kitty litter box cabinet
so a few days ago I was talking about jigsaws and cutting holes out of particle board and so here’s the project I was working on:
Tumblr media
it’s a holder for Pixel’s litter box along with some shelving at the top to carry extra litter, the garbage for cleaning her litter, and the green boxes hold her toys
here a pics of the front and side with everything closed:

I originally had a different trim around the entry and between the shelves but I saw this tape yesterday and couldn’t resist changing the decoration. In case the detail isn’t clear enough:

this tape is not as sticky as the washi tape I had on there previously so I may put a layer of clear tape on top because this cat tape has probably equal or less stickiness as post its.
there’s still some work to be done here as the bottom mats overlap (was way too lazy to cut to size as I did the top because the overlap doesn’t matter as much here) and I kind of want to have a pull out shelf for whenever I clean the litter box but that might be my dreams talking.
why did I do this? because I was tired of Pixel tracking her litter all around the main floor. In addition, since the box was by my desk, she’d hop on top of the box after and then directly onto my desk, bypassing the mats entirely and leaving white paw prints because of course some litter dust stuck to her paws
I also didn’t have a good place for her toys as I was keeping them in the pantry of all places (to be fair my pantry is way over-sized and I cannot hope to fill it but still I didn’t need to put the toys and extra litter there)
I’ll follow this up later with a very brief explanation of materials and some of the steps I took (though most of it is fairly what you see is what you get) because I went on a journey with that hole cutting and the pictures prove why that trim is not just a nice finishing and is instead necessary to hide my sins
