Trees.
Okay, I'm just gonna throw it out there, fable, your tree sucked /hj.
Look man, Momboo made the tree in the middle of the server, keep in mind, she's not a god, and its like 100 times bigger than yours.
Now, I know what you may be saying, "Oh, but Len, fables was gold, fable doesn't have trauma associated with his tree.(must i remind you of... C E N T R O S S)"
And to you, my dear reader, I simply say, "hush."
Momboo's tree has a fort, a secret bunker and a canopy.
Momboos tree got blown up, endstoned and glitched. Let me know when we can say that about fables.

Thinking about how with all of the rain, and the weather of spring, when fable ends and the sun starts shining through the clouds, the flowers are going to bloom brightly and everything is going to flourish, how when it's finally over, an end to a war we can't even count the start of, the ground will be muddy and drowned, but as they start to grieve, having the ability and safety, finally get the time to process everything since fable got out, their going to start the journey of healing, slowly, and there will be time marked with nothing but drenched earth and dreary skies, but then the world will start flourishing around them, despite everything, the world will bloom.

Ah yes.. a rare fluff/silly headcannon from me
Tumblr isn't free from my headcannons :> (I already have sent this in the Fable SMP discord /info)
Icarus has tried and failed multiple times to birb perch on a tree branch, but ends up falling face flat on the ground. Yes people have tried to stop Icarus, or tell them to stop.. but it simply keeps happening

more fable tlt au thoughts
andd im back with more thoughts about my fable smp the lightning thief au. one thought that i really enjoy is Rakai as Mr D (Dionysus), simply cuz they have matching vibes in some weird way. the Oracle is Haley, i think everyone can agree on that. other thoughts for Clarisse and Ares are Ocie and Casus, which is funky cuz Ocie does feel like she could do stuff Clarisse would do, but Casus as Ares feels less fitting? its important to me to decide who is Talia simply because of The Tree On The Hill (song from the musical for all the book readers/show watchers). and since Athena is Grover, i just like the angst possibilities of Jamie being Talia and Athena failing to protect them, Jamie sacrificing themself to save others. and theres also something about Jamie being turned into a tree by Delta...turning into a pine tree. something about their last name being Pine. (yes, i am gonna ignore that Zeus turned Talia into a tree-) speaking of pine, i think Momboo fits Katie just because they both do be very nature coded. also i cant remember if i mentioned this earlier but Fable is Athena, Netherum is Pan, but i still dont know who would be Hades. my brain just came up with this on the spot but theres something about Perix being Medusa. it can either go 1 way and ignore the canon, which would make Enderian curse Perix, thats why shes mad at her, but on the other hand theres no reason for her to not like Icarus specifically. but the other way is that Fable cursed her and turned him into a monster, and theres something about Fable tricking her in canon. which also gives a really funky thing about Perix and Enderian sneaking into Fables temple to go on a date- and a funky thing about Perix and Enderian dating. and this also gives sorta a reason for Perix hating Icarus also this is the most random thing ever but Wolf as Chiron? the vibes kinda fit? none of the relationships are canon at all but thats fineee- this is mainly just because the vibes of these 2 fit well i guess. i do also have thoughts about Arisanna as Luke. cuz in Lukes good kid reprise (part of last day of summer, songs from the musical) the lyrics are literally "ive been here since i was a kid, i did everything they ever asked yeah i did and for what? you know this world will never be ours as long as our parents rule over the stars". this fits so well for Ari. she has been listening to Soraza all her life, and finally when she reaches the point of getting sick of it, she gives up on trying to impress her mom, decides that it doesnt matter because the gods just dont care. i have many thoughts about this but this post is already so long- sooo hope yall enjoyed my rambling and if you have any suggestions feel free to let me know

Hey there! It seems as though at least a few people are seeing my posts. Considering that this is the only social media where I'm actively posting, I thought I should write a little introduction!
You can call me Indigo. I'm almost 20 years old as of posting this. I'm aromantic and asexual, my gender is still to be determined. My pronouns are they/any, which basically means that any pronouns (including neos) are fair game as long as you throw in a "they" every once in a while.
(This is long so I'll cut it here)
If you've seen my posts you'll know that I enjoy yelling about mcyt stuff, specifically about fable smp. I'm also following smps like bound smp, mer smp, siege smp, craft smp, EoD, Hermitcraft and occasionally the life series though.
I also enjoy reading. I have a lot of books and will gladly give book suggestions if anyone asks me. I mostly read fantasy and science fiction books, ideally without a prominent romance aspect. I also read what might be considered murder mysteries? That's probably not what the genre is called, but you get my point. I've read thinks like a "a good girls guide to murder", "Dune", the aurora cycles, most of the grishaverse books "the priory of the orange tree" and "the sunbearer trials". This isn't a complete list by any means, if i wrote a complete list this would be way too long.
I also enjoy watching crafting content on YouTube. It's really fun to watch other people make stuff! I mostly watch people who make cosplays or just regular clothes, but there's some diorama/sculpture makers in there too.
If you've been here for a while, you've seen the posts about the beginnings of my technoblade cosplay journey. That is still a project I really want to make and it's the reason I started posting here in the first place. I am going to finish it at some point, I don't know when yet though. I'll still post updates here if I work on it.
I likely won't post here all too often, it'll mostly happen if I've got more mcyt theories or other fandom related stuff that I need to yell into the void to get them out of my head. Other than that it'll be reblogs of stuff for the most part.
Well then, that's the introduction! I didn't expect it to get this long lol, but that goes for all of my posts. As always, thank you for reading and have a nice rest of your day/night!

Blacksmith’s Forge
Started out as a PJO Au involving only Fundy but then expanded to include the rest of the Cogchamp SMP crew
Kid of Hephaestus, real Leo Valdez vibes seeing as Fundy always has a tool belt on wherever he goes even if he doesn't need it
Having grown up in the mines, Fundy's extremely confused when a man in a wheelchair comes rolling up telling him about some camp
At first thinking it's some type of camp for troubled teens, not really having the best luck when it comes to authorities. Unable to count the amount of times he's ran from the coppers
Whether it's simple graffiti or a joyride on a stolen motorcycle, Fundy can't seem to care. Whatever fills the adrenaline rush when boredom strikes
It's only when he wakes up to his forge being overran by dwarves that he finally heed the warning he was given
Spends most of his time at camp, hanging out with campers from Athena's cabin, being the one to check over the blueprints
Seeing if their ideas are plausible and actually work. It's no problem if they don't. Hell, Fundy prefers when they don't work the first time around as it means he's gets to tinker with their designs.
Doesn't make too many changes as most of the mistakes tend to be sleep deprived errors. Still he'll see what he can do to make 'em more efficient
Mainly listens to Jazzpunk while he works, stimming along; mouth pops, banging his wrench against the side of some metal scrap, tapping his foot
Otherwise the other half of the time is spent getting his ass kicked because he decided to taunt one of Ares' kids. Also picking out the most hotheaded one he can find.
Starts out with a simple prank which he blames on the Hermes kids who already hate him
Fundy makes all his failed pick-pocketing gadgets shiny to their sticky hands, usually blows up in their faces literally. Not badly enough that they have to go to the med unit but they do end up with explosions of soot and ash on their clothes
So as you'd expect, they rat him real quick and Fundy always forgets that said Ares' kid will just cut the tree he swiftly scrambled up down
Butchering some remark trying to compare Fundy's fox hybrid traits to the one Aesop's fable—the one about how the grapes are just out of reach and the fox eventually gives up
Which Fundy points out and that's what finally pushes them over the edge
It's during one of these tiffs that he meets his friend group, as another camper, Sam decides to intervene for once. The Ares' kid ends up with some injuries for once as they tried to act hard when really, they were shitting bricks when they saw Sam's gas mask mixed with being a centaur.
'You really don't know when to stop do you?' is the first he asks Fundy when it all ends and when Fundy just chuckles out a 'no,' Sam sighs. Sam doesn't truly know what about the kid makes him invite him to his table but he doesn't regret it.
‘Guys, Sammie’s picked up another stray.’ Tubbo’s remark makes the others look up, seeing their centaur friend walk over with a fox hybrid
‘And he’s not in Hermes’ cabin? Being a fox and all.’ Crumb flicks 5up’s head. ‘That’s like asking if you should be in Hestia’s cabin. Or that I should be in Artemis’ cabin.’
Their conversation ending as the duo sits down, ‘Guys, meet Fundy. Fundy, this is Tubbo, 5up, Crumb, & Ranboo.’
‘Enderman if you’re wondering.’ Ranboo gestures to his dual colored skin. ‘Oh, figured it’d be rude to ask.’
When they make charms for their necklaces, they make sure no one gets the one they made; Fundy gives his to Crumb, Crumb gives its to Ranboo, Ranboo gives theirs to Sam, Sam gives his to 5Up and 5up gives his to Fundy
Exchanging numbers so that they can still talk/bitch to one another when they leave camp and return to normie life

Fable smp, I did not type all this out it came from the wiki :>
Ghosty is an adventurer and traveler whose main focus was finding his friend, The Lady of the World. He joined the SMP after being rescued from the End Prison
Aax is an olm hybrid who was discovered by Rae in a cave where he was waiting for someone to return. The cave was souped out with a nice couch and some signs that counted fours as by their logic "if [he] didn't cross over them; it wasn't a full five days". He enjoys fishing, is sensitive to sunlight and has very strong hearing as he was able to speak to Athena through the caves and heard Momboo (Strawberri) in the cave earlier in season two
Athena is a the child of Netherum and a friend to all on the server. They and Jamie are best friends and became Rae's lab assistants early in the SMP. Athena's disappearance during the Halloween Episode kicked off the major lore of the SMP as the server set out on a journey to bring them home.
Centross has a rocky relationship with a number of the other SMP members due to his actions in season one but regrets them and has been actively trying to make up for them.
Chaos is... a vibe. They have dragonfly wings and are decidedly not human but were not always such. They are a mercenary and currently co-king of Sea Side with Ocie.
Easton is a college graduate with a degree in Real Estate. They were adopted when they were younger by Momboo a year before she also adopted Jamie. Currently they are living at the foot of a volcano.
Galahad is a blaze hybrid and is a Nexai Knight that fought under Netherum during the war. They are kind and care for their friends. The cold and water are painful for him to be in.
Haley was a traveler and the first member of the SMP to canonically die. She was a bit of a hermit and didn’t interact much with others on the server before the events that lead to her death, but she was friends with Momboo and Sherbert.
Strawberri is is the embodiment of the land given human form. She’s the adopted mother of Jamie and Easton. She cares a lot about nature and especially the tree in the center of spawn.
Oceana is the embodiment of the ocean given human form. She misses being the ocean and used to freely tell people that she was the ocean before realizing that's probably not something you should tell people. She’s currently co-king of Sea Side along with Chaos.
Rae is a scientist whose main focus of study is dimensions. He started on the SMP primarily researching the End before its discovery, but now is studying several dimensions and the gods (most of them are his family).
Seven is a robot with multiple functions whose objective is doing tasks for others. However in season one he eventually learned how to think more for himself and make his own choices.
Sherbert is an alchemist who has made a number of new potions through trial and error. There are a lot of mysterious occurrences and happenings that surround them. From their left eye constantly bleeding to their house changing on its own.
Ven is a writer that lives at the top of one of the mountains around spawn. They are a bit of a recluse and put signs leading up to his home to deter others from visiting but they have not worked very well. Typically they need to be dragged to events by other people, namely Ocie.
Will is an adventurer. He loves maps and takes notes of the interesting places he finds on his travels. Though he likes wandering, it is lonely and he has been making friends for the first time in a while in the SMP.
Wolf is a wolf-like person formerly known as the dog "Void".
~Remi
That sounds really cool! :D I like their names a lot tbh like that is really cool to me sjdnsnjw
I actually almost panicked when I saw this like 'did Remi really just spend like a half hour typing??' turns out we're good xD brain went ACK-

Reconnaissance (Hermit Tommy AU)
(hooo boy here comes the start of a very long project, in which wrongs try to be righted in more worlds than one. This is a slight continuation of the fic Vulnerable, so maybe check that out of you're confused. Enjoy!)
TW: Death
-
Legend has it that the End connects all worlds.
There is countless spawns, countless new worlds created every second, but there is only one End. The End connects all threads of the wide, wide universe, and if you go far enough, you can see the start of other civilizations on pale islands farther out than the fabled badlands. If you go far enough, if you traverse the End more than any have before, you can start to see beginnings.
Xisuma knows this is all talk. But all legends start in truth. The End is where the admin begins his search.
He's surprised to find Tommy's old world very quickly.
There are few worlds that are completely closed off from the End, and of those few only one is still actively inhabited.
The Dream SMP. The name can't be a coincidence.
Xisuma turns to the world's history now, the hardest part of locating the world now over. It's then that Xisuma learns the best news; the world is regularly open to MCC, and that means a way in.
He tells only Tango of his plan, prepares him for the worst. If Xisuma leaves and doesn't return, Hermitcraft won't have an admin, and the world will die. It would be irresponsible to leave with that much responsibility on his shoulders, but Xisuma would not ask any of his hermits to go in his place, and he reminds Tango firmly of this when the mod protests his decision.
Xisuma spends the next month teaching Tango how to take up the mantle of admin while Xisuma is gone, and before the night of MCC he relinquishes the power in its entirety to his closest confidant. The transfer of administrator leaves both Xisuma and Tango out of commission for quite a while, Xisuma's body struggling through the sudden withdrawal of magic and Tango's attempting to adjust to the influx of power that came too quickly for him to process.
Xisuma departs while Tango rests, leaving the unsure promise of return in his wake in a book and quill before he steps through the portal to MCC.
Xisuma knows where to go. The portal to the Dream SMP has been reignited since the scare last time, and the former admin easily slips through the gateway during the hubbub of the event.
xisumavoid joined the game
<FoolishG> o/
<Ranboo> who
<ItsFundy> wait what
<xisumavoid> Hello. Do any of you know a Dream?
<awesamdude> Who are you?
Xisuma stared at his communicator screen. He chose to not disclose his reasoning for his arrival, on edge because of Tommy's state he was in when he found Hermitcraft. These people could be extremely dangerous.
<xisumavoid> I'm Xisuma, I'm not going to stay long. I just need to speak with Dream. This is his world, correct?
Silence.
Xisuma nervously tucked his communicator away. This world had set him on edge enough; his ability of perception was not as heightened as it used to be since his admin abilities were passed over, but he could still feel that the magic of this world was strained and warped.
The magic of Hermitcraft that he was used to felt light, warm, like a summer breeze on a perfect day, with small snaps of explosive energy that came from volatile and powerful players all in one space. It was generally pleasant.
This world felt...dull. Dull and stretched out too far, as if there wasn't enough magic to go around. What little there was felt tainted somehow, wrong in a way that Xisuma could not describe.
It was suffocating. Xisuma wanted to be out of there as quickly as he could.
The former admin looked around, cringing slightly at the awful mess of cobblestone and dirt and wood planks that made up a wall all around spawn. Besides the crude structure, spawn was abandoned and uninhabited.
Odd.
Xisuma chose not to dwell on it too much, and turned to a crack in the wall where he could leave the box.
He ventured out to a forest of spruce, nothing to be seen for 10 chunks in every direction. All that was in Xisuma's render distance was untouched trees.
The hermit tried his communicator again.
<xisumavoid> Where is everyone? There are no structures close to spawn. Can someone offer coordinates?
"Why are you here." Came a voice in response. Xisuma jumped out of his skin, whipping around so fast he nearly fell off the wall.
A creeper hybrid stood a few blocks from him, clad in ornate golden armor that Xisuma could tell was imbued with enchanted netherite. The look on his face was as cold and intimidating as his netherite sword clutched firmly in one of his paws.
"Uh--hello! I'm here to see Dream." Xisuma replied warily. "What's your name?"
"Sam." The hybrid offered bluntly. "And I can't let you see him."
A flicker of confusion disrupted the growing unease in Xisuma's mind. "I'm unarmed, I promise-"
"It's not for him." Sam cut him off, and Xisuma swallowed his words.
"...I don't understand." Xisuma said, getting the feeling that his wariness of the new server was not nearly enough as it should be. It was then that the hermit noticed Sam deflate, only barely, but enough for Xisuma to see that the hybrid was crushed with guilt.
"...He killed the last person that tried to talk to him." Sam explained lowly. Xisuma blinked. "For your safety and the server's, I can't let you see him. I don't know you, and I don't know if you're here to break him out."
"I'm not worried about dying, I--why is it a big deal?" Xisuma asked carefully. Sam's head snapped up to stare at him with hollow eyes, sending a shiver down the hermit's spine despite how close he was with Doc.
"...It was his last life." Sam said, slowly and deliberately, speaking as if it was terrible taboo to utter the words.
"You can't respawn here?" Xisuma asked, his unease pitching. There was respawn magic here, he could feel it, this wasn't a hardcore world.
"We can." Sam explained curtly. "But if we die and it's important, it's...that's it. We only get three lives."
Sam then looked down, and Xisuma noticed how tired the hybrid suddenly seemed. His paw clenched the hilt of his sword so tight that it shook in his grip.
"Tubbo only had one left." Sam muttered thickly, his voice full of regret and bitterness. Xisuma's stomach dropped.
"...Tubbo is dead?" The hermit realized, slowly. Sam looked up, his eyes now very suspicious as he looked Xisuma over again.
"Who are you? Why are you talking like you know Tubbo and Dream?" Sam interrogated, lifting his blade. Xisuma didn't even blink, his mind fuzzy with the static of shock and disbelief. Tubbo...was dead.
"I...came here for Tommy." Xisuma answered distantly. "He...I wanted to bring Tubbo back to him."
The color drained from Sam's face, but in Xisuma's state he really didn't have the energy to process the look of shock.
"Tommy's alive?"
_
"Tango, look into my eyes, only my eyes."
"No, nope." Tango jerked away from Keralis's hypnotizing stare. "Nice try."
"Tango," Keralis said again, his voice a disappointed purr. He really was laying it on thick. "I just want to know where Shishwammy is."
"He's doing important admin stuff, I told you!" Tango said, his bark having no real bite. Xisuma instructed him exactly; no one was to know where he went. X didn't want any of his hermits to follow him into that world of destruction.
Tango kept it locked, just as he promised, but Keralis was making it so difficult.
"Look, Keralis, I'm really tired. Can I please go back to resting." Tango tried. Keralis's huge eyes stared through him for a couple seconds, but then the hermit visibly backed off. Tango breathed a sigh of relief.
"...Get well soon, sweetface." Keralis hummed reluctantly, turning and shooting out the opening to Toon Towers. Tango watched his silhouette get smaller and smaller on the horizon before turning back to his bed.
What he told Keralis wasn't a lie. His bones felt like they'd been individually hit by a ravager from all the magic that now flowed through him. The humming of every life force in Hermitcraft had been giving him a nonstop headache.
He'd definitely gained more respect for Xisuma's role in their world after experiencing what that truly meant, but he always worryingly came back to the reason the power was given to him in the first place.
It'd been radio silence from Xisuma's end since he left for the SMP, but Tango could still feel his life force pulling at his mind, distantly. It was a very odd sensation, but knowing his friend was still alive and connected to Hermitcraft gave him comfort.
Still. Tango was out of his element, and he hoped Xisuma would return as soon as possible.
Splashing sounds of water gradually became louder and louder to Tango, making him throw an arm over his face in annoyance. He just wanted to sleep, void's sake.
"Tango, my friend! How are you, big man!" A punch to the arm startled Tango into nearly falling out of bed, Tommy's signature loud 'pah-HAH' following his scrambling attempt to get upright.
"Oh, shut up!" Tango said, a traitorous smile growing on his face while Tommy giggled.
"What do you want, Tommy." Tango sighed exaggeratedly. Tommy shuffled in place, a poorly hidden look of mischief in his eyes.
"...You have any TNT?" Tommy reached, and Tango pinched the bridge of his nose. Of course. "What for."
"I wanna scare Zedaph when he goes to bed with an explosion noise!" Tommy grinned, all coyness instantly abandoned. Tango locked eyes with the excited kid.
"Tommy, get your shulker boxes." Tango ordered, and Tommy gave a cheer, bolting for the ender chest in the corner. "All right! Gonna do fucked up shit, we're wrongens!"
"Hey, no swearing in front of the kids." Tango chastised goodnaturedly, prepared to say "you" when Tommy asked what children were around.
The question never came. Tango turned away from digging through his chests of gunpowder to check if Tommy had heard him, all humor fading away when he noticed the kid frozen in place looking down at the contents of his ender chest.
"Tom?" Tango asked, approaching with enough speed to not startle the boy. He peered over Tommy's head when there was no response, and found what looked to be a lodestone compass gripped in Tommy's scarred hand.
"...Tommy?" Tango tried again, hesitantly laying a hand on the kid's shoulder. "What's up?"
"It's." Tommy choked, and Tango tensed in alarm when he noticed tears threatening the boy's eyes. "It's not moving-"
"What?" Tango asked, and a stake was driven right through his chest when Tommy looked up with the most crushing expression of despair Tango has ever seen in his life.
"Tubbo's--" Tommy's face screwed up, the tears finally falling. He turned back to the still compass, caving in on himself to press it to his chest. A pitiful, grueling wail grew in the boy's throat, and Tango's eyes widened as he put the pieces together all at once.
That was a soul compass, and it was still. Whoever was on the other end was still as well.
Tommy's best friend was dead.

Dream SMP Recap (December 8/2020)
Another more relaxing day today on the SMP, with a few progressions of the previous days’ plots and the promise of the fabled Beach Episode coming tomorrow.
---
- HBomb develops his home in Boomerville
- Tubbo works on the hole in the ocean with Ranboo
- Fundy continues work on his chess board and gets accused of colorblindness by his chat. He also wants to make some anti-pig propaganda, and has become very well practiced in his new astral projection technique. He says it’s a perk of being a Dreamon Hunter.
- Tommy has received the disc “Wait” from HBomb. He goes into the Arctic to seek out Techno’s house.
- Tommy finally finds Techno’s house.  He worries that Dream wouldn’t like it if he went in, and later the thought of Dream getting mad prevents him from stealing as well. Phil logs on and says that Techno wouldn’t be pleased by Tommy going in without Techno being there. He tells Tommy to run when Dream logs on.
- Tubbo logs on and Tommy sees him come out of the Nether portal. Tommy is upset that he didn’t say hi, then looks at the compass as he plays the disc “Far” in the background. Dream arrives and Tommy drops his armor in without hesitation. He notices Tubbo hiding behind a tree far off.
- Tommy wants to do a Beach Episode tomorrow (ABOUT DAMN TIME) Dream asks if he’s invited, Tommy says of course - Dream will help set it up.
- Phil and Ghostbur show up to Logstedshire. Phil gives Tommy his Friendship Emerald. Tommy sees Tubbo on top of tnret and thinks he’s hallucinating. He and Ghostbur were the only ones who saw Tubbo.
- Dream tells Tommy that Tubbo abandoned the compass despite Tubbo always keeping the compass in his offhand.
- Tommy builds a girlfriend and gets shot by Chekhov’s Gun.
- Wilbur breaks the fourth wall to pieces. He hasn’t been keeping up with what’s been going on with Dream and Tommy as much and is wondering why Tommy’s character is sad, since Tommy’s been getting so many gifts and visitors (It’s an interesting question)
- They bully Brand™ into submission
- Dream is still canonically a stripper
- Dream gives Tommy replacement armor and Tommy is overjoyed
- The beach party will happen tomorrow and there’s a possibility of Tubbo showing up
- Thunder wants to build a secret base and also maybe rob Tommy.
- Lazar and Vikk come on. Lazar fills Vikk in on what happened with the lava rescue mission. Vikk inquires if he and Tommy are all good now. Lazar mentions that he told Tommy he’d “put in a good word” for him with Vikk. They also go tour HBomb’s house, examine the chess board and go Netherite mining.
- Ranboo works on his sumo pit. He checks the egg and it’s grown a lot. One of its tendrils has reached the red smiley face and appears to be draining it of its redness, turning it into a white smiley face instead. The tendrils at Schlatt’s grave have turned to cobblestone.
- Bad acts real suspicious and speaks to Punz, ominously hinting about “needing time to grow to reach things.”
- Sam has made vast progress on Pandora’s Vault, building up the first layer of obsidian walls. He continues to be the voice of reason as Bad and Ant further succumb to the Crimson’s strangeness.
---
Upcoming Events:
- Karl will be touring Pokimane around the SMP sometime
- The beach party will be tomorrow
Potentially scrapped/unsure:
- Elytra challenge
- Bad and Skeppy’s plan to burn Tommy’s disc

Hey can you tell me about the creaturae plot? Cause I have no idea what it’s about
hoooo boy, this is gonna be a long one XDD
i'll start with saying that a lot is still up in the air, but there's a pretty solid skeleton of what i want to happen for certain characters and events.
imma put it under the cut because again. l o n g .
in the beginning, there was place where all stories end. a universe dedicated to the fragments and remains of all the stories that had been completed, or that never would be. and in the beginning, there was a grove, tucked into the folds of the universe, a single tree with red, green, and golden apples, guarded by three who did not know where they'd come from before.
paz, rev, and emi only ever knew the grove. each guarded a fruit, and they all guarded the grove together. not that anyone knew where it was to conquer it. one day, paz broke a twig from the tree and it transformed into a pencil, allowing her to access her powers of creation. rev discovered they could build their own creations. soon after, two doors appeared. paz entered one, and it vanished. rev and emi entered the other.
paz's door took her to what was known as a city-fragment. these floating bits of planet were essentially capitalist cities, run by mafia and banking clans and casinos. while there, she unknowingly entered a death-game. upon winning, she became a death-god as all others who won these games were. it was in this city she first met dorian, and while working with faem out of necessity (dorian is also a death-god) and eventually friendship, she used the name iden.
rev and emi landed in a world of magic and fantasy. a fragment of a long-since forgotten magical world. rev learned as much as they could, honing magic and their own power until they could learn no more. determined to gain more ability, they sought out the fabled death-games, participating in one and winning. they too became a death-god, taking on draconic features. the price? they could never return to the magic-fragment, as the citizens did not allow travelers from the city-fragments. rev and emi moved on.
rev had a vision. they brought together fragments and bits of worlds, shaping and forming them into the donut-shaped planet now known as creaturae. creaturae, for it was the last name rev had given themself. some fragments, such as the isolated city-fragments, were left untouched. but iden and dorian sensed the powerful death-god rev had become, and travelled to creaturae to investigate.
the three had reunited. iden took the name parzival, and along with rev and emi explored this new planet. dorian vanished, under the radar, and began to create the labyrinth that phased between worlds and connected creaturae to horrors and wonders yet unknown.
parzival became bored. she decided to create an island. one part of creaturae fully under her control. she found adrian- a character from a story she'd written with others, a crossover into reality. she brought him to creaturae, to the castle on her island, for his story had ended with the deaths of all the others. she formed a city, a replica of one adrian knew well. for some time there was peace, and quiet.
then it all shattered. characters from adrian's story were brought back through the librarian's timeline as fictionals- meaning they could only die the way they had in their story. other than that they were functionally immortal. adrian was reunited with lucien and jay, the three having been married for some time in the previous story (nicknamed the neapolitan trio). others had returned too, and settled into the city. (the story adrian, jay, and lucien are from is the coalition files, which me and a couple irl friends have been working on for a while. it's kind of sci-fi and superpower story thing and also very complicated lol).
disaster struck. other timelines were creeping in on creaturae, and parallels were springing up. those on parzival's island found themselves trapped living plots aligned with those in stories that had already occurred. conflict after conflict, even rev and emi getting involved to try and stop it. by the time it was brought to a close, nothing would ever be the same again. (this part follows dream smp plot points because i was hyperfixating on that when i wrote it, but it's only essential for character development, not a synopsis, so i won't go into a ton of detail).
during a massive battle, jay calls on her doppelgangers from other timelines of her story. two are most prominent: darkjay and white crow, each with powers similar and different to her own, with their own stories and tragedies lived. whit uses fire manipulation to burn away parzival's flight wings, leaving her defeated. she surrenders and is placed in prison under guard of jay. the parallels still raged for some time after this. while in prison, parzival takes on the name genesis, using he/him pronouns. rev isolates themself with emi, trying to avoid the parallels but only being drawn further into them.
it's revealed that the labyrinth, dorian's creation, is the cause of the parallels seeping into creaturae. in a final bid to break their hold, genesis is released from prison and assists rev, neapolitan trio, and the jay syndicate (the group jay and her doppelgangers formed) in finally freeing creaturae of the parallels. the labyrinth remained, but the power was under control.
rev formed an organization known as tahva (it's an acronym, idk what it stands for yet i just like it) to help them protect creaturae, the surrounding fragments, and the universe they reside in. they hire dorian to help them by monitoring the labyrinth, which fae agrees to (he's probably just bored tbh). emi helps rev any way he can.
genesis (once again using the name iden) and dorian mostly separate from the others, basically for everyones' mental health. after all, parzival was the mastermind behind the tragedies caused by the parallels, and dorian's labyrinth only worsened the problem. the two take up refuge in a woodland mansion as minecraft mechanics begin to affect creaturae, lowering the stakes by making death impermanent. dorian spends far less time at the mansion than iden does, travelling between city-fragments to help rev and tahva take down capitalist schemes, wandering the labyrinth, etc. but fae always make time for their friends.
iden has been through... a lot. i gave my sona just as much trauma as i did p much all the other unwilling participants, especially during his time in prison. everything after the parallels are defeated i refer to as "post-plot" because it's largely undefined (deliberately so) and is time reserved for all the characters to heal. because soft as i am, i can't let this end as a hurt/no comfort story. so heal they will, even if there's bumps along the way.
there's a lot i left out for the sake of trying to summarize this best as possible, i tried to include anything plot-important though.

REVIEW
The Orchid Throne by Jeffe Kennedy
Forgotten Empires #1
At first I was bored...but...after awhile I became interested and by the end I was eager to read book two in this trilogy. Why was I bored? I found the introduction long and windy without seeming to tell me anything. A bit like the opening words to a Star Wars movie perhaps but without knowing the plot or players I was lost. I began reading and did not connect with either Lia, Queen of Calanthe or Conri, former crown prince of Oriel. Conri spent most of his time bashing people a bit like a Berzerker and Lia seemed a painted doll living in a gorgeous garden that was there to please her and those living on the island paradise.
So...I skimmed and read and then finally I hit the part where Con and Lia meet. She was still cold and calculating and he was a bit of a loose cannon. And I waited and read and wondered. I wondered how the two would eventually be bound together and why and what kind of relationship they could possibly have. And...I think we find that out in book two.
Why do I want to read book two if it took so long to actually get to know and care about the characters? I am not sure. I believe it is because the story grew on me and I want to see how the couple will move forward. I want to find out what will happen to Ambrose the wizard and Sondra the warrior. I want to find out if Con and Lia will find common ground other than providing an heir and taking down the tyrant Anure. And I want to find out that there is more to Con than the oafish warrior he seems at first and if there is warmth in the cold painted doll that Lia seems to be.
Did I enjoy this book? Eventually
Would I read more in this series? Yes
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Excerpt from The Orchid Throne by Jeffe Kennedy
“Arise, Your Highness. The realm awaits the sun of Your presence.”
The ritual words cut through the thick smoke of the nightmare, bringing me awake with a start. A bad omen that I hadn’t come out of the dreams on my own—and a sign that gave the images the power to linger in my mind, stains refusing to be scrubbed clean.
The wolf fought its chains, howling in hoarse rage, shedding fire and ash.
The sea churned, bloodred and crimson dark, bones tossed in the waves, white as foam.
The tower fell into a pile of golden rubble, then to fine sand, the grains sliding against one another with soul-grinding whispered screams.
I loathe dreaming, where I have even less control than in the waking world. Calanthe Herself sings sweetly to me of the seas, the plants, and the creatures that walk Her soil. But outside our fragile island, the abandoned lands beyond cry like frightened children in the night. I can’t help them. It’s all I can do to protect Calanthe, and most days I despair of being able to do even that.
Still, with no one else to hear them, they call to me in chaotic images, the nightmares dashing me from one dark scenario to the next. No matter how the dreams plague me, I usually wake when the light of the rising sun reddens my eyelids. I keep my eyes closed, pretending to anyone who checks on me that I’m still asleep. Pulling the pieces of my composure together, I listen to the morning song of Calanthe. The birds sitting high in the canopy to catch the first warming rays of the sun show me the sky. The fish swimming in the sea speak of clean water and plentiful food. Even the trees, the flowers, the small insects in the soil all hum to me of their lives.
All reassure me of the balance, that Calanthe, at least, is peaceful and vital.
Only I and the land I’m tied to exist in that time after sleep and before true waking, in what I call the dreamthink, an almost enchanted bubble where I belong entirely to Calanthe. The emperor does not own me. The crying lands he’s orphaned are silent. My ladies have not yet woken me to wrenching reality and the trials of the day ahead.
Dreams always seem to me a terrible price to pay for the succor of sleep. Neither my naturalists nor my physicians seem to be able to explain the purpose of such dreams. And of course, Anure killed all the wizards, so I have none to tell me if magic can answer those nighttime screams. So without answers, and like the exorbitant tithes I’m forced to send to the emperor, I do pay the price, and nightly. The dreamthink is my reward, my time with Calanthe. A gift arising from waking Ejarat of the earth welcoming the return of Her husband, Sawehl of the sun. In the dreamthink, in Calanthe’s sweet communion, I can believe the old gods are with us still, that they haven’t abandoned us. That I have reason to hope.
“Euthalia, wake up. We’re ready,” Tertulyn whispered in my ear. My first lady-in-waiting, doing her duty as always. She couldn’t know she’d woken me from the nightmare instead of the dreamthink. Or that starting my day this way meant it would be certainly cursed.
No one believes in omens or curses anymore. Or hope, for that matter. In this, too, I am alone.
Euthalia is a mouthful, but no one calls me that except for Tertulyn so it doesn’t matter. Only Emperor Anure has the rank to address me by my given name, and I avoid conversation with His Imperial Nastiness to the best of my ability. Tertulyn has called me by my name since we were children, but only when no one can overhear, as etiquette demands.
As if she’d whispered them into my ear along with my name, the concerns of the realm immediately flooded my mind. The emperor’s emissary should have returned in the night and would want an audience with me—something I’d been dreading, as he never brought good news. Rumors had spread of slave uprisings, possibly even rebellion, as unlikely as that would be, that had the emperor both angry and insecure in his power. The worst possible combination in a man like him.
If I believed a rebellion could succeed, I would rejoice in the battle to come. But I had no hope of that. No one could defy Anure’s vast power and ability to destroy the least whimper of resistance, as all those kingless and queenless lands testified, crying their hopelessness to me every night.
No, such rumors meant the Imperial Tyrant would only tighten his fist—one that already strangled us nearly to death. The prospect of worse to come made me inexpressibly weary, and I hadn’t even gotten out of bed yet.
Nevertheless, I had to face the day. A realm awaited the sun of my presence, after all.
I opened my eyes and pasted a serene smile on my lips.
Tertulyn—already wigged, gowned, and decked in fresh flowers—stood a decorous three steps back from my bed, hands folded over her heart. All equally polished and lovely as morning dew, my five junior ladies awaited in a ring around her. They’d all been up since well before dawn to dress themselves before attending me. And yet their eyes sparkled as brightly as the birds that had shown me the sun on the sea, pretty painted lips curved in delighted smiles. Though I was only twenty-six, they made me feel old.
If a witch offered me a magic potion to remove the last ten years and restore my youth—and the innocent belief I’d had then, that my life would be a good one—I’d down it without question. Even if it meant my death the next day. No, that was a lie. I would never shirk my duty to Calanthe, not even for such a fantasy. Not without an heir to take my place. No matter how old and tired I felt.
ABOUT THE ORCHID THRONE:
A PRISONER OF FATE
As Queen of the island kingdom of Calanthe, Euthalia will do anything to keep her people
free—and her secrets safe—from the mad tyrant who rules the mainland. Guided by a magic ring of her father’s, Lia plays the political game with the cronies the emperor sends to her island. In her heart, she knows that it’s up to her to save herself from her fate as the emperor’s bride. But in her dreams, she sees a man, one with the power to build a better world—a man whose spirit is as strong, and whose passion is as fierce as her own…
A PRINCE AMONG MEN
Conrí, former Crown Prince of Oriel, has built an army to overthrow the emperor. But he needs the fabled Abiding Ring to succeed. The ring that Euthalia holds so dear to her heart. When the two banished rulers meet face to face, neither can deny the flames of rebellion that flicker in their eyes—nor the fires of desire that draw them together. But in this broken world of shattered kingdoms, can they ever really trust each other? Can their fiery alliance defeat the shadows of evil that threaten to engulf their hearts and souls?
