Nov 30: Frost (Brienne-centric)
It’s not like Brienne is going to go to the holiday party, and it’s not like anyone is going to care but maybe it’s another new thing Brienne can get used to here in Westeros.
Brienne knew, somewhat abstractly, that Westeros got long, cold winters when she decided to move. Brienne has never had a real winter, only vaguely remembers the year snow fell on Tarth. It’s not the tropics on Tarth, Brienne is used to wearing sweaters and long pants and she’s figured she’d be fine.
But it’s October, now, her feet feel like they’ll never be warm again and now the windshield on her car is covered in ice.
The delight Brienne had felt at the frost sparkling on the grass as she drank her tea and looked out the window evaporates quickly.
Brienne has been sitting in her car, heater running, trying her wipers every so often and wincing at the harsh scraping noise, when there’s a knock on her window.
Brienne vaguely recognizes the woman as one of the tenants from her floor.
“You’re new here, aren’t you?” The woman looks like a fairy tale princess, her long dark hair falling over a pretty pink coat, the blue hat and gloves and scarf she’s wearing matching her boots.
She doesn’t look like she’s cold at all, while Brienne is shivering in her father’s old peacoat and one of her warmer sweaters and jeans.
“Yes, from Tarth,” Brienne answers.
“You need an ice scraper.” The woman holds up her hand. “One second.”
She comes back with a long-handled tool and begins chipping away at Brienne’s windshield with surprising strength. The woman, Brienne learns as she takes the scraper and uses her greater height for more reach, is Shireen Baratheon and she teaches at the local school.
“You need better gloves,” Shireen says, looking at Brienne’s worn fingerless mitts. “And hats and a lined coat. This is nothing for us.”
Brienne groans before she can stop herself.
By the time she’s cleared her car, Brienne has a shopping list for warm clothing, things like a snow shovel even though the landlord is supposed to clear the lot (“He doesn’t,” Shireen sighs, and then uses a word that’s very inappropriate for a schoolteacher to describe Baelish), and a new appreciation for fleece-lined anything and thermal underwear.
Shireen gives her a wave and insists they must get together for coffee sometime, claiming it’s nice to have a normal neighbor.
Brienne doesn’t really expect she’ll follow through.
But Brienne does go shopping on Saturday, shoving her distaste for the chore back and heading to Cregan’s department store.
She’s surprised to see her head volunteer from the animal shelter working the floor.
“My parents store,” Sansa explains, obligingly leading Brienne to the men’s section and helping her find most of the things on Shireen’s list. Fleece-lined jeans, heavier sweaters, thermal base layers and boots.
Brienne tamps down on the brief feeling of regret that she’s stuck with clunky, brown boots instead of something cute. Not that she’d wear powder blue, fur-topped ones like Shireen, but it would be nice to have something pretty and feminine that fits her.
That must be why she allows Sansa to coax her into the woman’s department.
“We do alterations, and we carry plenty of tall sizes,” Sansa explains. She’s not exactly petite herself, slim but definitely taller than average.
Still not as tall as Brienne, which means there’s at least some hope of things fitting her.
Sansa seems determined, digging through racks with enthusiasm.
“Don’t you want something nice?” Sansa asks, piling dresses over her arm as Brienne frowns. “I know your job needs practical clothes, but we do have the town holiday party coming up.”
“I don’t wear dresses,” Brienen says automatically. “I can’t.”
Sansa raises an eyebrow.
Brienne gestures at her shoulders, sighing. She doesn’t know if women like Sansa genuinely don’t understand how large she is or if they’re just mean enough to want to see how grotesque Brienne looks.
Brienne doesn’t think Sansa would be that cruel. She’s always been kind when they’ve worked together, and Asha has nothing but good things to say about the woman who keeps the volunteers at the shelter running smoothly.
“Nonsense,” Sansa says briskly.  “You just need the right dress.”
The right dress, if it exists, is not at Cregan’s, though Sansa tries to talk Brienne into a few. Brienne eventually finds herself buying a blue jumpsuit which miraculously does fit, or almost. Sansa assures her the store can let out the hem and fix the inch of ankle showing at the leg. Brienne will need to wear something underneath it, the neckline plunges too low, if she wears it out in public.
There’s something kind of nice about having an article of clothing so decidedly feminine, even if Brienne never wears it. And Sansa looks so pleased when Brienne says she’ll pick the jumpsuit up later.

Let me analyze these outfits cuz I love fashion 💋
Tumblr media
Arya- Similar to her outfits last season her wardrobe reminds me of Ned and Robb’s outfits. Her outfits this season has more of a light brown feel to it though. Which I like considering all the other characters outfits are ah just black and depressing lol. Anyway, Arya is here and ready.
Tumblr media
Jaime looks like he has some northern attire on. Will he be an honorable knight this season? Maybe. I think his arc will be interesting this season and mirror book Jaime more. I don’t like to get people hopes up but from what we’ve heard and just from this pic,,,it’s interesting *eyes emoji*. Honestly, his outfit says ‘he is ready for war, to fight besides Brienne and other semi cool people’. Of course, I can’t help but think of that quote when he says he is not doing it for honor but it amuses him to see people think he won’t be faithful when in reality he will be.
Tumblr media
Jonathan...so far his outfits just give me Ned vibes. S6 it was him embracing Stark more and leaving Nights Watch behind. He was basically a commander for North then s7 we see him become this KITN mirroring Ned more (except Ned was Lord lol) then now...so far he still has that Ned vibe to him, especially with the furs. Jon has always been more Stark to me but I wonder  how his attire will change once he finds out the truth. I don’t expect him to throw on some dragon armor like he is Rhaegar but I do wonder how his style will be? I kinda hope he lets his hair out more though to mirror old jon and the innocence he lost.
Tumblr media
Bran, knows the fuck what will happen, lmao. YALL LOOK AT HIM!! DO YOU SEE HOW THIC THAT COAT IS??????? THAT SHIT LOOKS HEAVY BUT BRANDON DON’T CARE! HE KNOWS HOW COLD IT’s GOING TO BE. Bran is rocking his Northern attire BUT I think he knows where he is going towards. From the pic he looks kinda haunted but knows what needs to be done. I do love the brown furs. Like Arya I think Bran’s coat mirrors Robb as well.
Tumblr media
Sansa’s fur mirrors Cat more this season. Especially the fur. It seems her dress, is similar to last season though. Hoping these outfits change up a bit has the season goes by. She looks good though and really regal. I believe they will have to leave winterfell so I do wonder how her style will change having to leave the home she wanted to return to (grrm if she dies im suing)
Tumblr media
I love how Tyrion’s outfit seems black but it’s really blue. If you look at the material near his accessories it has a hint of blue. Maybe Tyrion like Dany is trying to fit into Winterfell? What I find very interesting is that his neck is covered. Now, you might say ‘autymn, it winter,’. Yes, it is but I can’t help but think of how Cersei’s neck was covered last season. There was literally armor around her neck and now Tyrion is covering his neck. Again, could be something simple like Tyrion is cold but in fiction I believe fashion reflects how the character is/feeling atm. Right now, I can’t help but think of that quote about Tyrion snarling at the dragons around.
Tumblr media
So far, I LOVE Dany’s outfits this season. Not only she looks like princess elsa udgjdkgf but she is ready. She has her winter attire on, knowing she will have to fight for Westeros but it also reflects who she is deep down. This outfit is interesting. The outfit above is more grey but you still see the hints of red. I feel like Dany is trying to fit in and be peaceful but she is a dragon underneath. Even from Emilia’s face above you see the fire in her eyes but she is trying to shield it. Dany’s attire reflects her stepping into this change (what she thought would happen when she came to Westeros hasn’t, it all has changed.) but not letting us forget she is a Targaryen.
Tumblr media
Tbh, for this Dany outfit I don’t like the red she has underneath but the coat dress? SLAYS. I love how it reflects herself being able to adapt and ready to take on the winter but she is still Dany. Her Dress looks like it has red scales and that mirrors her being a dragon. Plus, the red gloves? ICONIC.
Tumblr media
Lastly, let’s talk about the queen. Cersei’s outfit is the opposite of her outfit last season, especially regarding her neck area. Last season, she had this armor around her neck but this season , the back of her neck is covered, and some of  the front but not much like in s7. She has these chains on, protecting her body, plus the pads on her shoulder. It’s like she is dressing up more like a soldier. It’s interesting because we see Jaime in armor and now Cersei has her own armor. You can even say Tyrion’s outfit reflects armor has well. It’s like the Lannisters are really scared deep down but keep on going. Their outfits reflect them trying to protect themselves. Cersei wearing an outfit that looks like she is ready for war, she is a soldier, I mean it gives me book!cersei vibesssssss.
.....I feel like Cersei gives no fucks about the prophecy now (showwise) or thinks she has avoid it somehow. Or maybe we all misinterpret it wrong *eyes emoji*. I do believe Cersei is vulnerable, especially after Jaime left her and her outfit reflects that. And...i’m noticing the gals who are theorized to have a baby are not showing that much. There might be time jumps and they could daytime soap opera us but I find it intriguing.....
All the characters outfits are interesting....but they are also lacking. The only favorites of mine has been Dany’s and kinda Sansa’s. I really hope this isn’t the outfits they are stuck with lmao. I really need it to be changed up a bit. Idc if there hair is everywhere, blood is on them, dead are all around. I need a CHANGE UP.
And when a dream of spring approaches in the finale, chile those spring outfits better be fucking gooooood.

happy birthday celia!
a very happy birthday fic to my fave lil lady @draganchitsa who is just, such an awesome, fun smart person.
--
Gendry sincerely hated Hot Pie’s stupid cat, and he hated agreeing to allow it into the house. This was especially true as he stared down the bright orange thing as it sat peacefully under a tree. Two hours he’d been searching for the furball and he’d been sleeping under Hot Pie’s window the whole fucking time?
So there he was, with Macaroon’s favorite nip toy and a treat, trying to coax him into not bolting as soon as Gendry approached, which he only ever did outside. Otherwise, he was under Gendry’s feet constantly.
What a stupid cat.
“C’mon, Mac,” he said, waving the toy out in front of him. Mac looked interested, tentatively getting up. Slowly stretching. The usual cat thing.
“Nymeria, no!” someone across the street shrieked, and Mac darted up the tree as a huge gray blur of fur and teeth barreled into Gendry, knocking him firmly on his ass.
Nymeria turned out to be a dog of immense size, one of those dogs that was only supposed to live on a snow-covered tundra and not in muggy naval of Westeros that King’s Landing was.
She sat down directly on Gendry’s abdomen, her tail wagging and whacking him in the face as she stared up to where Mac was huddled in the tree.
“Nymeria get off him!”
The dog begrudgingly obeyed, whining as it looked up the tree.
“Nymeria that isn’t Squishy, you can’t play with that one,” the girl said soothingly, rubbing the dog gently. The dog that was easily bigger than she was. Still, she stuck a hand out to help Gendry up, and he took it, mostly as a gesture of good will, because she was too small to actually help him up.
“I’m sorry about her,” the girl said. “My name’s Arya.”
Gendry realized he’d been gaping like an idiot. In his defense, she was a pretty cute girl. Short, with brown hair and what Miss Tansy would call a ‘northern look’. “Uh, Gendry.”
“I’ll help you get your cat if you hold Nymeria. Your cat looks like Theon’s cat and they like to play, so I think she just thought it was the same,” she said this all very casually, shrugging off her coat and climbing up the tree with a deft gracefulness. “What’s his name?” she called down.
“Macaroon. I call him Mac.”
“That’s cute,” she said with a giggle.
“He’s my foster brother’s. He’s a baker.”
“C’mere Mac,” he heard the girl say in a hushed, cat-calming voice. Gendry was watching, somewhat apprehensively, until she swung down, Mac under one arm, looking oddly at peace with his fate. He was then presented to Nymeria for a sniff. The giant dog simply licked the cat’s head and lost interest, instead turning and rubbing her face all over Gendry’s jeans.
“I think she likes you,” Arya said as he took Mac from her.
“Then we’ll just have to see each other again, right?” he blurted out before he could think of it.
She blushed, but was grinning. “Okay. I might walk Nymeria down this way again tomorrow.”
“Convenient, because I was going to walk the dog I don’t own at the same time.”
“You could always walk Mac. He could stand to lose some weight,” she said, poking Mac’s admittedly hefty belly gently. The cat purred, rubbing his head on Gendry’s chin and generally acting as cute as possible.
“Definitely. I’ll do that.”
And that’s how Gendry and Hot Pie ended up trying to buy a cat harness and leash.
