As much as I love the broken code I will never get over how mess the plot felt and how much better it would have been if they kept the mystery of us bramblestar still bramblestar. Like were suppose to believe that ash was this mastermind and he was so clever and stuff. Here's the thing right his plan would have worked if he had thought for one moment hey maybe I shouldn't be a dick lmao??? Like I get it was to make conflict but like Fr what was his end goal with being like hey there are codebreakers and then implicated cats who never even spoken to him??? Like his whole goal was to be with squilf which is like understandable but then to act like a dick to the elders and stuff it's like bro you were so close you just had to not be an asshole lol you could have had the charade go on for like ever cause nobody was gonna believe rootspring at that point.

Idk just thoughts I had while driving lol.

no pressure!!

aside from obvious ones like incest/pedo/grooming/etc.

ships like bristlefrost x rootspring, snowfur x thistleclaw, graystripe x silverstream, and more recently, nightheart x sunbeam

the latter two don’t nearly annoy me as much as the first two. i don’t think these are the worst ships — they just annoy me the most personally. btw i don’t have anything against anyone who ships these!!

i’m gonna focus on bristleroot for this because it’s my least favorite ship.

a *really weird* misconception is that people dislike these ships because they “aren’t gay” or are more heteronormative. i don’t have any issue shipping het ships like tigerdove, ivyfern, etc. and i don’t dislike bristleroot because it “comes in the way of shadowroot.” i’m not petty like that. i don’t even ship shadowroot either.

when it comes to warriors shipping, i think it all really just comes down to preference. i don’t think there is a single ship in the series that is “perfectly written.” the fact the series is so inconsistent with events especially makes it impossible to decipher how a “good” a relationship is canonically. what does annoy me, though, is when people try to push forward a “best ship” in a book series that can’t even reach the bare minimum

it bothers me about bristleroot is how bare-bone minimum the relationship is. it has all the landmarks of a relationship, sure, but it doesn’t really go past “one male one female cat in love.” they don’t even have a relationship dynamic canonically. there’s a whole bunch of issues with the relationship that has probably been reiterated by others thousands of times so i’ll spare you the rant.

what really annoys me though, is how people try defending the bad qualities of bristleroot by saying it is a “healthy” warriors ship. this isn’t an achievement, this is literally just the bare minimum. in non-warriors media, a well-written relationship adds a lot to the story. warriors doesn’t really do that much, which is why people think a ship just being healthy = well-written. it really all just depends on personal preference at some point.

Have some broken code character designs for a multi animation project/story board i'll never finish. I tried to make the designs simple enough, but oof, i'm a sucker for overcomplicating designs...

I’m really behind on posting my art, so here is the scariest villain in Warrior Cats, Ashfur. The Broken Code is my favorite arc by far for many reasons, even if the ending could have been handled better.

Ashfur is a well written villain that serves as a warning to others, that their is a difference between love and obsession. If a person loves you they should take your feelings into account, not push them aside. Ashfur doesn’t care about how Squirrelflight feels, since he only wants her as his mate. Bramblestar isn’t much better since in Squirrelflight’s Hope he refuses to listen to the cat who is not just his mate, but also his deputy. Heck Bramblestar keeps on belittling Squirrelflight which makes her fear of being forgotten much worse.

Compare that to the relationship between Rootspring and Bristlefrost. Rootspring actually isn’t trying to push Bristlefrost, and it only seems like it because his crush keeps being pointed out by others. When the two get together, it’s only when Bristlefrost realizes that she cares for Rootspring. Otherwise she might of just told the imposter about what Rootspring told her, instead she doesn’t say anything until she tells Squirrelflight. Rootspring was also at the end of the arc willing to leave SkyClan so that Bristlefrost wouldn’t have to.

Okay Tbc was good but like

l Possession??? Ashfur??? Dragging people to cat hell???? Sending fake signs to cats?? Making your ghost bodies mimic the voice of bramblestar to lure in squirrelflight??? Depression water???? Ashfurs emotions controlling cat hell??? The moonpool frozen over??? Throwing Shadowsight off a cliff???

In summary that arc was deranged but really good +100 points cuz more dovewing and squirrelflight
