All I'm saying is that Barbie going from believing that everything is perfect and Barbie being able to be anything means that every little girl is now also absolutely able to, to realizing how the world really is and discovering what it means to be a woman in a patriarchal society? Her coming to accept that change is an inevitable part of life, and looking at the pain and existentialism of humanity yet still accepting it and wanting to be a part of it? It feels a lot like growing up. Like feeling as though you really can do anything and your life will be perfect when you're a kid, only to realize as you grow older how difficult living in the world will be for you. Like first feeling the weight of the patriarchy coming down on you as you come to understand more about the world and that overwhelming realization. Like learning how unpredictable life is and how complicated the world is and coping with what that means for the idea of your future that you always had in your head. And the idea you have of your future changes in ways you maybe never would have expected as a result.
