i never really liked home alone too much. but the soundtrack unlocks something
#somewhere in my memory specifically#both the choir and the instrumental version#and john williams carol of the bells#and mom returns/finale#i love the soundtracks to films#i love learning about the composers and the overall arrangement#i can differentiate a lot of composers now. it’s like an artists brushstroke or a signature#once your ear picks it up you can literally hear the style#there’s a reason why harry potter 1 4’s soundtrack reminds me of home alone 1 2#same composer — john williams#and there’s a reason why 5 7 were darker sounding soundtracks. different composers#people don’t realize how ridiculously important the music is to creating the music itself#like i’ve had countless people tell me the harry potter soundtrack (specifically the 1st movie) reminds them of christmas lmao#it was the marketing of the movie reruns on abc family#and the way the movie was filmed and scored. he captured the magic and the castle/snow scenes helped move the music along
