anzac day -> lest we forget
I would like you to do me a favor, and try to picture a scene in your head. Attempt to picture a land of mud and heat, blistering your skin as you merely stand. Head to toe in thick uniform, you and your troops stand in preparation for the landing. Imagine the moment you receive the order, sent to run over those muddy hills, bullets flying your way as they seek to kill.
This is what the landing of Gallipoli felt like for the 16,000 ANZACS on the 25th of April, 1915. The conditions of Gallipoli of course grew worse over the time of the campaign, with the heat or cold, disease, unsanitary conditions, terrible food and of course, the daily deaths of fellow soldiers taking its toll.
I figure I ought to explain what ANZAC means before anything else. ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, and was the title given to the armed forces who fought in the Gallipoli campaign during World War 1.
ANZAC Day is held on the 25th of April, the same day the ANZACS landed in Gallipoli that fateful morning. 2,000 soldiers were killed or wounded upon the first day, and those who weren’t killed were left weak.
The Gallipoli campaign lasted until the eighth of January, 1916. A total of 8,159 ANZAC troops lost their lives. As sick as it sounds, the death toll isn’t very high. Gallipoli was important for many reasons, including that it was the first major amphibious assault in modern warfare. But it’s also so important because it was seen as a failure, and yet the troops kept going. The soldiers were seen as the bravest of them all.
ANZAC Day is held all over Australia and New Zealand, ceremonies and marching alike to remember the fallen and the serving. We do many things to commemorate the soldiers fallen and alive, some being the Dawn Service and the other numerous marching and ceremonies of course.
Another thing about ANZAC Day are the flowers. Most notable of these are poppies, famous among Australians and New Zealanders for ANZAC Day. Poppies were among the first flowers to grow back on the Gallipoli front, and ever since then they have been a symbol of hope and remembrance for the ANZACs. Another is rosemary, which means fidelity and remembrance. Many people will be wearing poppies and rosemary on ANZAC Day, a sign of their remembrance to the fallen and those who served.
This is a poem by John McCrae called 'In Flanders Fields'.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
        In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
        In Flanders fields.
Something that happens here is we play a song called ‘The Last Post’, which is then followed by a minute of silence. During this minute of silence, we remember the fallen, dead, wounded and survived.
It would be a great favor to me if you could reblog this, no matter if you're Australian or New Zealand. No matter where you're from. ANZAC Day is about remembering war, the fallen and the survived.
Lest we forget.

moving to @moonheecore❗
Hey everyone! Long time no chat. I'm still here, alive and kicking. My internship and real-life studies have been keeping me crazy busy, and I haven't written a single word on my ongoing projects or even check my ask inbox for almost 6 months. But now that I'm on my semester break, I have the time to sit down and think about the future of this blog.
After debating with myself for a while, I've decided to start fresh with a new blog. I know it might seem sudden, especially since I've built up an audience here, but I feel like I need a blog that's easy to keep up with, something I can maintain and return to when I'm not crazy busy. Coming back to unfinished stuff is really tough for me, and I want to change that.
Oh, and I've been thinking about having another blog for a while now using a primary account, even before I went MIA. So, the next logical step is a new beginning. Don't worry though, I'm not deleting or deactivating this old blog. It'll stay up in case you want to check out my old stuff.
Thanks a bunch for all the support ❤️❤️. I hope to see you in my new blog with new upcoming works soon!

And finally, this is a representation of me as I despair over all the finals I have to pass to continue my university education.
In all seriousness, this is the last post on this blog. It's been one hell of a ride (years, but I'm not exactly sure how long cause I can't see when I made this sideblog), with over a 100 posts and even more cats than that. I've made breed hc, clan hc, character hc and so much more. It was fun, all things considered. I told myself that I would stop posting when I used up all my saved cat photos from my cursed cat folder (which I did) because, well, who would think that not all photos on google images belong to everyone on the internet? Yeah, but anyway. Warrior cats still is something I come back to revisit here and there; with the continuing series and a thriving community, it's inevitable. But I'm definitely done on this front.
So; to all of you who followed and actually liked some of my re-imaginings and views on how the cats looked in this series; thanks. And I hope these numerous photo-sets will continue to inspire (if they ever did) all the veteran and future fans alike. Once you step into cat-hell, it's hard to get out. Cheers!

Martinmas
Tumblr media
Source: The Enchanted World, The Book of Christmas, Time-Life Books
Today is Martinmas or St Martin’s Day. Martin was a fourth century saint allocated to the traditional feast day of the Roman god of wine, a debauched character called Bacchus. This probably explains the copious amount of ale and wine traditionally drunk at Martinmas and the legend that Martin could cure drunkenness. He was also the patron saint of vintners. Martin also became associated with the transition from autumn to winter. At Martinmas, in commemoration of Martin’s alleged death after being gored by a bull, cattle were slaughtered in large numbers, which in actual fact was probably a holy connection with the necessary practice of laying down salted beef to help the peasantry survive the hard medieval winters. Martin was also supposed to have given away his cloak to a beggar shivering in the winter cold. This tradition is behind the belief that on his feast day, St Martin can be seen on horseback riding across the fields and meadows bringing the first snow of winter billowing out from the folds of his cloak.
Most Martinmas traditions have been replaced by the sombre commemoration of Armistice Day in the U.K., when wreaths are laid at the Cenotaph in memory of the British dead of the two World Wars and later conflicts. The Last Post is sounded at the ceremony and a two minute silence is observed from 11am. The Armistice that effectively ended the First World War was signed at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918.

Finding Your Healing//The Ally Brooke Show
I was thinking a lot about this post. After seeing the stir caused by the Twitter threads regarding this issue, I decided to rethink all my thoughts about it and not upload the Twitter thread to this blog.
That means that I am not going to talk about certain issues and I am seriously thinking of erasing perhaps part of that thread, but my decision is not totally taken for a very brutally honest reason. My feelings regarding what I read in Ally's book and what I saw in that show have not changed, folks.
youtube
There is something in Ally that I think I will never end up understanding, or feeling about what her public image causes me. A hunch, intuition, perception. I don't know, you can put the name you want. But something with that girl does not quite convince me and I could perceive that and I can perceive it every time I see her in an interview and what I saw in that show of her. In her body language. Her manners. The uncomfortable way she looked in that show. Maybe it was because it was the first show, maybe it was because she was nervous. Maybe it was because she did not feel comfortable having the boyfriend Manager on her side that, by the way, I don't even know what kind of relationship they could have. I saw a photo of both of them for Valentine's Day where she looked everything but in love, but I could not assure it because I do not know anything about that relationship and I only noticed Ally. In which she kept drying the sweat of face when she talked about her time in the band. Sweat that could be due to her nerves. Sweat that could cause in her because she was not being honest, I don't know. You have to see the video, folk. It's strange.
I remember Lauren's video in Zach Sang commenting that she does not regret anything that has happened in the band because all the shit she spent through the good and the bad, formed her in the person who she is today and that if she would not have gone through that maybe it would be different and she would not be in the place where she is today
youtube
Something that if you read Ally's book or see that show of her may notice that she does mention the girls, but implies that she was the only one having a bad time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have trouble understanding that, folks. Understand that trip from her along the path of pity for herself. For everything they stole from her, for everything that others have taken from her or have not given her. The worst of all? Is that she is selling it. Does she have the right to do it? Of course, it happened to her. She lived it, but there are four other girls who have not had the same chance to tell their experiences. Four more stories that remain to tell. Of four teenagers who put in a reality show without having the fucking idea of how the shitty industry was handled, against a nineteenth -year -old girl who has been looking for opportunities in the industry since she was twelve years old. I can't stop feeling that Ally needed someone to blame for what happened to her. Of what they did not give her, because the spotlight was always in someone else and not in her. She talked about competition and of course, unfortunately, that competition was between those four teenagers. Four girls that were really badly treated. THEY DID THAT TO HER. THOSE BASTARDS NEVER GAVE THEM WHAT THEY DESERVE EVEN ALLY.
Then she got that spotlight in her book and her show with her name. Because the number of times I heard her say her own name in that show left me stunned. There were many. And everything I heard what moved me the most was the part where she talked about her family. From her frustration for not getting her opportunity in the industry, her opportunity to be an actress. And God, what shocked me the most was to say "our industry" twice and praise Simon Cowell for what he did for her.
Tumblr media
The feeling that this show has left me is that Ally Brooke has not passed the page. That she has not started her way to healing as Lauren has done. I am proud to see that our Moonchild has achieved that change in her life, that maturity, that way of seeing life and understanding things that she could not before because she had no one to help her. Also, in the way Camila has done. Even having to go through those horrible circuses, with a horrible team on her side that we still hope she can eliminate her life and her career. It is fun because I remember that today in Zoom's Meeting, Lauren talked about the fans who criticized her team for the changes of her concert dates and said: I know that you are traumatized by the teams, and that you have always wanted me to have a good team, I know. I love how she knows us in that way, folks. And yes, we are traumatized. Not only with the teams and the shitty management of the girls, but we are also traumatized by the fucking industry and we are not even within it.
We are traumatized by disgusting pigs that handle artists at will and exploit them until there are no shadows left. It is for that reason that I do not understand how Ally Brooke can include herself in that shit hole and I want to believe that she does it because of her contracts and not for her own decision. And I hope, if she has done it by her own decision, knowing that it was the only way to get what she wanted, that she is careful. Seeing her so happy talking about her industry altered my nerves, folk. I will not deny it because I did not understand any of that. Nor do I understand her words when she comments that in her audition, she got very angry because her audition edition made her see arrogant. That is something that I don't understand because, Why are you going to be afraid to see you arrogant if you really are not like that? No idea. I just hope Ally is happy with his decisions. I hope Dinah also gets that healing she needs and the same goes for Normani. And for Ally, too. I don't like her, but that doesn't make me hate her. She never did. There is much more that I would like to say in this post, but I changed everything I had planned to say and that I was related to the thread that I wrote in collaboration with @skywithesmeralds and @ra-raisara (and two other Twitter mutuals) I know it is completely different, but it is something that I had to comment and express because I still have many doubts with Ally after seeing the post she made for the 5H anniversary, where she cut the other four girls in the video she posted. She did not label them and everything focused on her, as if the other four girls had never been in the same band as her. I hope that one day we can know that part of the story we still don't know. The four books, the four truths. The four traumas and the four paths to healing. With this post I will also close Ally's subject, folks. I will not say anything else about it and I will not answer questions so I expect understanding. Thank you for reading.

Explanations you didn't ask for: The Last Post (2017) is about the lives of a unit of Royal Military Police that are stationed in Aden during the Aden Emergency, and it is chock-a-block with talented people, including Stephen Campbell Moore and Jessica Raine as the most unhappily married officer couple, Ben Miles as the unit's leader, and Jessie Buckley as a happy go lucky new wife. It's really good.
Thank you! It sounds potentially very interesting (and certainly very well cast.)
