(Almost Solid) Proof That Dan Ran PhilsLion

I'm convinced that Dan was the person who ran the PhilsLion twit and I have receipts. For anyone who doesn't know, PhilsLion is a twitter account that tweeted from the POV of Lion. It's commonly thought that this account was run by Phil. Besides the fact that he would interact with the account, there are multiple tweets that seem to be about him and dan. Unfortunately there's good reason to believe it wasn't Phil running it. HOWEVER there are many reasons that lead me to believe it was Dan who was tweeting from it, some of which is evidence based and some of which makes logical sense.

DISCLAIMER: All tweets I've included that are ostensibly about dan and phil's relationship are in reference to things that are confirmed by d&p themselves (e.g. the fact that d&p were romantically involved when they first met). I will not discuss anything that is not supposed to be public knowledge.

First let's look at when the Twitter was created. (Note: I am in UTC-8 so all screenshots will be in that time zone. I will say what time it would've been in UTC+0 (d&p's time zone) for clarity.)

Dan’s twitter account was created in May 2009. The first tweet from him (assuming he did not delete any older ones) was May 15 at 1:18pm. Presumably this is the day he got twitter.

On May 16 2009 at 3:19am Phil tweeted that he uploaded “I was kidnapped.”

In this video he mentions his own personal twitter account, and there is an annotation of Lion saying “i want a twitter” (20sec into the video)

About 3 hours after the video was posted (6:26am UTC+0), we get the first tweet from PhilsLion (presumably this was right after the account was created)

May 16th 2009 was a Saturday. We know from Dan’s video “THE POWER NAP” that he worked at ASDA on Saturdays and Sundays from 5am-10am. So he would’ve been awake shortly after Phil posted the video. Also note that Dan presumably had an iPhone at the time (he tweeted something about iPhones in June 2009 and had no previous tweets before that about getting a new phone). He specifically tweeted in Sep 2009 about tweeting from his iPhone. Based on the fact that Dan literally showed up to work drunk and took a nap, I don’t think he is above going on twitter at work.

While this is not proof that Dan created the account, we can see that it’s definitely possible for him to have created the account. We know he would’ve been awake at the time the account was created, and it was approx. a day after he created his own twitter account, so making a twitter account would've been fresh in his mind.

We do have proof that Phil did not create the account. First, he edited the description of “I was kidnapped.” to say that someone [else] created PhilsLion:

He also tweeted May 16th (10:35am UTC+0 if that matters to anyone) basically saying the same thing as the video desc, implying that someone else made the account:

Finally in “AmazingJason” (posted May 26th) he mentions, again, “someone [else]” creating the Twitter account (about 20seconds in, the timestamp is linked). He encourages everyone to follow it and links it in the description of the video:

So unless Phil was really pushing that someone else created it even though he himself made it, it wasn’t him.

If you want to skip to Proof™ scroll down to the next photo of Phil. Before that, I’d like to debunk the 11:11/different time zone thing–I think this is the biggest reason people have claimed that the account was not run by Phil or Dan but rather some other random fan. On May 30th at 4:12pm UTC+0 and June 3rd at 4:19am UTC+0, PhilsLion tweeted about making wishes at 11:11. In order for these tweets to be made at ~11:11 local time, they would need to have been made in either UTC-5 or UTC+7. UTC-5 is US Eastern Time. UTC+7 is a time zone mainly consisting of Southeast Asia. This includes parts of Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. I have an explanation for this, which is certainly the biggest reach of this whole thing, but it is a plausible explanation :p

It’s very possible that it was Dan who tweeted this if he was on vacation with his family at the time. We know Dan and his family have vacationed in Asia many times (at the very least they went to Thailand in 2006, India in 2010 and 2013, and Sri Lanka in 2016). So while there’s no proof (that I know of) that Dan was on vacation at this time, it’s certainly possible that he was. The location of the tweets would fit with where we know his family likes to go on holiday. Additionally, the second tweet talks about water skiing, which tends to be a fun vacation thing rather than something people do regularly (note this tweet would be at 11:19am in UTC+7)

There’s further proof that PhilsLion was not always in UTC+7. On Christmas 2009, PhilsLion tweeted “goodmorning” at 6:21am UTC+0. This would be 1:21pm in UTC+7. It makes a lot more sense for this to have been tweeted in England.

Then fast forward to January 8th 2011. PhilsLion tweets “I was up all night” at 8:05am UTC+0. This would be 3pm in UTC+7. So again, it seems that PhilsLion was not in UTC+7 at this time.

Okay, now onto much more solid evidence. First, the handwriting of PhilsLion. This is the most tangible piece of proof. On June 25th 2009 Phil posted “AmazingAlex,” where Lion can be seen behind him in one of Phil’s shoes:

Lion tweeted a photo the next day, saying “I’m on a boat :)” in reference to being in Phil’s shoe

Note that the drawing/writing does not appear in the video and therefore was done by whoever runs PhilsLion. Here is some of Dan’s writing (found in TABINOF) for comparison:

This is from the “how to draw cat whiskers” page. Notice how the As all have the crossbar quite high up, just like in the twitter picture. Additionally, the top loops in the Bs are all very skinny compared to the bottom loop. Here’s another one of Dan’s capital Bs from the blindfolded portrait page, which is similar to Lion's writing:

I’m not a handwriting analysis expert, and yes it’s different drawing on MSPaint vs. a piece of paper, but the handwriting certainly has similarities.

And now, the more circumstantial evidence, but things that seem (imo) to be too big of a coincidence to not have been written by Dan (FYI these are going to be added in order of how much of a reach they are, not chronological order, lol). First we have “I month you”:

This tweet is proposing an alternate word for “love” and ends with “I month you” (i.e. is replacing the word love with month), and was tweeted on November 19th 2009. AKA exactly a month after dan and phil met IRL for the first time.

Another one that seems very related to Dan and what we know of his situation is this tweet about “Lion’s” dad:

In Dan’s own words in BIG: “I didn’t think I could ask my family for help or share my feelings about this, mainly due to my dad. Funny guy, kind of a woke hippie who did and said a lot of things I did respect but at the same time used to walk around the house saying how he hoped someone he had a problem with at work would 'die of bum cancer.' Yep, so picked the one area to be a bigot that would further traumatize your child. Nice! This experience coming from a childhood hearing the word gay meaninglessly thrown around as an insult at home[.]”

Note that Dan was still living at home at the time, so if this tweet was made by him, it wouldn't have meant literally “getting away.” Also, Dan was at home when this was tweeted but it was 3 days before he was going to see Phil.

Next there’s this tweet:

The “admirers” thing could be referring to anything really, but was tweeted during the time that Dan (and Phil) were in the Clipstar video contest. Also, Dan posted this dailybooth two days before this tweet, and most of the comments are just gassing him up, so lol (the pic doesn’t load but based on the comments I think it was a screenshot from his clipstar vid).

Many things to note here. The song linked is called “When I See You Again.” It’s by Dave Bullas (one of the founders of SiTC), whom d&p were/are friends with. (They had other friends who were friends with him as well. PJ has the top comment on the video.) The lyrics of the song are not really happy as they insinuate a breakup. But it’s interesting to think about them in the context of wanting to see someone who you are not able to. This tweet was 3/4 days after the “I wonder how biology…” tweet and 3 days before Dan went to see Phil.

Also, Dan just LOVES recommending music to people. He does it a lot.

Now a tweet exchange which doesn't technically prove anything, but I thought was curious. Phil tweeted December 29 2010 about getting a new camera:

Lion tweeted in reference to this 20 minutes later:

I find this interesting because Phil made no comment anywhere about manuals or ignoring them. So it could just be PhilsLion making schput, but a lot of the other Lion tweets are in direct reference to something Phil said/did. It would make sense if Dan ran the twitter acc and he was talking about something that he witnessed Phil do that we don’t know about. Also note “my new camera is here” vs. “phil picked up his new camera” (Lion giving more specific detail than Phil in terms of the manner in which he obtained the camera).

Some Tweets (1, 2, 3) which aren’t proof of anything but just sound like things Dan would say:

For context, this is about floods that happened in Queensland. Again, I have no way to prove Dan said this. But if you’ve ever read, like, anything Dan has said in a print interview ever or watched any of his liveshows, you know that he often tries to say stuff with superfluous/pretentious language and then ends up not making a whole lot of sense. Things that he’s said have been misconstrued so many times, or just outright don’t make sense to anyone but him. So this series of tweets checks out, if it is Dan who ran the account.

The photo is a screenshot from “AmazingJason”:

Note that two weeks later (October 23) in “Life without the internet!?” Phil says the internet led to him “meeting the best friend of [his] life.” The comments all assume he is referencing Dan, but in the video he holds up Lion, so presumably that’s actually who he’s talking about. That is, unless Lion represents Dan :p

Lastly, this tweet which is a Fall Out Boy lyric, but again would be cute if it was Dan:

There's a few more tweets that are interesting to think about being from Dan but don't actually prove anything so I won't put them here lol.

So, at the end of the day, could it be some random fan* who made the twitter account? Yes. But in my opinion there isn’t really anything proving it’s not Dan. On top of that, there are enough things that fit with what we know factually about d&p now, but were not well known at the time, that make it seem much more likely that Dan ran this account vs. a random person.

*technically when the account was started, Dan himself was a random fan. So there’s that too ;)

Jimin really said I'm sick of all the fanservice stuff and toned it down all the way down and Jkkrs haven't caught on. It's annoying like earlier Jkkrs weren't saying everything was real and accepted that 2015 Jkk was some weird Kpop narrative pushed by BH but now everything we see is just the way it is and there's no skepticism. Glad Jimin said he didn't want anymore of this BS. Wish Taehyung had stuck to what he said in 2019 too.

Jimin's personality has changed quite a bit, that much is obvious. He has said so himself, too. The truth is that we could be here all day speculating how and why and when and where and who and it would be useless because we see so little of their lives, but I think it is universally acknowledged that he has changed. He doesn't come across as impetuous or so extroverted, he's more calm and settled in his own skin and all that. He said he used to be really emotionally unstable.

I genuinely believe that him "toning it down" just has to do with all the general changes in his personality and is not especifically related to Jungkook or because he has decided to stop doing fanservice or because he doesn't like the members anymore.

I've talked about it when it happened and I still think the same I thought that day; that he and Jin probably just don't have the kind of relationship where Jin would reach out and touch his face or move his hair out of the way, so he reacted instinctively to Jin's ooc behavior and joked about it being forced or unnatural, something not regular in their real life, off stage relationship.

Jimin literally used to call out JK on camera for being nice to him or listening to him only for the cameras lmao. I think that was something similar. At the Busan concert too yoongi said "I believe Jimin's birthday is the most important day" and Jimin intermediately laughed and said "hyung, don't lie". He really calls them out often. It doesn't mean that everything is fake or that Jin wouldn't take care of him if it really came down to it, just that maybe certain types of attention aren't quite common coming from Jin (like what he did at the concert).

I mean, I have to agree with the people around him 😝 because from the very beginning he was the easiest to understand for me, too. His words and actions don't really contradict each other, or at least not as much as it would take for me to be confused about who he is.

I don't recall what's the English translation and Instagram for me translates it to Spanish but his caption says something about Instagram being too "staged", like you need to put effort for the photos and I thought it was interesting because he used the exact same word Jimin used when he said that at the concert: 작위적 -you can see it there in the caption.

It became even more obvious what Jimin probably thinks of Instagram.

If you're implying that his entire perceived friendship with Jungkook is fanservice, then I just don't agree. I agree that some moments were mayyyyybe used as fanservice, and that faking flirty or cute moments is easy, anyone can do that and I'm okay with accepting that maybe they amped up *SOME* of those moments for entertainment purposes, but they were still real friends even through all of that. Besides, Jimin has been "toning it down" since 2021, long before he even said that fanservice stuff, so I do think it's just general changes in who he is. Maybe it was a conscious decision of how his actions might come across on camera and he didn't want his actions to be misinterpreted, maybe the nature of his relationship with Jungkook changed, maybe he doesn't have reasons to be as affectionate anymore, maybe it's all just him growing up and not being so playful anymore for no reason at all.

i tried to make my fictional kpop company’s head quarters on the sims 4 and this is what happened.

i got this idea from @ephemera-sm who posted a text post about how it would be interesting to see a floor plan of oc dorms, companies, etc. I thought that was an amazing idea so i decided to make my company on the sims!

some notes before we start:

the sims only allows 4 floors to be built. obviously a real company has multiple floors and multiple different levels. some of the layouts that i created i see as being a ‘repeat’ floor (so like... multiple floors may have the exact same layout)

i am really really really ungifted when it comes to sims4 building. please don’t judge me too hard. i don’t have cc furniture either. i was working on limited skill and resources. i’m insecure about posting this lmao please be nice.

if you even read through this whole thing.... i’m open to answering any questions about HBH or the building or staff or whatever! questions help me world build and I really need to work on world building.

Alright. Let’s start with the ground floor.

Ah, the main lobby. Where visitors and artists alike enter the wondrous building and are greeted by the equally-wondrous, piece of ancient history secretary, Mrs Son Youngja. Right next to the entrance (that you can only get through if you either have an ID or buzz in), are three large display cases. Inside these cases are all the awards that HBH artists have won over the years. Yes, this is a flex on any newcomers that have never been to HBH’s headquarters. No, it’s not subtle in the slightest.

If you’re a trainee, employee, or artist, you have to show Youngja your HBH Entertainment ID before heading to the elevators. Anyone who doesn’t have their ID has to wait in the lobby, but they will be asked to leave by security if they loiter for more than ten minutes. You do not want to mess with security.

In order to access the rest of the building, you will need your HBH Entertainment ID to open the elevators. Depending on your position at the company, your ID may only get you into specific locations. For example, a corporate intern will only have access to the corporate floor.

I always pictured HBH to have a wall full of ivy or plants or maybe even running water behind the front desk. I feel like Hak Bonghwa would want that just to like ‘bring calmness’ or something. The sims 4 ivy wall looks fugly but please just envision a cool looking plant wall.

In my Sims 4 world, I called it ‘The Big Practice Room’. At HBH, there are actually at least 2 of these types of floors, stacked one on top of the other.

So there are two floors that look like this! The first one is on floor 1, and they call it Practice Room A. The second one is on floor 2, and they call it Practice Room B.

These larger practice rooms are mostly reserved for debuted idols to practice their choreography. Large groups like Triptych need big practice rooms like this so all their members can work together.

Trainees rarely use these practice rooms unless they are given permission from their instructors to book them. They are sort of a rite of passage to be able to use the larger practice rooms after you debut.

I showed a picture of some random posters next to the ‘sound system’ in the second picture because in my head these practice rooms just have a ton of vice/promise/triptych memes printed out and pasted onto the walls near the back of the rooms.

Part of being an HBH artist is coming in at five in the morning to see a new meme of yourself right next to the aux cord. Good morning, Seoul.

As you can see, there are two locker rooms up here. Most of the idols just dump their stuff against the wall in the practice room, but sometimes people actually use the lockers that HBH paid for.

There’s also three showers and if I could find space for it there would have also been bathroom stalls but.... hehe i made everything too small and was too lazy to rescale. There should be three toilet stalls in each locker room, just use your imagination.

In the Sims 4, Trainee Town is one floor. At HBH, it’s more like two. So imagine this floor, but another identical floor on top of it.

They call it ‘Trainee Town’ because these two floors are only used by trainees.

Well, not all the time, but you will rarely see a debuted idol in a practice room up here or walking around unless they are hosting a class or dropping by to give tips.

Trainee Town has four practice rooms, all which are significantly smaller than the larger practice rooms that we saw earlier. This is because when they are training, they are broken down into smaller groups and taught by instructors. They also are broken down into smaller performance groups when it comes to busking and showcases, so they never really need a large place to practice.

Actually, the kids will practice anywhere. The space between the two elevators has been used as a practice room multiple times.

Right when they get off the elevators, there are bulletin boards that not only have the schedules for their training and showcases, but also sometimes they’ll leave messages to each other on them. It’s cute.

You might have noticed that the locker rooms don’t have showers. That’s because I ran out of space again. There is supposed to be showers and toilets. I just don’t know how to be an architect.

There’s at least three floors of corporate, but only one has Hak Bonghwa’s office. (The floor above his has an office very similar to his. That office belongs to Heo Seongja.)

They all generally have this same layout. Open seating, no cubical, only a half-wall to separate desks.

HBH’s unofficial-official color is a greyish blue so I tried to keep the color theme going in this specific floor because this is like... where the Business Happens.

I couldn’t make it but there is a specific floor in HBH that is dedicated to just conference rooms. All the top floors of HBH are for business offices and stuff, but the conference floor is the second-to-top floor. The only floor above that one is the food court, which overlooks the city.

I totally forgot to add the food court, but imagine like... a college dining hall. It’s like that but with healthy food and tables with benches.

Anyways! Hak Bonghwa’s office is in a glass box so he can see all his workers. He doesn’t do this to be controlling or whatever, he wants to make it feel like they’re all in this together.

His desk always has photos of his family on it.

He has a small conference section of his office with a cat vase. In my head, there was no cat vase. Now that I saw this one from the Sims, there is now canonically a cat vase in Hak Bonghwa’s office.

The tea is: a good chunk of HBH workers hate this office layout because there’s no privacy and you can always see what other people are up to and it’s distracting.

The last level I created were The Dungeons.

The Dungeons got it’s nickname for two reasons. One, the other half of the basement (which isn’t shown because I got too tired to finish it) used to be the old trainee rooms when Vice were training.

The second is because of the obsurd amount of time you spend down here when you’re working on a new album.

Most of HBH artists are self-producing so the members will spend a good chunk of their time down in one of the studios to record their comebacks.

There are three recording studios. The Green Studio, the Red Studio, and the Blue Studio. They all get their names from the carpets that are laid on the floor.

The Blue Room is used the most frequently for production lessons for trainees.

Across the hall, you may have noticed two other rooms. One of these rooms “belongs” to Cyth from Vice. The other belongs to Rushi and Haeun, two long-time trainees.

Cyth gets a room because he produces not only for Vice but he also has had a helping hand in almost every HBH artist comeback since Triptych debuted. He’s earned his own work space to say the least.

Rushi and Haeun have one for similar reasons. They have both been trainees for nearly six years now. A part of their training was that they got to produce, compose, and write for other HBH idols. They have helped Promise create their whole “Dancer” album as well as a few early Triptych tracks. Even though they are just trainees, they are very valuable members to the HBH gang.

To explain the “random space” part!

I’ve thought it through and I’ve decided that I will probably be putting several ‘empty’ rooms down there for a variety of things like rap practice, vocal practice, lyric writing practice, etc. Just more practice space for idols and trainees.

new music i’m looking forward to/hoping for

i started listening to pup at the beginning of 2018 because i keep seeing their stuff on ig. i really liked this like idk punk rock i guess type of music last year but i felt like every artist i found was bland. when i found this guys i was so fucking happy because they aren’t bland or boring like AT ALL. ngl i almost cried the first time i listened dream is over because it’s so mfing good lmao. so i’m like pretty sure that there was an ig post that teased a new album that was posted like not that long ago and then a post that actually confirmed album 3 so yeah. i mean their last album came out in 2016 so it’s not that unlikely that there will be new music from them this year and if there is then my soul will leave my mfing body.

Of Monsters and Men

i started listening to omam around the time that their last album came out so it’s been like 4 years and we still aint got nothin. this is one of my favorite bands ever and im pretty sure it’s impossible for me to be disappointed by anything they put out and it seems like they’ve been working hard on this new album so i’m effing hyped. they have been talking about “album 3″ for literally over a year (maybe even 2 idk) and i really think that this is the year man because a lot of their ig stories are like in the studio and their other 2 albums are 4 years apart so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

LSD

so like i know they released a couple of songs last year so like idk if they’ll make anything new this year but i neED AN ALBUM OH MYYY GOD. sia is one of my favorite artists and she could make like any genre/kind of song and i would still blast tf out of it lmao. and i mean i don’t only like lsd because of her like diplo and labrinth are hella talented and have some bops too. anyways literally when they would release a new song i’d kind of be worried that it wouldn’t be as good as the last but no? they got better???? like these three together i just can’t omfg.

Paramore

holy shit i actually can’t describe how much i love paramore. like i just love how they don’t limit themselves to one specific genre like some artists are just so bland and never experiment but these guys are like the exact opposite. and i know that after laughter took awhile to make so idk if their next album (if they make one because i mean they almost disbanded before after laughter yikes) will take awhile or no. but i really hope that they at least put out something this year :).

i just started listening to ajr last year and like i kind of heard bad things about their most recent album so i was sort of hesitant but ohhhhhhhh my god that is false sweetie. i decided to listen to it because i was like “wth it can’t be that bad” and it is now one of my most favorite albums ever ngl. just recently they starting posting some not-so-cryptic cryptic shit (lmao) on ig and like i really hope they’re planning on releasing new music this year.

another group that i just started listening to last year. i kept like seeing them all over the internet but just didn’t listen to them for some reason. then i heard this girl in my math class last year mention them and we have a similar taste in music so i decided to start listening to them. i stg i listened to only their music for like 2 months because damnnnnn like they’re so good wthhhhh. their last album came out in 2017 so i think this is it chief. like ajr they started posting some cryptic shit and everyone is like shook lmao. idk man but i really hope they do something this year.

and here we have yet ANOTHER group that i just started listening to last year. i had heard some of their songs before but i actually like got into their music during early 2018. if i’m not mistaken their next album will be their last which makes me hella sad. i know that like a lot of people don’t really like their music and i mean i can’t blame them it is lowkeyyy weird lmao but i’ve never really given a fuck about “the public’s opinion” when it comes to music. idk if their final album will come out this year or no but idc because since it’s a final album i expect them to put more effort into so it might take longer but who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

so like i’m not like a huge fan of coldplay (not saying i don’t like them just saying that i don’t like them as much as some of the previous groups i’ve mentioned) but they’ve got some bops ngl. i say i’m not a huge fan because honestly i haven’t listened to that much of their music. parachutes is literally one of my favorite albums of all time (definitely in my top 10) and ik that their music isnt really like that anymore but their new music is pretty good too. like a few days ago i realized that a head full of dreams came out in 2015 so like it’s time for some new music lmao. i really like the vibe that their music has and i hope whatever they put out next has that same vibe.

so i have been listening to these guys since like 2016 and i just love their aesthetic it’s just like kind of wholesome in a way ?? idk but their last album was so mfing good like there’s just some awesome instrumentals and like powerful vocals i can’t man like it’s just so good. it’s been like 3 years (???) since it came out and i need new music ohhhhh myyy god. i know that neyla left which is like a big sad but i mean it’s all good. they made some songs this year but i need an album lmao. i really hope that they’re working on some stuff because that’d be hella cool :))))).

uuugghh I’m sorry if I missed you, there’s a chance your comment didn’t show up in my feed because tumblr has been doing that a LOT lately. Also it might be very old, because I’m really not sure what replies I’ve done lately and I’m too lazy to go back and look u_u

I upped my q to 3 posts a day because, I uh, hit my queue limit and I still have lots that needs to go in it SO you’re going to get at least one more post per day. I may put it up to 4 because I don’t want to be stuck at the library for 4 hours one day queuing all these screens D: It’s mostly Witch Hazel in the next few weeks of queue but I try to bump bear posts up when I have a moment. They’re very silly :>
