I have serious suspicions that my translation was heavy edited. It is still a great book, even through that filter.

It most likely was, there are many parts in the book I'd consider untranslatable into English specifically, or that possibly things got edited like you said, or left out to make it more... palatable for an English audience.

(Even so unnecessarily changing the title from Krabat to "The Satanic Mill"... )

I'll really need to give it a read myself, which will not be anytime soon unfortunately because I'm neck deep in school bullshit ✊😔

Maybe someday I'll step up and try to translate the book on my own, which is a fuck ton of work but maybe it's worth it...
