It's always "omg this character is sooo autistic coded 🥰" Until that character has low empathy and/or sympathy, is considered "rude", doesn't understand social cues or vague boundaries, doesn't act stupid, helpless, or weak, or has higher OR lower sensory needs, then suddenly it's a Problem and they Aren't "sooo" autistic coded anymore.

Really goes to show how many people just see autism as this cute quirky trait instead of an actual disability that. yknow. Disables the person who has it.

Okay, I haven’t seen The Hollow in upwards of like 4-3 years and generally I do not think about it very much, but this thought popped into my head like a month ago out of nowhere and I feel like a fucking moron for not realising this immediately let alone several years after watching the goddamn show. (In my defence, I was like. A child.)

Everything in the show actually suggests Adam was not very strong at all in real life rather than the other way round. He’s a gaming nerd who obsesses over this niche competition, his biggest fear is his bullies that beat him up when he was like 10 and he has trouble judging/controlling his own strength in the first season.

Like I’m only posting this because I want to let the world know how much of an idiot I am, but it also gave me a lot of thoughts.

Something about a kid who’s been kicked around and beat up and singled out for most of his life immediately choosing strength as his ability in the tournament, man. Sort of reframes the ridiculous scene where a much older teenager who could probably snap their spines without breaking a sweat is terrified of a few ten year olds. Especially with how Adam seems so relaxed once they get into the game, but once he’s in his hometown in the second season (look I know it’s technically not the real Adam shut up) he’s suddenly on edge all the time. Get this guy to therapy please.

And also y’know the comedic value of Adam going “Uh maybe I go to the gym or something.” now realising Adam probably is only vaguely aware of the concept of a gym because he’s a nerd who probably needs to touch grass lmao (same though).
