Frederick Wentworth and Anne Elliot are actually way more insane than we give them credit for. Frederick was *this* close to pulling off an Anthony Bridgerton just because he read too many angsty wattpad stories out in the middle of the pacific ocean after running away from the country to get far from Anne? He wanted her jealous? He wanted to see if she cared? He thought her so changed because [There had been a time, when of all the large party now filling the drawing-room at Uppercross, they would have found it most difficult to cease to speak to one another.]?? He heard that she decided to stay and care for little Charles and realised–Fuck, she hasn’t changed at all, she’s still that kind, warm, compassionate Anne?? They hardly speak throughout the book? He resorts to talking about how he nearly died on his quest to Get Away From Anne just to make her feel scared for him??
