Keep seeing that post where OP starts like 'Thinking about...grieving the undead' and then adds on about like. Real life situations where people have not died but have left your life and you would have reason to grieve them.

All respect, that's an important concept, but that is not what I am thinking about when I read 'grieving the undead'.

That's Right #lackadaisy #WHICH i have been reading since at least '07 when i was thirteen my god b/c this animation is based on the ongoing webcomic #like does its influence show up Directly in some Discrete way i can point to in my art? not very easily probably. And Yet.#the inspiration....i wasn't able to be Regularly Only for at least another year / art done Nonprofessionally Online was novel to me #like wow ppl can make & post fanart of w/e they love huh....didn't know webcomics were a thing & i never really read that many since but.#good god the quality of Lackadaisy at its onset is like this is superb?? this person putting in all their talent and effort???#and Then you get years & years more art and i don't even know what superlatives to throw out abt its quality as it evolves. obsessed w/it..#if i see a new lackadaisy comic page i Will be acting out. obviously this animation is a delight & also stunning. and fascinating to also #juxtapose as a Translation / Interpretation of the comic in a different medium & standalone snippet of Story #and that we're not even quite there in the comic timeline; Taking Notes abt character info we get distilledly here....genuinely love like #take it back to '07 i'm like oh boy can't wait for the dream team to assemble. then a decade later when it did? Danny, now an adult, has just moved to the city of Gotham. Actually he’s been an adult for a while, but every once in a while he has to end his life, at least legally, lest someone get suspicious. Usually whenever Dan or Ellie does an oopsie and pulls a firebird with being reborn through their core.

So legally, one Danyal Nightingale, has just moved to Gotham to open a bakery (Thank you for the wonderful recipes and bonding Clockwork) while taking care of his practically newborn son Jordan. Of course Elnath- Ellie- had to pull a core retreat too, which is just his luck.

It wouldn’t be a problem, but he’s trying to not be so broody. A ghost- even a half-ghost- carrying another core though, has instincts turned up to like, eleven. Which again, wouldn’t be much of a problem if not for someone falling into his dumpster late at night bleeding. A vigilante, which he’s sworn to stay away from that life years ago. And it’s not a lethal wound…

But his instincts are screaming to not let the person bleed all around his nest, and he knows from experience that it would continue to bother him. Which is how he ends up with Batman on his couch to Dan’s glee if the ghost chirps are to go by.

oh. kirishima is that guy that tries to go on date after date after date and it just. never works out.

so genuinely into it, even has butterflies ! but he's at home getting ready and buttoning up his shirt and he takes a last look in the mirror and — he just wishes it was with you.

his date that night is so great and lovely and funny, but there are little moments when he looks at their face and feels a deep ache in his heart because he shouldn't want for someone else while a wonderful individual is sitting right there in front of him. but he does. thinks about what you would order to eat, to drink, if you would let him hold your hand on the way back to the train station, if you'd let him kiss you goodnight. just a small one, even.

and it doesn't help when he returns to work the following monday, just for you to gently knock on his office door, all bright-eyed and curious.

"so...how did it go? are we hearing wedding bells yet?"

his date was great. 10/10. he laughed and he joked and he blushed at their flirting and even texted them afterwards to make sure they got home alright. just as he's done with all the previous ones.

"nah," kirishima rubs the back of his neck and smiles lamely. hopes you read his disappointment as how the date didn't go and not over who it wasn't with. "plenty of fish in the sea, right?"

"aw, kiri, you'll find someone that's great for you soon, i know it!" you frown at him and he feels the back of his eyes sting, his chest grow heavy with all the things he wish he could say to you.

"yeah, no, you're right!"

but he just can't.

Sometimes I forget that there are casual Back to the Future fans. People who just watch it to have a fun time and who don't care about or notice the depth the films have. Like. I forget that Tumblr BTTF fans are a whole different breed.

I occasionally find BTTF posts on other social medias (mainly reddit) that leave me scratching my head. Saw a comment where someone made note of Marty being "just some kid Doc probably hired that week to be his cameraman at the mall." Another one where a person answered a question with something along the lines of, "Doc likely only knows Marty because he needed someone to test out the giant amp."

Just. So many people confused as to why Doc and Marty seem to care so much about each other when they've probably only known each other a short while, and isn't Marty just some random assistant??

There are really people watching these movies who think there is no history between Doc and Marty. They think they're practically strangers in the Twin Pines Mall scene and only grow to be friends over the week in 1955. There are people who look at the lengths Marty goes to to save Doc and ask, "But why does he care so much about some crazy old scientist??"
