Inky - 12/11/2023 (though uploaded on 13/11/2023)
The two hundred and forty second friend. A wizard. They are just a little guy living alone in the woods. Long ago, they were a mushroom. A human wizard gave them life and they have been doing magic since then. They greatly look up to him and want to be as talented as he is. They cast their spells and work to get better with each one. They prefer living where it is dark and damp. They sometimes miss their simple mushroom life and the connection they felt through the network. Still, now they have a goal and can shape their life around it. They are free to live however they want and they hope they will be able to become the best that they can be.

I like your style, specially your hat! It looks like the Ink Cap Alembic decor.
"I actually have one of those in my room, but my hat is more inspired by an actual inky cap mushroom. It's a nice coincidence, though"

Funguary 2024 Week 3: Edible!
This character was so much fun and also very difficult to draw. There’s a sad lack of reference photos for plus sized characters, but I think I was able to pull it off! The mushrooms that made it into the piece this week are
Puffball: This mushroom is enormous! They typically grow in meadows, woods and lawns. They can get as big as a soccer ball or larger! This was honestly the inspiration for making a plus sized character. Despite being plus sized myself I find myself struggling to draw body shapes that are similar to my own.
Dotted Stem Bolete: This mushroom is actually the inspiration for the Vitiligo the character has. While the mushroom is often red in color I thought the dotted stem was somewhat reminiscent of the pigment loss found in vitiligo.
Black Trumpet Mushroom: This mushroom was the inspiration for the top. This mushroom is also known as the horn of plenty and trumpet of the dead. I honestly didn’t know this going into this drawing and only learned this after it was finished. But this would have been a really cool concept to play with.
Inky Cap Mushroom: This one might be obvious, but her hat is made of an inky cap mushroom. While it is an edible mushroom I certainly wouldn’t recommend it if you enjoy alcohol.
Amethyst Deceiver: The color of this mushroom was just beautiful and was used as the color for her glitter see-thru fabric skirt and sleeves. While the mushroom is edible it can be used to absorb arsenic from the soil.
6 out of 7 Mushrooms is definitely not bad!

I’m participating in #Funguary which is a prompt by @feefal on instagram. I felt inspired by the inky cap mushroom and kind of had this dark princess peach vibe in mind. Two dramatic hat girls in a row lol but its hard to make a mushroom character and not give them a dramatic hat. It’s too much fun!

Mushroom Mage
For Funguary, I made one character that took inspiration from several of the suggested mushrooms/fungi:
Inky cap: skirt, hair, and held item (and a hat, which I scrapped)
Candlesnuff: gloves
Bleeding tooth: boots and beaded accessories
Clathrus ruber: thigh-highs
Turkey tail: shirt collar
Initially, she was supposed to be an evil necromancer type, but then I considered how perfectly the Circle of Spores druid subclass fits. Whatever the specifics, she recognizes and utilizes the concept of growing new life from death (and looks fabulous while doing so).
