Since coming out of the hospital and learning of the spy, Vincent has been more vigilant of his surroundings. He felt uneasy that someone might still be following him...even in another country. After resting he was a bit more alert, so just to be cautious, he asked Jay if he had any hats to wear to hide his face, especially in the busy town centre.

Some paintings in the building caught Renee's attention and she took some photos. One stood out in particular. It had a plane statue and she could see some people in the background. Armed with weapons.

Renee: Jay do you know what these paintings are of? Jay: These are of Chestnut Ridge and the plane one…I dunno. Maybe the next town? Or made up? Renee: Oasis Springs doesn't look like that. I wonder if that's Strangerville.

Previously on Living a Nightmare;

Riley received an AMAZING chance card and jumped all the way to the top of the comedy career! He quickly became an overnight sensation and is now a one star celebrity! This is definitely Riley's biggest accomplishment and it means we'll have to spend a lot less time at work as the legacy progresses which I'm happy about!

Immediately after being promoted, Riley was flown out to Del Sol Valley to film his very FIRST comedy special titled "Hot and Heavy". It was a resounding success! "Hot and Heavy" was one of the most popular comedy albums of the entire year, and Riley has the plaques and posters to prove it. His life has skyrocketed in a very short amount of time. He's got a beautiful girlfriend, a job that he loves and grand ideas for what the future holds for him.

Monica decided she was ready for more and autonomously asked Riley if she could move in! They're both so infatuated with each other and don't want to waste any more time not being together.

Under the cut you can find some a lot more info on the gameplay aspect of the legacy and my future plans for the Burns family!

First of all, I had to extend the short lifespans just a LITTLE bit. Short is TOO short y'all, I can't. I still made them shorter than the normal lifespan. Lifespans are as follows:

Baby: 2 days

Infant: 6 days

Toddler: 8 days

Child: 11 days

Teen: 14 days

Young Adult: 18 days

Adult: 25 days

Elder: 8 days

We'll play out this first generation with these lifespans and see how it goes, I may have to adjust it a bit but I'm not sure. I really did not realize how difficult this challenge was going to be, because I get attached to my gameplay sims very fast. They're all gonna DIE so quickly, pray for me. I'm honestly excited to see how much progress we can make in a short amount of time though.

As far as future plans, I'm completely over Strangerville and it's annoying NPC's. I did not beat the Strangerville story and I was using a mod to toggle the story on and off, and sometimes I would forget to toggle it and it's just so frustrating. there should ABSOLUTELY be an option in the gameplay settings to turn the story off.

We are officially going to be moving to Chestnut Ridge! I figured it would be fun to try out some horse ranch gameplay and own a huge ranch. We're going to be taking out a loan in order to afford it, and Riley is going to keep working for a while as a top comedian before he retires and dedicates all of his time to the ranch. We're going to be attempting to survive by selling nectar, breeding horses/doing competitions, and farming! Monica may also pick up crocheting or cross stitching as a side hobby. Maybe canning?! I haven't done any canning at all yet! I know it makes little to no sense for them to be moving to a huge ranch from a very rundown home, but since Riley shot to stardom so fast I like to think he realized the first thing he wanted was a nicer home.

I think it fits Riley PERFECTLY. He's always wanted to make his own nectar and being a country boy at heart, Chestnut Ridge won't feel too far from home. Monica is also an animal enthusiast and VERY excited to get some animals, so it's going to be great for both of them. They've been doing some house hunting lately and they've almost found the perfect place. I've already moved some of their friends to Chestnut Ridge and given all of the original Chestnut Ridge townies little makeovers! I also added a couple more sims to the world just to fill it up a bit more. Riley and Monica will be making TONS of friends I'm sure. There's a bunch of couples ready to have babies at the same time as them which I'm excited about, gotta make sure our kids have friends!

I think that's it for now, but I did just want to say thank you so much to anyone who shows any kind of interest in following along with my gameplay. I know I've been widlly inconsistent and have rarely been posting gameplay, but I truly believe that's about to change as I dive back into this legacy and get things rolling again!

Constance "Connie" Marie Van der Linde is a girl from StrangerVille trying to scrap by to fund her dream of becoming a star and finally getting out of this bizarre town. She wants the money, the fame & the attention that all celebrities have. She grew up struggling and still is. Working at the local pub across the street from her trailer to get by. This girl doesn't have time for romance, but she can have her fun when she feels the need to. Some of the locals aren't fond of her scandalous behavior, but she "doesn't give a darn" -Connie. Attention is attention, good or bad, this girl left her mark on this strange town and they will always remember her name & will see her name and face on the big screen.

Before we know it, we’re finally making our way to Chestnut Ridge, and I discover the biggest problem with a long train ride. I have to pee, and there’s no way I can avoid using the train’s bathroom. I take care of that and return to my seat, traumatized.

Wade: I thought Chestnut Ridge was a desert. Why is it snowing?

Maia: It’s not really a desert. It’s more like a transitional town, like a connection between Copperdale, where it’s cold, and the deserts of Strangerville and Oasis Springs. But even deserts sometimes have snow high up in the mountains.

Wade: Oh, I didn’t know that. I’ve never actually been to a desert.

Maia: Maybe you can make it one of the places you live when you begin your travels.

Chestnut Ridge was a short, scenic trip from Strangerville. Kate watched eagerly as the red cliffs transformed into rolling hills and vast pastures. James had booked them a place in the heart of nectar country, and they had the whole weekend to themselves. It had been a long year. He wanted to make this anniversary unforgettable.

Their arrival was announced by the creaking of barn doors, followed by Kate’s laughter as James scooped her up and carried her over the threshold.

When she saw the backyard she almost cried. James had thought of every detail, from decorations to ordering their favourite dishes from Zoomers. She felt like the luckiest sim in the world.

“I can’t believe you did all this,” she said earnestly, as they sat down to eat. “I can’t believe you didn’t find out,” He replied with a chuckle, “Mom’s stay-over has been on the calendar for weeks!”.

When the sun dipped behind the mountains, the soft glow of fairy lights set the perfect mood. James turned on the stereo and pulled his wife into his arms. They danced below the moonlit sky, lost in the magic of the moment.

With a silent glance, the couple agreed they could wait no longer. Slipping into the hot tub to reaffirm their love. The steam from the warm water mirrored the rising passion between them. As they celebrated not only their years together but the promise of many more to come.

NSB (Straud Legacy) Gen 8 Ep. 99: A Warm Reception in New Appaloosa

At the nightclub after the reception the newlyweds had no trouble getting the dance floor all to themselves for their first dance.

Family and friends looked on as the couple joined hands, swaying to the classic country ballad they’d selected to symbolize their love for one another.

Then it was time for everyone to boogey down. Given they were in cowpoke country they had to begin with some classic cowpoke dancing.

For such a large group of casual dancers the music kept them remarkably in sync and everyone had a lot of fun. After a few more songs Jack and Peachy invited some friends to join them at a large table in the back of the club to relax and rest their tired feet.

As they often did when they met someone new, Peachy and the rest of the “Strangerville Four” couldn’t resist telling Jack’s old friend all about their epic defeat of the alien plant monster known as The Mother.

The group didn’t understand Karwan’s laugh or the meaningful look he exchanged with Jack. Karwan explained that his husband’s family had fought a similar battle centuries ago in their home nation and congratulated the men on their own historic victory. As Peachy excused himself to check on a sad looking Fabian across the room, he reflected that alien plant monsters must be a more widespread threat to the planet than he’d thought!

At first, Fabian tried to brush Peachy’s inquiries off, not wanting to burden his buddy on his happy day.

Eventually he admitted that he was struggling in his career as a paranormal investigator. He’d worked hard to gain the license but while he loved the investigative side of things, he’d quickly found that the nighttime hours didn’t agree with him and frankly he scared too easily to enjoy most of his assigned cases.

Peachy was sad for his friend, but quickly told him that he was in a perfect position to help out. His current rank at the station came with a certain amount of influence. Peachy was sure with his good word and Fabian’s work history, he’d be able to get him a job on the force starting at a high level.

A grateful Fabian smiled widely and said a change would be fantastic. Peachy promised to set up an interview for him right after his honeymoon.

As the night wore on the club started to fill up with strangers and unexpected faces from their past.

The first surprise came in the form of another random run-in with Johnny Zest. The immortal comedian recognized Peachy and teased him about having apparently lost his card. Peachy assured him that he would use it one day and rose to the challenge of proving he still had what it took to please a crowd.

Johnny got the manager to pause the music and announce his “special friend” as Peachy strutted up to the open mic and proceeded to improvise a smooth comedy set rooted in the happy memories and silly stories of growing up in a backwoods farm community very much like Chestnut Ridge.

The next special guest to the party was one of Peachy’s famous ancestors. As the hour grew late a surprising number of ghosts joined the living, and Thorne made an unexpected appearance to congratulate his great grandson on his nuptials.

Settling at the back table Peachy introduced him around and Karwan was happy to explain that Jack and he both hailed from the SimNation across the way which had recently become an ally. The former National Leader grew engrossed in Karwan’s outline of the politics of his homeland as well as his and Elevan’s past and present work with the Supernatural party. As the pair wandered off, still chatting, their seat was taken by a very unwelcome face.

Nancy Landgraab settled down boldly between the newlyweds, smiling as if they were old friends. Peachy returned her smile nervously, but Jack couldn’t muster up even a fake grin for the dirty actresses who had cost him his home and his job, no matter how well it all had worked out so far.

She congratulated them on the wedding she had not been invited to and made some references to their current positions at S.I.M.S and on the force to show she was keeping an eye on them. As Nancy wandered back to Geoffrey on the other side of the room, they wondered what to make of her visit.

At the end of the evening Peachy and Jack grabbed some nectar, taking a seat on the back patio and turning the talk to plans for the next day.

August had rented a cabin for the newly married couple, himself, and Paul to go horseback riding the following morning before the newlyweds headed out to their honeymoon cabin at the falls. However, baby Denton’s early arrival left Paul preferring to skip the outing in favor of settling into his new home.

Seeing how well Karwan had gotten along with the brothers, Jack asked if he’d like to take the spare room and join them. Not one to pass up the opportunity for a ride Karwan quickly arranged to do just that and rose with the others to begin the short trek over to their rental cabin up on the bluffs.

rough map of worlds

i was bored and i've always wanted to make my own map of all the sims 4 worlds, but i'm very bad at photoshop, so i don't know how to make it look all professional like other people's lolol. so here is a very rough version of how i imagine all the worlds to be laid out.

if you notice, i didn't put batuu on the map for a reason. i've never played with it and i never plan to play with it, but i know it's basically star wars which is in space so that's why it's not on "earth" in the sims.

keep reading if you wanna know my explanation for why i put things where <3

i put mt. komorebi at the top mainly because it makes sense that one of the coldest places would be north, but then again, i did put some warm places right below it so idk lol.

i put strangerville and chestnut ridge below mt. komorebi because they have those big rock structures, and i was thinking those would change into mountains the farther north you go. i believe that the river that starts in the top left of chestnut ridge connects to the river that goes off the map in the bottom left of mt. komorebi. i think it also might connect to the river going off the screen in the top right of strangerville and the river coming down into the top left of tartosa.

i put tartosa off to the right because there are some tan/green hills in the top left, much like the bottom right of chestnut ridge. i think the sea off to the left would eventually turn into the glimpse of the river we get in the bottom right of forgotten hollow.

i put forgotten hollow kind of where i imagine the center of all the mountains to be, because it really looks like it's surrounded by mountains.

i included all the vacation worlds, so i put granite falls where i imagine the mountain range would start ending and curving down to where i put copperdale, because that also seems to have some mountains in the top left. i think the river there connects to the river that goes through san sequoia.

speaking of san sequoia, it has that bridge that turns and goes off to the bottom right of the map. i think this bridge is the same one that will connect to the bridge going over the river in the bottom right of moonwood mill. i originally was going to put it in the mountains with forgotten hollow, but once i realized that the bridges looked similar and were in relative places, i decided to put it there. i believe that the big body of water that comes off of san sequoia isn't a sea, but a big lake that eventually splits into one of the rivers that run down into britechester.

britechester was a bit hard to place mostly because it didn't have many defining features. no pine trees, mountains, bridges, or sand. just a bunch of rivers flowing through it. so, i choose to believe that this rivers eventually funnel down into the ocean that eventually leads to sulani.

sulani is in the bottom because, like, obviously lol. i'm thinking that all the rivers and water along the bottom turn into the ocean that surrounds the islands.

evergreen harbor is down in the bottom left because i said so lmao. it just makes sense, okay? because they'd ship all their stuff out of there and some of it could go down to sulani and the rest would go off into the unknown. but the sea there curves up to the right a bit, so imagine that turns up into the sea of brindleton bay.

idk what to say about brindleton bay tbh lol. just that its sea curves up and around into windenburg, which i also don't know what to say about. just that the stone part of town on the right matches the stone in magnolia promenade.

magnolia promenade is there because in the top right there are some business-looking buildings, which i think would turn into the big skyscrapers in san myshuno. not much to say about the city, but i think the rivers in the top right would eventually connect to the river that runs through henford-on-bagley.

i've always imagined that san myshuno would eventually lead to del sol valley because you can see the buildings in the bottom left of the del sol valley map. the sand there leads up into oasis springs in my opinion. glimmerbrook is off to the right of there because i said so.

selvadorada is mainly in the top left because i didn't really know where else to put it lmao. but it's kind of mountainous, so it's in the north, but it didn't really seem to fit right above oasis springs.

and then newcrest is obviously is down to the right of san myshuno because you can also see the buildings in the top left of the map. then that leads into willow creek because they're super similar.

Hardcore Rags to Riches (Molpe Style)

Realistic Rags to Riches, where you have to pay for EVERYTHING!

These rules are in progress, come join me here to watch my LP :)

How strictly you follow the rules is always up to you :) This is just an opportunity to play the game a little different (to make it a bit harder) 🙂

Set up

start with a teen or young adult and no money 🙂

shift+ctrl+c -> “testingcheats enable” and then “money 0”, you can use the money cheat to remove money to pay for fees (see bellow) - “money NUMBER”

no other cheats, mods etc.

start on an empty lot, if the lot already has some challenges or traits you're not allowed to change it! You can add more if you want, but not get rid off anything (not even the ones you add yourself ;) ). You can decorate the lot anyway you want (like an abandoned alley etc.), but without things your sim could use (you can place benches, bins, grills, things which are normally found around the world - it depends on how easy/hard you want the challenge to be :)

any lifespan

easy = without ageing or on long lifespan, normal = normal lifespan, hard = short lifespan.

no sim joining the household can bring any money

if travelling from home, you have to pay these fees:

- inside one neighbourhood - free - to another neighbourhood - 25 simoleons - to or from Magnolia Promenade, Newcrest, Forgotten Hollow, Willow Creek - 50 simoleons - to or from Brindleton Bay, Evergreen Harbor, San Sequoia, Henford-on-Bagley - 75 simoleons - to or from Oasis spring, Strangerville, Moonwood Mill, Chestnut Ridge - 100 simoleons - to or from Glimmerbrook, Winderburg, Britechester - 150 simoleons - to or from Copperdale, San Myshuno, Tartosa - 200 simoleons - to or from Del Sol Valley, Sulani, Mt Komorebi - 300 simoleons - to or from Batuu, Selvadorada, Granite Falls - 500 simoleons - always pay the higher fee

you cannot buy anything from the B&B except from things sim can carry in their inventory (sleeping bag, laptop, guitar, toys…) until you own a lot

if you want to be fishing, you have to pay 50 simoleons for fishing equipment

you can have a sleepover at your friends house, but just one night (and day)

before you buy anything else (like a bed), you need to own a lot (you basically need to pay for the lot you started on once again) - you have to pay a fee of 100 000 simoleons (or move to an apartment)

if you want to build a house you have to buy a building permit with 500 simoleons, if you want to add any rooms, more buildings on your lot, pool, fences, anything you have to pay additional 500 simoleons every time you want to build something

you must have things to secure the needs of kids and animals before getting them - for example to have a bassinet, changing table, fridge if you want to bottle feed them, potty, toddler bed, some toys. For a horse, you need to have a horse bed, horse water trough, horse bed, big ball, and so on for other animals.

if any of your sims want to move out, you must move them into a pre-build house you can afford (and you have to pay for it - at least 5 000 simoleons),

you can move into an apartment before having money to buy a house, but you have to pay additional 300 simoleons per a room per a week

you have to pay for any food you get, unless someone else cooked it (for example, it’s ok to get food someone made on a grill, but if you want to get chips at the bar or to get a quick meal, you have to pay 5 simoleons for each.

if you want to change your sim’s outfit/outfits, you have to buy the clothes - pay 100 simoleons for each outfit (except if you buy it in the game) - doesn't matter if you want to change just a hat or the whole outfit, doesn't apply if you want to just remove something. Pay 25 simoleons for a new new-born outfit (if you decide to change it)

if you want to buy furniture you have to either have handiness lvl 5 or pay additional 500 simoleons (for the delivery and installation of the furniture). After reaching lvl 5 of handiness, you need to pay just for the furniture delivery (100 simoleons) if you buy stuff under 500 simoleons in total (from 500 simoleons it’s free shipping :) ).

If you want to change the colour of something (furniture), you need to buy a new one.

for painting the walls you need handiness lvl 3 (otherwise pay 200 simoleons) and for changing the floor you need handiness lvl 7 (or pay 350 simoleons for the handyperson who changes it for you :) ).

if you want to buy plants to decorate your house (those from B&B decorations), you have to have gardening lvl at least 3 (otherwise they'd die),

if you decide to have a job, you must have a place to live first (either an apartment or a lot)

if you decide to start your own business, you must pay a 1000 simoleon fee for the administration, plus you have to pay an additional 25 000 simoleons for the lot you build your business on.

Skills stated above can be reached by any sim in your household, it doesn't have to be your founder (for example their partner or kids can reach handiness level 5 to get rid of the installation fee for the furniture :) ).

Goals

To finish the challenge:

+25 points = to have a house worth 1 000 000 simoleons with garden and animals of your choice

+25 points = to successfully raise at least 3 children, and successfully raise them to adulthood (for example get additional traits, maximise their skills, fulfil their aspirations, whatever you feel like is a success :) )

Bonus goals:

+1 point for a golden medal per each type of social event (right now it’s 21 in my game)

+10 points - every sim reaches the top of their career or earns at least 100 000 simoleons from their business, plus their employees must be fully trained.

+5 points - have at least 5 grandchildren

+5 points - purchase every lifetime reward

+1 point - get ambrosia for your founder

get an extra point for every skill you reach level 10 with any sim who starts at 0-3 skill points in this skill (for example you can count a sim who starts with 3 skill points, but cannot count a sim who starts with 4 when you move them in - like father winter, who has some skills already maxed).

Strangerville (Strangerville Military State)

Hakzar Military Base

The Invasion Generation has hit Strangerville the hardest. Many valiant soldiers, brilliant minds, new advancements in science and medicine, and thousands of innocent lives, have been lost in a total of four Invasions around the world. Paranoia has begun to grip the survivors, with none knowing who was secretly Infected and who could be trusted. With death tolls rising, many are reluctant to join the fight, and the Strangerville Army is starting to dwindle.

Ruling General Kiana Sorco has been keeping a cool head, putting emphasis on scientific progress to see them through. She has given the Botanical Garden more power recently to expand their research, and the Science Base more power in the production of science babies. She has also given the greenlight for battle ready servos to reduce needlessly spent lives on the battlefield. Nothing has produced results yet, but General Sorco is not giving up and keeping options open to save the world once and for all.

With the back to back Mother Plant Invasions, the Botanical Garden has been working tirelessly to find a weakness and countermeasure in the alien plant. They have been working with botanists around the world, and researching occult plants on Earth, from the Plasma Tree of the old Forgotten Hollow, to the Cowplant and Cowplant Mages from the old days of Glimmerbrook. But somehow seem no closer in slowing the spread of the Mother Plant and her Infections.

Strangerville Asylum

A place created to quarantine Infected, and take samples to be used for vaccines. Lately, it has become a place to store those suspected of Infection, to keep them from public access. While patient Ayumi Maeda spent most of her young life, after being the girlfriend to a known Infected insurgent, her children were not cleared to be taken out of the system. However, the children currently have shown no signs of Infection at all, leaving heavy debates over whether or not it is morally right to detain children in a mental institution at all.

Strangerville Military Academy

With many science children, born for battle and science, to keep the population of Strangerville steady, many have no ambitions outside of the military. Many are orphaned from the countless Invasions, and only know security drills desert sand. Life seems hopeless, but all still march on. Maybe one of them is the key to victory and world peace.

Chestnut Ridge (Independent)

The old canyons of the Ridge were usually arid and dry like the desert, but boasted some of the oldest plant life on Earth. Hence, the locals didn't farm much, but had spacious ranches for animals and horses. It was the locals who introduced horse-back riding into the Invasions to get around the battle field faster. The Ridge became a welcome place for those looking to get away from the war, start over, or make their own living. Everyone governs themselves, and doesn't take kindly to royalty hoping to stake a claim. Life is simple, and self-sufficient, and everyone plans to keep it that way.

The Bongrin-Braie Ranch

By the time Griselda Bongrin-Strangreix was an adult, the Henford Elective she was set to inherit has dissolved and left her with nothing. As she had only grown up with knowledge of the arts, music and dance, and not actual farming experience, she decided to see the outside world with her husband. Meanwhile, Arjun Braie, who had no ambitions until he went to work as a ranch hand in Henford, became passionate about farming and animals, and once he graduated high school, purchased his own land in Chestnut Ridge to start a farm.

Upon moving in, the locals seemed hesitant in accepting a "crown princess" into their community, especially knowing who her mother was. Griselda assured the people that she never personally knew her mother, only having been around her for less than six months after being born, and was nothing like her. "Leave me to my vineyard, and I will leave you to your lives." she promised. "But if the community needs my help, I am more than happy to step up. All I want is a happy home." It was only a matter of time as her humble but loving nature made her and Arjun community leaders.

Paranormal Botanical Garden

Strangerville, in exchange for not drafting the people of Chestnut Ridge into the Invasions, offered to put a branch of the Botanical Garden in the canyons to expand their research. They also offered to source healthy seeds for farming to the community. The offer was reluctantly accepted, although some of the population have been volunteering to go to war with no coercion.

Doctors Rianara and Madara have been working tirelessly to find ways to fight back the Infection, making new vaccines roughly every few years. But lately, Dr. Rianara may have found a breakthrough, and is eager to unveil it to the public, once she proves it's effective. Both have been on their best behaviors with the community, keeping distance but offering to help with land, sourcing seeds and produce and even keeping animals to make their Garden more self-sufficient.

Batuu (Independent)

Hakzar Home Farm

The Strangerville Science Lab decided to set up remote operations off planet, settling for the border world of Batuu on the Outer Rim. Adventurous Scientists Crisanto and Kunal brought their wives, who wanted to be far away from any form of royalty due to their trauma, purchased some land in Batuu's jungles and allowed their families to thrive at their own pace.

While the twin brothers explore the universe looking for any information of the Mother Plant beyond the stars, the twin sisters stay home and keep to hobbies, farming and child rearing. The household has become a good source of natural foods for the nearby Black Spire Outpost, and the locals let the family keep to themselves.

IT'LL TURN YOU INTO A PLANT PERSON! And then there's the cow plants! AND WE DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THE COW PLANTS! I'VE GOT SOMETHING BETTER TO LEAK FROM STRANGERVILLE!

"Okay, so, we don't actually need to find the body of the Fourth Invasion Mother Plant's body to determine who it was.
