Nothing like getting back to drawing by trying to learn how to draw mers because you keep reading fics about mers and theirs a really long one that my brain needs moments from cus it's really good but just slow enough that it makes my brain hurt sometimes and I really wanna draw the fella...

I highly recommend reading it if you're interested. I really love the authors works, I think they do so well with the characters and word building!

Sleuth Jesters and the criptid AU have both almost made me cry (not almost, I did, in fact sod). They make me happy and sad, and I really enjoy the spin-offs they do.

While fiction, the characters are still relatable.

The characters grow, even if they aren't the best people (so to say) they can still grow to be better...

It suck when you have to put the dog down.

Random, but on the topic of fantasy and food, one set of fantasy stories that I specifically remember made me very hungry was the Silver John stories by Manly Wade Wellman (what a name). They're a series of stories and novels about a ex-Korean vet with a silver-stringed guitar wandering around the post-WWII Appalachian mountains and facing down folklore/supernatural foes, and I don't even really like pork, but I remember reading some of the food descriptions in those stories and get really damn hungry. There was, for example, one very loving description of the main character making corn pone on a hot rock over his campfire, and I was like, yes, yes, magic music and devils, sure, but can I have some of your food?

Which ... might be a bad thing, when I think about it, in that I was too focused on my stomach to focus on the plot, but the stories sure made a very vivid description of setting and place and food. That I really, really wanted to try. Heh.

It's hard to explain exactly what Wylan sees when he looks at Jin. A little bit of himself? A little bit of what he could've been? And then there's a sort of... older brother feeling he gets around the other agent.

Sure, almost none of this sentiment is reciprocated (and neither of them completely trust the other outside high-risk situations) but that won't stop Wylan from inviting Jin on zany adventures.
