“Aunties!” said Sabrina, slightly out of breath as she entered the kitchen. “I’ve done something rash.”
Zelda’s heart immediately leapt into her throat. She could actually feel her blood pressure rising. Hilda, too, seemed to sense this, because she immediately untied her apron and went to Zelda’s side, placing a calming hand on her sister’s back.
“What have you done this time, love?” asked Hilda, preventing Zelda from asking the question.
“Nothing! Why do you always think the worst of me?” said Sabrina, crossing her arms.
Hilda and Zelda exchanged a look before Zelda recovered enough to say, “Then why did you say you’d done ‘something rash?’ Historically, that is enough reason for us to think the worst.”
“I didn’t mean ‘dangerous.’ Just…” Sabrina trailed off, looking between Hilda and Zelda guiltily, “…impulsive.”
“If you’re trying to give your Aunt Zelda a heart attack, you’re doing a wonderful job of it, love,” said Hilda, still running her hand up and down her sister’s back, which had gone rigid at this non-clarification. “Tell us exactly what has happened.”
“I…invited someone to dinner,” said Sabrina, uncrossing her arms so she could wring out her hands.
“Is that all?” said Hilda in relief, giving Zelda one final pat before moving closer to Sabrina. “You really shouldn’t scare us like that, Sabrina. You had me thinking you’d gone to Limbo again.”
“Why did you say ‘rash?’” said Zelda, still not convinced they didn’t have reason to worry. “Your Aunt Hilda gave you permission to invite your friends, so why give us a shock so unnecessarily?”
“Well…it has to do with the person I invited,” said Sabrina, looking directly at Zelda with apologetic eyes.
“Who is it, love?” pressed Hilda.
“Miss Wardwell,” said Sabrina, so quietly that Zelda almost missed the name.
“You invited Mary Wardwell? The woman our Queen killed and impersonated for months?” said Zelda, feeling faint. Deciding it was high time for a whiskey, she headed straight to the liquor cabinet.
“It’s just… I ran into her at the bookshop, and she seemed so lonely, so… I invited her for Thanksgiving.”
While Zelda poured herself a generous portion of whiskey, Hilda said, “That was very sweet of you, darling, but—”
“It’s out of the question,” said Zelda, taking a seat at the table. “That woman shouldn’t even be alive, let alone in our house. Lilith might be our Queen, but she’s not infallible. What if this Wardwell woman starts asking questions? What are we going to tell her?”
“I told you it was rash,” muttered Sabrina, turning and stomping away. “Well, I’m not about to un-invite her, so we’re just going to have to figure it out.”
With that, Sabrina left the kitchen. Hilda picked up her apron once more, but made no move to put it on.
“Never a dull moment, eh, Zelds?” said Hilda, testing the waters.
“That child will be the death of me,” responded Zelda, picking up the decanter of whiskey and the Torah before heading in the direction of the living room.

“A Little Fall Of Rain” and a prompt I got from @concreteangel1221 It’s not that I don’t like them. It’s just that looking back at them I can’t help but feel the urge to change them just that little bit. To add that one word, one sentence, one paragraph, to... to write them better because I know I could do it.
favorite line/scene you wrote this year:
Actually, all of my favorite scenes/paragraphs are from the things that I did not publish. But I think I can share two of them with you anyway. The first one is from the fic I published before and then deleted it, called “Little Theater” but this particular paragraph is from a chapter that never saw the light of the day.
“And as she stood like that in the middle of the clearing, listening to those signs of life around her, her ears picked up the sound she’s been waiting for. The reason why she’s been freezing her toes off in the cold. Hooves. Heavy hooves stomping on the frozen ground.”
And the second one is from a very cheerful little piece called rather adequately if I do say so myself, “Annoyance & Disappointment”.
“And in a split of a second, the moment was over.
Her face fell. Suddenly there was too little oxygen to go around. She could not breathe. She felt her chest tightening. The blood rushing in her ears muffled every other sound.
She saw the lips move and she heard the words that fell past them. The green eyes looked at her with such unusual tenderness, with such foreign feeling, that the words could not have possibly been a lie. Yet she did not believe her own ears. She did not believe what she had heard.”

But I have to say that @claire-de-macarune leaves the bestest comments. And of course, that one time when @sheep-in-space informed me she had written a follow-up to “Whispers In The Night”. I cried.

Announcing the Madam Spellman 2020 Challenge!
What is it?
A fanwork challenge to generate content for the Madam Spellman and Spellwell ships. Fanfiction, fanart, gifsets, edits, videos... you name it, it’s welcome!
How does it work?
Each week a new prompt will be chosen, and those who are participating will create content based on that prompt. If you’re posting your work on Tumblr, tag it: Madam Spellman 2020 Challenge. If you’re posting work to Ao3, there is a Collection by the same name to which you can add the work.
At the end of each week I’ll create a masterlist of the fanworks created for each prompt, and at the end of the month I’ll make an ultimate masterlist of every work submitted to the challenge.
What happens if I miss a week or if I post a work late? Will it still be accepted?
Yes! No worries! You can always ask to be added after the fact to each list. Tag @concreteangel1221 in the post to make sure I see that you’ve participated. The goal is to create more work, and there is really no time constraint.
THE WEEK ONE PROMPT (December 31st-January 7th) is:
New Year’s
This prompt can be done many different ways. You could write about a New Year’s Eve kiss, New Year’s Resolutions (thanks @softlilith for the suggestion!), new beginnings... literally anything with the theme of starting fresh in the New Year!
Theoretically, you would post your work for this prompt by January 7th, but the time constraint is lenient!! As long as you keep me in the loop, time is relative ❤️ Happy writing! Favourite Food: that is a very good question. I don’t have an absolute favourite but right now off the top of my head I’m thinking of Udon, Sourdough, Baguettes, Milk ice cream, and durian cause they’re in season right now and I’m craving them so bad
Instruments I play: Electone, guitar, and the...human? body? what exactly is one’s instrument called when one’s instrument is oneself- the Rachelle??. The extent to which I can play each is highly debatable.
Eye Color: blackish but I like to believe it’s a very dark brown
Hair Color: Dark brown that looks more black until it catches the light though I think it’s been lightening
Aesthetic: that is also a very good question. paper bag brown? maroon? nice deep blues? sometimes that kind of calming creamy beige but I guess anything that makes you feel calm and now I’m questioning how one defines an aesthetic
Languages I speak: English, terrible Chinese, but also Malay and Tamil just for my country’s pledge and a few words here and there, Singlish is a language, very very few words of French... I can count up to 9 in Spanish thank you Dora and Handy Manny
