I released version 0.8.0 of The Idle Class today! I haven't talked about it a whole lot on here, so if you're not familiar, it's a free browser-based idle game I put out years ago, well before The Salt Keep.

It's all about clicking buttons, earning achievements, and experiencing the grotesque horrors of capitalism. It's the kind of game you can play aggressively or check in on now and then, and it'll last you months if you want it to.

This update has:

55 new Upgrades

105 new Achievements

A new Business Goals feature, which lets you set an earnings goal for your next business (plus some optional caveats), and offers a significant bonus to your Next Bankruptcy Multiplier if you meet it, or a small penalty if you don't.

A new Business Cartels feature, which allows you to unlock an overall earnings bonus derived from the total listed at the Small Gray Games Patreon. It's positively communal!

A new Bankruptcy Obstacles feature, which allows you to choose from various Obstacles to burden you in your next business in exchange for a bonus to your Training Seminars. This one has the potential to balloon into all kinds of side features.

This update has been a long time coming. I'll be back to some other narrative projects now, which I can hopefully announce before too long. I'll probably post here a lot more once I do.

Outran the worst of the brain thoughts and reinstated my library + reshuffled my books around. I need another bookshelf again lol

I published an update for upcoming plans on itch.io. Details in the link, but in short, the near future is looking like this:

1.) Version 0.8.0 update to The Idle Class (which is a pretty major update). It's almost done now and should launch relatively soon.

2.) Begin core work on a new game in the same style as The Salt Keep. It'll use the same app skeleton and gameplay structure and be set in the same world, so plenty will be familiar, but it'll feature all new characters and locations. It's currently in an outline stage.

3.) Begin work on a prototype for a longer-term and somewhat more mainstream project, also set in the same world as The Salt Keep. This one is a bit of an experiment to see if the idea works and if I can pull it off, so no promises here, but it's something I would really like to do. It's also currently in an outline stage.

4.) Another smaller Idle Class feature update later this year.

5.) More writing on Patreon and here.

I don't know whether #2 or #3 would come first. Ideally it would be #3 in the middle of development of #2, but that really depends on how doable it ends up being, which I can't judge just yet. But for now, all of this is the plan.
