the fun thing about being multifandom is that it's constantly highlighting the juxtaposition of how one fandom will treat an element from canon in fan stuff vs how the other will an how different the answers are based on the tone of the entire fandom and how it treats canon
like. how in the mha fandom child soldiers and ptsd and fighting wars at 16/17 is very bad vs naruto fandom where child soldiers and ptsd and fighting warts at 16/17 is just really really badass ; and you can't even really say it's a thing about how the audience saw the mha cast 'grow up' and therefore sees the whole 'child solider' thing as a bigger deal - because we first meet the naruto cast when they are 12 years old.
where they are 12 years old, are already ninjas, and have been training to be ninjas since they were barely out of toddlerhood.
I think I was pretty obvious about where this is going - but yeah, it's a difference of how the universe treats the subjects that leads to the different manner of how it'll be generally treated by the fandom. in mha it's seen as kind of fucked up that all of this shit keeps happening to class 1-a - not because it's unlucky, but because they are children who keep getting caught in villain attack after villain attack without break (pretty sure the entrance exam, usj, sports festival, and internship arc all happen within four months.) vs naruto's cast thinking that the rookie nine - or konoha 12 if you consider the occasional team gai screentime to count - are very unlucky ninja for continuously finding trouble, instead of thinking it's concerning that kids are being attacked at all. it's this odd thing of absolutely no one thinking "the fact that a 12 year old boy did that is fucked up", they're instead most likely thinking "this is a newly minted genin doing all of that. he's one unlucky bastard, but he's going to go places if he ever makes it past the chunnin exams"
it's also in how these two series treat murder - not an overly big mha fan, but from my knowledge the simple act of someone being 'dead' is seen as like super fucked up - nevermind if you're the one doing it. vs naruto's thing where the protagonists killed those two guys at like 12. and yeah it was this huge moral lesson but. the murder alone isn't the thing that bothers them, it's the message and the moral the fact these two people had to die that affects them so deeply.
(I love the wave arc a lot if it's not obvious)
but that's not the point - when they first meet zabuza, this big bad guy that tries to kill them ; they think that he's dead for two weeks, and at the time they don't particularly care. he was a big scary enemy ninja trying to kill them, and he died afterwards. why should they care?
which is like. kind of fucked up but I guess that's the point of the post.
naruto after the wave arc gets his 'eccentric' and 'optimistic' views of 'hey guys let's maybe..not murder everyone we meet when it's possible to talk it out?' - but he's still very willing to actually kill people, he just thinks that maybe if someone can change - you should give them a chance to.
which is sweet, but also still fucked up because in ninja society he's seen as 'incredibly peaceful' and 'unnecessarily pacifistic' and he's still perfectly willing to kill just. entire people.
which brings me back to the "badass child soldiers!!!" thing - in universe no one gives a shit about ptsd or child soldiers, because everyone has ptsd, and everyone is a child soldier. that's just how life is - there's no big awareness of mental health. like yeah if you're about to go crazy and massacre an entire clan before defecting or something it's seen as insane and something needing monitoring, but no one is going to really care about deeper seeded mental things going on unless it affects how good you are at being a shinobi
and in fandom I think the reason people kind of shove it aside most of the time is because. well atleast it isn't being literally brainwashed, tortured, branded, and forced to kill your best friend (ROOT, I'm talking about ROOT. though I guess if some people like really squint you could probably say it's about kirigakure)
and with mha I think the reason this is treated more seriously is because the main cast is new to being heroes. they've never had formal combat training of any kind before UA highschool - well minus ojiro but like no one cares about him. I guess you could hypothetically count todoroki and bakugou but I. do not. because todoroki has shown little aptitude for things outside of his quirk before UA and I kind of doubt bakugou was getting any fighting experience by exploding midoriya's notebooks in middleschool.
we meet the mha protagonists at what is naruto's equivalent of just beginning going to the ninja academy - and we start naruto's journey at what's equivalent to the my hero academia cast just debuting as pro-heroes.
and I think that's the reason why there's such a drastic shift in how the fandom treats the idea of "these guys have major issues"
(of course the exception to the naruto thing is hatake kakashi who became a genin at 5, chunin as like 6 I think, jonin at 13-ish, anbu at 15-ish, and had every person in his life and his entire support system (father, friend, other friend, teacher, sister figure, probably someone I'm forgetting) all die right in front of him. at differing times (father at 6, friend at like 13, other friend just after that, teacher and sister figure the year-ish after maybe?? timeline is fucked up okay) the naruto fandom tends to usually take a collective stand back and go "okay yikes that's bad" when it comes to him, even if they ignore like every other person on the cast)
I don't know how to wrap this up neatly in any other way then, while the difference in how the mha and naruto fandom treats their cast despite the somewhat similar settings is jarring/interesting in equal measure, I heavily doubt anything is ever going to top khr expecting a 12 year old to lead the biggest mafia in the world in a country he's not in just for him to burn a man alive with his magic powers with his own two hands two years later because of said mafia vs the khr fandom, who treats him as a background character in contrast to his mysterious and suave hitman of a tutor who just happens to be a baby that's been living for presumably anywhere from 20 to 90 years.

Hi there!
Can you tell me more about the history of you and the MHA Anime/Manga/Fandom? Considering that at least one of those can be extremely exhausting to deal with.
So I was wondering about your, ehm, experience.
oh man. sits down. i dont think i could explain like,
all of it. because i was involved in so much
BUT. i joined the fandom when i was like...15ish? and i started with the roleplay side of tumblr, before officially interacting with normal fandom bloggers on a main/personal blog. the morals of these two groups were incredibly different...and tbh im still glad i interacted w the fandom side because it helped me get out of some really nasty situations i put myself in as a kid
However,
i was at the right time and ended up with a few friends who somehow got me connected with quirkify's friend group (an incredibly popular bnha/bakugou blogger) and. i watched the rise and fall of a fucking empire man. i ended up getting "called out" and exiled from the group although i kept a few friends and was in adjacent circles with some harassment so i still saw a lot of what transpired after and then eventually quirkify and iidasengine just kinda left and everyone fell apart
im a little sad bc a lot of really great creative work came out of it and now it seems like the big bnha fan bloggers are the ones that are Weird About Kids (uh oh!) but also i think that was the closest thing to a cult ive been in since being in an actual cult. it wasnt a cult but good lord jesus christ
after that, i also ended up in a few more situations esp irt bnha roleplayers in either servers or on tumblr (tumblr rpc is its own beast, thats like, a separate History of Fucking Drama) but bnha beef is just fucking insane. honestly. like yknow how a lot of furry drama ends like. felonies? its not like that but its not like normal fandom drama because the premise of each situation is so bizarre you can only laugh in retrospect (re: the monoma image that destroyed 4 friendships)
so. yknow.

Hey Meg u wanna ship ur moots? 🥺
*desperately scrambles to remember who the hell my mutuals are*
i genuinely have such a hard time remembering sometimes so to any of my mutuals that i left off this list, i’m sorry. i just genuinely can’t remember who follows me and who doesn’t. i am gonna do multiple fandoms though so pls enjoy.
@tanzaniiite matsukawa, armin, and fatgum. i had this typed out even before you even posted about your newfound love of him lmao. i just know you could bag matsukawa in a heartbeat. he’d be such an ass but so worth it because he’d be absolutely whipped for you. you’d also look fantastic together. armin would be terrified of you but when you gave him attention he would fall for you so hard and fast. and fatgum…..i just in my head it makes perfect sense. i don’t know how to justify it but it does. he’d be absolutely infatuated with you.
@love-oikawa you know i gotta go with oikawa. of course i do. you seem so sweet so you’d compliment some of his snippiness really well but i know you could also keep him in mind and soften his edges when you needed to. you could also definitely keep up with his insane drive and work ethic. i don’t actually know if you watch attack on titan but erwin also makes sense to me for you. just big and protective and extremely loving. you deserve that.
@kitastowel well baby, you get the honor. kita. kita all the way. idk. you just deserve it. plus you’d look precious together. he’d find you very interesting and i’m sure you’d laugh a lot together. other than that tamaki amajiki is jumping out at me but i can’t explain that one as well. that just feels right for you.
@april-avenue iwaizumi, not only because i know you adore him but also because i just feel like you deserve him, ya know? he’s very supportive and would sit patiently and love on you while you studied or researched or whatever. he’d also be very firm about you taking care of yourself. i’m also gonna give you the love of my life reiner. if anyone else gets to have him i want him going to you because you could take care of him the way he deserves.
@karasimpno daichi. this one was an insanely easy choice, though i don’t quite know how to explain it.
@ohno-otome we always come back to terushima, mostly because you’re perfect for each other. i’m also giving you jean from aot. don’t know if you’ve seen it but i’m right.
@antiqueremains i—kageyama? for some reason? that’s what works in my head w you. i have no idea how you feel about him but as far as looks go i feel like you two fit well and you’d have a good time.
@thighridingsamu there are very few characters i am as protective over as i am w sakusa kiyoomi, but i’m gonna gift him to you. also mirko from mha. i feel like she could keep you in line but you’d have a good time together.
@dadbodosamu as far as who you love, osamu. but honestly the first person to come to mind was futakuchi. i can’t really back that one up, i just feel it.
@saintdabi obvious, but shigaraki. otherwise maybe kuroo? i can’t fully explain my reasoning but it sits right with me.
@meximorrita my gut instinct is meian shūgo for you baby. ya’d look pretty together and he can do a hell of a good job taking care of you.
@flycloudddd something about you makes you think you’d be perfect with hanamaki. like he’s goofy and kind and really charming and i feel like you deserve that. he’d also be the funniest little shit about your drawing. he’d look over your shoulder and point at different things and make comments and jokes and when he thinks you’re not looking he just stares, because he’s amazed at how talented you are.
@laineeey00 i’m letting go of my selfishness for one moment and saying maybe hirugami sachirō. i love him and am protective over him but he’s a very gentle, strong, submissive boy and i think y’all would be absolutely perfect.
@alto-march-of-death komori. no idea why, again, but that works so well in my brain that i have to give him to you.

Fic Questionnaire
@ford-ye-fiji tagged me to do this; thank you. ^_^
How many works do you have on AO3? 106
What's your total AO3 word count? 395,897
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they? 27 fandoms, though for most of them it’s only like one or two. They are Akatsuki no Yona, Bungou Stray Dogs, My Hero Academia, Hunter x Hunter, Tales of Zestiria, Tales of Berseria, Tales of Graces, Tales of the Abyss, Tales of Xillia, Tales of Hearts, Tales of the Rays, Professor Layton, Noragami, Pandora Hearts, Dai Gyakuten Saiban, A Series of Unfortunate Events, RWBY, Tangled the series, Doki Doki Literature Club, Ori and the Blind Forest, Vanitas no Carte, Genshin Impact, Kiznaiver, Boku dake ga Inai Machi, Kuroshitsuji, Ai the Somnium Files, and Charlotte.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos? “Pictures, Posters, and Tender Beauty”, “Plus Est En Vous”, “My Reason”,  “I Am Here, Too”, and “A Bandage for my Scars, and your Heart” ...Not surprised that four out of five of those are MHA fics, but I will never understand how that Tangled the series one I did got so insanely popular..... maybe because the show director himself acknowledged it. 0_0
Do you respond to comments, why or why not? I try to, though I have to shamefully admit I pick and choose which ones I respond to. I appreciate every comment I get, of course, every writer does, but idk, I just feel like a broken record responding to all similar shorter comments with “Thank you so much!!! I’m so happy you liked it <3″ or something like that... Is that cruel of me? >_> I also feel weird responding to comments on my super old stuff, because aside from a few exceptions, I don’t really like most of my old fics anymore alkgklflkkl and I barely remember them enough to be able to give a reasonable response to comments on those. Instead I just put all my energy into responding to longer, more detailed comments, because with those I actually have more to work with to say back... But again, I love all my comments!! I’m really sorry if I don’t respond to your comment, it doesn’t mean I’m not grateful, I just don’t know what to say back OTL
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending? Haaaah, there are a few, but proooobably the most angsty ending would be in “Smile, and maybe tomorrow, you’ll see the sun.” Since the thing is basically 12k words of agonizingly drawn-out All Might death... :’) Though I meant for the actual ending to be somewhat hopeful/bittersweet? and I surely have other ones that have more painful endings... But that’s the obvious one that comes to mind, since I’ve had multiple people yell at me for it. :)
Have you ever received hate on a fic? I can’t remember any instances of outright hate, but I’ve gotten some... odd comments every once in a while... Or just some annoying criticism that the person didn’t intend to be mean about, I don’t think, but that realllly wasn’t warranted. These comments are very rare though.
Do you write smut? If so what kind? Noooo way in hell lol
Have you ever had a fic stolen? ....I mean, not that I know of!
Have you ever had a fic translated? Yeah, I think I had at least one someone asked to translate into Russian, although they put it on FF.net lol
Have you ever co-written a fic before? No... I really want to though. Multiple friends and I have planned different ones, but we haven’t gotten around to doing any of them yet because I’m into different fandoms atm and also dealing with health problems that distract me.... My ex-friend and I had a major one that was in the planning stages, but then she stopped being my friend so it never got off the ground. :’) I’m still upset about that...
What's your all time favorite ship? Mmmmm that’s hard; I don’t ship that much at all, so although I have a few favorite ships, one in particular doesn’t really stand out to me as my hardcore OTP.... Buuut I guess I would say Snow/Serah from FFXIII; I love ff13 so much, it’s so special to me, and those two are just the absolute sweetest and the heart and soul of the game 🥺❤️ I haven’t written anything for them or ff13 in general, but maybe someday.
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will? I only ever have one WIP at a time, so..... Hopefully not my current long one, I am constantly trying to slap myself for thinking, intimidated as I am by it with all my ideas for it and all the research I need to do. :’)
What are your writing strengths? I think I’m really good at writing characters’ emotions... the emotions they show, and everything they’re feeling internally. I really like the stream-of-consciousness style of internal monologue I’ve started using within the last few years; I think it’s very... cathartic? In general I just think I’m good at writing softness, cause I definitely feel the soft feels rereading my stuff lol
What are your writing weaknesses? Motivation.... starting a writing session and not getting distracted.... ADHD.... what do I do. :’) Although I just said I like that stream-of-consciousness style I use, I often feel like I use it too much, or things get redundant, and too wordy and overwhelming, bah..... I’m also shit at just.... knowing things, like worldbuilding, but like, real-world stuff that everyone knows, but I’ve been living under a rock my whole life and not done a lot of things that are normal for most other people, so I struggle with that in my writing, which is why all my fics not-so-subtly eek around mentioning things like food and irl places and so much else, haaah.... now I’m got myself writing 1800s Victorian London; someone save me
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? Ehhhh only do it veryyyy sparingly, like when a character is startled and might briefly revert to their native language, or something similar. I just did that in one of my recent fics, actually, and looked up a few Russian words, being super anal about getting it right.... and I still got a comment correcting my Russian, even though it was only like 3 words in the entire thing, with nothing else to say about the rest of the fic... it was a little frustrating :’)
What was the first fandom you ever wrote for? Akatsuki no Yona/Yona of the Dawn. That was the first series that really got me into fandom and making online friends, and gave me the courage to try writing fics; I’m so grateful to it for that, and it still remains one of my favorite mangas <3 Ah, to be able to pump out fics as easily and quickly as I did back then...
What's your favorite fic you've ever written? I think it’s still “Manufactured Hearts, Real Happiness”, the sole Tales of the Abyss fic I’ve written. TotA is my favorite game of all time, and I wrote this for a Tales big bang that happened a while back; it turned out much longer than I ever anticipated, one of my longest fics to date, and pretty much exactly how I wanted it to be, which is always the best feeling... I was so happy to feel like I did my favorite game justice. :’) Now.... my dream is for my current WIP to become my new favorite, if I can pull it off right; we’ll see :’)
Uhhhh I’ll tag @sixtyfourk , @cenally , @arcane-palm , @kyoukalay , @magicmetslogic , and @evevoli03 , if any of you want to do this~

Crossover Idea #5 - Artemis Fowl and My Hero Academia
Artemis Fowl is a Quirkless Villain in the My Hero Academia world
My sister’s a big fan of My Hero Academia, which means that although I don’t watch/read the anime/manga myself, I know at least the basics of the world it takes place in - especially the whole issue of quirks and quirkless and prejudice against the latter.  Seriously, for a world of professional superheroes their society is seriously toxic to EVERYONE, but especially the quirkless.  Like, seriously, it’s fucked up man.  I could go into a whole rant about how toxic the society of MHA is, and I barely know a thing about it.
But that’s not the point and I’m staying up late to type this idea so let’s get to the actual point - barely thirty minutes ago I suddenly came up with an AMAZING idea for a crossover, and that idea is Artemis Fowl, heck, the entire Fowl Family, being a family of quirkless villains and masterminds in the MHA world - quirkless villains who ALWAYS WIN.
Since I don’t know enough about the MHA world to put a plot to this idea, let’s just go into bullet point details of the idea I have so far.  Heck, if anybody familiar with both of these fandoms has an idea, go ahead and reblog this post with it!
So, ideas for this crossover are as follows:
As quirkless villains in the MHA world, the Fowl family would probably be seriously screwed if they were to blatantly go up against heroes and police in public during their criminal businesses like other villains seem to.  Therefore, my solution - nobody knows that they’re villains.  Heck, nobody even knows that they’re quirkless.
The Fowls hide in plain sight as a rich philanthropist family in Ireland who doctor the paperwork to make it seem like all their money comes from official channels somehow, and they hide their quirklessness by bribing doctors to mis-diagnose them with quirks instead of quirkless - usually mental quirks, or quirks that could be easily proven to be “real” by their own experience, such as in observation or lie-detecting.
They’ve been doing this since quirks started becoming common enough that the quirkless were the minority, to avoid persecution.
The name “Fowl” is actually the name they use as part of their villain identities, rather than their actual family names.  Well, it WOULD be what they used for their villain names if they bothered announcing themselves to the world at all.  Stealth villains, after all - it’s better to go completely unnoticed in a world where things like human lie detectors are a thing, rather than draw any kind of attention to yourself.
Literally the only people in the world that know that the Fowls are criminals are the Butlers, a family of bodyguards who have been in it with them up to the ears in the crime world for centuries.
Unlike the Fowls, who are all quirkless, the Butlers range anywhere from having full-on heroic quirks to being quirkless themselves.  However, even the Butlers without quirks are dangerous thanks to their training, and the Fowls help those without quirks hide themselves the same way their family does, partially in thanks for their continued loyalty and to also ensure their continued loyalty.
These two families are secretly behind every single major villain-caused incident in Europe, and a good number of them throughout Asia, the least number of them being in Japan (for good reason - they’d rather not attract All Might’s attention, thank you.)  Their motivations for being villains range from just liking to be bad to wanting to prove to the toxic society they live in that quirkless does not mean lower than dirt like the world wants to think.
Artemis would end up hiding behind an intelligence quirk, much to his chargain - he’s very proud of his intelligence, thank you, and does NOT like having to hide behind a false quirk label when his smarts are all him.  Unfortunately, he also understands that doing so would draw the ire of the entirety of society just for existing, so he goes along with it anyway... fo a while.
After his father dies (actually dies in this universe, because hello, QUIRKS) and his mother - who actually does have a quirk and might even be as clueless about the rest of the world that her husband, son, and their bodyguards are quirkless - goes insane, Artemis basically goes “screw the rules” and makes his debut as a faceless puppetmaster, he does so as “Artemis Fowl,” and announces his identity to be quirkless to the world
He then proceeds to run metaphorical circles around the heroes of the world starting at age 12, much to the shock and irritation and possibly fury of the world at large.
As for the fairies in this crossover, they’d probably be actually better off in canon when it comes to hiding themselves - in a world where people can literally turn permanently invisible or be born with animal characteristics, tiny people with pointed ears really won’t attract much attention, so long as there’s not a whole lot of them in one area all at once.
This means that though most fairies still live underground, their exposure is far less likely - heck, LEP officers even have fake human IDs that identify them as people with a quirk that changes their appearance only, and have mesmerized people into accepting the IDs as truth, even in official statements and such.
Of course, this also means that there are a lot more fairies trying to visit the surface because it’s less risky to do so than in canon, which means the LEP have their hands even more full than they would in a world without quirks.
Holly and Artemis’s meeting would probably be a little different from canon.  The idea I have is that Artemis would uncover evidence of the People from either the time pre-Quirks or from somewhere in the modern day - maybe he accidentally witnesses them or something - and then he’d seek them out, because these people are clearly not at all normal and their abilities would make them FANTASTIC assets to his criminal empire.
Basically instead of outright kidnapping a fairy for gold, Artemis would probably blackmail the fairy people into working for him as informants or spies.  After making sure they won’t simply kill them - probably with one of his informants waiting out of blast range of most long-range quirks (and therefore bio-bombs) holding information on the existence of fairies to release to the public at his command in a way they can’t simply erase - the fairies grudgingly agree to work with him.
Eventually though, despite the grudgingness of their agreement, the fairies would go from “unwilling accomplices” to “in it with Artemis up in the pointy ears” because, despite the advantages quirk society gives them, the society at large is ultimately even more risky to them than even a quirkless world would be.  What exactly they and Artemis would do about the whole issue is something I haven’t figured out yet, though.
And that’s it, that’s literally all of the idea for now.  It’s mostly just worldbuilding stuff - I’d need to know more about MHA to make any kind of plots that go alongside the canon storyline, though I think I could probably think something up that could be reasonable for a story like this with what I know now...
