He didn’t really understand your concept but Gwyn was furiously scribbling things down and scoring things out as you continued.
“So yes, there is a large chance that maybe once there was a predetermined set of events, but as things change and as people are born and stray from these paths, there is no feasible way to ensure everything goes exactly as determined.” You spoke with your hands, something he had never noticed before. You explained the concept slowly and clearly to Gwyn as you discussed the topic in depth, your face lighting up as you spoke about the unknown.
He fell in love then, when he watched you speak so enthusiastically about a topic he had no idea about. But even with a lack of knowledge he wanted to hear all about it - wanted to become so well versed in it that one day you might look at him the way he looked at you.
The problem there was that in his love drunk state, subtleties went out the window. You’d had suspicions before but now, with him blatantly staring at you, you were sure.
You had spoken to Nesta about him before and discovered he didn’t have the greatest track record of admitting his feelings so you decided to step it up a notch, ready to bust out all the tools that would make him confess.
You decided to start simple; removing your top during training and continuing in your sports bra, leaving lingering touches on his shoulders or hands, turning on what Emerie lovingly deemed your ‘sex eyes’ when you spoke to him. And it seemed to be working, he started avoiding your gaze and would pause speaking whoever you touched him, subconsciously leaning into your hand or gently laying his head atop your when you placed yours on his shoulder.
It wasn’t for a couple weeks however that you made a startling discovery. You had decided to make some cupcakes and Azriel had run into you in the kitchen - accepting your offer to help. He had been doing an amazing job delicately filling the cases with batter and you smiled when he finished without spilling a drop.
“Ugh perfect! You did amazing Az!” You had exclaimed, pressing a quick kiss to his cheek before opening the over with one hand and balancing the tray in the other.
He had made a sound under his breath and when you turned back you found him bright red and looking down with a shy smile on his face. Then it clicked why your beautiful, strong spy always seemed so nervous around you. He was a sub.
You were ecstatic the rest of the day, having hit the jackpot with Azriel and with a plan forming in your head. He wasn’t likely to admit his feelings to you but you had an idea that would make sure he had them before you did anything else.
The next day you saw him at training, smiling warmly at him as you usually did and hopping over to speak to him before you got started.
“Hey Az, did u get a cupcake last night?” You asked, smiling brightly when he blushed bright red having run off soon after receiving your praise with a half assed excuse about finding Cassian.
“Yeah they were amazing,” he said, finally meeting your eyes as you looked up at him expectantly.
“Ah couldn’t have done it without your help,” you praised and he blushed looking down again. You heard Cassian call your name impatiently and turned to stick your finger up at him, “Gotta go but we should hang out again tonight.”
He nodded with a smile, equal parts delighted and terrified at the idea of spending so much time with you.
“That’s a plan! See you tonight pretty boy,” you said, walking away while he stared dumfounded at your back. That - that was new.
He fumbled his way through training the priestesses, maybe pushing them slightly too hard because it meant he had plenty to do that didn’t involve thinking about you or about what seeing you tonight entailed.
Or that you thought he was pretty.
You on the other hand, couldn’t get through training quickly enough. You were finishing moves and sequences before Cassian even said them so used to his rhythm that he ended up just letting you leave when you were finished before everyone else - not without rolling his eyes dramatically however.
As you walked out Azriel couldn’t help his eyes from following you as you sauntered away with flushed, glowing skin and your hair swaying with every step as you shook it out. You shot a final look over your shoulder as you left to go shower, waving at him when you caught him staring with mischievous eyes.
You left quickly to go shower and get somewhat ready, ensuring you smelt good and pulling on your favourite underwear. You then decided to fuck with him and pulled on an oversized t-shirt that you kept from an ex-boyfriend on account of how soft it was and your smallest, softest shorts. You had finished getting ready and were making yourself an ice coffee when Azriel walked in with flushed cheeks, wiping sweat from his forehead with his shirt.
You whistled when you saw him and his eyes met yours, widening comically when he saw your bare legs - shorts barely visible beneath your large shirt.
“You alright hot stuff?” You asked as he moved to grab some bread from next to you. He inhaled sharply when you spoke and you barely contained your giggle,
“Want an ice coffee babes?”
“Um sure I don’t I-“ he stumbled over his words as his brain slowed trying to form a single thought other than your soft legs and even softer lips.
“I’ll make you one,” you said with a laugh, “so what do you want to do today?”
“I really don’t mind,” he muttered, watching as you mixed the drink for him and pressed it into his hand with a smile.
“What about a spa day, when was the last time you got to relax?”
“Cauldron I don’t think I’ve ever done that,” he joked and you smiled.
“Let’s do that then, I’ll get you so relaxed your bones will liquify,” you grabbed his hand as you pulled him out of the kitchen and started leading him to your room.
“Do- do I want that?” He asked and you squeezed his hand,
“You’ll understand soon,” you laughed.
You started with face masks and manicures, conversation flowing easily between the two of you despite Azriel’s nerves and the electricity that shot through him every time you touched him.
You were sitting reading together a while later when you shoved your book down and turned, your eyes focusing on him. He felt your heated gaze and tilted his head to meet your eyes, furrowing his eyebrows.
“What?” He asked,
“You’re pretty,” you said suddenly, reaching a hand to trace his jaw gently. He went comically red and you smiled.
“What? I- you think I’m,” he stuttered and you giggled, nodding.
“Yeah you’re so pretty,” he could feel himself grow hard, blushing impossibly hard at your words.
“Say it again,” he forced out and you smiled - reaching a hand to rest on his thigh, stroking it gently as you spoke again.
“You’re so pretty, and I’m sure you’d be so good for me would you?” Your voice got lower as you spoke, Azriel whimpering as you slid your hand up his thigh. “Do you want that? Wanna be my good boy?”
Azriel’s eyes widened and his hips bucked up slightly as he nodded, movements small and insecure.
“Words sweet boy, I need you to say you want this,”
“I want this!” He practically shouted and you laughed sweetly,
“I’m so glad baby, I’ve wanted you for so long,” you confessed - stroking his face gently as you moved to straddle him.
“You- you have?” He was confused and feeling a million feelings at once but so happy with the position he found himself in.
“Mhm and if I’m correct I think you have to,” he nodded quickly underneath you, his hands flying up to grab your hips as you started slowly rolling your hips over him.
“I have,” his voice was already so desperate and you had barely touched him, smiling as you leaned down to press kisses gently into his jaw.
“Mm good boy,” you whispered, “would you like me to touch you now?”
He shook his head and you furrowed your eyebrows, looking down at him with concern filled eyes.
“Wanna touch you instead,” he whimpered out and you cooed stroking his hair.
“Awe baby, go ahead,” you giggled, climbing off his lap as he crawled off your bed and kneeled on the floor - eyes wide as you spread your legs in front of him. He gently removed your shorts and panties, inhaling sharply and your pretty pussy was revealed to him. He looked up at you with his doe eyes, whispering as he silently begged you for permission - but you just smiled and laughed at him with a gentle hand stroking through his hair.
“Please miss I’ll be so good for you, please just wan’make you feel good,” he begged and you relented.
“Okay baby boy,” he swung forward so quickly and buried himself into your pussy, spitting on it before devouring you. His long fingers spread your folds open and he probed your tight hole with his tongue, thumb coming up to rub circles on your clit as he moaned against your heat.
He ate you out like it was his sole purpose in life, putting all he had into the task - almost delirious as he finally got what he had wanted for so long. The days he had spent daydreaming about your soft legs that were now wrapped around his head, the nights he had spent thinking of your pillow lips and how sweet you would sound as you told him what you wanted him to do.
“Oh baby you’re doing so well for me, so good baby. My good boy,” he moaned loudly against your pussy, hips rutting into air.
“M’ yours, all yours,” he cried, pushing two long fingers into your tight pussy and twisting them as he looked up, meeting your eyes as you tangled a hand in his hair.
“Make me come then baby, prove you’re my good boy,” he nodded against you - desperate to make you happy as he worked with renewed vigour. “Azriel baby you’re so good at this.” Your moans were like music to his ears as he scissored his fingers inside you, sucking on your clit hard enough to make you see stars. You swore - hand tightening in his hair - as he pressed into your sweet spot and sucked particularly hard on your clit at the same time, coming hard with an arched back as Azriel stared up at you. Awed at how he had tamed the goddess above him.
You ended up having to pull him off of your pussy as he whined, wet lips pouting as they tried to get back to you.
“No baby no more,” your voice was stern and he whined as you pulled him up to his feet, standing with him and spinning the two of you around.
He was considerably taller than you but even the height difference didn’t negate the power you had over him and when you shoved him down onto the bed and straddled him - kissing him harshly with your fingers squeezing his cheeks together.
“You’re so good baby, so good,” you whispered into his mouth.
“Did I do well?” His voice was so soft that you cooed and kissed him again.
“So, so well that you deserve a reward,” he looked up at you with those hazel eyes you loved so much, “do you want that, want to fuck me?”
“Yes miss, yes please wan’ fuck you so bad. S’all I think about,” you could never resist Azriel and now he was begging, you couldn’t deny him anything.
You reached down to pull his cock out of his pants, choking on a breath at his size. “Fuck baby, you’ve been holding out on me,” your hand moved on its own accord, pumping him slowly - needing two hands to hold him.
He was moaning lowly as you pumped him, precum leaking out the tip and making it easier for you to slip onto him, sinking down until you were fully seated and you could see a faint bulge through your belly.
“God you’re so big baby, filling me up so well.” You moaned as Azriel tried to form a single coherent thought other than how tight and wet you were.
“Do I feel good baby? Do you like having me wrapped around you?” You asked and he simply moaned in reply. You continued bouncing as you waited for a response but when he didn’t reply you slapped his cheek lightly.
“Words Azriel I asked you a question.” Your words were harsh but you spoke with a sickly sweet tone.
“You feel so good, didn’t know you could feel this good. So tight,” he moaned loudly when you clenched down on him, his words making a new gush of wetness coat his cock.
You smiled, drawing a hand over his hair as you bounced in his lap, the strength in your legs only letting you lift yourself halfway up his cock before you’re sinking back down.
“Fuck Az, baby you’re so big,” you whined into his mouth as you kissed him and he responded with a low grunt - his mind and body completely under your control, despite your intentions.
“I’m gonna come miss, please please let me come,” he begged after a few minutes of your hips rolling slowly over his and you laughed, holding him in your arms.
“Awe such a needy baby,” you cooed, “gonna come so early baby, needy slut.”
He whimpered underneath you, hips rutting into you as his hands gripped your hips hard enough to bruise - desperately trying to stop himself from cumming as you were yet to give him explicit permission.
But that was a losing battle as he lost himself in the warmth of your cunt. He was throbbing within you, pulsating as you clenched around him, the sounds your pussy made as he pushed into your body. He was addicted to the small whimpers leaving your mouth and as he watched you move he knew he would never be able to let you go. He had fallen so hard over the short time he had known you and now he watched you take over his body when you had already taken his soul.
“Please can I come miss, please,” his begs were so soft that you nodded, kissing him again.
“Let go for me baby, show me you’re mine,” you commanded and he shook underneath you, coming with a string of curses.
“‘M yours miss, all yours please,” his eyes were teary and voice broken, but he looked so happy as he stared up at you - mouth hanging open in a silent sob.
He reached a hand between you rubbing your clit gently as you came all over his cock with a loud moan and shudder. He guided you through your orgasm, refusing to take his eyes off of you, completely entranced with you.
When you had both come down from your powerful orgasms, you climbed off him and stood to retrieve a wash cloth and to relieve yourself in the bathroom. When you returned Azriel was staring up at you with tired and nervous eyes.
You cleaned him up gently, pressing gentle kisses into his face and lips as you did so.
“You okay baby?” You asked when you were finished, pulling him into your arms as you lay back down - his head on your chest.
“I’m so good right now,” he whispered, propping his chin on your chest and looking up at you, “was that- was I alright?”
His voice was so small and you furrowed your brows, “baby you were so good, perfect.” You promised, stroking his hair and leaning to kiss his head gently.
“Are you sure cause I-“
“Baby,” you cut him off, “you’re all I want, I’ve wanted this for so long and you were so good. Was it good for you?”
He nodded furiously and you laughed as he came up to kiss you, “then we’re all good baby.”
“I think I love you,” he whispered into your mouth and you smiled.
“I think I love you too.”

"Skeppy will probably cry" "Bad will probably cry". Bish, screw, that I am crying!!!
This whole thing was bloody gorgeous and I wasn't expecting that ending. I had no clue what ending to expect but that was definitely better than any I could have hoped for. Forest spirit to soulmate your honour!
I was terrified that you were gonna leave it at the point where he loses the spirit and becomes mortal again. If you had I would be actively sobbing!!!! And oh my god, the art!!! I still can't get over how wonderful your style is.
Imma ask fun things because if I don't I'll sit in a puddle of emotion all night:
What's the first tech thing Bad will buy and how annoying will he be about it? Poor Skeppy trying to answer 101 questions about something he doesn't really use XD.
Is no one concerned that the odd couple from a town they never name has a pet wolf??
Do they immediately go over to a different town or do they wander for a while. Find hidden creeks and befriend bears?
Does Bad still have a connection to nature and animals, like are creatures naturally more trusting of him?
Do they ever visit the og town again?
Does Skeppy still cause absolute chaos in other towns or has he learnt his lesson and only causes minor trouble now?
Does Bad ever try and study again? If he did what would he study and would Skeppy try to study as well?
Does Skeppy steal? I dunno, he just give off the vibe of a naughty lil trickster who'll pocket something if the owner refuses to sell it him.
Immediately after leaving the forest what the first 'argument' they have (not including the car one)?
Would they ever ride horse? If yes, how terrified would Skeppy be?
Skeppy falls outta tree. I don't know why but my mind keeps telling me that this man has great balance until he climbs trees. They are his mortal enemy and Bad finds this both hilarious and terrifying because he is going to hurt himself.
I had waaaaay more questions than I intended to have. My bad '^_^ but this story was way too much fun to read and you are entirely to blame for making it so engaging!
Make sure to take care of yourself and do stretches after and during drawing. You don't wanna hurt yourself <3
AaaaI’m so glad you liked it! :D And, dang, man, I cried while writing that part too :D
And I promised a nice ending for the main story, I did, and this one also makes the most sense narratively! For the story I wanted to tell, at least. Bad can’t really become human again, he’s changed to much. He can only move on, and do something with what he is, and has. And he did! :D That’s really nice and inspiring, this story will always have a place in my heart, heheh <3
Being a guardian spirit connected to a person and all, Bad may be not as strong as before, but he can’t die unless Skeppy dies first. And Skeppy can do that, but he’s pretty sturdy, and his lifespan operates on a whole other scale than human ones. And Bad knowing Skeppy’s real name balances it all out, makes them equal in the power and influence they have over each other.
So hellyeah, soulmates for the win :DDD
I’ll answer all questions under the cut, and this close up from one of the pages!
Tumblr media
1) What's the first tech thing Bad will buy and how annoying will he be about it?
Probably a pager! Because it’s a more feasible thing to get than a wholeass computer Bad actually wanted :D An it means Skeppy will have to get one too, and that Bad will be having the time of his life texting him and everyone he can get a number from, even if they’re still in the room with him.
Poor Skeppy indeed, he can learn to appreciate the pagers, and later phones, too, and computers, but he really has 0 idea on how it all works and why Bad is so fascinated by it all.
2) Rat and regular people
Oh, she can shapeshift, just like Bad! If they’re out with people around, she takes form of a puppy, and Bad can pass her off as a weird mix breed rescue doggo.
3) Do they immediately go over to a different town or do they wander for a while?
Oh, since they have no end destination in mind, they can ride around for a bit, go visit some cool places and roadside attractions. Sadly, Skeppy is probably not spiritually or morally ready to full on befriend wild bears yet, and they do need money for gas and snacks. So, at some point they will have to stop somewhere and find work – at least for a bit, to save up. Life’s gonna be a bit complicated with all that, until Skeppy figures out his treasure-finding abilities :DD
4) Bad and nature and animals
He is definitely still in tune with all wildlife! Even more – Bad could become a proper guardian spirit for Skeppy in part because, in a way, Skeppy himself is part of the nature.
So yeah, Bad can understand animals (and plants) and communicate with them; they’re just more free to not take his shit, and Bad’s emotions do not “possess” them unless he makes an effort to do so.
He doesn’t like doing it, tho.
5) Do they ever visit the og town again?
Hm, I think they will completely forget about it for a while, until, like, 30+ years later they will be going somewhere, and find themselves around those parts. And they try to not appear too often in the areas they’ve spent a lot of time in already (they can be pretty recognizable, and also barely show signs of aging). But it’s been a long time, and the town’s really different now… So they make a stop, and spend a day there. They walk the unfamiliar streets between the new buildings, check out the popular hiking trail, the advertisements for hot springs and winter activities. The old cinema is still there, and is hosting an all-night marathon of classic horror movies of the last century.
Bad and Skeppy leave the town after sunset – the day was nice, but they have nothing more to do there. They ride through the forest on a well paved road, with radio playing something barely above the whisper. And in the dark of hot summer night, Bad can see the white stag running between the trees alongside their car. Shadows dance over the shimmering light of it’s fur.
Somewhere after the towns border, the stag disappears back in the forest. But the air in the car stays light and fresh, saving the smell of old pines and dry leaves all though the night.
6) Skeppy and chaos
Well, after the whole mess in the main story, Skeppy definitely learned some lessons, especially about not being a dick :D
But the thing is – he can’t really help the fact that things tend to stir up around him a lot. He naturally brings in chaos into everything, because he is, in part, a personification, or an outlet for it in the world. And so, to feel, well and good, and himself Skeppy gotta do stuff that disrupts balance, and creates some mayhem. And in gave him a lot of trouble in early life, but in the course of the main story he learned that he can chose were he lets that chaos to take hold, learned what can come of that chaos, apart from utter misery.
Like, where it can help dismantle something destructive, and where – bring in the more positive change, that was already brewing, possible, but is stagnant for some reason.
Soooo, I can’t say Skeppy causes only minor chaos in his life, but he sure learns even more about not being a dick :DDDD
7) The studying
I think Bad will want to get a higher education at some point, because he wanted to, and because it’s already new millennia and all that. Bet he’ll go for something very technical and/or literature. Maybe he’ll start by piking up some classes in small time colleges, when they stop in one place for a while, and later get into an online program, because why not.
Skeppy is not a college guy at all. He’ll listen to Bad talk about it, read textbooks if he wants to, can research stuff, buuut going to classes and doing homework is definitely not his thing.
8) Stealing
Well, you’re right, Skeppy can and will steal stuff out of spite! And will be scolded by Bad for it, and will not feel (that) sorry about it. But real stealer between them will be Bad himself :D
It’s just… he has the corvid tendencies, and a hoard (a box) of sentimental mementos from different people and events, and the thrill of stealing something small and harmless is very exciting. Bad is very proud of his little collection. Skeppy finds it very adorable, a bit hypocritical, and kinda creepy. Like, that pretty box he gifted Bad at some point is now full of stuff like:
- pressed flower from the clearing they had a picnic at on their anniversary
- the button the waitress lost that one day the storm caused a black out in the whole town
- some small animal bones
- couple pretty rocks Bad stole from Skeppy’s pockets
- penny that was once glued to the ground
- a handful of teeth people (and not people) lost in fights with Bad
- pen from some fancy hotel
- rainbow dash keychain that belonged to a child
- the list goes on
9) Argument
Oh, that same day they’ll fight over whether they should stay at the really crappy and suspicious looking motel, or go sleep in a perfectly fine forest near the road. Ironically, Bad wanted to try out the motel (because, yay, first time spending the night back in civilization), and Skeppy was the one insisting on sleeping in nature (because the motel looks like it could give you 10 diseases if you even stand near it, and sleeping in the forest is kind of nice, and means they can cuddle).
10) Horses
The guys will probably ride them at some point. Well, Bad will ride, and Skeppy will sit on his horse and hope it knows what to do and where to go, because trying to make this giant thing do something seems dangerous. If they’ll have to actually go somewhere fast, Skeppy will not survive that day, his butt (and legs) will be dead for days to come.
And riding with Bad on one horse may sound romantic and nice, but all romance dies when the gallop starts.
F.
11) Skeppy and climbing
Skeppy is more down to earth kind of guy, more of a “rocks and caves” kind of creature, real-life lizard person or something. Up on the trees and in the air – not really his element, yeah. But it doesn’t mean that Skeppy will accept this fact easy. The embarrassment of never managing to safely make it down a tree is too strong, he just has to do it all over again, and again. And again. Because, clearly, he was distracted this time. And the time before that Bad was teasing him, and it “disrupted his flow”. And, really, maybe these trees here just do not like Skeppy much, and make him slip a lot. Yeah.
So, more often than not, if Skeppy climbs a tree, he will not stop climbing it until he falls, or the tree ends. Bad had to take him off high branches couple times, forcefully, because, of course, Skeppy was sitting there for 2 hours just to properly enjoy the sunset. He can climb down at any point, he just Choses not to. The view is amazing. The bark is literally part of his skin now, not because he holds on tight, no, he’s just Than Much one with the nature )<
---
Don’t apologize for the questions! It’s always so fun to answer them, and it makes me think more about stuff I may have skipped, or didn’t think about before. It’s really nice :3c
Again, thank you for the ask, and for being here for this story! <3
(And I’ll try setting timers for rest breaks while I draw, mb that will help)

hi! this is long as shit i’m sorry. i hope it makes sense. i ahve adhd and like 5 million learning disorders so this is just word vomit cos there’s so many words in my brain. my b.
Tumblr media
i’ve had such a tough day so thank you for replying and sharing! @yeedak
i was thinking about what i wrote and i meant to clarify that as well. some cases are fine for both parties and it’s not like you weren’t consenting and it seems like you were happy! same with my friend who was dating a 20 yr old. if they’re happy you know i’ll clown on ‘em but yea. so for anyone that sees these posts your relationship with your partner who is older or whatever. i’m some dumb girl on the internet okay. ill side eye older ppl tho
i think a lot of people feel the same way you do now (me included.) it feels really good at the time but alter we can see the dynamics playing out. i’m 29 now and i think aging is just such a huge process. it’s wild how you at 31 are a totally different person, right?
and the US racism is probably some of the worst ever in its iteration because of slavery which started from europe etc but USA is so fucking unique bc of columbus bringing slaves here and displacing indigenous peoples or hispanola and because america is so influential the way it views race, particularly with black people as objects, has so deeply permeated into the current historical psyche globally. it’s fascinating to track how necessary anti blackness is to the flourishing of america but also the world at this point. also want to point out how fuckign scary sinophobia is here especially for covid. one is a straight historical line (black ppl + the US) and the other had to be manufactured and to continue to exploit the non-white americans and keep antiblackness in tact.i could go on about this all day. the pain of this place is immense.yet as bad as it is here, this is still the only place i truly feel safe as a black person. because of the unique experience we have in america and through the diaspora especially because we are veyr much ocncentrated here. it would be nice to like move to norway and have some alleviation financially or get free healthcare it’s just not feasible if no one looks like me. it’s fucking tough.
i hope you don’t hate it here though and people treat you with respect. but as you know being a woman and jewish and an immigrant....shit is tough. the USA is a hellhole. :( america is so deeply tainted and desperately bad because it was founded on strife and blood and there’s no way to reverse that and what this country did in turn when it gained enough power and could capitalize off of the colonial forefathers. this is why we hsould all luv revolution!!!
HOWMEVERRRR
Tumblr media
boy oh boy oh BOY OH BOYYYYYYYY. well wlecome to the world of BL lmao especially as an adult with some obviously deep perspective just given your background. it is a fucking mess and it’s a hard mess to like but it pulls you in. i approach it like i do with soap operas since these are essentially telenovelas, you know? just like the drama at a billion. but the tricky part of that is like....what parts of it do we understand for critiquing? because so many of the shows are so bad at being like good pieces of things to look at just production wise and story wise. but i feel like these shows ask us to take them seriously, so why shouldn’t we take the content seriously? and this is being primarily peddled to young girls.
i bring this up often but i read this thing about yaoi and the interest younger women/girls have in BL and its fascination with pederasty essentially. this component i think is key when we talk about who gets affected by these things the most. society in general is bad 4 girls bla bla we know lmao but in “more sexually conservative” societies it may be harder for these girls to feel safe even expressing normal emotions romantically and sexually and particularly with guys. some people hypothesized, and i think i agree with this hypothesis, that they can live through the casualness of BL. they don’t feel threatened because they can put themselves into the shoes of the other character. oftentimes, the more feminine or the younger. this was in conjunction with the age gap aspect (they say pederasty as well because there’s unethical age gaps that r gross and that is indeed what we would at least call a touch of sexual abuse if people dont feel like calling it an obsession with youth and power and uhhh young ppl and perhaps kids) where maybe girls could see themselves in these situations as the person being saved, loved, taken care of, and sadly also sexually active and penetrated.
i think that’s just one aspect of it but i do think there’s validity in who gravitates towards it. i cannot imagine seeing this stuff and not getting enough information as a young kid, i sure as fuck know i didn’t!, and seeing these things and you look at it with 0 critique because you’re young and you may have no interest in it or you simply cannot understand what is wrong. no one is teaching you these things and these shows confirm it. and it is wild how intrinsic patriarchy is to BL although in its existence it also can’t be in line with patriarchy given the nature of two [cis] men!
it begs the question about the replacement aspect. is it just so girls can put themselves in these characters shoes? if so then that means we believe that gender is so interchangeable within our relationships and interactions and that doesn’t seem right. there’s more to lgbtq+ than just existing; it’s finding ways to communicate, finding a family, safety, your people, being a free person. there’s a lot to gain and a lot a lot to lose. and a gay man is also not a woman because those are also two distinct experiences.  especially in societies that have a more hidden aspect to sexuality (idk how to word this bc the BL industry would NEVER survive in america but in a way there’s a more “progressive” look at homosexuality but it’s still fucked up because we live in a Society, you know? at the same time look at what we are doing to trans kids. literally waging war so it’s bonkers how we all collectively have some real progress happening but at the same time not at all. the concept of ‘ladyboys’ and the frequency we see trans people in thai shows is wild and something that we absolutely do not see here in the US. still, none of these groups feel safe or are getting better material conditions in either place. we just show the ways we can try and tolerate oppression witout eliminating it imo)
to me it is clear: it’s money. which most things exist to make money so. but also who is the audience for these shows? and they have to market towards them. all that said all hope is not lost there are some decent shows. it’s just like regular media on TV though where it’s so fucking saturated as an industry that it’s literally sifting through garbage. and there are some days when you can handle the trash and others where it really fucking hurts to watch the violence, the rape, the manipulation, the violations, the stupid messaging. i have never seen more people trying to do mental gymnastics and seeing if things were “technically rape” than in teh BL fandom and that is so fucking sad.
i came into these shows at 28 with almost 0 clue of what as media BL was like esp as media that countries can use as soft power with the revenue. but i realize like...i’m 29 now and so many people don’t have a sizeable, though not huge, amount of life experience. and i wonder for people on the internet who are usually searching for something if they spend so much time on it like what a 15 year old girl thinks. what a 20 year old girl thinks.
it is incredibly problematic and so awful but there’s also some rewards. if you haven’t i would definitely watch i told sunsset about you which i don’t think i’m going to finish and i doubt i’ll watch the second installment (watch this be a lie) but when i say some fucking impeccable storytelling and art? phew. now that is a fucking piece of media that works. it takes from moonlight heavily and you can see like...the artistic dedication is there and the story makes its world and sets up its stakes extremely well.
i think because this is marketed towards much younger people too they know they dont have to try as hard. but they SHOULD because then you can have a fucking masterpiece like that. i think even this prolific gay thai filmmaker (who is like solidly against the government) who is so respected (and who i like a lot! if u wanna know i can tell u lmao but the films are very uhhhhhhhh “artsy”) would like i told sunset about you. i wish more people had budget like that and also just cared about the stories. it’s the fucking magic of art to figure out what you can do but there is very little incentive honestly. idk i am very pessimistic. there are days when it’s really a great pick me up and distraction but it is never a place i would love for to feel seen or heard but i’m more of the mind of i never trust the mainstream until they prove me wrong ;)
or i never trust the mainstream and i still buy into it anyway and then cry when i don’t like what i see adn i yell “BOO GET OFF THE STAGE!” when an old man won’t leave a teenager alone

Warning: Heartland Spoilers
So this is sort of really random, but I’m curious. Idk if you follow Heartland at all or know what’s happening rn on that show but it’s a situation similar to Jack and Dan. I keep comparing the situations because they are so similar and keep finding HL is doing better than WCTH ever did with the situation. I could be wrong tho since I wasn’t around the. How HL is handling it is really impressing me and really shows how much they care about the fans.
I wasn’t in the fandom during S5, so I was just wondering how much damage control they did after Jack died and Dan left the show? Because just from what you guys talk about from that time, it’s just seems there were tons and tons of fans who just stopped watching and that there were really no explanations or damage controls after the episode aired, and that contributed to people leaving. I think I ever seeing one on Home and Family but that was it. Obviously people were gonna leave anyway cuz Jack and Elizabeth weren’t gonna be a thing but I didn’t know if there were any damage controls or interviews that went up after that episode aired that would have mitigated it. Obviously I could be wrong and there could have been more than what I think, but I was just wondering.
Just some examples of how HL is doing a good job include having the guy who plays the character that passes have a 10 min interview by himself explaining how he came to the decision and reminiscing and empathizing and really showing he didn’t come to the decision lightly and knew how hard it was for the fans. It was just an all around well executed and done idea. The next was having a 10 min interview posted with his co star and have her explain his decision and how it will affect the story and and how she respects it and is also empathizing and encouraging fans to continue to watch. They also posted an interview with multiple executive producers also explaining the whole process and decisions with Graham and how it played out in storylines as well. Also his co Star has been very vocal in social media and has empathized with fans that way along with other actors and actresses in the show as well.
Finally, and this surprised me the most, was that graham, the main guy whose character died, on his personal podcast, held 2 episodes both more than an hour long with his co Star talking about their times in heartland and how the couple they were on screen came to be and just lots of memories and stories and just a while love letter to the fans who loved the couple. And graham was also very involved in the lengthy process of how they were going to write him out of the show and was willing to prolong it to make it feasible.
Just from what you guys told me ablut dealing with Dan leaving, I just feel HL has dealt with this much better and that Graham did better than Dan ever did with the whole situation. But again I wasn’t around so WCTH could have done a good job, I just wasn’t there to see it.
Sorry that was super long but any thoughts?
I’m not caught up and actually had no idea that Graham left so that’s a surprise to me.  I’ve watched up to the first season that Kevin was on, I think.  Whatever that was.  I’m behind a couple seasons at least and don’t really plan to catch up.
I have a lot of negative opinions about Dan.  Not so much how the show handled it necessarily.  I think they did the best they could given the situation Dan put them in.  There was damage control.  There was the video message from Dan, Erin, and Lori on the set of Home & Family where they were all crying after his final episode aired.  Brian would post things.  The cast would encourage people to still watch.  But the damage was done for a lot of people.  They loved Jack and Elizabeth and they didn’t want to watch the show if they weren’t going to see their favorite couple anymore.  Understandable.
I think where the situations differ is that Heartland had a lot more time.  The audience watched Ty and Amy grow up together and fall in love.  They got to see them get married and start a family.  We didn’t get that with WCTH.  Fans got to see them be married for like 2 seconds and then he was dead.  It’s less of a blow when there’s been this really fulfilling relationship to watch instead of what WCTH gave viewers, you know?  And I think it’s easier for fans to accept an actor’s decision to step away after being on a show for 14+ years or whatever it’s been for Graham.  We see that on Grey’s Anatomy and other long running shows.  They’ve put in their time and they want to move on and we can respect that even if we might miss their characters.
With Dan, it’s the respect piece that’s missing.  Fans felt really cheated by the situation.  In his most recent interview on the subject, he basically flat out said he didn’t want to be there and didn’t really even want or like the job from the start.  I find it really insulting especially after he had all these convenient reasons or excuses about why he needed to leave.  Maybe he did have a sick family member or whatever the situation was but it turns out that wasn’t the full truth or the actual reason for him wanting to be out.  He’d wanted out for multiple seasons and the audience could tell.  It didn’t seem like he was willing to participate in an ending that may have been more fitting or more accepted by the audience.  The show did the best they could with what they had, in my opinion.  They didn’t have a lot of options.
It sounds like Graham is being a lot more open and honest about his decision.  People appreciate transparency and that’s something that was lacking with WCTH/Dan. From what you’ve said, it’s clear that Graham has a lot of respect for the fans and it makes it an easier pill to swallow for a fan when you know that the actor genuinely cares.

can we just talk about nigel... walk us through him please
i’m 2 months late to answering this, but yes. yes we can! i’ll try to give the same general portrait of him as i did in the past with like nate and stuff, hopefully it will be somewhat coherent bc i love him and he deserves to be appreciated and understood just as much as our other fave a class kiddos
so as we all know damn well at this point, nigel is an aspiring actor. he’s one of the few students in the a class who has a very core passion that he doesn’t waver from (like in the way maya, farkle, yindra, riley, etc. kind of just do lots of everything -- and eat up the opportunities in their wake LOL -- nigel is like zay in that they both have very clear areas of expertise that they dedicate most of their energy and passion to). and though he’s not as intense or vocal about it, acting is extremely important to nigel. actually, the whole process and experience of being an actor is, from the character work to the play reading and annotating to those moments of actual delivery. he’s an actor in his bones, equally as dedicated as maya or zay just significantly more outwardly laid back about it.
that being said, i feel like all you have to do to really get a sense of how deeply he cares about it is to... ask him about it. like if you get him talking about shakespeare, any of his plays, the kid who always seems so quiet and laid back will be talking a mile a minute and unpacking the nuances and brilliance of shakespeare’s works faster than you can keep up. he’s also like this -- tho not to the same degree as acting -- about classical music / jazz / a capella choirs / orchestra (since he plays the violin), local cafes + coffee, nostalgic story-driven cartoons like digimon that he watched on pbs when he was younger, and editorial cartoons. like he’s the friend that sends yindra and zay his favorite political cartoon from the new york times every sunday to their group chat (and after some time, jade gets these excerpts too). he’s also decently savvy about fashion, at least the lowkey hipster art deco pretentious chic type of fashion. i think he’s similar to asher, riley, and charlie in that he comes off a certain way and everyone assumes they know what he’s like bc he’s great a maintaining this calm persona, but those who really know him know that it’s all a charade and he’s extremely nerdy, excitable, enthusiastic, and impassioned, etc. if he’s comfortable with you, then you get the full nigel chey experience with all those quirks and eccentricities.
part of the reason nigel has the calm, unbothered persona, though, is mainly because of his family. he has a good relationship with his parents and his siblings, but he comes from a family where there’s a lot to juggle and so many things going at once that it behooves him and makes him feel better to be out of the way and not adding to anyone’s plate. as we mentioned on the income scale, nigel is one of the scholarship students at aaa, so much of his parents’ time is dedicated to making ends meet and looking out for all of the chey children. nigel has a few siblings, but the age gap for the most part isn’t that wide. he has an older sister who is one year ahead of him in school (but is not an artist, she’s studying to be a school counselor), a younger sister who is a freshman, a younger brother who is in middle school, and then the baby brother of the family who was unplanned and thus is quite a few years younger than the rest of them. so they’re a crowded, hectic little clan, and nigel feels like the best thing he can do is just stay out of the way as much as possible and be useful when he can. so he’s become very good at internalizing unpleasant emotions, letting things go, and not getting riled up (esp by provocation of younger siblings). in some ways, this has also made him a bit of a doormat, as we see in some scenes with yindra and zay where their personalities are just so much louder than his so he tends to default to them or try to keep the peace.
nigel also puts a lot of pressure on himself because of the money situation in their family as well as the unspoken expectations of his parents. both of them are supportive of him pursuing acting, and they always do their best to make it to at least one of his performances, but they’ve taken pains to make it understood that nigel is going to have to work his ass off simply because they don’t have the means or industry savvy to help give him a leg up (like half of his classmates do). like, they wholeheartedly supported his application to aaa -- especially his dad, who is a bit of a lit nerd himself and loves shakespeare / passed that on to him -- but they made it clear that if he couldn’t get a scholarship, it just wouldn’t be feasible. thankfully, that worked out for the best, but i think nigel lives very aware of that threat nipping at his heels at all times and that’s part of why he throws himself so deeply into the work and was basically oblivious to any other form of Teenagerdom (i.e., jade’s crush or his potential feelings for anyone) for most of his time at aaa.
there’s also a bit of an internal pressure in wanting desperately to make his family proud and feel secure about his future in such an unstable career. like his mom is an analytical mind, she was studying to be an engineer when she was in college but then she dropped out to help take care of nigel’s maternal grandparents and so she never got to realize that for herself and i think she has a lot of anxiety about nigel ending up in a similar situation where he isn’t as secure or happy as she wants him to be. but she doesn’t really like... understand in her head that thats where her hesitation is coming from + the fact that she just isnt an artist and doesnt really get why doing such a risky career would be worthwhile. she supports him, but doesn’t logically Get it. so i think nigel wants to be able to Prove to her he’s got it under control, that he’ll be okay, so that then they can just enjoy his passion as much as he does without worrying about him at the same time. he’s also the first son of the family, and so he has a sort of subconscious pressure as well from masculinity in terms of like coming out successful and able to help support his family, both his and the one he builds in the future with a partner. so big melting pot of anxieties and pressures going on in that beautiful nerdy head of his, but he doesn’t talk about it really even with people he trusts (like yindra and zay) nor do i think he truly understands himself that he’s carrying all that around. it will probably hit him eventually. guess we’ll find out someday!
(fun fact: nigel’s mom also does side work as a seamstress, so that’s part of why he has such a natural appreciation for that type of work. now who else do we know who is a masterful seamstress... hm... its on the tip of my tongue...)
all of that being said, at his core nigel truly is a very laidback guy. its somewhat a persona, but it also is true to his inner self. he’s passionate, but in a tempered and healthy way. i think that sometimes, despite how creative he is in many aspects, he struggles to think outside the box and off the beaten path because of how important measured success and competence is to him. so things like maya doing whatever the fuck she wants and yindra thinking about skipping college and just jumping into the industry don’t compute for him (the same way all of it doesn’t really click for his mom), and as we know, he sometimes becomes frozen in inaction because that feels safer or more logical. and he’s just never going to be the diva that zay or maya or farkle can be, and he’s content with that. if he’s going to make it, in his head, he’s going to achieve it through hard work, dedication, attention to craft, and being a decent person who people enjoy working with. and he also definitely understands the importance of knowing who to trust and having that tight inner circle, i.e., what he has with the true star squad of yindra and zay.

Spyfall part 2 thoughts
SPOILERS!! also this ended up a lot longer than I expected.
so much of this episode were callbacks to past doctor who!! basically fanservice but I was an absolute sucker for it
the first scene on the plane was so good, from that alone I could already tell this episode would be amazing. The way it transitioned from 13 in the strange dimension to the plane scene, and how 13 talking to herself worked with the action...
the doctor saving them from crashing was the main reason why I knew it would be good bc I knew it would eventually explain how she saved them and I love when stuff like that happens
the blink reference had me screaming, I know it’s basic but that was so cool
I was very glad we got to see 13 in a suit for another entire episode. gay rights
the “chase through time” was so cool, it was amazing and worked perfectly in the story, and I feel like if they elaborated on that it would make a stunning story
l loved Eda so much. The fact that the doctor didn’t kiss her at the end is homophobic
The WWII scene at the beginning rly reminded me of the empty child/the doctor Dances and I was hoping they’d make a reference
I was sad she had to erase their memories but I understand why
I also loved the contrast between the historical scenes and the fam in modern day
A lot of the things 13 did this episode reminded me a lot of 11. like talking to herself in the weird dimension and the apparating man scene
also when she addressed the light beings after coming to save the day she said “listen you lot” which reminded me of the pandorica speech and then she said something like “this planet is protected” which reminded of 11’s speech at the end of the eleventh hour
I also loved seeing her in a more serious mood
When the doc stole the masters tardis that was so good, especially when he was like “that was the worst 77 years of my life”
It’s so satisfying to see the master get outsmarted when he thinks he’s in control
the light beings across time is not what I expected, I wanted it to be parallel earths bc of part one and when the master said everything you know is a lie I thought it was about the nature of reality being a lie but I guess not. that would’ve been cool though
The fam were great
I love graham even more now if that’s possible, in part one I was hoping they’d use the laser shoes that was so good!! “dance graham dance!!” iconic.
I liked seeing those 3 interact without the doc around. It probably happened in s11 i don’t remember anything, but it was cool seeing them talk without her
The tech plot was especially scary bc like. That’s something that could feasibly happen right now except without the aliens
The idea of humans as a hard drive is interesting and very creepy, especially the vor guy using his own mom??
also the vor guy reminds me of an rtd era villain for some reason plus the evil tech concept reminded the of the WiFi episode from series 7
ok so one of the main reason I love the master is their Drama and this guy. did not disappoint
his enterance into the room in 1834 and. the fucking tissue compression eliminator (shrink ray)!!!!!! that made me so happy in part one I’m so glad they brought it back. anyway. exquisite
like many have said he really reminds me of simm
he’s so emotional, like his sadness, his anguish, his anger and rage, he’s like batshit crazy and I love it. Sacha Dhawan Has The Range.
he’s also good at dramatically screaming which is a huge plus. the “DOCTAHHH!!!!” at the end.
Every time the master and doctor interacted in this ep it was like. wow I am thoschei trash, like those two know each other so well!! best enemies 4ever y’all
also all of those scenes reminded be how fucking bi i am like holy shit those two are unstoppable
The frigging contact scene. pure artistry. have they done that since classic who? I thought ten and simm might have but I don’t remember
anyway “old school, you’re not the only one who can do classic”, loved that line (referring to the tissue compression eliminator I assume)
also THE DRUMS!! that scene was amazing, I especially loved how the music synced up with the beeping and the beeps became the beat, and how the drums doubled the beeping... pure fucking artistry
When the doctor shows up to save the day the look on the masters face is priceless
Also “Oh.” “That’s your name don’t wear it out!” that was one of the best moments in the ep holy shit!!!
I think the master is genuinely sad and angry at both himself for bombing gallifrey and the time lords for their supposed lies. I’m excited to find out
I’m asssuming he burned all of gallifrey and not just the capital bc they only showed the capital, too bad though I hoped we’d see some of the doc talking to gallifreyans again
And of course I like that the fam is finally getting to know her past, what she said at the end was very reminiscent of the many “I am the doctor” speeches.
still don’t know wtf a “timeless child” is tho

several years ago I asked you "tips on turning 21?" and you gave some damn good advice that helped me so much when i turned 21. so, got a tip for turning 25 and suddenly being very aware of the process of self-actualization?
[continued] “i asked my older sibling and they said "don't eat trash food" lmfao”
well i actually first off actually unironically agree w your older sibling -- it feels like a drag to get nagged abt it but genuinely switching from like. “hot pockets from the corner store every night bc i’m tired” to gritting my teeth and putting in the planning and time to cook for myself and eat in ways that were kinder to my body did a LOT for like, both just my overall wellness and also my fucking wallet bc trash food is literally so fucking expensive out the gate. there’s like. a whole BUNCH i could get into as someone who has worked in The Health Food Industry abt how a lot of what you’re paying for w processed food is convenience and immediacy and that a lot of times “Healthy Food” costs more in terms of time and preparation and getting WAY fewer calories per dollar in ways that aren’t feasible if you’re food insecure etc etc etc but i’m not getting into that i’m just gonna say: when you CAN, whenever you’re able, gritting your teeth and prying yourself up and over to the kitchen and not having trash food actually does do a lot for u overall.
anyway. cw for brief suicide mention as i talk abt this but i’ll try not to get too heavy abt it
i’m abt to turn 27 next month and have finally hit the point where my life has like... stabilized in a way i never thought would’ve been possible. (i got married, did i say that on this blog ever? hi, it’s me, ira, i got married to the coolest woman alive and moved to spain.) but the thing is i’ve said that every year. like, fuckin, on an absolute clockwork schedule once a year i’ve been like “hi guys wow things have been so crazy but everything in my life has FINALLY settled so i’ll be around a lot more” etc etc. so: your life is never settled and it is also always settling and eventually i have found i just stop noticing. i think also as things settle i’ve noticed i’ve started like, really getting struck by my life STRETCHING OUT in front of me, esp since i was suicidal for most of my life til now and like, i never had to THINK abt or plan for stuff, and now suddenly sometimes it’s like. even tho i’m so happy w my life now it’s still so exhausting sometimes to think abt doing this fucking forever lmao. forever! every day! life is so long and my brain is so small!
all this to say: never expect stuff to be Done esp a concept as huge as self-actualization and also expect to be tired. expect to freak out a little. i know we’ve all heard “nobody has it figured out in their 20s” and we’re like “yeah yeah cool except i look around and other ppl in their 20s seem to at LEAST have it more together than i do” and my solution for that so far has been oh my god stop looking in other people’s windows, ira.
i’m getting really rambly and disorganized here so i’m just gonna post a list of things that have really, really helped me in the mid-20s zone and that made me healthier and happier than early-20s me
i don’t drink or use substances when i’m in a bad mood anymore. ever. even if i’m just like “lightly bummed out” -- total stop, total red light, no substance use. this one rule has changed my life entirely and i take it extremely seriously. i have to be happy and feeling good going into it, or i don’t take anything/don’t have any drinks, period. (i tentatively make an exception for this re: using weed to medicate anxiety but i personally still try to keep that a last resort.)
every time you feel like bitching about something you don’t like on social media, make a post abt something else that you like instead. every time u feel like saying something meanspirited or vague or unpleasant abt someone you can’t stand, find a genuine, wholehearted compliment abt someone you really like instead. i’m obviously not saying “never complain ever” but i’m saying only complain when it like.... matters, and take vicious, merciless inventory of when it actually matters bc it u might find that inventory doesn’t line up w your actions generally
related to that: be very cautious abt like, friend groups who bond over shit they hate instead of bonding over shit they like.
talk to yourself a lot. talk to yourself before you say or do things. ask yourself questions about how you’re feeling, why you’re reacting to things the way you do, esp if you’re feeling/acting negatively and feel lost abt Why. cultivate a relationship w yourself in a tangible, daily way so that you can understand your feelings and actions better
find something screenless that you enjoy doing every day. i’m not trying to sound like crotchety specter of Fucking Log Off but i am that and i think the internet is evil and i think it’s making our brains dribble out our ears in liquid form and finding offline things to fill my days up with every day and only coming online when i’m done with those things has probly done more for my growth as a person than anyone else. this place is evil
related to all of this, i guess: everything 21 year old you thought was super boring/would have refused to do if commanded is probably really really good for you and will make you feel better
that’s my advice happy birthday

Hello, I'm a 17 yo Muslim girl living in Ireland. My entire life I've hidden my interests and things I've loved from my parents. I love music, gaming, makeup, art and am generally a big nerd. I want to grow up and become independent and do what I love. But my parents are very against me traveling or living alone. I'm even scared to talk to team mates when I play games bcs they'll say I'm talking with boys (my brother always does tho) if I try to argue they'll threaten to take me back home
It sounds like you’re struggling between your desire to live an independent life and your desire not to disappoint or upset your parents. This is a valid and normal struggle; however, the reality is that in the process of becoming independent, you will almost definitely end up upsetting your parents, even if only temporarily.
There are few important things that are key to building an independent life: financial independence, setting boundaries, and giving yourself permission not to manage your parents’ emotions for them. ((This got long, unsurprisingly, so the rest of this answer is under a cut.))
Financial independence. Money is the easiest thing to hold over you and use as a guilt trip. As long as you are relying on your parents to finance your interests and travel, they will always be able to say, “Our money, our rules,” and you will always feel guilty that you’re using their money on things they disapprove of. If you’re able to start earning your own income, whether through saving up holiday money, picking up a part-time/freelance job, etc., you’ll be in a much better position to pursue the things you enjoy without feeling beholden to your parents. You also take away one of the tools they can use to control you, which makes it easier to set boundaries.
If you can start earning your own income, I would highly recommend keeping it secret from your parents. Granted, I don’t know your parents, and they might be okay with you using your own money on whatever you want. From the way you’ve described them, however, I’m inclined to believe they’ll try to control the money you’ve earned in addition to whatever support they’re giving you. Once you turn 18, set up a bank account and a debit card they don’t know about so you can indulge yourself without worrying about explaining yourself to them. I believe a lot of banks will waive the minimum monthly deposit requirement if you can show you’re a student.
Unfortunately, as with most things surrounding the topic of living your own life, financial independence can be difficult to achieve until you become an adult and have the ability to pursue jobs and education and major life changes. However, please know things will become easier if you hang in there!
Setting boundaries. I’ve found most brown parents are flagrantly disrespectful of their kids’ boundaries, usually because a) they think their kids’ boundaries are rude or stupid (aka don’t make sense to the parents), b) they perceive any sort of attempt to set a boundary as a challenge to their authority, and/or c) they just expect complete and total obedience from their kids because they’re elders and therefore should never be questioned. As a result, a lot of brown kids never learn to set boundaries, because they’re never taught that they can expect their boundaries to be respected.
This doesn’t mean boundaries can’t be set; it just means that the process of doing so takes time and will result in high tensions. In terms of gaining independence, the boundaries you set should ultimately amount to something like: “I am allowed to do things you disapprove of (within reason) without being unduly punished solely for wanting something you do not approve of.” The “within reason” part of this will change, both as you grow older and as you set firmer and firmer boundaries. Right now, since you’re a minor, “within reason” might mean “I am allowed to sleep over at my friend’s house so long as I call you before I go to sleep and when I wake up in the morning.” Over time, “within reason” may expand to mean “I am allowed to travel wherever I want and for however long I want, provided I am not going into debt, I give you my flight details so you know where I am, and I do my due diligence in researching how to be safe.”
In order to set that overarching boundary, you have to set a few smaller boundaries:
I am allowed to do things you disapprove of
I will, on occasion, disappoint you. Your disappointment is not my burden to bear
Your punishments should be reasonable, not a product of being upset that I’ve done something harmless that you don’t like
You are not entitled to knowing every single detail about every single aspect of my life
etc.
One way to set these boundaries is to talk with your parents and tell them you would like more independence, and you know they’re worried about you but you think their worries are stifling your happiness, and you’d like to find ways to address their fears so you can still do things you enjoy. They may be willing to work with you.
However, it’s more like that you’ll have to set these boundaries by asking forgiveness instead of permission, in which case you’ll need to start small and work your way to larger boundaries. The best way I can think of to illustrate what I mean is by sharing my own examples:
I started staying out with my friends for an hour longer than I’d said I would, which set the boundary of “I’ll be home by dinner/bedtime, but I won’t adhere to irrational and senseless curfews.”
I started dyeing my hair and getting tattoos without telling them beforehand, setting the boundary of “I will do things you disapprove of, and that’s okay” as well as “The things I do with my own money are not yours to control.”
Once I had my own car, I started going on road trips without permission, setting the boundary of “I am allowed to travel independently, so long as I am safe and don’t drive more than 6 hours a day.”
Ultimately I started outright telling my parents, “I understand that you are upset, and you can yell and threaten and insult me all you want, but that won’t prevent me from doing this thing I want to do,” setting the boundary of “Your disappointment is not a valid reason for me to deprive myself of the things I enjoy.”
There are two crucial components of setting a boundary: sticking to your guns, and not letting your parents’ emotions change your mind (more on this in a second). In terms of sticking to your guns, you have to set boundaries you are capable of enforcing. For example, if you say “I’m getting coffee with a male friend after school,” and they say “well, we just won’t drive you home,” you have to be able to say “that’s fine, I can hitch a ride/take the bus.” If you have to rely on your parents to drive you home, this isn’t a boundary you can feasibly set or enforce, and you’ll end up giving in, which tells your parents that they can just threaten you to get their way.
In terms of dealing with your parents’ emotions...
Your parents’ emotions are not your responsibility to manage. Your parents will 100% push back against you when you try to set any kind of boundary or challenge their control; it is important that you do not let their threats and shouting guilt you into going back on your words. Their anger and need to control you may stem from fear or worry or good intentions, but it is on them to learn how to cope with their fear in a healthy manner instead of taking it out on you. It is not your job to make them feel better about you doing the things you enjoy; you have enough on your plate already, what with overcoming your own guilt and apprehension in order to push your parents.
Do not try to approach them in good faith, because they will not approach you in good faith. Don’t try to convince them that you’re being rational. Don’t try to get them to see your side. Acknowledge their feelings, and then refuse to engage with them. You have to train them to realize that their knee-jerk reaction of controlling you is no longer effective.
It helps to have some scripts you can follow, and to practice them with yourself or with your friends. For example: “I understand that you’re upset. However, I don’t think it is productive to talk about this until you can speak without shouting. I’m going to my room now. Please let me know when you would like to discuss this issue so we can find a solution we’re both happy with.” And then go to your room. Shut the door. Don’t fight back when your parents inevitably start to insult you. Then push that same boundary a week or two later, and repeat this process until they get the message.
Either they’ll kick you out (which is why I highly highly recommend waiting until you have some sort of independence before setting the most extreme boundaries), or they’ll eventually come to terms with you doing what you enjoy, even if it disappoints them in the process.
In conclusion. It’s a delicate balance between living an independent life and showing your parents that you can still be a good daughter and person even if you don’t see eye-to-eye with them. It will take time, and it will hurt, and you might feel like it’s all hopeless. That’s normal, and you aren’t alone in feeling that way. But I promise it gets easier over time. I promise you’re allowed to lead your own life without being afraid of how your parents will react.
Of course, please take this advice with caution, and don’t challenge your parents indiscriminately if you know they’ll send you away to boarding school or something. I trust you to employ your best judgment, since you know your parents best. I wish you the best of luck! Please let me know if I can offer any other advice or encouragement!

The Batman Effect
I’ve been sitting on this thought for a while and figured I’d finally share it. I’m calling it the ‘Batman Effect’ bcus I’ve noticed it occur most notoriously with Batman - tho it’s present with other characters in varying pieces of media ofc.
‘What is The Batman Effect?’ you may ask. Well, I’ll tell you!
The Batman Effect is when a character is propped up on a sort of pedestal and the characters around them suffer in characterization. Whether it be competence, skill, intelligence, personality, etc. See where I’m going with this (and why I chose B-man)? This is kinda lengthy, so I’m putting it under a cut.
For Example:
Dick Grayson: We know he’s hypercompetent. He made an excellent Batman himself. He’s won numerous fights against extremely difficult enemies. He’s led arguably some of the most - if not the most - teams in the DCU. However, once Batman - Bruce specifically - steps into the picture, his competence drops dramatically.
He’s a mild example.
You ever notice how irritating it can be when Batman or another such popular character enters a title/scene bcus somehow they seem to outdo everyone even when they feasibly shouldn’t?
‘But he’s The Batman!’ you may cry.
Yeah. That’s the point I’m making. He was never this bad. Never a point of such intense flanderization until he reached critical popular success. He’s been a staple for decades, yes. But he was...manageable. Real. That’s the downside of fame. Once a character hits a certain point of fame they lose the ability to, well, lose. They have their faults but those faults are almost never larger than the faults of those around them. They take precedence.
Let’s take it a step further.
Those in association with Batman seem to get a sort of...boost from the writers (depending on the writer) that causes them to give that ‘Batman Effect’ to those around them. Everyone is fine and then a Batfamily member enters the scene and suddenly the power dynamic shifts. It’s centered on That Person. Competence fluctuates unfairly. It drives me absolutely nuts. This works with other non-Bat characters, of course. If That Character™ has others associated with them, then those associates get a sort of unfair boost as well (but never greater than That Character™).
There seems to be a sort of hierarchy too. When multiple Bats are around, it depends on A) Which Bats are present and B) Who the writer is. Damian gets an unfair boost due to being Bruce’s ‘blood son’ - which is just ridiculous (ily Dami). It gets more complicated when it involves other Big Name Heroes (such as Supes, Hal, Flash, etc.) Then you need to take into account which Bat(s) are present and which Big Names are around. If the Bat ‘outranks’ that Big Name (in the eyes of the writer) then BOOM, Batman Effect.
Need a more extreme example?
How about...Selina Kyle. I love here but how in the ever-loving fuck did DC justify her being able to take down multiple running speedsters without a single problem?
Tumblr media
That makes no sense at all. I still get angry just thinking about that tbh. There isn’t a single feasible reason she’d be able to see them and land a hit that they wouldn’t notice and dodge OR get massively injured/killed due to hitting something that’s moving at super speed. She’s tied to Batman and was engaged to him in that comic. Therefore she must be able to do such feats! -sarcasm- The Batman Effect.
Characters get demoted to ‘sidekicks’ to the Bats once they’re on the scene. Example: Jason Todd and Roy Harper. Ever since Outlaws, Roy has been intrinsically tied to Jason and only Jason, reduced to ‘Jason’s bffl’ and ‘Not As Good As Jason’ despite his incredibly rich and complex history, very notable skills, and many ties to other heroes/teams. Koriand’r too. I am not getting into that.
‘But you’re a Dick Grayson/Batfamily stan! You should be happy!’
No. No, I am not. Not in the slightest. I like proper, realistic characterization that doesn’t shit on other characters just bcus someone rocks a Bat-symbol. I have many favorites that aren’t Bats. EVERYONE deserves fair characterization. I can openly admit that Dick Grayson gives off The Batman Effect when around many other characters (never Bruce, tho. Gotta remember he’s tHe BaTmAn™). Just bcus he’s my favorite doesn’t mean I appreciate it. I want him and those around him fairly and accurately portrayed (that’s a rant of a different time).
It’s also most noticeable when it’s someone's main title. I understand that since it’s a character’s title comic it should be in their favor. However, I don’t think it should be unfairly in their favor. The writers have to make it work without pushing characters down low. There’s no reason to degrade or dumb down a character just to make another look good. If you have to do that then you aren’t doing the story or the characters justice. Something isn’t working with what you’re writing.
‘Are there any other examples?’
Ohhhh plenty. The most notable is: Big Name Heroes/Villains vs Legacy/B-list/Lesser-Known Heroes/Villains. If you’re against a fan favorite or pop culture icon then big fuckin RIP to you. Things get weighed in the former's favor bcus they’re The Money Maker. Regardless of the skills/abilities of the other characters, the more popular ‘Money Maker’ usually finds a way to come out on top UNLESS it’s ‘For The Plot’ to lose. They get flanderized in a way that isn’t fair. It doesn’t just make the other characters suffer, it makes them suffer too. I’m actually to the point where I can hardly stomach Bruce being in anything bcus the inevitable downgrade of those around him.
Like stated earlier, there’s a Hierarchy. It's almost like a popularity contest any more or the writer’s personal feelings on the character(s) and not their established characterization :/
‘They’re trying to make money! It’s a job, after all!’
They can make money without destroying their characters. Yes, even the greatest will one day fall bcus people will just get sick of them. Like I said, every character suffers from this.
I can list so many characters who’ve lost good portions of themselves to this phenomenon - whether being the one causing the Batman Effect or the one targeted by it. It’s almost heartbreaking.
This, of course, isn’t just a DC problem. It’s liable to happen in any comic or any piece of media. And, again, this doesn’t always happen but it’s enough of a problem that I almost dread reading certain titles with certain characters for fear of the characterization due to the pair-ups. Sometimes it’s not all bad. Not every writer does this, thankfully. It’s just prevalent enough to be a problem for me. Hence, this post.
So, from now on, when I see shit happen in comics/tv/movies/etc with characters that make no sense other than to make one look better than the others, I’m marking it down as The Batman Effect.

Endgame and this blog
OK SO I’m not gonna give a massive rundown of my thoughts on the movie as a whole (feel free to IM/Discord and chat about it tho!) because honestly we could be here forever the movie’s like 3 hours long. Instead under the cut is a more specific discussion about Thor / my interpretation of him relating to Endgame, what I’ll be doing with him post-Endgame on here and some plot ideas/wishlist things if anyone wants to come do a thing!
Also Imma use bullet points bc they look better.
- Chonky Thor is loved in this household; making his clearly disastrous mental state a cheap joke is not.
- Honestly in terms of arc exploration I dig the concept of his decline because after everything he’s bound to hit breaking point. The way it was handled is what makes me prickly. Infinity War gave us a glimpse of something much more nuanced; Bruce started trying to be sensitive to the situation when they first meet but that’s about it and I wish they’d tried to maintain that sensitivity.
- Also sue me but I refuse to believe that Steven ‘good man with his own baggage’ Rogers; Bruce ‘I got low’ Banner or Tony ‘I completely sympathise with the PTSD’ Stark wouldn’t even have visited New Asgard over the 5-year span??
- My boy needs a shower, a shave and a snuggle. Pls supply.
- LIGHTING! UP! TONY’S! SUIT! YES! Superhero synergy makes me a happy man it was so long overdue.
- HE’S SO PROUD OF STEVE AND SO SOFT FOR HIM PLS LET MY THUNDER LAD LOVE ON ALL STEVES ASAP
- Actually Thor wants to love on all the Avengers stat.
- 2012 Thor jumpstarting Tony by whopping Mjolnir on his chest all the while being all I HAVE NO IDEA IF THIS IS GONNA WORK. Iconic. @Russos this is the sorta inter-team bs we all crave why couldn’t we have had more of this.
- P sure most stuff I’d fix would mean dialogue rewrites and extra screentime for Thor which isn’t all that feasible for the scope of the movie, but knowing the aether’s location in the timeline aside you can take Thor out of EG and he barely influences the narrative whatsoever which is Frustrating.
How this all feeds into canon portrayal on the blog
- I’m gonna keep the framework of events for EG canon to this blog but take a less comedic approach to Thor’s portrayal. That’s really p much it; just running the scenes more sensitively and maybe working in some extra interactions where Thor became too closed off to accept offered help over the 5 years, which began to be worn away once Time Heist was put into action.
- In terms of the ending..I love the GotG but can’t see Thor being content to stay for long without getting itchy. He’s either taking a few months out with them to ‘do something good’* out in the universe before returning to Midgard; looking for Loki or exploring the galaxy for new opportunities.
- That being said give me more Thor development with Peter and less competition. I’d love to see them both talk affectionately about their mothers and really come to understand that they’re both similarly used to disguising insecurities with brashness.
- Thor stays in direct contact with Valkyrie and I will not accept any version of Thor where he would just abandon what remains of his people after all he’s been through. He uses the Bifrost via Stormbreaker to return to Midgard regularly and keep an eye on proceedings, as well as offer Valkyrie advice and support. He hopes war is over but even if he’s given the crown away he’s going to remain Asgard’s protector.
Wishlist-stuff wise this is just like a bunch of ideas/opportunities to kick off ideas for plots. HMU if any of these appeal and we’ll work something out! c:
- The days between the Snap and confronting Thanos.
- Anything immediately post-beheading.
- The construction of New Asgard / inviting team members to the first few nights’ celebrations.
- The 5-year span has a t o n of potential for anything!
- Nightmare/dream scenarios during Thor’s 5 years?? Especially with characters dead/dusted/villains.
- Some wrangled time-travel nonsense
- The final battle! I’m a slut for battle threads so pls feel free
- All the Tony angst
- Post-EG can be anywhere in the galaxy, on Midgard, with the Guardians or other planets!
* Don’t talk to me about that scene it broke me
