[Update: I've changed a decent amount of Joesy's story by now, so, this isn't as accurate as it could be, but I'm gonna leave it up anyways]

[I'm gonna be honest, I've written and re-written several responses to this, all because I have many, many "deets" when it comes to my boy Joesy. But after several deleted paragraphs worth of rambling, I finally decided just to keep it simple lol.]

[Joesy was my first sole survivor, a few years back, and now as I've picked the game up again for a survival playthrough, he's still my main guy. He's got quite the extensive backstory leading up to that fateful day when the bombs dropped. But I'll hold back on rambling about that for now.]

-He's one of those guys that fits into the category of "Gentle Giant" I suppose. With him being around 6.3 and broad shouldered, but soft-spoken and squishy. Once you get past his occasionally intimidating appearance, (what with wasteland-gear and all generally giving off intimidating vibes), you'll find him to be a bit of a push-over, but a competent push-over.-

-In some strange way, the wasteland softened him more than it hardened. Life before the bombs had been full of heartbreak and pain for Joesy. And so, when he came to terms with the world around him, he realized he had wasted his chances to show the people he cared about just how much he loved them. He vowed to never let that happen again, no matter the outcome, just in case.-

-Forever a curious soul, and having been an engineer pre-war, Joesy fits the given title of "'Scavver" pretty well. Constantly picking his way though buildings and tinkering, content to explore the world he once knew much differently, and rebuild what he can. Anything mechanical has a soft-spot in his heart. From just getting a lightbulb to work again, or building a whole newly built robot, he finds great joy in building things and seeing them work.-

-Never really having served on the front-lines, firefights were an intimidating learning curve for him. And with a bad shoulder and shaky hands, he couldn't easily go the "distanced" route of handling fights. Figuring that, dangerous or not, most people could be talked to, he fell back on talking his way through situations, or distracting his opponents long enough he could flee. This didn't always work, of course, and he's got the scars to show for it.-

-The Minutemen are very dear to him. He feels he owes the Minutemen for giving him hope, and for showing him that while so many things had changed, people were still just people, and were worth fighting for. If it wasn't for Preston carefully explaining many aspects of the world, Joesy wouldn't have likely made it at all, and he keeps that fact very close to him, and thanks his dear friend every time he can. When offered the job of being general, he hesitated, unsure if he was a good fit in comparisons to what he associated with "generals". But eventually he accepted, once he had pushed the thought of old-world generals aside, and decided to make sure the title meant he actually served the people. He tries his best to visit every settlement and meet as many people's needs as he can.-

-The Railroad is also very dear to Joesy. Their cause immediately won his heart once he heard the whole of it, and while he sometimes wonders if there were better ways of handling some of their issues, he never loses faith in them and tries to be around to help whenever he can. While not always the best at "heavy" work, he almost goes over-the-top when it comes to offering supplies, making sure they have anything they could need. The mattresses in HQ gave him "parasites" once, he demanded to replace them for the sake of everyone who slept on them, and got Deacon to back him up, albeit, reluctantly.-

-He's got a terrible immune system. It had come in the form of bad seasonal allergies pre-war, but once he'd been thrown into the wasteland, he was constantly getting sick. He had a terrible head-cold in the stand-off with Kellogg. Nick had tried to convince him to rest beforehand, but Joesy was determined and filled with such a heartbreak over Shaun that it didn't register to him till after the fight. He was bedridden for a week or so, from both the injuries he'd sustained and the cold. He began wearing a mask with filters until he slowly acclimated over time.-

-Very affectionate, like, terribly so. He's very respectful of boundaries, since he knows how bad it can be to have them disrespected. But he will find as many work-arounds as he can to express affection. It can get annoying at times, the constant checking-in, gift-giving, touch (if ok'd), and hovering, but he means well.-

-Very practically smart, but not super intelligent. Like, he's down to earth, practical, and almost plain at times. Joesy's good at picking up on certain cues, and can read a room pretty well, a good situational intelligence. But big scheme concepts, or complex issues, he struggles with. Joesy reflects on that with building robots a lot, he can build them, and feels he does that pretty well, but he falls short on programming them, and often has someone else do it. Hacking is not his strong suit.-

-An almost painfully "old romantic" kinda person. 100% the type to actually swoon. And will pull the utmost cheesiest stunts to show romantic love. Likes to carry the person of his affection around, or "show them off" in a way. Big on PDA, as long as his partner is okay with it. Struggles to make sure his own needs are met though when he's focused on someone else, both platonically or romantically. Needs reminding to eat or relax himself sometimes.-

-When it comes to children, Joesy has slight "baby-fever". He loves children, and often wishes the circumstances that allowed him Shaun had been much happier, (A bad marriage). Unintentionally, he lets children walk all over him by struggling to say "No".-

-He loves animals, but is very nervous around them. Had a service dog for a short while before he got married. "Lola" was his best friend and helped him a lot. He misses her greatly, and sees a lot of her in Dogmeat.-

-Due to his somewhat plain or gentle nature to those that know him, when he gets angry or outwardly cold, it's unnerving. Like something is just, inherently wrong. It's upsetting to see, and it makes people uncomfortable. It makes Joesy uncomfortable too when he's aware of it.-

I think that at first he wouldn't have noticed that you didn't buy your things with his money. But then you go shopping again and his bills stay the same... I think he'd catch up at the second or third time.
